I bought this product in Japan while I was vacationing. Since it was my first time buying a Shiseido foundation, the lady color matched me to the shade 010.
I've been using this product for over a month now and I LOVE it. I forgot how much the powder and the compact was, but it was around $50 US all together (or 4,000 yen). I can honestly say this is the best powder I have ever used. I apply this with an ecotools powder brush in the mornings and without retouching up in the middle of the day, by the end of the day my face is a bit dewy but nowhere near as oily as it usually is. (I have combo/oily skin if you're wondering). I will definitely be repurchasing this product when I am out.

I had been using Shiseido's "The Makeup Powdery Foundation" in O40 for YEARS, and had always thought that it was a little too light and too yellow. O60 was impossibly dark. Regardless, I really do love this powder foundation. It disguises my huge pores and is IDEAL for winter. I have sensitive combination skin and almost everything makes me break out and this powder has never damaged my skin. In the previous month, I went on a HG foundation powder search and tried everything. I ended up coming back to Shiseido, and purchasing this in I40 instead of O40. And WOW, what a difference! It is literally perfect. A medium beige with subtle yellow undertones, not as obvious as the Ochre. For reference, I am between NC35 and NC40. NC 35 is generally too light, and NC 40 is too dark but manageable during summer. I'm asian with black hair and brown eyes, and pretty much always assumed that I had strong yellow undertones, but realized after purchasing I40 that I'm sort of a neutral beige. I really, really hope this product is never discontinued. It took me years to find the combination of the perfect shade and powder!

I got this in tandem with the liquid foundation because I needed something to mattify my skin and absorb the oil. I've tried to use it by itself a few times when I couldn't be bothered with the liquid base, but the coverage is really really poor. Unless you have no spots it probably wouldn't help. Didn't really absorb the oil either. I still got oily, but perhaps it's because my skin IS VERY oily.

Good points though. Like the liquid foundation it does not seem to ever go bad. Every time I applied it over the 3 years I've had it it never felt like it's gone off, which defines its quality. Better get what I paid for. And it does add a beautiful finish to my liquid foundation. The liquid by itself is passable but there must be something to that minimal coverage, cause on top it actually does turn my face more or less flawless, and I've had nearly everyone tell me that. And I'm very picky about seeing spots on my face, so if I say that, it's got to have a little bit of magic if nothing else.

However, in retrospect, I haven't tried the other Shiseido powders yet since they weren't out when I got this one, and they probably are way better. I would buy it again because I trust it, but only if I have the liquid base. Otherwise, I would suggest to try the other powders, they do seem to have higher ratings.

I really liked this product at first. The coverage is sheer yet covers up just enough, stays on through the day (just need to blot once in the afternoon), perfect color match. Then I noticed that I started breaking out, and after each application, there are more and more blemishes. As much as I would have liked to continue using this foundation, I think I have to discontinue before there are any more break outs. Sadly, won't be repurchasing.

I think the colour range is too orangey. Also there are foundation powders out there with better texture. So I will not buy again.

I used this for a long time, but then I realized that it was making my pores look enourmous. It has a subtle gleam or pearlessence to it that would look fine if my skin was perfectly smooth, but, alas, it's not. Otherwise it was perfect - not too dry, not too oily, great color for me (I40). Moving on.

Age: 36-43   Skin: Acne-prone   Hair: Brown   Eyes: Brown

I really wanted to like this.I really did, but after exactly 2 weeks of using it daily, I returned it this afternoon. My skin is oily and acne-prone. I also have some redness and enlarged pores along side my nose. This powder covered my skin well enough, hid my pores and almost looked flawless. However, once it settled into my skin I could see every line (read: wrinkle) on my face and that is not good. It stayed off shine for hours which is a plus for me, but after 3 days I got a pimple and then another. This was the only new product I introduced to my routine so I am holding it responsible. I didn't use the sponge for the application, just a kabuki brush. It was hard not to overdo the application, but after a couple of attempts I got it. I prefer powder foundations on my skin because they are light and I know it's there without being aware of it, but this powder, to me, felt almost mask-like and slightly drying on my skin. It's too bad because I've read and heard such wonderful things about Shiseido.

This is a review for shiseido The Makeup Compact Foundation. I have this in both Natural light and fair ocher (O20 & O40 respectively). I got O40 first because the SA said it would be better suited to my skin colour, but after I tried it on at home I realised it was much too dark. Then I got O20 and it came out too pink/orangy even though this is suited for yellow skins. Another negative is the powder itself, it's very waxy and hard and I couldn't put it on dry I had to wet my MAC 182 buffer brush to get any pigment and this was the case for both my powders and the one at the display counter. It also balls up when wet. Performance wise, it's pretty poor. After buffering on the powder wet it gave a beautiful airbrush look but after an hour (didn't have on primer) it caked and accentuated all my pores, without makeup you can't even see my pores but for some reason with this powder it's very obvious. Zero oil control. Pro:I love the packaging, beautiful pearly dark case, the scent is nice too. $135 wasted sigh*

I went to the Shiseido counter looking for a foundation that looked natural, didn't leave my skin looking oily, covered my blemishes and old acne scars, had a good staying power, and had sunscreen. After the SW put four foundations on my face, I decided this one looked more natural than the others, made my pores look smaller, and felt lighter. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't cover my scars very well, but I didn't care because after all, they sold concealers too.
l've already used it three times and so far it's very good. Leaves my skin feeling soft, lasts a long time, and hasn't caused breakouts yet.
It absorbs oil, but my face doesn't look as if it's going to crack or anything like that, but I use moisturizer under it. What I like the most is that I don't need to apply powder on top and the color matches my skin very well. I got I20.

This is a review for Shiseido's Invisible Pressed Powder, in translucent. I love the powder; it's smooth, silky, long-wearing and gives an incredible, porcelain finish to my skin, without looking chalky or overtly powdery. Shiseido's packaging is gorgeous, too, as always. However, I like this stuff so much that I tend to go through one pan of it in a matter of just a month or so, and even the refills costs more than I can justify spending on powder, of all products. I really wish that I could just keep buying this powder whenever I run out of it, with a clean conscience; but I can't, so I still feel a bit torn about it. Sigh.

I bought this in 06 "Natural Deep Ochre". I looked good, sounded good but when I tried it at home it just didn't do the job. I found it difficult to apply, the colour did not blend in to the skin. Made my skin look worse than if I wore no makeup! Pleasant small and packaging but that's it! Would certainly not rebuy and it has scared me away from shiseido complexion makeup for a while!

Yikes! Dry, dry, dry on my skin. I am combo/oily, but this looks terrible applied over my concealer. Works okay for touchups. The lightest shade is still a bit dark for my pale skin.

Love love love this foundation/powder. I have combo/oily skin and nothing has really worked for me - stick, liquid, powder - they are either too thick, give me an unnatual look, or too dry which flakes my skin.
Shiseido powdery foundation is the perfect solution. It feels a bit dry and hard compare to some of the other creamier powder (bloom, stila, CD, to name a few), so it doesn't give you the powdery look, but it still gives a very sheer yet still excellent coverage. It never dries me out like Neutrogena Health Skin SPF30 does.
I have fair skin and uses I40. I've used O20 for Shiseido hydro-liquid compact, but the sales recommended the I line - O is more yellowish, and I is a bit more pink. Combined with concealer pen #2, I finaly got my flawless skin! The powder lasts about half a day, and a little touch up get me through the rest of the day. I think I'll refill it again and again until they discountinue, and at $26 it's totaly affortable.
The only thing I'm a bit dissapointed is the compact is very thick, and takes up a lot of space in my makeup bag. Oh well, it's still very pretty and I can totaly live with it :)

I like using this product wet, but only for photos and events. Otherwise, it's too much of a heavy coverage for my liking. It IS a flawless finish, and lasts all day, but I can achieve the same look, although less thick and more natural looking, with the Powdery Foundation, using a moist sponge.

I'm really pale and have oily, acne prone skin and therefore have always great problems finding a foundation which works for me. I bought this after reading all the reviews and am amazed by the nice, soft touch and the colours (120 is best for me). There is no chalkiness, no sign I'm wearing make up at all. I'm not too impressed by the coverage, though. If applied with a wet sponge, it is way to sheer for me, when applied dry, it covers most imperfections, but not all. But in the end, I don't think any finely milled powder can do that. It has SPF 15 and gives a nice matte, long lasting sheer coverage. The compact looks glamorous and I like the seperate compartment for the sponge.

I have used this foundation for the past two years, and will continue to do so, although, I must admit I had trouble with it at first. I have combination skin, and it was rather hard to apply (seemed really dry, almost like a compressed powder) and tended to cake in some areas. Experimenting, I added a little water to my application sponge then dabbed into the foundation, and it glided on my skin perfectly! Even with the added moisture, the foundation covers nearly everything (I still use a little concealer for larger zits). Moisterizer also works just as well as adding water, which is especially nice during the winter months. It doesn't break me out like most foundations do, and the price isn't bad if you buy just the refills.
