I absolutely ADORE amber. I will generally mix all other perfumes I wear with a couple drops of it just to feel cozy. Alas, like every other BPAL fragrance I have tried, this smells like cheap, gas station incense. I've tried 18( plus the frimps) and they all stink like cheap potpourri. Spend your money elsewhere if you want a perfume. If you want to smell like a pothead basement dweller, this is the fragrance house for you.

I have never had a perfume, oil or otherwise, that lasted on me like Haunted. I was actually quite shocked when I could still smell it so long after I put it on. It wasn't the faded, soft whiffs you usually get hours later; it actually smelled almost the same as when I had put it on. I think there's some evidence of BPAL's mastery that after hours and hours of body heat and body chemistry, the scent is basically unaltered. I can't say that I am totally in love with the scent because the musk sings a little bit more than I would like, but it is a nice sexy kind of scent that isn't too obvious.

In Vial: Strong Perfume!

Wet: Still perfumy, not as strong. The golden amber begins creeping slowly.

Drydown: Strong Amber with a bite of musk

I love Haunted. It's a warm musky amber scent. It lasts all day on my skin, unlike most perfume oils, which fade in a couple of hours. I'll buy a full sized bottle after I finish my imp.

I love this one .. it's so pretty and it has a lot to do with the amber. If you like L'Instant by Guerlain you will love this. They are very close in smell.

For the first hour on me this smells like a slightly heavier Ammans powder. After that it smells like Ammans powder with a bit of musk. Might be my skin chemistry, I can imagine this being much nicer on someone else.

One of my favorite BPAL scents! Haunted is deliciously sexy. I love anything with amber in it and mixed with dark musk, Hello! It's very long lasting, not powdery at all and it has that elememt of mystery and intrigue that I love so much. Oh, and let me not forget to mention that Haunted drives men mad. :)

It took a while for the lemony scent to come out, but I had to sniff hard to realize it. This reminds me of something my mother would love - she loves anything with amber, if that says anything.

Haunted smells perfectly pleasant to me. I guess I just look for more interest in my bpal scents than this. Powder yes, lemon yes. Later after the top burns off a bit I get powder and musk but a sweet musk not an animalic musk. If you are new to bpal then this might give you faith in the line again--if you have had some bad experiences.

Haunted is musk and lemongrass on me.

At first, I was confused. Smells musky in my Imp...

Then, something citrusy, which to me is pure lemongrass. Like you started gnawing on a stalk of the stuff!

A nice blend, but no big bottle for me.

from funereal oils

notes: Soft golden amber darkened with a touch of murky black musk.

in the vial: amber and musk! its a bit sweet/sour.

wet on skin: this smells headshoppy immediately upon application. dark and incensey. its thankfully not sour on the skin, but it has a pleasant lemony or light accord at the same time. it starts off very heavy but lightens up after a few minutes.

dry down: the powder rears its ugly head. id rather smell like a combination of wind song and shania twains perfume for all of my days than to smell powder even once more. im dramatic like that. its still a bit lemony and almost smells like a tasty baked good under the cloak of heavy amber. the musk is pleasant from beginning to end and isnt stinky in the least.

verdict: amber and musk seem to love my chemistry as often as not. my nose was not looking forward to trying this particular blend because i knew immediately that it would be too powdery for me. i can mostly see how this fragrance is a favorite- its beautiful, but i just dont like it.

A mournful, poignant scent, thick with foreboding. Soft golden amber darkened with a touch of murky black musk.

BPAL ambers and musks are really hit-and-miss for me. This one is a miss. The scent is very light and barely shows up on my skin. I would be hard-pressed to believe there is not a touch of lemon/citrus in this blend, because wet on my skin, that is the predominant scent -- citrus that's grounded by the musk. As it dries, the citrus scent clashes with the amber and creates a "scentual" experience that is to beautiful fragrance as a room full of pre-schoolers playing marching-band instruments is to a beautiful symphony. It's strange, startling, and noisy, making me raise an eyebrow and wonder what the heck happened here. Fortunately for me, the scent stays close to the skin and lasts only 60-90 minutes at most. I will be swapping this one away!

This is the second BPAL amber fragrance I've tried (The Lion being the first), and I'm afraid my skin just eats amber and makes it disappear. The Lion, for instance, is just Big Red cinnamon gum on me. Haunted is interesting--upon initial application, it smelled really perfumey in a powdery sort of way, but then I think it's the musk that got really strong. It overpowered everything else and I actually had to try to wash it off with soap to tone it down (now it isn't stinging my nose as bad; I didn't think I'd put that much on either). I don't get any citrus from this at all. Something about it seems similar to O--for me, it's the powdery aspect of Haunted, so maybe that's the amber? It's really beautiful in the bottle though, so I think it's just that it doesn't agree with my skin chemistry; I can understand why this would work on other people. Just not me.

I again received this freebie imp from the Lab..thank you!!!

Haunted was something I would not have thought to try..simply because amber and I have a somewhat shaky relationship..however lately..by way of BPAL I learning to be more open minded with this particular note. Musks, especially the darker ones, have never done well on me..but I figured I gotta try..take the leap and see what happens...

Sniffed from imp: I get the amber...and I guess the musk...beautiful together in the vial..I don't get overwhelming animalistic vibes from the musk...so far the only thing to evoke that for me is civet..but there is nothing in this that I register as animalistic..at least overbearingly so...

Applied wet on skin: It's all amber and musk...but ChupaChup also stated there is a whisper of something like lemon...I register this too..but I don't get the Lemon Pledge lemon..no,no,no..it is a fresh albeit very soft whisper of the lemon on the tail end..like I get it at the back of my throat when I inhale deeply...I don't usually like lemon in my fragrance but this smells so unbelievable...golden, deep and provocative. It definitely makes me want to sniff my arm more and more...

A couple minutes dry/drying on skin: The whisper of lemon is gone..and I am left with the amber and musk...it is really beautiful..as many other reviewers have stated, the notes meld wonderfully together.

Dry: It's roundedness has softened..leaving me with soft sweet spicyness...this is the amber I believe..which I never, NEVER thought I could grow to love so much. Darn you BPAL...I am forever besotted with your amber blends...

This has unbelievable throw and lasting power...WOW...but then again my skin seems to be loving amber...

I also never thought I could do black musk..just goes to show you..a dog can learn a new trick..YAY

Bottom Line: I so LOVE this imp...I am seriously thinking about getting this. For me, this is definitely a fall/winter scent. Golden goodness that, when worn, could haunt the wearer and anyone else for that matter..it catches you off guard..and makes you want more of it..

This is apparently an HG BPAL for many people, sychophantic to the maker; i.e. people who say 'beth this' and 'beth that' on the boards. Whatever; it's a heavily ambered scent, if you can wear amber you'll most likely enjoy it! On me amber goes wacko, burned, oily, scorched.. lemon.. pledge? i smell like a lemon holocaust. other than that, not "dark", methinks, and definitely not good. don't lemming this full size unless you know if you can wear amber or not, try an imp and test!

On me, this fragrance is powderpowderpowderpowderpowder. No musk, no amber, nothing but slightly stale baby powder from top-to-bottom. Truthfully, I find it rather creepy. I'm not sure why. I guess that's why they call it "Haunted", then.

I don't usually like "powdery" at all, so the reason that this got a 4 instead of a 5 is because it does have a powdery aura to it. However, the basics are exactly as described: amber and musk. The amber started out stronger on me, warm and cozy, but tempered with that powdery/dustiness, like an attic with the sunbeams coming through a window. The drydown, several hours later, is almost like Old Spice in its pleasant muskiness. All in all an enjoyable experience.

i have to say first that i am not usually a fan of strong orientals to begin with (except angel), and it was an extra given to me in a swap. it was sweet in the vial, so off to a good start...turned almost instantly into opium/ obsession, then about 10 minutes into drydown, was the same "grown-up baby powder" that alot of the BPAL oils morph into. i would say if the combination of big red chewing gum & baby powder appeals to you, then you have found your holy grail in haunted.

I didn't like this one the first two times I tried it on, but I have it another shot since so many MUA'ers seemed to enjoy it. I still get a lot of powder when it's wet, not sure why. But the drydown isn't dark and forboding as the name would have you believe. On me it's more amber than musk and if you can survive to the drydown, you'll be pleased if you're a lover of amber. I am kind of ambivalent on this one.
