Nothing but nothing makes my green eyes greener than Root Beer. Does not show up as any real shimmer on me more on the matte side which I love. Just a really beautiful shadow.

RootBeer: officially this shade has been described as "shimmer" and it is. A very safe color to use during the daytime. Perfect transitional color. Over blending this color will cause the color to disappear.
The color of Rootbeer is best described as a marriage of brown milk, dash of gray, and a pinch of purple. Sheer- light medium wash of color.

On MY skin, this color comes off a little bit like smut, not Satin Taupe. Its a dark purpleish, brownish color. It gorgeous for a during the day smokey eye. It doesn't look like much in the pan, but it is gorgeous on. You may want to try it with a little bit of Brownscript above the crease. Its really pretty.

This is the perfect brown with a touch of purple for us blue eyed women. It doesn't look like much in the container but anyone with blue eyes will notice their blue eyes pop when they use this shadow. The only problem I have is although the consistence is finely milled and pretty much perfect after it is about half used the shadow crumbles in the container causing waste, but it is so reasonably priced I just buy several at one time. Other than the crumbling and wastage it is on par with very expensive eye shadows I have used. This is a great everyday shadow when I don't want to spend a lot of time getting made up but still want to look good. I inherited puffy lids and using this from the crease slightly up toward my eyebrows and blending and then adding a little more at the outside edge above my crease helps define my eyelids and minimizes the appearance of puffiness. This shadow used to be sold at my local drugstore but now I buy it online. I can no longer find it locally.

One of my favourite eyeshadow colours! I apply it lightly during daytime and use a bit more for a nice smokey eye look. Pops out my green eyes nicely as well!

I am sure the other reviews mention this, but NYX Root Beer is an almost-exact dupe of MAC Moth Brown, which is terribly HTF. I have swatched the two side by side, and while they look different in the pan, the payoff, color and finish are nearly identical. The difference is that Root Beer is far less expensive and not impossible to find. I find the quality of NYX eyeshadow singles to generally be on par with "mid-end" brands like MAC and Urban Decay, especially if you use a primer.

I really like the texture and pigmentation of this eyeshadow, it has a nice soft satin finish and blends beautifully.
It is quite a cool colour and swatches nicely on my hand, though once its on my eyes the colour pulls more towards gray than brown. Unfortunatly I much prefer warmer tones on me and have to be careful what I pair this with: too cold a colour and the whole look is wrong for me, too warm a colour brings out the ashy grayness more and makes it look wrong again.
Im so torn with this colour! maybe I will find its perfect mate one day. Any suggestions?

one of my go-to eye shadow! when you are in rush, you can just put a primer and put this on top + blend you will look just polished! can be used for eye brows..overall, good price and packaging. It's also easy to blend. it's a definite must have

I agree wholeheartedly with the general raves for this shade. My favorite thing about it is the way it pops out the green in my hazel eyes. And the texture and blendability is to die for!! I know I'll be getting lots of use out of this shadow, and will definitely repurchase when I run out!

I've finally found my HG crease color! Root Beer is a gorgeous med-dark brown with a hint of grey and a pink undertone. My skin tone is neutral but leans slightly cool, so this is perfect for me. Very warm toned people may find this pulls too grey for them, but on me it's the perfect neutral brown. It has a soft, buttery texture and is very blendable. It isn't an all-out shimmer/frost shadow, but does have a pretty sheen. The color payoff is great. It's very reasonably priced - about $4.99. The only problem I have is that NYX products can sometimes be hard to find. The only place close to me that carries NYX is my local ULTA - and they don't have the full collection, including this color. I found this at a Perfumania in an outlet mall which was about an hour away. NYX is readily available online, but they're swatches are garbage. So if you're a try-before-you-buy kinda girl, it may be tough to get your hands on. Other than that, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

This is a nice brown color that's on the cool side. I love the formula like all NYX single eyeshadows. It is highly pigmented, blends easily and stays put. Packaging is nice aswell. Price is even better. Can't beat it.

OMG, I have found my HG eye shadow. I’m olived skinned NC40-42 with dark brown eyes. I have tried the smokey eye look many times using black, brown, taupe (you name it!) eye shadow. Due to my skin colour taupe and brown will just disappear. Black sometimes can be too harsh and goth like.
So came NYX Root Beer, a wonderful dark gray + taupe + hint of maroon colour. The texture is amazing, makes you look expensive like what said some of the previous review. You can pair this with any white base highlighter and just this colour all over the lid.
Needless to say I love love love love this colour.

I LOVE nyx products and even though this is a great colour, beware, its not for everyone.. infact its not for a lot of people. Its looks scrumptious in the pot but when swatched on the skin, it is more on the ashy side of brown. Its NOT a warm brown or true brown. Some say it isnt taupey but it is. Taupe is grey and brown and thats exactly what this is. Some taupes are warm but this is not. The gal below me said she has cool skin and I think it would be PERFECT for cool skin but I have very warm skin, lots of yellow olive undertone and it DOES NOT look good on me at all. Since ALOT of people have yellow undertone, id opt for another color for a medium brown. I love nyx and I love how this one looks on cool skin and in the pot but definately not for me or most tanned or olive skin people. Hope this review helps!! :)

i've been searching for a brown to go with my cool skin tone!!! finally found it!!! this color is fantastic! it looks more grey when you use Milk as a base, but even without milk it's a beautiful color! its like two shadows for the price of one, at least on my skin tone. this goes great with a little black in the crease for a night time look, I went walking in humid san antonio for 40 minutes tonight and my makeup looks as fresh as it did this morning!!! NYX is the stuff of dreams! I cannot wait to try out this shadow with iced mocha! i think it would be the perfect crease shade with iced mocha!!!! i could not be happier with this product :)
jan 2011 -this just in! just tried this as a crease shade with stila's kitten and the result just blew me off my feet! this is the perfect shade to go with kitten!!!!!! i've been looking for something to go as a crease shade and this is a winner! it looks so classy and elegant since this has almost a subtle purple to it. its beautiful, try this!

This is the first NYX eyeshadow I own at the moment. The eyeshadow is really easily to blend and is very pigmented. As that being said... I am looking forward to purchase more NYX shadows in the future since I am so happy with the texture & color of Root Beer.
BTW...The shade is similar to Mac's Satin Taupe.

Root Beer is my go to brown for daily wear ~ outside of the office. I wear it with Champagne and it's a beautiful combo. This is listed as "shimmer", but it looks more matte to me. For the price at cherryculture.com, these shadows are a great value! I will buy NYX single eye shadows again...

This is SUCH a pretty color! It's not really taupe, more like a brown with a hint of plum. It's very understated and I reach for it a lot when I do my makeup in the morning before I go to work. It's very pigmented and not particularly shimmery (I think the NYX website says it has a shimmer).

What a great eyeshadow! After reading so many great reviews, I finally found this at a local shop. It's become my "go to" eyeshadow. For a quick, neutral eye for work, I used to just swipe on some brown eyeshadow. This is a much better alternative for my green eyes. I definitely think it's more of a taupe color. It's easy to use as a quick "wash" but can definitely blend and build with other eyeshadows for a more complete look or can create dramatic looks blending with a range of shades from green to purple to black. Love it!!

Love this color! I have to admit that it looked rather intimidating when I first got it since it is such a rich looking brown. But, it blends nicely and is extremely versatile. I have worn this with purples, pinks, greens, and of course taupe’s :-) Excellent color to add to your mix.
