My husband once worked in a high school. On my behalf, he once chased a woman's trail through the school hallways, so that he could ask her perfume's name -- which he thought was *outstanding* -- and report it to me.

As he described to me later that evening, he speed-walked down many a hallway, chasing her trail, which he thought was awesome, before losing her. He did catch up with her daughter, however -- who told him her mother had been wearing Cool Water for Women. So my husband reported it to me.

Not a Cool Water lover, I dragged out my mini and tried it again -- no, it's not really for me, even though it once got me a big compliment in a golf course restaurant on a very hot day. It's just okay, but not soft and sensuous enough -- too "hard" or something. In the aquatic realm, I much prefer the softer & skin-muskier Ralph Lauren Blue, Eclat d'Arpege, and Light Blue.

I remember my first experience with Cool Water about 10 years ago...man did I hate this smell! It was awful, the citrus smell was so strong that it would have the same effect as sour candies: mouth watering and the feeling that my ears were ready to fall off, just like when you see a juicy lemon!
But now, for some strange reason this fragrance is in my permanent perfume collection! I have to have it! I like its freshness and citrus smell it's the perfect fragrance for a very hot summer day when all my dear vanilla based ones would seem to be too heavy and over the top. It's also my go-to daytime perfume during the week.
It's hard to find the perfect fresh fragrance without falling into the masculine aftershave/cologne's scents or having a fragrance that fades away too fast (or worse, the cheap hotels' "Shower gel & Shampoo" kind of smell). I am also very thankful that it doesn't have the typical powdery smell most "fresh" fragrances have.
3 lippies because I don't get excited by it or anything. I like it, smells nice and clean and chic but I don't have the "absolutely loving it" feeling that gets 5 lippies.
Will buy again.

I usually purchase this one when i find it on offer (and it is usually on offer quite frequently).
It has a nice light scent and is perfect for everyday use, in the office etc. The price is pretty reasonable too.
Only disadvantage is that it doesn't last all day and you do need to top it up quite often.

This is a good fragrance for wearing to the office, fresh but not too overpowering or floral. I do find that it does fade towards the end of the day.

It is a decent perfume. It smells rather generic, not unpleasant, but it is nothing unique. The bottle is nice enough but the lid is plastic and cracked with use.

This used to be my favorite scent as I favor aquatic fragrances. But this is so old and dated and there are a fresher scents out there to choose from. Moreover, I've observed that there are a lot of scents that are similar to this one and it's very hard to figure out the difference.

I am also surprised by those negative reviews , but as a reviewer here (very honestly ) noted ; It's a perfume you either love or hate , nothing in between at all !!
I am in my 30's but this perfume didn't define the 90's for me..I was a teen and Versace "Red Jeans" was the hype then , or to be specific anything Versace was ...This was kept for classic styles or "Brand" buyer .
This perfume is not sophisticated but it DOES get attention from guys more than any other fragrance , this was tested and proved many times for me and another friend wo used to wear it ...It may be the patchoulli notes in it ..However , though it gets a lot of attention it's the perfect smell for any working woman , and it won't make her look in anyway un-professional ;)

As others have said, it's watery, fresh, floral. Still pretty strong, though; a little lasts a long time. Always gets me compliments. It's not amazing enough to merit a 5 from me, but still nice enough to repurchase every now and then.

One of my all time favorite! The fresh aquatic fragrance is very uplifting and summery and it smells gorgeous on my skin. Not overpowering and lasts reasonably long (4 hours or so, of course longer would be better, but's it's okay). I always get compliments when I wear this. I can see why this fragrance might not appeal to a lot of women because it's not as feminine as we understand it. I think it's great for adventurous and young souls who love to try out something fresh and different without looking like they are trying too hard.

"That smells so good on you, that's dangerous!"...What my sweets says when I wear this light beachy perfume. I have the EDT version. Not heavy at all, but lasts a good 7 hours on me. I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that this scent does not seem to evolve. For me, that is a huge plus. Office appropriate. Very affordable. I wear this for most any occasion being I love it. Besides, I hear so many guys comment on how they hate when women seem to bathe themselves in heavy "old ladies" perfume for evenings out. May not be for everyone, but with the right chemistry it's beautiful and feminine.

This was one of the early perfumes with aquatic, or water notes that hit the market in the late 80's. The note became extremely popular over the next 10 years, and still lives as a background note (not tech term!) in the common fragrance landscape. Calvin Klein Escape, Christian Dior Dune and Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey are 3 more very popular early 1990s water fragrances. It is one of the newest fragrance categories according to Michael Edwards fragrance wheel, and it appears that the technical term for it is Calone. It was very influential in the 1990's - you could smell it everywhere. Even today, many B & BW scents have this somewhere in their background.

It's one of those notes you either love or hate.

I hate it. With a passion. I've seen it described here in the terms that I experience it: "makes my teeth ache" "a sharp scent that travels to the brain" "sharp, metallic scent" "makes my head immediately ache". I wonder if some of us not only don't like it but have an allergic reaction - or at least strong chemical response to it (perhaps that's another way of saying allergic reaction)

I'm very happy that the common fragrance landscape has moved on to embrace citrus, green and fruity notes. Although, others may have similar horrible responses to these newer notes.... oh well...!

I'm on my 3rd bottle of this, and I usually tend to wear this in the summer or when I don't wear D&G Light Blue. Discovered this while working retail in high school, and have loved ever since. Also LOVE the men's version. I love the fresh, aquatic fragrance that it gives, though I'll take one lipstick away because it doesn't seem to last as long as I'd like it to unless I spray a lot on. This scent will always be distinctive and timeless to me!

Used to love it in the 'good ol' days' but kinda grew out of it...and now I can't stand it! Its a fresh cologne fragrance...that I used to use in the daytime...wouldn't use it anymore, though...cute simple bottle and u can really get down to the last drop easily!

I bought this in high school and I liked it when I first got it but then it started to give me a headache. It almost smelled like a cheap aquatic men's cologne. It also started to remind me of bug's spray.

I used this in high school shortly after it was first available. It's a good aquatic scent as far as those go- it seems that not many aquatic scents blend well with a person's natural body chemistry but this does a fair job.
Great for summer, it would be out of place in other seasons. So to me it's wearability is limited. Not something you'd want to wear to a formal event.
It's a carefree, young fragrance.

i received it as a gift and i didnt like it when i first smelled it in the store. i didnt think much of it. since i always gravitated towards those super super sweet girly scent. This is not. thinking that it was something exceptional to my collection, i kept it and started using it sparingly. It is not as "spicy" as other aquatic scents which i dislike. it is quite neutrally feminine. The more i used it, the more appealing it has become to me. It does not scream out sweetness, which i consider something special. It is neutral enough to use in any occasion, work, class, meeting with friends. Meanwhile it also kept itself feminine just right so that i could also use it for nightouts and dates. Compared to those super girly scent, i think this is something that when a guy smells itl, he wouldnt think i am trying too hard:)
