Well Well!!
I Love This Shampoo, i love philip kingsley shampoo's too, but this is FAB!!!
I have really curly frizzy hair, most curly shampoo's are very hydrating and help that but they are TOO HEAVY and rich, and so they and their conditioners weigh my hair down, This is because companies assume curly hair equals thick and coarse. well, my hair is very fine!!!! so this (and the matching conditioner) are perfect!!!
Moisturizing: Yes!
Defines Curls: Yes!
Does what it says.
Smells weird though, like play dough.

This review is for the new reformulated curl conscious for all curl types. Overall, it is a good shampoo. Subtle smell and cleanses with just a small portion. Is gentle enough to use daily. For the price, while I'd repurchase again, I don't think it's necessarily worth keeping it stocked because it doesn't work exponentially better than shampoos half the price.

The true test of a shampoo for curly hair is how it makes your hair look in winter when there is no humidity. I have fine curly hair and this is the only shampoo that makes it look good year round. It is expensive but those of us with naturally curly hair know how hard it is to find good product. I think it's worth the splurge.
They have reformulated it as of Sept 2008 and there is now only one kind available for all curly hair. It is now called smoothing shampoo. I don't like it as much as the version for fine-med hair but was able to find a big container of the old version.

I got this from my hairstylist to go along with the Curl Conscious Creme I had started to use. Honestly I have seen NO difference in my curls when I use the shampoo/conditioner than when I use my regular Pureology shampoo/cond. Its really a waste of money.

Smells like play-doh. Seemed to choke the life out of my fine curls (back when I had curls). Ingredients read like a chemistry class nightmare. Just...yuk.

If it weren't for the price of this product, I probably would have given it a 4, but imo it's just not worth what they charge. Overall, this is a nice shampoo if you aren't worried about sulfates, however, I think I can get an equally nice shampoo at the drugstore for $3 -- in fact I notice no difference between using this and my cheapo Sunsilk or L'Oreal shampoos that are made for moisturizing rather than volumizing. There's certainly nothing wrong with this product and I'd happily use it again if I received it as a gift, but I just can't justify the price of it. As far as the scent goes, the whole line reminds me of these little yellow weeds (we called them pineapple weed but I'm sure that's not the name) that used to grow in the schoolyard when I was a kid; its a very light smell that doesn't linger if you don't use the curl cream, and I don't love it or hate it.

ugh. i use the curl creme, and i love it--its become my HG. so, since i loved the creme so much i thought id buy the rest of the line and see how well that worked. thank god i only bought the sample sizes and didnt spend the $22 per bottle on the full sized stuff. first of all, this shampoo smells awful--it smells the same as the curl creme, but since the creme works so well i try to ignore it--i cant even describe what it smells like, its just gross. next, it doesn't clean hair at al, just leaves it a knotted mess with this weird residue on it. combined with the curl concious conditioner, it made my usually insanely curly, voluminous, dry, thick, frizzy hair very greasy and limp and straight at the top.
however, this may be a hit or miss product. after trying it, i gave it to my friend who has thick, wavy hair with little to no frizz (she also uses the surl creme for fine to meidum hair), and she loves it, though she has said that it is better for humid days, as it is very heavy.
personally, i do not recommend this and would not repurchase this shampoo, nor would i repurchase the conditioner that goes with it. however i have, and will continue to, repurchase hte curl creme over and over again.

Holy Grail! I use the Curl Conscious Shampoo, then the Curl Conscious Conditioner (I also add a squirt of the Super Rich Conditioner) and follow with the Curl Conscious Cream and I have the most healthiest, shiniest and wavy/curly hair then ever I could imagine. Fantastic items for me
Update 11/07 I will continue to use the Curl Concious line as as a spare, but last week was lucky to try the Ted Gibson shampoo and conditioner and find that the Gibson line is even better than the Bumble and Bumble line (I never thought I would find something better, but Ted Gibson rocks and although my hair looked beautiful with Bumble and Bumble, the Ted Gibson line has improved it even more.

Price tag is up there. But you gotta take care of your skin and hair, otherwise all the money in the world spent on products, clothes, or make-up won't mean a darn thing. Smell is fantastic, and I'm used to using Aveda products. I was very skeptical at first, but very pleased to see that my hair is indeed curlier. I follow with the conditioner, (using deep once a week) and then with Prep, Styling Lotion, and Curl Creme. My curls are defined, SOFT, and shiny. Hint: once trying this I feel in love with it, I did some searching and found the 1 Liter bottles on-line for a MUCH better price than at the salon. Now I can afford to use this product.

Meh, average shampoo at best - however the price tag is ridiculous. Won't repurchase.

After using Ouidad Curl Quencher Shampoo for about 3 years now, I decided it was time to try a new line. The smell of the shampoo is ok - not too perfumey or overwhelming, but you can definitely notice it. A little of this shampoo goes a long way, so be careful the first time you use it. It lathered up nice, and washed clean out of my hair. It did leave it feeling a bit too squeeky clean, but it doesn't seem to be harming my hair. The Ouidad CQ shampoo leaves some slip in my hair, but I think that it ends up weighing it down. Hair is noticeable curlier when I take it out of the towel, and I end up with nice curls that are not weighed down. I will definitely purchase this shampoo again.
3/29/06 update: After using this shampoo for a little over 3 weeks, I realized that for the money, it really isn't anything special. My hair became limp after using it everyday, and it doesn't seem to be moisturizing my curls at all. I don't think I would repurchase this shampoo.

I love this shampoo (and the corresponding conditioner). It is incredibly moisturizing. I have curly hair, but I straighten it almost all the time--my hairstylist recommended this just for the moisture content, and I have to say, the difference in my hair is apparent. The smell is nice, but it sort of reminds me of Estee Lauder moisturizers--has anyone else noticed that? Anyway, as are Bumble & Bumble products, the curl conscious line is ridiculously expensive, but... well,I only have one head of hair and I'd like it to be as healthy as possible, so I will continue to repurchase.

HG product for when I wear my hair curly. I NEVER wear my hair curly because it is very fine and VERY frizzy and so basically it never looks good. Ever since I tried the curl conscious line, I have had great results with leaving my hair curly! This stuff is a very creamy shampoo. It makes my hair feel clean without stripping it at all. I use it with the matching conditioner. This is the only product line that will allow me to wear my hair curly! Have repurchased and will continue to!

This shampoo is super expensive and I don't find it any better than Neutrogena's Triple Moist shampoo. If you are going to spend an arm and a leg, I recommend FF Protein RX shampoo, but this one was not worth the high price IMO.

Super Friggin Expensive...ok...with that out of the way, I do have to say I LOVE this shampoo. The smell...eeeeeyyy not so much, it is very Aveda-ish, but for what it does to my curls who cares!! When ever I use this shampoo I have curls...lots of them.
I have very thick dry over processed hair that tends to fuzz out. I know I have curls in there some where so when
I use the shampoo in combination with the conditioner the curls come back and I always have a good hair day.
If a shampoo & conditioner can take my fuzzy hair and turn it into manageable curls I would buy it any day...
I just wish it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg!

I will start by saying that I have very strange hair: I have a lot of hair, but the individual strands are very thin. I have long, loose curls/waves that get really greasy very easily. The hair at the crown is stick straight, and since it's fairly virginal and undamaged, this part tends to get the oiliest. And I have the hardest time with hair products. After going through every Aveda product (quite literally) I picked up a sample of B&B at a salon for free. I tried the entire set and it left my hair crappy and weighed down, and my hair was quite literally straighter than I'd ever seen it. But I had some left, and I tried the shampoo/conditioner again without using the creme. And wow. My hair is softer than ever, the curls are perfectly formed, and it's CLEAN. Smells nice, and the bottles look like they contain less than they actually do. The big vice is that it's really expensive--24$ per bottle--but I think it's worth it. Combined with Aveda's Be Curly this stuff can give amazing curls to otherwise blah hair.

I was told that this product would provide massive mostiure to my hair and that i would not need to use too much product. Well for the cost of it, it definatly does not mosturize my hair as much as other shampoos nor does it last as long. I have found that you have to use quite a bit more of this product for it to lather up then others. Save the money buy a mosturizing shampoo from someone else.

I have thick naturally curly shoulder length spiral curls (think ramen noodles but tighter). This shampoo is awesome, I was using B&B Gentle Shampoo before, but this one is more moisturizing actually felt like it cleaned my hair and smells terrific. When combined with the conditioner and creme from the same line, my curls locked into one another and wasn't frizzy, but looked healthy and shiny. Although according to the website, I should be using the Medium to Thicker products, I like this much better. I don't want to weigh down or straighten my curls, just accentuate them.

Used this along with the conditioner to see if it would enhance the the curl in my wavy hair. Didn't really help this but I love how moisturizing this is with out weighing down my hair. Really amazing stuff.

This shampooo is nothing short of miraculous! My hair was soft, shiny and frizz free after using this! Wish it didn't cost so much, but for the outcome, it's worth the the price!
