Snow White was one of the first BPALs I looked for on eBay. It was also my first LE 5ml bottle that I purchased. Snow White is very pretty, and even though there's no apples, it definitely evokes its namesake character. On me, it smells like vanilla, snow and a touch of sweetened coconut. (Not like the dry kind you get in a package at the supermarket. Like if fresh coconut and sugar kissed under a vanilla tree.) It is light and creamy, and very evocative of the winter season during which it comes out. It is a favorite each year, but my bottle is '07 and has been aged. If she returns this Yule, I will probably get a new bottle so that I can age it.

This is my review for the 2005 version.

In the Imp: Nothing too special.

Wet : This has an incredibly long "wet" period on me and just won't dry off. So far it smells like slightly unpleasant almond men's cologne.

Dry : I'm still getting way too much almond from this. I will admit that it's become nicer and softer however.

Over All : I'm so up in the air about this one. On one hand I want to say its awful and I hate it and on the other I want to say there's just something really horribly unique about it

Big Bottle Worthy :

I tried putting this up to my nose several hours later and it had mellowed out a great deal and turned into something that I think I could give my heart to. It's sweet without being too sweet, and sharp without being stomach turning. The thing I've come to realize about Snow White is that she's different. She has such a unique smell about her that you can't come to her with any preconceptions about how this will and will not smell on you.

I'll go ahead and change my answer to "yes" on the Big Bottle Worthy part since I seem to be falling for this, but its a different kind of love, unlike anything else in the catalogue.

Since writing this review I have completely changed my opinion. Shortly after I got rid of my sample, I found myself craving this scent. So I bought another vial to try and shortly after, a bottle. I wear this almost every night to bed, I truly find it comforting. It is different from most things I have smelled. It is warm and soft, creamy without being foody. When I wear it I feel at peace. I never want to be without it.

2007 Version

In Vial: Vanilla almond floral

Wet: Mostly Vanilla with a hint of almond

Drydown: I am now getting the coolness of the snow and wintry wind, with light florals in the background and the warmth of vanilla and almond.

I would not buy this again because although it is a nice fragrance there are similiar that BPAL make that I like better.

2005 version:
This is indeed a very unique scent! Reminds me a bit of Chaste Moon, actually, another scent where it's almost impossible to identify what's in it. It's been mentioned there's some kind of "lily-musk" in here (which sounds absolutely lovely, by the way!), but I get no flowers, no musk, no coconut or almonds or anything. It's a cool scent, but cool in a very gentle sort of way, like powdery snow minus the chill in the air. Lovely, and utterly one-of-a-kind!

This is a review for the 2005 version of Snow White.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but this scent simply did not work for me at all.

I received an imp of Snow White a while ago, and I just decided to test it yesterday since there are many raving reviews for this scent. I really wanted to love it like everyone else, but something in it does not agree with my skin chemistry. Snow White was not especially appealing to me in the bottle, and when I tested it on my skin, I was immediately mauled by a major headache. It definitely smelled like a winter scent - it smelled like ice (if that's possible). Others mentioned how it smelled like vanilla, honey, milk, mint, snow, etc; however, all I got was plastic. Plastic snow. I finally experienced the dreaded "play-doh" phenomenon that everyone was talking about.

Unfortunately, even thinking about Snow White gives me a headache. So, I'm definitely not going to buy a bottle of the new 2007 version. I'm glad that Snow White seems to work for many people, but it's just not for me.

This is the first BPAL I've ever purchased so my hopes were high. I know that BPAL's change and evolve as you wear them so I have kept sniffing since application. At first I was like "eh, what's the big deal about this one"? I didn't smell anything "cold" about it. I think I smelled something slightly leathery yet sweet. Could there be a plum note? I kept sniffing...suddenly I began to smell something absolutely lovely. My favorite fragrance is Escada Collection, which you may know has been discontinued for a little while now. Snow White has morphed into a lighter, less sharp version of my beloved EC! (At least it does to my nose!) The drydown of Snow White is beautiful. By the way this is the Yuletide 2007 version. Would definitely repurchase!!!

I find this scent to be so unique. If there is a similar scent out there, I haven’t come across it! It’s just so soft and beautiful. Slightly creamy, great for Winter. Oddly it smells like play-dough on some people, skin chemistry I guess. Sadly it’s a limited edition and usually goes for $30 for a small bottle on ebay.

snow white 2005

notes: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers.

in the vial: almond, fresh snow, ozone, water, and something slightly sweet and candied.

wet on skin: predominantly almond, but of an unusual and interesting variety. it doesnt smell like real almonds or artificial almonds, but like home made marzipan. (the almond smell of marzipan somehow morphs into something more complex and much tastier.) the second half of the scent is comprised of the perfume version of what snow/water smell like, which gives it an ethereal quality.

dry down: still the beautiful almond/water, and i (surprisingly - i never manage to pick these things out) finally get a hint of night blooming flower, namely beauty under the moon. its hard to describe, but youd know it anywhere if you have memories of its scent.

verdict: this is my absolute favorite scent from BPAL, and ive tried quite a few. its surprisingly light and very fun to wear

My name means snow and playing with various translations of this word has been a fun thing for years. Perhaps for that fanciful reason alone, and perhaps also to find a wearable non-intrusive light scent, I really wanted to like this fragrance! However, I find it completely underwhelming. It is a cruder version of Eclix without the sparkling citrus topnotes, and the drydown is a one-note song without depth, complexity, or any real twists to make the fragrance memorable. Snow White reduces what could have been a fresh, ephemeral scent into essentially white cotton candy - pleasant enough, but without even the color to augment monotonous sweetness.

Snow White is very soft and beautiful. Unfortunately, it's too white and subtle for my taste. I like florals with a little more pizzaz. I hae no idea what notes are in it, but it is very pretty, and it layers really well with some other scents. I love layering it with Midwinter's Eve as it helps round out the sharp sweetness of the Midwinter's Eve sugar plum, and the Midwinter's Eve gives Snow White a little bit of Oomph! that's it's otherwise lacking. I will finish the imp I have of it, but decided it wasn't worth purchasing a full bottle.

Snow White 2005

Really, there isn't anything I can add to Snow White's reviews about how it smells--I'm not that familiar with the different notes and I can't really pick too much out of this one.

But what I *can* say is that I love this fragrance. Absolutely, positively love love. I truly have no idea what is in this, but it smells fabulous in the bottle as well as on my skin, and it doesn't turn into something disagreeable (which for me, is absolutely amazing). Even when I can discern a plasticky smell, it *works*. And I can still smell a bit of it overnight. So far, my top catalog scents would be March Hare, Embalming Fluid and Dorian, and my top LE scents would be this, Midway and Numb (for comparison's sake, I've also tried Mi-Go-Brain Cannister, Milk Moon, Flower Moon, Samhain, Devil's Night, Sugar Skull, Jacob's Ladder, Stardust, Rose Red, Mistletoe and Lick It). But I haven't found anything else, in the GC or LEs, that I love nearly as much as Snow White. And when I say love, I mean would buy again in a heart beat. If Snow White *were* in the GC, I'd probably make it my "signature" fragrance (it's just so friggin' amazing), but it's not, so I'll just hope it's available next year. Oh, I love this one. I really, really love her.

Limited Edition ~ Yule 2004 ~ A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers.
Everything about Snow White is pure, soft and beautiful; but it’s taken me almost a year to fully appreciate its exquisite beauty. When I first smelt it, I'd never before experienced anything similar; my fragrant adventures hadn't taken me down this trail of notes before. All I could see were pretty pale yellows and greens. As for actual notes, I was completely stumped. The reviews helped a little, I could smell a touch of very light almond and fresh cut green stems. The other notes though? Coconut? Maybe very light coconut shavings. Crisp green apples? Maybe!

Now, wearing again almost a year later, the notes are still quite elusive to me - is that mystery Lily musk tiptoeing about in there? - I sometimes get a very light creamy lemon and a whisper of flowers, and sometimes in the sillage I get vanilla beans, but not close up. And having smelt quite a few more scents this year, though none of these are really like Snow White, I'm reminded of the delicate almond flower note in Gabriele Strehle Strenesse and L'Occitane's Almond Blossom Dew, and I'm wondering if there's some heliotrope in there (which is also in Strenesse and Boucheron Jaipur Saphir). In fact, the drydown of Jaipur Saphir is a little similar to Snow White.

Deciphering of notes aside, this is an absolutely gorgeous scent. It's wonderful in the warmer months as it really does have that chilly feel and a unique freshness, but it’s also soft and comforting.

After reading the reviews on this one I thought this was going to be for me, but somehow I missed the appeal of this..I didnt smell the coconut at all the way others seem to have described it. It was a soft fragrance but nothing special.

Sorry to be a downer here but I just don't see the appeal. It's actually one of the better fragrances by BPAL that I've tried, most are so sickly sweet that I end up washing them away soon after application. This one has a minty/almondy bite that reminds me of L'Artisan's Jour de Fete. The coconut is here, but it's not the same lush coconut that you find in DSH Black Coconut of Yosh Ginger Ciao. This one's kind of dry. This is a clean, linear, and boring fragrance. Well, that's my opinion at least. I'm giving my imp away to someone who will appreciate this much more. Limited edition.

Snow White is pristine, cool, and beautiful. A clean, slushy white floral musk tinged with almond and coconut. Stunning and unique --> I hope she returns again and again each year.

When I first put this on, I was a bit disappointed with it as it was too light for me and I actually prefer heavier scents. I kept thinking maybe if I actually bathed in it, it might work. My perfume style is oddly extroverted for my personality type, and I like to share my scent with everyone...whether they like it or not. So a scent only I can smell when I think about smelling it, no matter how pretty, doesn't hold much appeal.

Fortunately (and surprisingly!), Snow White bloomed on me right after it dried. Wet it was just a sweet wisp of a scent, but once it dried, the notes just billowed out in waves, enveloping me in a marshmallow cloud. And then Snow White and I were in love. This is such a sweet, fluffy, gentle scent. It didn't smell cold to me at all, and while it wasn't warm, it did make me think of being wrapped in a blanket.

The scent itself smelled mainly of almond and vanilla, laced with coconut. I could smell a bit of mint, but just a whisper of it every now and then. It did remind me of Dana, though it was less green in its finish and I liked it much better. The scent lasted surprisingly long and had great throw, so all around, Snow White's a winner!

So glad I bought two bottles of this! It's too gorgeous for words and has definitely made it into my top ten!

This has to be one of the most interesting, unique and beautiful fragrances I have ever stumbled across. A dear MUA-er let me sample hers, and I was smitten from the moment I sniffed the bottle until I washed the remaining traces of it off of my skin. It's hard to describe, because it's got a freshness to it, but I don't detect any ozone; it has floral elements, but they are soft and I can't identify the flower, and yet it smells nearly edible. Probably like walking out on a pristine day in the mountains and picking up a handful of fresh snow. The freshness and coldness of the air combined with the watery dewy deliciousness of the fresh snow. I think this scent is brilliantly formulated, and I will be purchasing it when it comes back around again.

Snow White is very linear on me - it doesn't change from the wet application to what I can still smell of it 10 hours later (yep, it's very long-lasting). It somehow manages, without being minty or sharp, to capture the bite that you feel and smell when you walk outdoors on a really cold day. I think that's the coconut. It doesn't do what coconut usually does on me, which is turn into a plastic scent. Nor does it smell tropical. Just cold. I can't identify any florals as such. This really smells just like snow.
