I, like many others, ventured to the Cle de Peau counter in search of their concealer. After purchasing the concealer, the Neimans associate gave me multiple samples of skin care. The sample packs included samples of the Gentle Cleansing Foam, however she recommended I go with the Refreshing Cleansing Foam if I decided to go with the full size.
This is the first foaming cleanser I have ever liked. I have combination skin, so every skin care line recommends some kind of foaming cleanser for my skin - all seem horrible to me. Had I not been given a sample I probably would have never tried the Refreshing Cleansing Foam. I discovered milky cleanser a few years ago that, while probably not ideal for combination skin, I liked much better than any foaming cleanser. I don't normally like to blast other lines, but this cleanser blows La Mer, CHANEL, Clarins, and Perricone's foaming cleansers out of the water.
This cleanser smells great and is not overly scented. It lightly foams with water, but doesn't foam so much that you look like you're washing your face with bubble bath. There are tiny exfoliant beads in it, in tiny amounts, I barely notice them at all. But the best part of the cleanser is that when I'm finished washing my face, I don't get that tight, stripped, "I just washed my face" feeling that I got from all other foaming cleansers. My face just feels clean.
I use this cleanser every night. I still use my milky cleanser in the morning. I am intrigued by the cream cleanser from Cle de Peau also... may have to give that a try this winter too. The other skin care samples were only so-so - not impressive enough for me to trade out with any of my current regimen. It never ceases to amaze me that a luxury line, like Cle de Peau, which has multiple products that are incredible and charges exorbitant prices cannot deliver an entire line of above average skin care.... good thing there are so many lines to choose from.

Excellent cleanser. It is the most luxury cleansing foam that I have used in my life. Non-dring and smell fresh. Cleans my makeup really well. Would definitly buy it again unless I cannot afford it.

First off, I got the Cle de Peau extra gentle cleansing foam for dry skin, not the refreshing one which has little beads in it. Anyway...the price is sooo expensive and I paid $66 Canadian for it. I don't know why I did it, maybe it is the vanity thing again and I'm "obsessed" with skincare and after hearing so many rumors about it, I decided to buy it and I can't wait to try it when I got home.
First, the packaging is okay, no flip cap, instead; it is a twist one, so it might not be as convenient as some other cleansers. The cleanser does look nice with the simply design.
Second, all I wanted a cleanser to do is to clean my face as gently and as clean as possible. I don't use anything on my face except moisturizers and sometimes just toner alone. The scent is barely there but it does linger after cleansing. I don't like it the scent. The foam is okay, not a lot but there to make cleansing enjoyable. The cleansing ability is good, does not make my skin tight or unclean after washing. I like it that it doesn't causes any bad reaction for me because I have sensitive skin. Overall, I would buy it again if it is cheaper. I like the Aqua Label cleanser from Shiseido better, it has no scent to it and it is much cheaper ($26 Canadian), plus it has whitening if you buy the blue version. Aqua Label toner, however; is not good for sensitive skin.
Overall, I prefer the quantity to be much more, since the Cle de Peau tendre cleanser size is only 100ml. It won't last long if you use it twice a day and you need at least 2 -3 pearl size to clean the face really well. I don't think Cle de Peau products are that special anyway, except for the price which is ridiculous. I'm going to stick with brands such as Fancl, Haba, and the Shiseido Qiora toning lotion and face serum is good as well, not the moisturizer though. Qiora is expensive, but it is more affordable compared to Cle de Peau.

I've had used a number of foam cleanser but found this one very different. Firstly, a little amount goes a long way and it foams up very easily. Secondly, it is a gentle cleanser which doesn't strip away your natural moist. No drying or tight feeling after use. Thirdly, it is a very creamy texture and easy to use. I do love this cleanser as everyday use but it comes with a high price tag which I am not sure if I will re-purchase it.

I've searched high and low for a cleanser that works for me. I've used this for 2 years and this is my HG. I have combo skin for reference and it's sensitive. I live by this cleanser.

Great foaming cleasner with a few tiny beads for my combo skin. I'd prefer not to have the beads, but that's not a choice available (unless I go for the dry skin version). I've been through 4 tubes of these CDP cleasners already and will repurchase. It takes off makeup without stripping my skin and has a great smell, nice texture. It's similar to Shiseido foam cleansers but foamier, and I don't need to use as much of it.

Everything in this line is a double in price compared with my routine counter stuff. Foams easily and non drying, there should be something better for this price.

Got given a sample when I purchased the famous concealer (which really works I promise!) Had the impression that nothing created by Cle could go wrong but boy was I wrong. This cleanser is one of the most stripping ones I have ever tried and it stung my eyes. Any off the shelf Biore type cleansers worked better than this. I would not recommend it for sensitive skin. Needless to say, never purchasing!

Cle de Peau Refreshing Cleansing Foam has small amount of little beads in it that gentle exfoliate. Skin felt incredibly refreshed but not taut. But to be honest, all it does is cleansing which every other cleanser does just as well.I would say it is not worth its price-tag.

This cleanser was just "okay" for my combination-tending-towards-oily and sensitive skin. There were a few exfoliating bits in this cleanser. Like..just a few...enough so that you realize that the little gritty things are supposed to be an exfoliator...but so few that the first time you think there must be some kind of mistake or something. Lightly fragranced, but not annoying...just a relatively unremarkable cleanser, I think.

Love this stuff!! Very expensive but I got mine at Strawberrynet.com and it wasn't too bad plus it only takes a very small amount - very concentrated. Very rich, creamy lather and removes make up well. Leaves a moisturizing film on this skin. My skin is oily so I use it to remove make up then follow with toner or a gel cleanser. Love the gentle smell. It's like using something very special and luxurious!! I save if for when I want a special treat or when I give myself a facial.

This is equally good as the Gentle Cleansing Foam, a bit drying for me due to my normal/dry skin, but would be wonderful for those with oily/combo skin!

I so very much want to add this product to my skincare lineup. It worked beautifully, and my oily skin wasn't dried out in the process. A little really does go a long way, but I don't know if $50 is a good way to spend my money when the concealer is the HG of HGs for me.

I bought this at Takashimaya on 5th ave and tried it several times. Considering the price, this was a total bust...very drying, even when just a dab was used. The only consolation was getting to read the goofy copywriting (common to all Shiseido products); you would think they could hire a better translator with all the money they're making. From their website: "For women seeking a high quality of life/who desire to fulfil their wishes/and make their dreams come true today."

have been on my 5th tube. i have used both the refreshing and gentle one and am now stick with the gentle formula. foamy and u need less-than-a -pea size for each cleaning. but even the gentle one it's a bit dry for my oily-combination-acne skin, especaiily around the eye area. definately need to apply moisturizer afterwards, but it's a lot better than other foamy cleasers i've tried (shiseido/IPSA/lancome cleaning gel). Update: wooo, switched to non-foamy cleanser (cetaphil) and my skin as a whole is much better. feel the same cleaniness but no stripping!goodbye to my years long relationship with this cleanser forever.

I just started using Cle de Peau skincare and while my wallet is totally hating me for it, my skin has been thanking me. The Refreshing Cleansing Foam leaves my skin feeling clean without stripping it of moisture like some of the other cleansers out there. I have tried Shiseido's skincare line and this stuff is just way better. As other reviewers have said, you will need a separate eye makeup remover to remove all traces of eye makeup. The tube is $50 but you only need a small pea-sized amount each time that it is definitely worth investing in. I will never use another cleanser ever again!

There is an amazing subtlety about Cle de Peau products. I bought a bottle 10 months ago and just finished it. During those ten months I kept on thinking, "this is just Clearasil... I've seen a foaming cleanser like this a thousand times." Only when I was searching for a cheaper alternative, I realized how well made this product was. Not even Shiseido foaming cleansers gave me the same effect. I'm really really clean (it really isn't good for eye makeup though use something separate before) but not dry. I'm really not sure what's in it to make it so different.... but there's definitely something about this product that makes it stand out.

*update* I've been using 8 CDP products for 10 months, and have repurchased this cleanser & a couple other items. $50. It is gentle, seems to clean my sensitive, oily/combo skin well, and doesn't irritate. There is a light fragrance, which could be irritating to some. I've been using this at least twice a day for 10 months and there's still a little left in the tube. I used Clinique & Cetaphil for years to save money. But remember, you get what you pay for - and my face is worth the money. Only a few genetically blessed people can get away with using cheap drugstore brands.

UPDATE**** I gave this cleanser another try after getting a generous sample of cleanser, toner and cream. Well, it is nice if you are using the whole skincare programme. It does not dry out my skin in the summer. I follow it with the tendre toner, I had used the fraiche hence the dryness. It foams and is gentle. It has a pleasant smell. Only drawback it does not remove make up. It is a huge tube the regular size and you are to use a pea size amount so it would last a while. My skin has been looking good.

This left my skin squeaky clean (literally!) But doesn't clean off eye makeup at all. Not as well as my Neutragena facial cleanser does anyway. You only have to use a half a pea-sized bit of this cleanser for your whole face, so it does go a long way. But is also very expensive. It's not worth it for me.
