I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews of this product. It was recommended to me by a Sephora sales rep. My skin gets really oily during the day, especially the T zone. Originally, i was about to buy a similar product from Dr. Murad line, but Sephora in Canada did not have it. When I applied this Caudalie product for the first time, my skin technically soaked it in, right away.I did notice the mattifying effect right away. During the day, I noticed less shine on my face. I'm wearing liquid make-up for oily skin every day and it still gets shiny. I find that this product made a difference..My skin is less shiny and not too dry. I will definetely recommend it for combination to oily skin..If your skin is VERY oily all the time, it might not be the most mattifying cream...My only complaints are of course the price, it is a very small amount of product for the money I paid and I also have sensitive skin and eyes. The perfume in it is a little too strong, I can feel the itchiness in my eyes after I apply this.Overall, I'm not dissapointed so far..Will keep on using it.

I bought this at Nordstrom on sale and have never tried anything Caudalie before. I was very impressed with the effects and feel of this on my skin. I did notice my face was less oily and less oil production means less breakouts so I'm a big fan!! I will buy this agian for sure.

I used this for about a week and this made my face feel oily/greasy. I didn't like the feeling of wearing this. Also it left some of my skin looking dry and peeling looking (even after I exfoliated).

I've been using this product for a few weeks now and I'm not impressed. No matte here, my skin is still shiny. The results aren't quite visible either. Won't buy again.

I also got a sample of this fluid and as it lasted for 4 days (application in the morning and evening) I purchased it to see how the longterm preformance will be. Phew, let me tell you this: 42 Swiss Francs (about 40 $) is really hefty for a 40 ml tube (1.3 fl oz) if youīre a student like me.
Anyway, back to the review: This fluid has a strong herbal scent and I like Caudalies "cosm-ethic":
< no parabens or phenoxyethanol
< titrated extracts with active molecules
< a maximum of natural active ingredients (over 100 extracts from different plants)
< finished products not tested on animals (what does that mean? that they do test it on animals befor they finish it?)
< no ingredients of animal origin
< no mineral oils or colorings
< no sodium laureth sulfate
< the clinical results they claim on volunteers, are proven through scientific evaluations under dermatological supervision
So if you donīt like herbs, this may smell a bit funky to you. The moisture this provides is also good but this has NOTHING to do with mattifying. Honestly, I donīt know, why they call this "matte moisturizing fluid" as it doesnīt mattify at all though itīs a very good moisturizer for oily/combination skin. I also noticed a slight burning sensation shorty after I apply this, but no redness and I donīt apply this around my eyes, as my skin is even more sensitive there. It takes a while until the fluid sinks into the skin and even afterwards I can feel a residue/coat on my face. The funny thing is that despite these two problems it does preform great at the oil-controling-area and evens out the skin very well and makes it plump/firm. Also, the application of my BB cream goes on very smooth and I have to admit, that my skin looks great now, even though Iīve been using this for only a week. But this are all short-term-results, so I will write after a while again how it preformed on my skin. Maybe after I finish the tube? But I have to give it only 4 stars for now, as I donīt think this fluid deserved 5 stars for two reasons: for such a hefty price I except a fluid that sinks deep into the skin without having to wait very long and still having a residue left and I expect NO burning sensations. I wont comment the "matte" thing, all I have to say is that this has nothing to do with it and they should consider changing the name as one can be mislead really fast by it.

Moistuizing Properites - Good. Nothing exceptional. No noticeable difference in my face. Will be going back to my last moisturizer.
Mattification - Awful. My t-zone was very shiny and even my husband asked why I looked "sweaty."
I've found that I either really like some Caudalie products or dislike them entirely. This is one that I dislike. But, because of the excelptional products I have tried and liked very much from this line I will continue trying other items from them. They also have some of the best customer service in the world.

I have sort of become obsessed with Caudalie products and have tried everything in their line. Their products are either really horrible or really great, and all I can say about this particular moisturizer is that it is really horrible. I gave this moisturizer only 3 days because I couldn't handle any more and often found myself running to the bathroom to rinse it off. I have been blessed with very healthy flawless skin and my quest is to find a product that prolongs healthy skin. This product burns every single time I put it on, and I mean every time. It stays on the skin and not in a dewy sort of way but remains sticky without absorbing into the skin and continues to stay lightly sticky for hours as if being in humid weather. The worst this about this product is I don't even rub it near my eyes but somehow this always ends up burning my eyes as well. I personally hate all their moisturizer and eye creams and can't pinpoint what exactly they put in them that makes my face and eyes burn. I now just stick to their oils and serums (which I find really work and are pleasant).

This is quite a good product, but not worth the expensive price. I liked how it instantly made my skin feel fresh and plump, but there are cheaper moisturizers that already do that, that don't leave my skin feeling dry like this one did. Also, if you're looking for a truly mattifying moisturizer, than this is probably not the one for you, because this did not make my skin matte at all. However, I only got a tiny sample size of this, so maybe I didn't use it long enough. I guess I'll never know, because I will not be repurchasing this.

The problem with this product is the name--this moisturizer does not do "matte." If you can look past the mislabeling, it's really fantastic for combo or oily skin. I find that it's more moisturizing than most moisturizers for oily skin, but it doesn't clog my pores or make me look greasy.
I don't use it every day anymore because it is pretty expensive, but when I've got some dry patches or my skin feels tight, I use this. Make up goes on really well over it and I think it does help control oil.
Edit 10/31/09: I'm not using the Vinopure line exclusively anymore. It definitely did help clear up my acne and never caused any break outs, but I'm finding that it's far more expensive and not quite as effective for my skin as a basic Cleanser, Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, and Moisturizer routine. This moisturizer is the one part of the regimen that I will probably repurchase at some point. I would recommend the whole vinopure line to a person with oily or combo skin, minor acne and some $$ to spend--but apparently my skin can benefit from slightly stronger products.

I tried this in a sample jar from Sephora because I wasn't willing to spend the $50+ on it without trying it first. I had very high hopes for the "mattifying" effects here because the SA went on and on about what a strong mattifier it was. My skin seems to LOVE this lotion (it's so soft!! no breakouts!), but it definitely doesn't mattify at all. I have combo-to-oily, relatively acne-prone skin and I'm shiny with this stuff in no time.
I gave this a 3 because it's a perfectly good moisturizer for combination to oily skin, but it really isn't a mattifier. I put "wouldn't buy again" primarily because it costs wayyyyy too much considering I'd also need to buy a separate sunscreen and mattifier.

I received a generous sample from a kind SA at Sephora, and I was really looking forward to trying this - the ingredients looked nice, I was totally seduced by the Caudalie marketing, etc. But I have to say: Not. Matte. No way is this matte. It feels like a gel when applied, and never really has a dry-down. I am left with a sticky layer on my face, and I don't care how therapeutic or nutritious this is, I cannot tolerate it, because I have some pretty oily skin here. The SA was teling me "oh, this is for a truly matte finish" (when compared to the Vinosomething 1st wrinkle fluid). Nope, no how. I am so so so glad I tried this first, rather than my usual read-on-it-forever-then-buy-it-online-then-promptly-put-in-drawer-after-inevitable-disappointment. Total honesty here: save your money if you're looking for something for your oily/combo skin. HTH

I was after a new moisturiser as my current one by Korres was too light and didn't help my t-zone. This moisturiser smelt quite nice, was more of a serum than anything, but left me with itchy red bumps on my face. It was the only new product I had bought recently and after avoiding it for 3 days my rash went away, so it's been taken back to Space NK and swapped.

I used this product (along with Laura Gellar's Welcome Matte) to control oily skin during a recent vacation to Southern Spain.
I normally don't have the need for mattifying products, unless I'm going to be spending a considerable amount of time in the heat/sun. Then, you can expect my face to grease out, and for all makeup to slide right off my face.
That didn't happen while using this product, I'm happy to say! It kept my skin nicely moisturised/balanced, all while keeping my makeup looking smooth and pristine, as if I had just applied it.
I like the thin serum-like consistency, and how it sinks right into the skin. Doesn't interfere with additional moisturisers/sunscreens or makeup, either. No blatant scent.
I will most definitely repurchase this next summer, but for now, the answer will be no. I simply have no use for it in the fall and winter. I don't plan on mucking about outside these next coming months! When I do, this product will definitely be on my must-have list.

I have been trying the Caudalie products lately. I guess I am the minority here but it didn't really work for me. I got a nice size sample of this and decided to replace my normal moisturizer with it. I have very oily acne-prone skin. The moisturizer felt very nice when I initially put it on and the smell is great--all their products have a very nice herbal smell. It didn't help control oil for me and my makeup didn't go on as nice as it usually does. In fact, my face felt more oily than normal at the end of the day. I was very surprised and disappointed.

I was looking for a good lotion that was moisturizing yet kept my skin from getting greasy throughout the day. The SA at Sephora recommened the Caudalie line in general, and gave me a bunch of samples of this. I really liked this product although it really isn't that moisturizing, but it does keep my skin grease free all day. My only complaint is this product doesn't have an SPF, although I have found that most of the best products don't b/c it changes their composition. So to get my SPF, I actually like to use it with Neutrogena summer glow moisturizer w/ SPF 15. I put this on under my foundation, it goes on smooth, makes my skin feel really soft, and makes my foundation easy to apply. It also has a light pleasant scent. It definitely also gives my skin a nice glow. Although the price is steep, I probably will purchase once I run out of samples! Definitely a good buy for summer!

Well, I bought this product on a whim at Sephora because my skin was in need of some major hydration for the winter time, but my usual winter moisturizer, Caudalie Vitamin Pulpee Energizing Cream, can sometimes get a little greasy so I was just wanted to try something else. This is NOT the product that I needed for the winter time, as my skin isn't oily at all, and extremely dried out out the moment (as it is for every winter).
The woman that hyped it up at the store really missed the target on this one, BUT, I can definitely see this as the perfect summer moisturizer! If you have REALLY dry skin in the winter time, this is not the product to be using because it really isn't moisturizing enough, but if you have more oily skin in the summer time (like we all do!) and need that oil absorbency and light moisterizing effect, this is the perfect product for the summertime! I'm just bummed I found this awesome product in the wrong season...back to Sephora I go, and back to Caudalie Vitamin Pulpee Energizing Cream for the winter time!

I found this to be a pretty decent moisturizer for combination/oily skin, although it wasn't quite rich enough to satisfy my neck and under-eye areas. However, I didn't note any particular mattifying effect; by an hour or so after use (under makeup), my skin was as shiny as it is if I use a different moisturizer or none at all. If you're looking for a product to tame oily skin, this is probably not the best choice. It has a pleasant fragrance, and I never experienced any irritation from the one tube I used. However, I won't repurchase it because, aside from the fact that I've found a mattifying moisturizer I prefer (one with sunscreen, to boot!), the price is utterly outrageous for a merely adequate product.
