This is such a great product!
Hitting 30 I was getting bogged down with a very complicated skin routine that I thought I needed to prevent anti ageing. I was using serums, toners, masks, eye creams, cleansers ect. I was spending ££££ on the whole range of expensive high end products. I could not understand therefore why my skin was so unhappy! Blotchy, red, dry, itchy, spotty, wrinkly, horrible. I felt embarrassed to walk out the house unless I had a full face of foundation to cover it up!
My mum suggested that I was upsetting the balance of my skin and to go back to basics with a gentle cleanser and light moisturiser.
Digging around in my bathroom cabinet at home I found this Olay product that I had bought not long ago and never used and I thought it looked simple and would be a good start to my new regime. I like the spf30 as I spend a lot of time outside and research says it is the sun that it is the biggest aging culprit.
I like this cream as unlike pure facial sunscreens it is light and doesn't sit like a greasy mask on my face but absorbs quickly, I find it doesn't dry my face out or make it slimey to touch.
I have been doing my new regime for a month now. In the morning I gently splash my face with luke warm water and then I put The Olay spf 30 essentials cream on. In the evening I use a gentle cleanser and if my skin feels a bit dry I use a little more of this cream. I will probably update this to a night cream at some point but I didn't want to over complicate things when trying to get my skin back to normal.
My skin is back to what it used to be when I was in my 20's and not faffing around with it. I can now go out in public with no need for foundation. My skin is clear and comfortable. The spots have gone, the dry patches have gone and my skin looks plump and fresh.
I think it goes to show that sometimes expensive face products packed full of chemicals are not what is best and that a light moisturiser with sunscreen like this Olay product is sometimes all that is needed.
Very happy. I will definitly keep using this cream, especially in the summer when outside :).

This was my go to facial suncreen for years but had to change as my skin no longer could do chemical sunscreens, when I was using it,I loved it not very greasy, protected me well,no white cast or residue on my face, easy to wash off at the end of the day.the packaging is easy to use with the pump (hygienic) I think I paid $15? Very good value

I'm commenting on the new EU version. I don't know if it's a different texture and consistency than the US one, though the SS has to be better due to EU SS standards.
This is one of the more affordable facial SPF 30's on the market - its difficult to get over SPF 25 for the face thats not high-end here. So the price point is accessible. And it is suprisingly moisturising - far more than my previous moisturiser Soap and Glory SPF 25, and ten times more than the Avene AntiRougeur SPF 20. My skin is normal/slightly dry.
I will repurchase for those reasons. I dont have a problem with makeup, though I let it sink in for 5 mins first as it is pretty emollient. The only thing I wonder is how well it would work on oily skin - surely they would need something lighter? It is marketed as essentially for all types.
I'm happier than I thought I would be with this - I can see myself using it for a long time.

I have hyperpigmentation marks around my mouth and some dark spots as a reminder of a few monthly pimples. My doc suggested a SS everyday to prevent further darkening. Cool I tried MaryKay timewise SPF25 but it had no moisturising properties and I like to keep the product count on my skin to a minimum. So I tried UltraSun which had a grey cast an made me look like I had died, many good reviews for people with sensitive skin and advised for HP marks. Anyhoo, this Olay product has just come on the market in the UK. I think it took so long as the EU is really stringent with SS and Olay had to play around with their formulation.
It was on sale in superdrug and I tried it, even though it is for normal/combination/dry skin and my skin leans towards oily. Only £7 to loose.
It is good 2 pumps does my face and neck, it doesn't feel really greasy and dries really quickly that by the time I have moisturised my body it has settled enough to allow primer.
I started using this in March and I still have lots left, but when an if the weather changes for the better I think this would be too rich for my skin. I definitely wouldn't use this on my skin on holiday. I have traveled with it but I put a bit of tape on the top to prevent any surprises.

I agree with the reviewer who says this is more like a sunscreen than a moisturizer. Its ever so slightly heavy texture makes it feel a lot like a sunscreen, and then when you jump in the pool and it runs into your eyes and starts stinging, you DEFINITELY know its a sunscreen!
That doesn't mean it's a terrible product, it blends well and isn't that offensive. It's just a little too oily for my skin and will be trying something a little lighter in the future.

This is much more of a sunscreen than a daily moisturiser.
It smells like a sunscreen which I find very off-putting. It isn't greasy though and provides SPF 30 which is great if you are the sun most days.

I really like the consistency of this product- for a high spf lotion, it doesn't have that oozy, pungent smell that you think of when you think sunscreen.
It wears like a normal moisturizer. I also have acne-prone skin and I haven't experienced any breakouts that I can pinpoint back to this produce. Actually, I think that it is very important for people with acne-prone skin to have good sun protection because I think sun can make acne way worse.
I would repurchase this, but next time I'm going to try the type for sensitive skin.

I have been using this for 2 years now. I never think of using it as a real moisturiser, but just consider it a sunscreen, due to its high SPF. It is affordable. This pump does not comes with a cover (turn to lock it) so it is not good for traveling, as it will get accidentally pump out! Yuck.
It is abit greasy, but I matte it with Benefit Dr Feel Good balm after Olay. No complains!

I quited liked this product as it aimed to provide moisture as well as good sun protection. As it doesn''t use mineral sunscreens, it's also lighter and doesn't feel as thick on my skin. The moisturising properties aren't great as my skin is still dryish after using this, but the sun protection is pretty good. This still tends to melt and move in the summer so powdering is necessary. I've now stopped using this though as I prefer mineral sunscreens since they're more natural and are physical blocks. Otherwise, this is a good product for the price.

I liked this moisturizer quite a bit, it seemed to provide decent sun protection, and keep my oily skin moisturized without making it too oily like most sunscreens do. But this broke me out like crazy. After using this every day during a vacation, two months later, I am still battling the remains of the cystic acne this brought upon me.
I ended up using the rest of the moisturizer as sunscreen for my body, and it worked quite well.

I've been using this for a few weeks now and so far, I love it. Good coverage, goes on easily. It's very similar in texture to their SPF 15 products. Leaves my skin feeling moisturized and looking great, but not too greasy. Wears well under makeup.
I just wish they would sell it in a bigger bottle.
It's only been a few weeks, so if that changes, I'll come back and update. But I used their SPF 15 products for a few years with good results and I have had equally good results from this one so far.

while i love the packaging, i suspect that this is what made my otherwise clear skin break out like there's no tomorrow. i recently switched from the spf15 one to this in the hopes of getting more sun protection. it feels lightweight and non-greasy on my skin, but after almost a week of usage, more and more breakouts started to happen all over my cheeks and chin. this was the only change in my makeup routine, so i highly suspect that it's the cause of my breakouts. my mom also tried using this, and after a week, she started getting red rash and irritations on her cheeks. this time i'm sure its the moisturizer because she doesn't wear any makeup other than sunscreen. i have already stopped using, and will update later when my acne subsides

I have been using this product since 2006
it is very good to provide the moisture and UV block, however it becomes a bit greasy on my T zone afterwards and its strong scent is a bit annoying

I've never found a moisturizer that didn't make my skin too oily and/or breakout. I finally got one! I have a oily T-zone; this Olay Complete Defense gives my skin just the right moisture. My only issue with this product is that my eyes keep watering if it goes around the eye area... (this is the only reason for my rating of four "lipsticks" instead of five.) That's annoying. Although the package is quite small for the price, don't be fooled, it does last a lot! But, overall, I love it, would buy it again and recommend it.

Simply put, I love this product!! I've used it since it first came out. It's light but moisturizing enough for my incredibly dry skin. I don't break out using it like I do with other facial sunscreens. I tried the Neutrogena SPF 45 last year on my Italy vacation and felt wrinkly (not enough moisture) and pimply (broke out like crazy!)...not good in the land of supermodels! :) My only complaint is that it can't get within1 inch of my eye area or else my eyes will water alllllll day long!! I haven't had access to the sensitive skin formula (maybe that's less aggressive to the eyes as well??) This is a definite repurchase though, I just have to be SUPER careful when I apply to completely avoid my eyes.

I reviewed thsi but I can't find it so I'm re-reviewing.
I really like this stuff. I am a bit annoyed and confused by the fact that it costs so much more than the SPF 15 version but I sprung for the 30 because SPF is important to me now that I'm climbing higher into my "early" 30s. I have used several diiferent SPF sunscreens and this is my favorite. I tried Ocean Potion but it's not a moisturizer and it felt too greasy for me. It also stung a little. I tried Keihl's 15 and I liked it but I felt I wanted higher SPF. I tried Keihl's 30 but it was too greasy, it stung, it was sticky and it left a white cast on my face. So I tried this even though it seemed really kind of pricey for a drugstore brand and I really like it so far. I've been using it for about 2 weeks. It has a nice pump that is handy. It feels very moisturizing and not heavy at all. It does not sting (maybe a tiny bit once in a while but hardly noticable) when I put it on. It absorbs quickly and easily and doesn't leave me feeling greasy or sticky. Nor does it leave a whitish cast on my medium dark skin. It may leave a tiny bit of sheen but when I put on my mineral makeup you can't see any shine anymore. I use it on my face, neck and chest and I really like it. I plan to repurchase this when I run out.

I used to use the Olay Complete SPF 15 for combo skin, but now that I'm no longer in my twenties, my combo skin is becoming more dry than oily and its thin, runny formula was not moisturizing enough. This product provides enough moisture, without having a heavy or sticky feel, and I like the fact that it has higher SPF. There is a bit of sheen, but not enough to make my skin look oily, and it has not caused breakouts to my acne-prone skin. It actually gives me a little bit of a glow, and I have no problems wearing it under makeup. It smells nice too - not like sunscreen. This is the first moisturizer I've tried in a long time that I actually plan to repurchase when I run out.
