I like this. It gives me a lot of lift and makes my hair appear thicker without it feeling dry. I really can't think of any cons.
Will repurchase.

This is one of Pantene's best products: quality ingredients, not a drop of drying alcohol like most of their products; surprising as I consider most of their hair lines deadly for the hair. Even more important to me, they test on animals, so no thank you, and goodbye.

Did some weird things to my hair, didn't like the way it looked. Still had some frizz too, so I'm sticking to traditional gel formulas because I get better/less crunchy results from them.

This product worked fine the first few times I used it. In the beginning, it seemed to have a gel-like consistency when I sprayed it onto my roots and it did give my roots a lot of lift, and I actually liked the product but not even a quarter way through the bottle, it lost its effectiveness and it seems more thinner in consistency (not gel-like anymore). This product does not do too much for me anymore and I'm not even halfway through the bottle. I will be looking for a different root lifting spray.

Im always on the hunt to find the perfect root lifter for my fine hair! I had a more expensive product in my hand when I walked down the aisle and saw this. I decided to give it a go and YESSSS! Im actually shocked this works so well. Will buy again and again!

This is one of the products I can't live without. I have tried so many so called root lifters to give some volume to my fine hair. I am currently trying Goldwell and although I would say Goldwell is pretty good (besides the unpleasant smell) the pantene is just a tad better and sooo much cheaper.
Tips for using:
It is very important NOT to use TOO MUCH and apply it ONLY TO ROOTS of your hair. If you apply it all over, your hair will feel kinda gross and look dull. This is what I do. First I section the hair that is wet in straight lines with a comb and spray it along the line to the ROOT only. Keep doing that all over your head. Then blow dry with hair upside down. The volume I get is amazing, it smells great and if applied sparingly and properly your hair will feel natural and not sticky icky and still be shiny.
FYI-This is not discontinued just a name and bottle change. Its the new FINE hair collection root lifter. They just changed the bottle a few years ago so I don't know why pantene keeps changing the lines every year it seems. Its so confusing when they really are the same products they are selling.

I'm SO disappointed with this product. I had really high hopes after reading all the great reviews, but this did nothing for my pretty much straight, fine hair. It was literally like I was putting nothing on as far as volumizing goes. And if my hair got the least bit dry, it made it crunchy and frizzy. I really wanted this to work since I was getting so bored with my Redken root lifter, but I guess it's back to the drawing board for me. Maybe if your hair isn't quite so fine it will work better for you.

I like the way it feels and smells in my hair, and I do notice a little lift. Nothing crazy though, so I think if I want big volume I would have to use this with something else to make it really work. But I like the way my hair turns out when I use it, and it doesn't weigh down my hair. Its also not sticky or gummy like some I have used, I can still get my fingers or comb through with no catching. (My hair is super fine and thin, shoulder length - just fyi)

I have loved this product and purchased multiple bottles over the last few years. Works perfectly on my long fine hair to give me some lift and volume. I dry my hair, then lift sections and spray the roots (and sometimes the length), which I then roll onto the very large rollers. I pull out the rollers as soon as I'm done with my makeup. It's been awesome. Hasn't weighed my hair down or caused any flaking. I'm not bothered by the scent.
Walgreen's told me last night that Pantene has just reformulated their entire line and this product has been discontinued. Maybe that's why ALL the Pantene shelves at my local Target, Walmart and Kmart are nearly empty. BIG sad face!
UPDATE: Officially discontinued per Pantene's website. This link is to the list of everything they've discontinued "to make room for our new line:" http://www.pantene.com/en-US/Pages/discontinued-products.aspx

I'm very impressed by this spray gel. I got it for no cost, along with the flat to volume shampoo and conditioner. Don't like the sh/cond. scent, but the spray gel is fine. I have wavy to curly normal to dry hair past my shoulders that I usually air dry, put product in and run out the door. Have been a Kerastase user for a while, but it's hit or miss with those products, and they're expensive for the results. My hair doesn't need volume, so was skeptical of what this gel would do. Tried it first with the sh/cond - looked great, then tried Kerastase's nutridefense cond. with the gel - looks great. Hair is shiny, smooth, has a bit of hold and feels soft. A winner.

This is an awesome volumizer and I dont know why a lot of people didnt like it...I use this after I take a shower and spray onto damp hair and then use Garnier Fructis leave-in conditioner and shine spray, then blow-dry upside down until about 40% dry and then let my hair hair-dry...it always ends up REALLY soft and shiny and gives my hair a little 'umph' which I love!!! And it smells awesome!!! I've tried a lot of volumizers and this one is in 1st place so far. REALLY good product!!

I am very disappointed with this product. I have long fine hair that is slightly oily and this product did little to nothing for me. While using with a blow-dryer and round brush the product would often become flaky and a white residue from the product could be seen. When I tried teasing my hair to get some more volume, the teasing created a huge amount of white flakes from the product. I do not recommend for anyone with slightly oily long fine hair. It is worth the extra money to purchase Pureology or Sexy Hair Concepts Root Lift products, those are the best I have found for my hair type.

I use this product after every hair wash. I life and spray my damp roots and then blowdry upside down. I think it adds a little bit more volume and is ok.

If you like the thickening spray which has been discontinued I recommend trying this stuff. It's got the same ingredients so it really is the same product. It works very well on volumizing my roots but I have to be careful and not apply too much as it can get kind of sticky and hard on my hair.

It's basically hairspray in gel form...and when you put it on your roots, it keeps your roots standing up more than normal but doesn't add much volume for me. I just used it directly on my roots and ran my fingers upwards to try and give my hair a boost and it did a little bit, but eh. Won't repurchase..I'll keep it around though.
EDIT: Now that I actually read the directions..it says " For greater volume, spray liberally all over hair BEFORE styling. Dry thoroughly while hair is flipped upside down."
It could very well be MY fault that this stuff doesn't do what I expect. I blow dry my hair before applying it. Silly me..I'll try it the correct way tomorrow and rate accordingly lol.

My cupboard is full of drugstore products that I've bought, hoping to find a cheap alternative to Bumble and Bumble, then end up storing for a couple of years until I throw them away. Not this - I've actually used it. Of course it's not as good as B&B, but it's serviceable. It's not sticky or drying, and it doesn't weigh my thick but fine hair down. It definitely lifts at the roots when I apply as directed (spray at roots in sections and blowdry). It also gives my hair natural-looking volume and body when I just put 2 or 3 pumps in my palms, run it through wet hair, and go (which is my usual routine). For occasions when I'll spend the time to really style my hair (not just blow-dry but actually get out the big barrel-brush), I'll still use the spendier stuff. But if you're looking for a decent DS product, I've found this to be one.

My hair is really thick, so I wasn't too surprised that this didn't do much for my volume. Nevertheless, it really helps a style to hold (and hold, and hold) throughout the day. I almost couldn't believe how well it worked when I used it all over (applied to wet hair) and then blow dried with a round brush to curl my ends under. I like it much better than hairspray just because of how easy it is to do (no spray in my eyes and mouth, dries with my hair as I work instead of making it laden with spray as I work). It has a nice almost fruity smell to it (though you can smell a little bit of a chemical undertone there). The reason I wouldn't buy it again is that it doesn't do what it is supposed to, volumize and lift at the root for my thick hair and I feel like it goes on a little thick and puts on a lot of build up (since it is a gel) that I don't really want even if it does help me curl my hair under nicely.

I like this product. I blow my hair most of the way. I then roll a section of my hair in a round brush and lift it. I spray the roots at the base of the section I am holding in my brush and then use the blow dryer to dry it. It really works when used this way.
My hair is thick and straight and just above my shoulders.
