I guess this product is a case of YMMV. I see a lot of mixed reviews here. I had the Clean&Clear 10% BP which worked just fine when I used it to spot treat, but decided to try something different. Dermologica Special Clearing Booster is only 5% BP so I thought it wouldn't be as drying, but it seemed to be worse for my skin. Also, every time I used it, not only did the pimple not go away, but more surfaced in the surrounding area (mostly chin/jawline for me) but also I started to randomly get pimples on my cheeks and forehead which I usually didn't before this product. I wouldn't purchase it again.

I had a bad experience with this product! I applied a small amount to a few pimples over night, when I woke up the areas that I put the product onto had burnt! My face had bright red circles all over it and it was so painful! It took over a week for my face to heal and then my skin was so dry and flaky. Over all this is not a product I'd recommend to anyone now, which is a shame after reading good reviews before I purchased it. Really disappointing.

I don't know what it is about this particular product, but it just seems to work. I've used tons of bp products, most of which were extremely irritating, drying, and ineffective. This formula is much thinner than the other bp gels I've come across, which I love because at night I'll reapply the bp a few times in the same trouble spots and it doesn't ball up. If I catch a breakout early enough, it'll never completely form. Any old ones that have already formed go away much faster when I apply this religiously over my moisturizers in the morning and at night. Unfortunately, it's pricey (I think I paid about $40 for it), but I only use it as a spot treatment so I still have a ton left, and my main concern (over price) is its effectiveness. I doubt I'll need another one for the next few years-- totally worth avoiding the trouble of having breakouts all over. My favorite bp product!

I didn't like this at first as I thought that it's really useless and doesn't do much until I used this on top of my Retin-a and it works wonder!!! My huge zits just vanished in just one night and those under-the-surface zits are gone too! Maybe it's the retin-a helping it but somehow, this is amazing!

I really like the concept - a BP "booster" I can add to the moisturizer of my choice. However, after 5 weeks of consistent use I could see no visible results. Not worth the money.

ok this is another expensive dermalogica product but of all the spot treatments ive tried (and believe me its many) this is the only one that I really get results with. A small amount applied all over the aresa of concern and by morning you already notice a difference. For best results carry with you and use on spots throughout the day.
I would be this product again but the reason for 4 lippes is that like with alot of products your skin gets used to them and they then no longer work like they have done. I normal finish a bottle and then go to oxy10 then go back seems to be ok!

Thought i would give dermalogica a go seeing as my clinique was drying out my skin no end . I really like this stuff but be wary it can be drying but it speeds up the healing of my spots a lot. As a prevetative hmm not too sure i like to think it does but other products may do the job just as well.

I was attracted to this product as it contains 5% benzoyl peroxide, tea tree oil and zinc all of which is supposed to be great for clearing acne.

It has a slight medical smell and a light texture not so different from other benzoyl peroxide creams. I can feel little lumps in the cream almost as if the benzoyl peroxide or zinc powder hasn't been ground finely enough. It left my skin a little dry and I found it wasn't any more or any less effective than other drugstore benzoyl peroxide creams.

I've now reverted back to a drugstore brand 2.5% BP cream which is far less irritating but works just as well. I think this is one product where a drugstore equivalent works just as well.

This product really does work! Whenever I have a pimple coming up it seems no matter what I use I couldn't fight it off. The instant I saw this bump I put a small dot of it on, being careful since I had read from other reviews that it does leave your face red. When I woke up in the morning the pimple had shrunk but it was red where I had applied it. Nothing that a little foundation couldn't hide. And the day after it was completely gone! It's rather expensive but you need such a small amount, as I wouldn't recommend spreading it over your entire face, so it will last a long time! This is without a doubt the best acne spot treatment I've come across so I'll be keeping it on hand at all times!!

Ok, don't make the same mistake I did by buying this!!! Go to Costco and buy a tube of their 10% benzoyl peroxide for only $1.97...tis twice the strength and oh.......a fraction of the price.

Was really unimpressed by this product, the active ingredient in this is Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, and for what it is it is totally overpriced. I paid about $50AUS for this product, and in Australia you can get several products for less then $20 that contain the same percentage of Benzoyl Peroxide. Not worth the money, didn't help my skin, do not recommend, don't waste your money people!

I just bought this yesterday.I had a huge knot on my temple that hurt and looked gross. The kind that takes months to go away.I was desperate to find something that hadnt been tried on this evil skin of mine! This works! Its been one day of using it and the knot is considerably smaller.Like from the size of a marble to a bb.Im very happy with this!!!

Use Lavender essential oil to calm skin made angry by this product - it works!

Don't get me wrong, this product worked for me, after months of trying to find something to shift my late onset (middle age) acne, but I do agree with other reviewers that it can burn/dry surrounding skin, so I apply it with a cotton bud to get it just on each spot. I do that each night, and each morning I apply lavender oil to the areas where spots have gone, but a dry red mark has been left. My skin is becoming clearer and calmer daily.

I would recommend this product but be very careful when you apply it - it is powerful stuff.

Firstly I had high hopes for this product, having got rave reviews in Beauty Bible here in the UK. I've been having some pretty bad outbreaks recently and a couple of large cystic bumps on my chin at a time. I have been using the anti-bac skin wash and precleanse, plus the oil control lotion which all seem to be working nicely enough. I dabbed a small amount of this booster on a spot and then again 6 hours later (as indicated). The next day the area around the spot started turning brown, hard and flaky. It actually burned my skin and left a brown burn mark of about 2cm wide. For days afterwards while it flaked off and healed, I was left with a massive gross flaky patch next to my mouth (so not attractive!). But in all seriousness, I'm really upset that something could cause such a reaction. I don't have particularly sensitive skin and have used Clinique's clearing moisturiser with the same ingredient for months with no problems. If you intend to use this product I'd only use it every two days. Personally, I won't ever touch the stuff again. And you know what's even worse?? It didn't even burn my spot off. Classic!!

If u have spots that just wont shift this is d product for u. Iv had a breakout on my chin for 3 months and had a sample of d medicated clearing gel which really kickstarted d zit busting process. But this has prevented any from returning and my chin is now completely smooth and spot free. Didnt find it dryin as some people have and althought its expensive if it works its worth every penny and d bottle will last ages i think!!
EDIT. This stuff still fab but go easy on it i was lashin d stuff on and now my skin so dry! It heals them super quick but only tiny tiny bit needed!!

i adore this product. i've been reading som bad review about this product, so i was afraid of buying it at first. but this is great!
on first day, i just mixed around 3 drops of it wit my moisture and kept going lyk tht 4 3 days. bad move, my cheek where it usually brake out were clean, but my chin and lower cheeks were flakey cuz they were too dry.
so what i do now is i moisturise my face and then rub a drop of it on my uppercheeks, around nose and forhead. i havent had a spot since!! well, i kinda did hav, but this product zapped d spot completely in 6 hrs or so.
its the best spot cream ever (an advise: clean&clear DO not work). if you break out in smaller areas (not lyk mine :) just put it straight on d spot, not any other area since this product is a bit drying. what it does to a spot is it dries the oil and turn in into this white, hard er.. thingy (sorry to bring this up, lolz) and stops it from growing. also, makes it a lot easy to extract spots, i was washing my face once and this HUGE clogged oil thingy came out when i pressed my spot very very lightly. (lolz, couldnt keep my hands off it). it is a bit pricey, but its totallly worth every cents and i will buy it again :) as i have not seen a product lyk this anywhere

UPDATE: ive had this bottle for 3 yrs and still half full and works just as well. d best product form dermalogica. i took a lippie out cuz of the price :( i hope i can afford d nxt bottle :)

This is definently a zit busting product; it is a good product but not one I will be purchasing again. I tend to get troublesome white heads on my chin; when they surface it feels like my face is going to split in two. My beautician put a small dollup on my chin, and hey presto, in the morning, my zit was popped, the pain was gone and within a few days my chin was going back to normal. Great. Couple of months down the line, another lovely face splitting zit, so I decided to buy the booster and apply it myself. Big mistake! It touched the surrounding area of my chin, not just the spot, in the morning I had the rawest itchiest skin, it drove me insane. When the spot died eventually I was left with a raw red chin, big bits of skin just hanging off my chin - not a good look; no matter how much I moisturised it took about a week to actually die down. Stupidly I used it again when I got a few breakouts on my back, it drove me mad with itch, big red lumps all over my back, dry skin galore (which I still have on the lower part of my back) and itch all day long. If you are very careful and apply this product directly to the spot then you will be pleased with the results, if not, you will be driven crazy by the itch and redness. Purchase with caution.

This product works for me. Make sure you use it sparingly as it can really dry out the skin. I once applied too much near my lips and it got so dry and itchy that I was simply miserable. Luckily a few days of intense hydration with Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster and hydrating mask healed it. Still my favourite spor treament for my acne prone skin.

Girls, do yourself a favour and do not buy this! It did absolutely nothing for my face and instead made my skin worse. I usually don't scar after getting a zit but this burnt the upper layers of my epidermis and left a dark brown mark where my whitehead used to be. I hate this! I wish I never listened to my beautician when she recommended this, if you want something that works try Dermalogica's medicated clearing gel which works a lot better on whiteheads/blackheads even though its only meant to be used on blackheads. I normally love Dermalogica's products but this one they should get rid off ASAP! Not worth the price, poor packaging and does not live up to its name.
