This is such a great color for the summer months, the silky satiny color for natually radiant eyes is simply light and simple, and if you like more smokey just add darker grey or simply put a couple of layers for that dramatic look.

This duo gives a very beautiful, steely grey blue look. I am surprised at the relatively low review it has. I love this one, it is colorful without being too over the top. The shadows are very pigmented and have a subtle shimmer to them, safe for work and perfect for nights out. Also, though I love the quality of NARS duos, sometimes the shadows aren't paired very well. These, however, are perfect together. My favorite way to wear Island Fever is to put the gray part on the inner half of my lid, then the blue portion on the outer V and blend it in on the outer half of my lid, giving a lovely blue>steely blue>gray color progression. If you want to add a third color, it would also look good with the gray side as a base color, blue side as crease, and a darker, richer blue (like MAC Deep Truth) in the outer V for drama. Definitely check this out, the colors would look fabulous on everyone.

These shades are very pigmented but very dry. Both have subtle shimmer. One side is a baby blue shade with golden shimmer, the other is a silvery gray. IMO, they just look kind of "meh" on almost everyone.

Its nice for a gal who likes really matte shadow duos. I find myself wearing it to work and thats about it. Its very "responsible" looking. I dont think the name is quite fitting as it brings images of really vibrant colors and I think cubicle fever is more fitting...

I love NARS eyeshadows, just not this one. The pale grey and blue just don't do anything for my NC20 skin and no amount of tweaking and combining with other colors works for me. Additionally, I don't know what it is but for some reason, NARS blue eyeshadows have no staying power on my face. I have slightly oily eyelids that I use primer or Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil on before I apply eyeshadow and anything NARS with blue (Island Fever, Cleo, Elsa) in it just creases and looks a mess. It doesn't happen with MAC or Urban Decay blues so.... :o( May work for someone else, I don't want to discourage anyone from buying NARS eyeshadows because as a whole they are fantastic just don't get this if you are pale skinned.

My first Nars duo (took a long time to pick just ONE and I bought it without seeing it in person!!) I was very happy with what I got. It looks boring, but its really does give you a mature, soft blue look. You can really mess it up though by packing it on really thick. Then you look like a zombie :P
I use the blue over my lids and use the violet/grey shade in the crease. I really like it. I wear it with Nar lip lacquer Butterfield 8.

I was expecting to have to use a light hand with these colors only to find myself doing everything to pack them on! I've given up getting much color out of this duo and and retired Island Fever to "classy chic" mostly for work, unromantic fancy dinners, and days when I'm trying to look mature haha :) They are a bit chalky, though not as bad as Cleo, and the staying power is not great. For a school day (6 hours) I need to reapply. The upside is that the colors are quite flattering, but do not expect drama from this. ALSO USE A BASE! I like MAC Stillife Paint because of the slight shimmer it adds. I have an up close photo in my profile so you can see how washed out this duo an be. I think you could find similar colors and better performance in another line, but I still use this a lot.

this duo just gets an *eh* from me. beautiful in the pan but the colors don't show up very well on my DDD skin. definitely not as pigmented as my mediteranee and cleo duos. i hate to say, this is my least favorite of my nars duos. the only redeeming quality is the shimmery grey side is very nice to use as a light wash for my cool toned eye looks.

Finally a nice duo from NARS! So many have some awkward colors. Island Fever duo is a nice medium gray and a lovely midtone blue that is quite beautiful. The grey is a pretty standard shade but the blue is quite unique. This duo together works great and you are not screaming "80's blue eyeshadow" look. The blue is subtle enough, but you still get enough color, but its not your mother's blue eyeshadow. Looks great with black eyeliner, grey liner, or teal or navy liner. I love it! Retails for $28 and comes packaged in the black rubber case. This is one of my favorite nars shadows.

I must disagree with other reviewers about this duo. The colors look lovely in the pan, and on my eyes they look the same! I apply some loose powder as a base and then go with the light blue as a wash. I use the grey to do a soft smokey eye that I can wear to my job without looking too overdone. It lasts perfectly through the day!
I've even used it for night just using the blue side of Blue Angel as a liner to give it a stronger touch.

I agree with most of these reviews, this color looks awesome in the pallette, and when it's on the lids, it's so much more muted!! I had to re-apply a time or two throughout my day. I still like the colors, tho. Very pretty bluish and greyish shimmery.

the colors are very lovely. the ocean blue has golden flecks in it and the pebble gray is an interesting complimentary color to the blue making it more lively and vibrant. the shades together are just perfect, so you can imagine my disappointment when the color in the pan wasn't the color that showed up on my lids.
as much as i love nars, not all of his eyeshadows are pigmented to the same degree. his eyeshadows are all very inconsistent. once in a while, you stumble upon one packed with color and other times, it's just a big flop. i would say that island fever fits into the latter description. the blue just showed up as a wash. i couldn't even see the golden shimmer. the gray just left a whisper of color. if they had more punch to them, this would have been an amazing pair. these colors are the very epitome of spring/summer, so the fact that it doesn't work makes it doubly frustrating. i know nars can do better than this!

I can’t understand all the bad reviews. I absolutely love this duo! I have always used NARS e/s because the colors are so unique. Though, deep down I knew that I could find better quality from lines like Shu Uemura and Chanel. Maybe it is just me, but I think that the texture and pigment have totally changed-for the better-in the last few collections. The intense peacock blue in the pan is the exact same glistening color that will show up on your eyelids. The taupe grey (similar to Chanel Vega) not only is stunning w/ the blue, but can be used w/ just about every other e/s I own. I wore this duo w/ lots of bronzer and lip gloss and though it is the middle of winter I really did feel exotic.

Lovely MA at Space NK included this as the eye colour in a makeover today and I completely agree with previous comments: the colours - shimmery sea-blue and a muted grey - look gorgeous in the palette and utterly nothing-y on the skin. I'm very PPP and colours generally leap off my skin tone, but the grey looked dull and the blue just vanished. OK, they looked all right as part of a *very* understated scheme, but nothing that would justify spending the horrendous amount for just two colours. And they'd pretty much worn off three hours later, despite LM primer AND LM eye base. Weird. Definitely wouldn't buy.

Can anyone explain to me why NARS eyeshadows look so freakin' pretty in the container, and yet all end up a powdery nothing on my eyelids? I've tried applying them with various eyeshadow brushes dry and wet, over a base, and with my finger. I've never been able to get a NARS shadow to look the same lovely color as in the palette. So I guess it was no surprise that Island Fever yielded the same results. The colors are a dark burnished silver with a slight purple shimmer and a bright sky blue with golden shimmer. Just lovely. However, I was only able to get a tenth of their vibrancy to show up on my eyelids, and I'm a PPP. This is why I don't own any shadows from this line.

The colors in this duo APPEAR to be baby blue and grey. But this is misleading....the baby blue goes on as a soft smokey-greenish hue! Very strange. The grey is lovely though, in my opinion. I applied it with the NARS smudge brush on my lower lid, and dusted the blue(green) on my top lid.....I think the soft grey and green do end up looking ocean-y! Both colors have subtle sparkle. I'd never buy this again though....I have to agree with the others that NARS shadow just isn't the best, (too dry) and for the money they charge, it should be!

Island Fever--the name would evoke some bright exotic colors but no, the colors are blue and gray. Gray?! There's nothing island-ish about gray! Anyway, the duo consists of a sheer matte sky blue (lovely color) and a sheer sparkly medium gray (the sparkles don't show up when on though). They are great colors, but too sheer for me. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to wear them together. Although it does look good when teamed with the Frisky Summer gloss and Mata Hari on the cheeks, I'll be passing on this one.

LOVE this duo. It consists of a soft shimmery periwinkle blue and a shimmery taupe w/hints of bronze. The blue is such a lovely shade for spring. I like to use the blue to completely envelope my lids, lashline, and lower lashline. I then take the taupe and apply it into my crease and lightly into the corners of my eyes. It's amazing what colors NARS creates.

Island Fever is from the Spring 2004 collection. It contains a taupe gray shade and a baby blue shade - both have shimmer. Like most of the other NARS duos, there is many different ways to wear this duo. So far I have worn the gray shade from lashline to browbone, and the baby blue shade in my crease; as well as the gray shade as a wash and the blue on the upper lashline, blended upwards towards my crease. This duo gets an A+ from me!
