For fans of Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum or Bourbon French Anastasia, this is an excellent replacement at a fraction of the cost of the Serge. I don't get the cherry notes a lot of reviewers mention....to me it is all almond, an almost lightly powdery heliotrope note, honey and soft vanilla. It is a rich smelling gourmand with better than average staying powder. Soft and feminine, this is a great "anytime - anywhere" scent for gourmand lovers.

Of the BPAL samples I tried, this was one of the better ones I tried, but that's not saying much.
It was just straight almond extract on me.

The more ambitiously unwieldy BPAL becomes, the more I love to read about--but not purchase--the scents. This reluctance is weighted in experience; more than once I have fallen victim to literature.
Dana O'Shee was one of the first BPAL scents I purchased, long ago and far away. Given the cacophony of later compositions, Dana O'Shee seems positively noiseless, a simple recording of cut wheat, almond, sugar, green, and milk.
Unfortunately, Dana O'Shee doesn't last on my skin, and it is little more than a skin scent in the manner of L'Artisan Jour de Fete. For all its brevity, it is a joyful little thing, completely devoid of artifice or "construction" or even too much thought. This makes it stand apart from much of the BPAL line-up, where the rush to manufacture seems to work against solid construction.
Dana O'Shee is a BPAL quickie. It makes you want to head out on a spring day to play with imaginary friends, most especially if you happen to have large fields in which to cavort. It's a linear scent that is more about being than it is existing, and I say that's a damn good thing, as is its complete lack of premeditation.

Love everything about Dana O' Shee, from the fruity cherry to the warm, creamy milk and honey. This is so comforting good enough to eat. Oh, but how fleeting it is, as I can't smell it after an hour, even with slathering it on.

I enjoy this scent when it's brand, spanking new from the lab. More to point, my boyfriend adores it. However, if I don't use it up quickly enough it becomes play-doughy to my nose and we can't have that. Afterall, I'm mostly a grown up, aren't I?
When the fragrance is new, I smell honey and yeast (in a good way) and a bit of dry wheat with cream in the distance. The lasting power on me isn't the best so I blend it with Cetaphyl unscented lotion (as I do with many perfume oils) and apply liberally all over my body. With Dana O'Shee, this makes me feel like a pastry...a sexy pastry. Rawr - Munch!

In the bottle- very strong almond cherry scent
This quickly mellows on me to a creamy honey scent. No almond or cherry. I really like this and find it's a comfort scent for me. It does fade quickly on me, as least to my nose. My daughter said she smelled it hours after I thought it faded. Most of BPAL's honey scents (Alice, Dragons' Milk) smell the same on me, so I doubt I would purchase another honey scent. My chemistry seems to amp honey scents. My favorites are still Antique Lace and Morocco, but I don't regret purchasing this..

In Vial: strong almond scent
Wet: Almond with the honey coming into play
Drydown: Vanilla and almonds. It's not very foody but is a nice comforting scent.
The vanilla is now becoming the strongest note with just a bit of sharpness from the 'grains' that smell like almonds. This is the most wonderfully comforting scent. When I want to wear something warm that will give me the sense of a big cozy blanket wrapped around me, I wear this.
I want to note that this does not have cherry in it. Almond oil or extract is associated with cherry because it is used many times to flavor or scent things having cherry like cherry pie.

Honeyed grains and oats, with a little bit of cherry thrown in (no almond). This reminds me very much of Burt's Bees' Milk & Honey Lotion. It's very soft and I need to slather, but it's become a staple for me : )

Finally a BPAL I can love!! Most BPALs are so incredibly strong that I get a massive headache upon opening the imp. Dana O'Shee didn't induce a headache and it smells divine! I really love the honey, almond and grains. I also do get vanilla and a like many almond fragrances -- it produces a little cherry-amaretto scent going on. Nonetheless it's delicious -- and it remains true to scent -- linear... good staying power. Yeah BPAL .. finally one for me to love!

if you want to vomit and die use this almond/cherry/powder scented perfume. I got a migraine so bad I threw up and had other gastrointestinal accidents all night. not for the scent-sensitive.

I adore this perfume- it smells exactly like it's supposed to with my body chemistry-- it's warm and honeyed, with a touch of milk and grains. It does have a cherry almond scent at first, but that fades into creamy deliciousness on the dry down. Perfection. It's dreamy.

I like this - it smells a lot like some of my favorite fragrances including SL Rahat Loukhoum and Lady Evangeline. I smell mostly cherry and some vanilla, with a very bitter almond starting things off. It's one of BPAL's better offerings IMO, but since I have Rahat I don't need this.

The notes of Dana O'Shee sounded like a dream come true on BPAL's Web site. Creamy lusciousness of milk, grains, honey, is just what I love to smell like. Although this is a fantastic warm gourmand sweet perfume oil, it's not quite perfect. I wanted more creamyness, more grains, but I mostly got vanilla, almond, and cherry. No doughyness, no milkyness, not any honey really. I get a lot more cherry and almond than milk, honey, and grains. It smells a bit different than the BPAL description implied. Too bad, since then it would have been a five-lippie rating. As it is, I really give Dana 3.5 lippies. It lasts an adequate amount of time on my skin, but not as much as I wanted and expected from an oil. Overall, this is a really comforting and lovely scent. It starts out very almond and cherry on me, drying down to a sweet vanilla with a hint of cherry. Dana O'Shee comes in a dark blue glass bottle with a screw top. I wish there was a rollerball or spray or something to make it easier to apply. The packaging kind of sucks. Great fragrance, especially if you like sweet almond scents like Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum. I prefer the Serge Lutens, however. But this is a nice much cheaper and easier-to-find alternative. Notes: milk, honey, and grains. (But I get almond, cherry, and vanilla, really).

People compare this to Lush's snowcake, and I fully understand why. In the bottle especially it has that light marzipan scent- just like snowcake. In the bottle and when it's first on this smells just like light almonds on me- I love that! Unfortunately it morphed on me, and it turned into a sort of plasticky, buttery scent that wasn't nice at all. Shame- if only I could capture that light, wispy almond scent in the bottle for the long haul.

This is my favouritest stuff in the world! EVER!
Smells a little almond-y in the vial, plus a pinch of sweet and a dash of milky..
but on, it is utterly divine! To me, it smells like most everything everyone has mentioned, sweet and custardy, sugared marizpan, but imagine all of that while you are burning incense! Or more acurately, a stick of sugared milk custard incense! Sweet ,with on me, at least, an underlying smokiness which makes it incredibly understatedly drop dead sexy.
Amazing.

Oh, how I wanted Dana O'Shee to love me! But all that I got, again and again, was plastic baby doll. I've heard it's lovely on other people, though.

In the imp I smell faint honey and ever so slight almond. On the skin it's a lovely, light, sweet sugar and grain type scent... Milky rice.. Rice pudding... Ice cream with honey? I think it's more of a rice pudding scent on my skin. I don't smell almond anymore, just a smooth sweetness. Very beautiful, but so very faint. I can only smell it when I sniff my skin. I would buy a big bottle of this if it were stronger!

In the bottle, this is pure almond extract, but on my skin, it's a much more complex blend of oats, milk, honey, almonds, and a hint of cherry. It's a lovely scent, but it doesn't really have that little unexpected twist that makes you say "Wow!" in so many other BPAL blends, so I'm taking off one lippy. This is a good one for days when you want to smell girly and innocent.

Yes it smells like almond, in fact it reminds me *a lot* of Lush's snowcake. It's a nice scent I wear to work, I'm not crazy about it though. I like snake oil a lot more.
