I never knew what it was like to have makeup "slide off" my face. I have oily/combo skin but I can't really say I have ever had a case of the oilys that bad. Interestingly enough, a few hours after using this primer before I applied my MAC F&B...OH MY LANTA I couldn't believe what was going on. Pores exaggerated and foundation patchy probably from separating on my face. Actually looked like it was going to melt off my face! Real sexy!
So I will say the product does not claim it will mattify. But no where on the product description does it say it's for creating a dewy look (aka an "oil slick" to girls that battle excess oil).
Thankfully I only had to use it once to know it would never go on my face again. No breakouts have appeared and because I received this as a sample I didn't loose anything.
Just want to caution girls with oily skin. If your still thinking about trying this primer, get a sample and wear for a day!

Does what it says: smooths my makeup. Suprisingly it reduces the redness in my face, not much but a tad. Doesn't help my makeup stay at all, long school days without replying and with normal to oily skin, i need a great primer. This was't it. Won't repurchase.

I got a free sample of this recently. and i also used it about 6 years ago when primers became popular. This time around it felt just as nice and made my skin so smooth for makeup however a couple days later my usually clear skin broke out into cystic acne. 3 very hard under the skin pimples the kind that never pops, feel/ look more like bug bites and takes weeks to go away. I have had almost identical bouts of breakouts with other face products so maybe its the silicone or another ingredient but my skin doesn't like it.

This is such a great primer. I've used moisturizer only before with liquid foundation and I have so so so many acne scars and I use the Revlon Colorstay and I found myself having to use 2 layers on that PLUS concealer and you would still be able to see my scars I was so self conscious. But, after using the Sephora base it was unbelievable I am so happy with this product because I only need one coat of my foundation and no more feeling heavy on my face! I suggest this to anyone and you only need a half a pump; it's plenty.
Good luck!

The price for the size of this primer is a bit off-putting, but nonetheless, I really like this primer. It does smooth out my skin and makes my pores look smaller! Anything that helps my pores look less noticible is great in my book :)

When I first used this product, I was amazed by the results! It made my skin so smooth after applying that I didn't have any trouble putting on my foundation. It didn't make my face cakey and It also helped to eliminate my redness from my blemishes and smoothens the texture on my face due to my pitted scars. Sephora in my area was closing down so I grabbed a few more bottles! It's one of the best primers I've used. I have smashbox's and Make up forever's primers but I would still choose Sephora's make up primer.

I just hate the fact that it's so small and pricey!

Love this! I mix it with my Revlon ColorStay foundation and apply them together. The two make my skin look flawless and super smooth! I've been lucky enough to score deluxe samples of the primer twice so far lol but I will be for sure purchasing a full sized bottle whenever I run out! I love that it's totally clear and isn't opaque also. I never have to set my makeup with powder while wearing it.

I'm very pleased with this one. On to my second bottle now. It prevents those nasty flaky patches that foundations often bring to the light. Easy to use, nice little bottle, does the job. For keeping the shine at bay I prefer YSL, but since that stuff is almost 4 times as expensive I'll settle with this little gem.

Sephora brand makes alot of great products, and this primer is no exception. I got it as a sample with my last purchase. I like the silky texture, and it takes a bit longer to dry than Smashbox Photofinish which I like. This primer makes my makeup go on smoothly, it lasts much longer and I need less powder. At the moment, it is my HG primer.

I got this as a sample from Sephora and over the course of a couple of days, it made me break out! It did however control oil well. You have to be careful about only applying a small amount because otherwise, it will make your foundation look cakey. It would have been an okay product if it didn't ruin my skin.

Last time I went to Sephora (and it was my first time too, since the closest Sephora is in Italy) I got a sample of their Smoothing primer. So far I have only used the Manhattan primer, which wasn't all that good.
So I tried it, and it gave me the smooth feeling in a SECOND! It helped with the long lasting of my MU and my T-zone was still intact after 5 hours (it normally gets oily after one damn hour!). I really loved the feeling of the primer, it is so lightweight. Even my dear said that my skin is softer (I let him test it on my palms, since one had it on and the other didn't).
I will purchase the full size ASAP, which is next time I go to Italy (we do not have any Sephora here). I do highly suggest it. My skin is quite sensitive and this didn't break me out.

I placed a Sephora order recently after receiving their GC promotion. In any case, I ordered several samples, including a deluxe sample of the ever so expensive and loved YSL Faux Cils mascara. I was sooo excited to try the mascara...but anyway, review on that one coming up.
My point is that the item I expected to be the least impressed by turned out to be the one item that I ended up loving the most. This primer is absolutely perfect for me. I say for me because I am reading a lot of other reviewers who want more oil control and such. Most primers make my skin super dry and flaky, and this one did not do that. It's very light, and it feels like air on the skin. What surprised me the most was after I applied my foundation the results were amazing. I don't think my foundation ever looked this airbrushed on my skin. My skin did not appear dry...just normally balanced. I am pretty sure I will be picking up the full size bottle. I highly recommend it!

This didn't work well on my combination skin. I actually found it made my face more oily within a few hours and didn't keep my makeup on at all.

You know.. I don't usually wear primers or need them but i kind of noticed that when i wear this under foundation it really hides those annoying tiny pieces of flaky skin! so i found a good use for it and it also makes the foundation go on smoother and i don't really have a problem with my skin getting too oily so i wouldn't know if it helps for that or not. but overall really good product!

Yes, this product is basically the Monistat Chafing Relief Powder/Gel, but with a markup of 150%. I have used both, and if this product works for you and you have yet to try the Monistat, I strongly urge you to give your wallet a break and try it. I actually think the Monistat works better at oil control, but whatever active ingredient does that is probably also what gave me an allergic reaction (I only have an oily t-zone, and the Monistat dried me out severely in the cheek areas). Also, as with the Monistat, I've found that this product works better if you let it dry for a bit (45 seconds to a minute), instead of slapping on foundation immediately after.

I like the dispenser...one slow pump is enough for me to cover my t-zone, and especially the insides of my cheeks, where product has a tendency to slide off on me. It's definitely a better deal than the Smashbox primer, but if you neeed something oil-free, I don't think this one will cut it.

Its OK, I didn't feel like it controlled my oil very well. I also don't think it absorbs very well, I don't know..It just like monistat, just buy that instead..its way cheaper
