Very classic and pure rose scent. I will definitely repurchase. One thing I love about it is that it's a TRUE rose scent and it does NOT change in time. Very beautiful and elegant. Love it! The EDP is $49.50 Cdn before taxes so a bit pricey, however the EDT is $39.50 Cdn before taxes (i think - 10 dollars cheaper). I much prefer the EDP though because it lasts longer and it's stronger. Makes me feel like i'm in a garden of roses - hmmm ... so relaxing! EDIT (Feb 2010): I wouldn't repurchase this because I prefer TBS rose fragrance to this. TBS smells much nicer than this one.

Along with Coco, this is one fragrance that I will never remove from my "scent wardrobe." It is the most true, delicate, and well blended rose fragrance I have smelled and it suits me. It is an intelligent rose, simple and balanced without any cloying sweetness or powdery notes. My boyfriend often complains that he can "taste" my perfume which is his way of telling me it's too strong and he is always able to tolerate (dare I say even enjoy) Evelyn Rose.
C&E makes quality products and in my book, this one is their best.

I love this fragrance. It really is a true rose. I purchased the hatbox set from Crabtree & Evelyn....Shower and Bath gel, Lotion, Talcum powder and parfum pen. I'm not a scent expert, but if you like soft, feminine scents you will like this one.

Got this as a gift.
Powdery romantic rose scent, slightly old fashioned but it doesn't smell synthetic.
I took off 2 lippies: 1 for the price, the other for the fact that I just plain don't like rose fragrances. (I'm more of a vanilla person)
edit: This scent kinda grew on me, and for some reason, if I wear it before I go to bed, I fall asleep faster.
Will repurchase

I'm a big fan of floral scents...and a huge fan of roses...i bought TBS's tea rose perfume oil and ended up returning it because it was too syrupy sweet and cloying...but this one is a fresh rose scent with stems and leaves still intact, you can definitely smell the 'green' in it, not just pure rose essence...I'd love to get myself the fragrance along with the hatbox which includes the bath products and lotions scented in this fragrance. The best rose fragrance I've ever smelt so far. I'm not sure about the staying power though, although I imagine I'd be getting better results if i layered the fragrance with their lotion. kind of expensive...this is a very feminine scent...not at all old-ladyish...this is great for those who are sensitive to stronger fragrances, from the very young to the old...very pleasant and non-offensive. I am a perfume addict and enjoy different kinds of scents, this will always be one of my faves, it's just so delicate and comforting.

I have been looking for rose scent so tried this on at my local C & E store. While it smells nice enough and I have no complaints on the fragrance, it has pretty much zero staying power. I sprayed it both wrists (liberally) in the store and when I got home about 40 minutes later and asked my husband what he thought of it, he said he could not even smell it.

This is a sweet rose. It's not powdery or old fashioned. It's true garden rose and very pleasant. I am a rose fan in general, so maybe I am biased. I did try on this scent on a long time ago, but I must have tried the EDP over the EDT. The EDP is much stronger and less fresh than the EDT. I didn't like it the first time I sniffed it, instant headache, but this version is soft and fresh. I purchased the lotion first. It's quite strong, so I mix it with a more mositurizing unscented cream and it all layers really well. I have tried many roses, even Creed's FdTRB which I don't like as much as this! I guess it helps that my 2 year old's name is Evelyn as well. It's meant to be...

I am very happy with this perfume. It's a simple, kind of classic, rose scent, not overly powdery or overly green. The reason I really like it, though, is that I have trouble wearing most perfumes. They usually react with my chemistry in a way that makes them smell awful, and most of them give me a headache. This is one of the few that doesn't do either. My friend, who also has trouble with perfumes turning on her, has found that this is one of the few she can wear, too. It's a lovely, true rose perfume that's worth trying.

If you want a solid Rose smell, then you have found it. I found this scent about 11 years ago, and I stopped wearing it when I went to college and discovered Guerlain. Now that I'm married and have a new son, I asked for and got a new bottle at X-Mas, and I'm rediscovering my ole love for this romantic scent. It's subtle if you don't overspritz it, I spray and walk through for a hint of scent during the day. I love roses, and I currently have 17 various david austin, hybrid teas, and romantica roses planted around my house. So if you are looking for an honest true romantic rose, you've found it. The scent also doesn't change much with my body chemistry.

I wore this for a long time when I went through my 'roses' phase. Love the classic bottle design and the pink-peach hue of the fragrance therein. Pure, simple rose, with a hint of greenness. I had a David Austin Evelyn rose bush and this is a remarkable recreation. Sadly, I tire of the same fragrance and have moved on to more complex bouquets. Maybe when I'm a little old lady I will return to Evelyn....altho it is not old ladyish in the least.

I bought Evelyn mainly because I love growing David Austin roses. I have 30+ varieties of roses in my garden, most are David Austin English roses. The Evelyn scent does capture the feeling of the garden. Unfortunately, I realize that I don't like the scent on my skin, so I just sniff the bottle occasionally or use it as a room spray.

This is my favourite fragrance of all time!!!!I am a big fan of rose scents and am always on the lookout for them. That said, not all rose perfumes smell good. Many smell good only for a short time upon application, and tend to turn sour after a while. Not Evelyn though! The smell stays fresh and sweet the whole day. And NO!, this is not a granny perfume at all. It is classy and timeless!Love it!

Lovely single-note "fresh" rose scent. It is quite old-fashioned in a feminine way, but not granny-like. I don't get the peach overtone, more a soapy note (but not in a bad bathroom freshner kind of way). I got this on sale but will definitely buy again at full price. Would be a good spring, sunny day fragrance.

This is INCREDIBLY romantic and yummy, on the old-fashioned side. If you want to feel like a Jane Austen heroine, this is a good place to start. It smells exactly like a David Austin Evelyn Rose (which just happens to be my favorite flower in the entire world). My bridesmaids carried English roses in my wedding. Very English-rose & peachy fragrance. Wear this when you want to feel unabashedly feminine and romantic.

Before I discovered Evelyn Rose, I was not a perfume wearer but after smelling this I had to have it. The scent is described as “an elegant floral bouquet of rose, jasmine and violet enhanced with a velvety peach accord.” Since that fateful day, I have purchased the eau de toilette, perfume and body lotion. The perfume lasts 8 plus hours on me compared to 3-4 hours for the lotion and eau de toilette. I can understand how some may associate rose based scents as grandma-ish but every time I wear this, I feel girly and feminine.

Since the first of these reviews were posted a few years back, C&E has reformulated this fragrance, and it was completely unnecessary for them to have have done so. If C&E hadn't fooled around with the original formula, I'd give this fragrance an easy 5 lippies. The original Evelyn was a fabulous rose bouquet with an enticing woodsy drydown and was like smelling a rose bouquet in an expensive antique store, or like coming across a beautiful rose in an enchanted forest. The newer formula, Evelyn Rose, is still nice, but peachier, and the woodsy backdrop is quite muted, if even there. I can't detect it. This is a nice soliflore with decent staying power and without the light green notes some rose scents have. This is still a winner, though the original was superior to this newer version. Wish they'd bring back the original Evelyn.

Wow, if you love roses then this is the scent for you! I had a big bouquet of red roses at my wedding and whenever I wear this gorgeous fragrance I am reminded of the fresh roses of that day. It is the first scent I've found that actually smells like fresh cut roses instead of just a manufactured smell of them. Wow, and it lasts. Everytime I wear it, I get compliments, especially from my hubby!

A nice, "pure" rose fragrance. I happen to love this, but some find it too old lady.
Also try Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria in Rosa Magnifica.
