I can't believe I haven't reviewed this before now. This was a miserable product for me! Sure, it prevented lipstick from bleeding but this gave me acne ON my lips. I'm talking bumps that resembled cold sores. I stopped using the product and they went away. Some months later I decided to give it a go again. I sharpened and sanitized with alcohol, but again, same reaction. Perhaps I was allergic to an ingredient, I don't know, but I will steer clear of this product now that I know.

For me, this is a miracle product! I used to avoid wearing lipstick/lip color, because it would inevitably bleed and wear off. However, a co-worker introduced me to DuWop Reverse Lipliner, and I have worn lipstick and lip color with confidence ever since. I circle my lips 3 times with the pencil, and sometimes use it to fill in/prep my lips. The lipstick stays put and I barely have to reapply. I will definitely be repurchasing, because this product is worth every penny.

I don't know why women are putting this ON their lips... the whole point is to divert the lipstick away. This is a true innovation and IMO a makeup MIRACLE!!! I have been an on-off smoker for 20 years (I'm only 33 - you do the math), currently off thankfully, but have some deep vertical lines around the mouth. I LOVE dark and/or bright lip color. I've been getting a lot of bleeding even faithfully using my PTR Un-wrinkle Lip (another goody - i haven't had dry lips in 3 winters). Not with this! As the directions say, I line around my lip a few times, going UP against gravity (hey ya never know what'll help day after day) - I also don't understand why women are complaining of the thick pencil when the point is to create a barrier where the lipstick WON'T go - I want that to be a thick line. I swear you can even more sloppily put on your lipstick with this b/c it won't go into the waxy zone where the reverse lip liner is. A MUST-HAVE for dark and bright colors - lipstick and gloss! Well, a must-have if you have a certain type of skin and are over 30...

I'm not sure about this product. I think it does help to stop lipstick bleeding into those fine lines around the mouth, especially important when wearing a nice red lipstick. But I do find there is a tendency for it to leave a chalky residue which isn't a good look either!

Works well as a lip liner. But in a pinch I tried it as a brow grooming product. Worked great for me. Tames everything, whether you use powder-pencil or not. Not shiny and sticky like clear mascara. Mostly use it for brows now.

This actually works. I put on with a red lipstick and it made it stay where I put it. Made my lipstick look precise, flawless and made my lips look younger because of it!

this is such a great MU innovation! it works really well and makes perfect lipstick application so much easier, esp. when you are trying to do a perfect red lip. i really like it, but it's not really necessary. it's kinda like that cool thing that makes things easier, but sometimes you forget you have it and you can actually just do without it by just being more careful and/or using reg lipliner well. its more for mistakes. not a must-have... but def a cool find.

honestly i forget i have this item sometimes. shows how important it is to me. i only remember to use it when doing really intricate makeup. honestly you can keep your lips from bleeding by good application and makeup choice than relying on a quick fix-it like this. but i like the extra precaution. make sure to wash it off as it will clog pores around the lips.

Cool product... I had never used a reverse liner like this and it certainly does what it is supposed to. I have to agree with a previous reviewer who said the pencil is a bit chunky. On the flip side, I use it on my entire lip as a primer and my lipstick/gloss stays on way longer than it normally would.
The only reason I wouldn't purchase this again is that it is a bit pricey for what you get. The pencil wears down fast so I'm having to sharpen after a couple uses.

I requested this in a swap since- based on most reviews-it's a good reverse liner. For me it really does what it's supposed to do. This DuWop liner is like a little fence around the mouth - nothing gets thru! It's not drying my lips out, and I expect this pencil to last a long time since it only takes one swipe around the lipline to do the trick. Makes my lips look fuller without any tingling. Lipcolor shades look "true-er" over this liner. *EDIT* The ELF Studio Lip Lock twist-up pencil is just as good in my opinion, but less expensive at only $3.00 each!! Plus I don't lose any product by having to sharpen it....will probably just alternate these two, or keep one in my desk makeup bag at work, and one at home...both work great!

How are you supposed to draw a thin precise line around the outside of your lips with this chunky crayon large enough for a 2 year old? I couldn't sharpen the tip small eoungh to use properly. Even after messing with that...then it goes on like candle wax and rubs off your foundation. Ahh...I'd pass on this one.

I use this for my lower waterline to brighten my eyes and it really does the trick. It has good lasting power and really makes me look more awake. It goes on very nicely and smoothly. Haven't used it as a lipliner, but I will have to try that.

Thanks to MUA, I found out that this item existed and bought one. I like that it's clear, goes on smooth and is not as drying as other lip pencils I have. I apply it to my entire lip area; not just for lining. My lipsticks go on more smoothly and I feel like their truer color shows since my lips have a natural dark pigment to them.

This stuff is a flipping miracle. I'm what the kids today call aging, but I refuse to give up the colorful lip glosses and lipsticks I have. I'm not going into my dotage without my MAC Carnal, I can tell you that. Although it is rather hideously expensive for a lip pencil, this baby is worth every penny. Essentially the Reverse Lipliner is a clear, waxy pencil with kind of a thick point, since you don't have to worry about an exact line and in fact want a slightly thicker boundary between your lips and the surrounding skin. You trace your lips with it, put on your lipstick, and voila--*nothing bleeds*. I wore MAC Carnal, a darkish dramatic red, for 6 hours--including eating dinner, drinking beverages, etc.--and even though I had to reapply the lipstick a little after I ate, nothing seeped into the fine lines around my lips. And I mean nothing! The cupid's bow I worked so hard to highlight was fully intact and smoothly contained. I will buy this product forever and ever, until I'm 99 years old and look like Baby Jane in my tattered makeup job and oddly short pinafore.

I finally found a lip liner that is truly "nude." In other words, this cancels out all color of your lips so the lipstick you put on stands out. Also, it is a primer. But, this dried the heck out of my lips and wasn't worth it.

This came in a ‘best of’ set, which is the only reason I bothered with this product originally. I mean; I don’t use lip liner (I always end up looking like a porn star), so what good would a reverse liner do?
It’s now something I use daily, so simple yet so fantastic. Just draw around the outside of your lip line before you apply your colour (it is clear & undetectable on your skin) & you’re done. Any lip stick and/or gloss won’t bleed outside of the line.
It is pricy, which will put people off, but it does work. A must-own.

This reverse liner has become an instant staple to my daily routine! I love this, I wear dark red lipstick and this definitely keeps the color from bleeding, feathering, etc... I love this liner. It is great on the darker shades and also with lipgloss alone

Fantastic product!!! I normally don't have a problem with my lipstick bleeding/feathering with my nude/peach lip colors.. only when it comes to shades of red. I mean it was so bad that it looked like I had drank a tall glass of red juice. I applied the reverse lipliner liberally and it stopped the feathering right in it's tracks. $19 is a steep price for the little wax pencil but darn its worth it.
