I have this in the #2 and I think ideally I would try perhaps another colour because though this is very nice on me I suspect there are other colours that might flatter me even more.
These lipsticks have a really lovely texture. If you smear a bit on your hand there is very little colour to see but on your lips you get a really natural soft renaissance stain of colour.
I think it is a hugely muted soft coppery dull red brown not unlike the vincent longo cherry colour. I would prefer a little bit more pink to the colour as cherry stains just make my lips darker but I know lots of girls like them.

Stephane Marais, this is a direct address to you: you created the most elegant, effective, aesthetic, and practical lip cosmetic I have ever encountered, BY FAR! This baume wears like a dream come true; applies easily and *actually* sheerly, is the perfect texture (netiher tacky nor slippery), moisturizes, lasts a very long time, and when it finally wears away, leaves a lovely stain of what is, for me, the perfect my-lips-but-better-and-a-little-brighter color. I have this in #2, which is a appears brownish red with gold flecks in the tube, but applied lightly on my highly pigmented lips gives a sheer, subtle warm cherry golden pop that gets me rave compliments, yet all the while is subtle enough to seem almost natural. The tube is a stunning metal cannister with lovely deco on the top, which fits snugly to the base and does not come loose in my bag. Stephane, please come back to life! I wear Chantecaille too for color variety, but I prefer the Marais Baume by far...

$25 and worth every penny! (The regular formula lipsticks are $22.) My new favorite sheer lipstick. I thought that Armani was my un-toppable favorite. That just shows you that records are just made to be broken! I also thought I'd never spend more than $23 on a lipstick, but that's before I bought my first glossimer! ;-)
Slight chemical taste on application, which fades quickly. Feels moisturizing but not heavy at all! Smooth application! Awesome pigmentation, but still translucent! Aaaand... it lasts much longer than any sheer lipstick I've ever tried! This is something that I need in a lipstick! My lipstick seems to always fade in an hour, and I don't have time to keep reapplying anymore!
I need more, more, more Marais!
The color I have for the moment is #6... (don't worry, #6 will soon have many brothers and sisters!) in the tube, it's rather a dark deep brown-based berry with a hint of gold shimmer. It vaguely reminded me of my old never-fail lip color favorite, Stila Luce! I have been desperately looking for an updated version of Luce, and I found it! On the lips, the color is a beautiful translucent rosy-brown. It doesn't really have the mauve undertone that Luce had, but its tranlucency makes it special... I've never found a rose-brown that had that characteristic! And the subtle gold shimmer just was perfect! It really was what I wanted in an updated Luce... Luce was beginning to feel to heavy, too matte for me. This was perfect! My bank account is in trouble! What a wicked(ly wonderful) man you are, Stephane Marais!

This is for the Sheer #2, a very, very sheer red brown with some gold shimmer in it. If you're looking for a "no lip" look, this is it. Very moisturizing, good slip, definitely a great product.

Comes in three shades but this is the review for #1. A translucent and slightly mauve pink sheer shade. Very moisturizing. Perfect for no makeup days or when you need a little mositurizing on the go. Excellent alternative to tube lip balm.
