I've been using this toner for about a week, and am quite happy with it. I have combination skin, with an oily T-zone and normal to dry skin on my cheeks and the rest of my face. This product definitely removes any remaining makeup you may have on your face, so I think it's most beneficial at night. I don't wear foundation, so for me it really just gives me an extra boost to ensure that my pores are clean and that my skin is prepped for serums and moisturizer. For anyone who uses BB creams or foundation, this is going to be your magical product. The only negative I can really think of is that there is definitely a strong scent of alcohol, which is common with many toners. Since I don't wear foundation I may try something more gentle. Again, it's an A+ for anyone who wears foundation and the like.

I would describe this product as "meh". It does an alright job at cleaning up any leftover dirt or makeup after cleansing but that's about it. I didn't notice any amazing after effects. The smell is nice, clean and fresh and the packaging doesn't give me any cause for complaint. Even though they give you a large quantity of product it seems to go really fast, I only use about a quarter size amount on a cotton round for my my whole face, probably even less than that actually. I have only had it about 2 months and already I am almost out of it. I have used the Paula's Choice skin balancing pore reducing toner and that lasted more than twice as long and has less product than the MB one. When I run out I am planning on going back to the Paula's choice toner.

I have been using this toner for years. I would try other products but would keep going back to this one. It smells fresh and tones well, I use a cotton pad and it removes the excess dirt etc that was not removed from my cleanser. Although there is alcohol in this product, it does not dry out my skin. I recommend for folks with oily/combination sensitive skin. It works for me.

This product is INCREDIBLE. I cannot even believe such a product exists. First off, I would never have even considered trying such a boring-sounding toner (oh, cucumbers and alcohol, that's nice...) had I not received it as a free sample with my order (MB, aside from making really good-quality and affordable products, is an amazing company with good customer service practices. Generous with free samples and extremely reasonable return policy). I tried it because "hey, why not" and am SO GLAD I DID. My skin is both very sensitive and INCREDIBLY OILY. So oily that on an average day, I have to use THREE oil blotting sheets within five hours of applying foundation. Very, very oily (strangely, not acne-prone. Just oily).
With this toner, my skin has been DRAMATICALLY less oily. So significantly that, since I've been using this toner, I haven't had to blot my face during the day...... AT ALL. Not once. Not at all.
I went from using three oil-blotting sheets a day... down to ZERO.
Oily-skinned girls, listen up! This toner will answer your prayers!
It has not dried my skin out. In fact, it creates a beautiful, smooth canvas for putting on makeup (I use Bare Minerals). My skin is very sensitive, and this toner has created an almost magical balance in my skin... it has given me "normal skin"! I always wondered what "normal skin" was, and now, because of this toner... I have it. AMAZING. For reference, I am using this toner morning and night, in conjunction with MB's Enzyme Cleansing Gel (morning and night) and Control Moisturizer for Oily Skin (only at night).

Receiving a free sample of this product saved my skin!
My skin used to be combination- oily and dry. Using a toner would dry out most of my skin while moisturizers would leave it feeling oily.

Within a week of using the cucumber cleansing lotion my skin became so soft and smooth. All of the dead skin cells were gone leaving fresh, glowing skin. I've been using it for 2+ years now without a break out.

I have very sensitive skin so this was a lifesaver.

Since some of the Mario Badescu products work so well for me, i thought this is THE toner for me, unfortunately, it isn't. It's an ok toner, nothing good or extremly bad. Feels like there are so many products out there just like this one. I will not purchase it again. Actually, finding a good toner seems to be as hard as finding a good acne treament!

was really excited about getting this product as after suffering for years with my problematic skin and trying product after product the mario badescu range had an overall postive rating however this was not the case for me! the smell i really liked,the fact it had floating bits of cucumber was interesting and the tingly feeling i got after using it was nice and indiacted to me that my skin was clean so therfore must be doing some good! no not at all! my skin became really conjested and i developed big cyst like lumps(not unusual for me but the amount and how quickly they was appearing was definatley worrying)as you can imagine these are painfull and itch like mad but i dicided not to be too judgemental and stick it out for at least 2weeks.....bad idea! the more i used it the worse my skin became, very irritated and i looked awfull! had to stop using it and within days my skin started to recover! i have still got a few cyst as they take along time to disappear but my skin is calmer and not as angry! feel annoyed at myself for yet again been tempted by something that sounded too good to be true and wasting money on an expensive product that had a bad effect on my skin! will not reccommend and will never repurchase but my search and desparation for problem free skin will continue.

I am pregnant and had a terrible case of hormonal acne all over my chin and jaw line (forehead also, just a little). Since Im pregnant Im very limited to what I can use. NOTHING and I mean nothing was working for me. Until I discovered Mario Badescu's skin care line. I went to the actual Spa Center on East 52nd Street. They're customer service was amazing! I sat down with one of the girls and she gave me a free consultation on what type of skin I have, my problem areas and what products would be best for me. She recommended the Cucumber Cleansing Lotion and I must say this product has given me AMAZING results in just a week and a half. My skin has done a complete transformation. I love how fresh and clean my face feels with this toner and it never over drys my skin (I tend to over dry at times with other products). My skin is less oily and I have had NO new breakouts. I love Mario Badescu products. They have changed my skin completely.I use this Toner twice a day and it never leaves my face feeling dry it actually feels soft and moisturized. I would recommend this product and skin care line to anyone but especially pregnant women who are very limited to what we can use.

I love this product, the only thing I don't like is that if I use it twice a day, it will dry out my skin because it has 4% alcohol, so I usually just use it when I have a little breakout, and whenever I feel like my face needs to be disinfected with alcohol.

The Good:
Didn't irritate (I have crazy skin that gets irritated by pretty much everything)
Clean ingredients (doesn't contain any known no-no's like parabens)
Reasonable price ($8/15oz.)
Soothing smell (followed by a tinge of alcohol)


The Bad:
It's average in quality (I don't think this alone is effective in controlling an oily T-zone or acne, at least for my skin)
Availability (I live in the heart of southern California and don't have any nearby stores that I could walk in and purchase this. In order to avoid S/H fees, I would have to buy several products to meet the minimum)


Would I buy again?
Probably... if there be a need. Again, it doesn't irritate but it's nothing spectacular either.

Got this as one of my free samples; love, love, love it!

After years of being stuck with typical "acne" toners (read: dry, drier, dryest!) I've found one that doesn't send my sking spazzing into oil overproduction after use. It smells good, and is very gentle. I will definitely purchase this soon!

This is a nice toner that gets the job done. Since using it after washing my face, I have noticed an improvement in my acne. Of course, I am not sure if that is just due to using a toner or using this one in particular. My sample kit contained the Special Cucumber Cleansing Lotion (sulfur based), which also made a difference in my complexion, so I placed an order via the MB website. However, I accidently ordered this one, but it has worked just as well. Not sure if I will order this one or the Special Cucumber Cleansing Lotion after I run out, as they both seem to work well for me.

I took a chance on this at a local Beauty Supply store, when I went for the Special Cucumber Lotion, but they were out of it. So I figured I'd try this. I was plesantly surprised! I actually like this one better! I think the Special Cucumber Lotion was too drying for me and actually made my face oilier. (Is that a word? Well it is now! :)) This toner is soothing, but highly effective. It doesn't leave a my face dry or tight or "filmy" like some toners do. And it's actually made from cucumbers. You know how I can tell? Every once in a while, I find a cucumber seed on my cotton pad. One reviewer said it grossed her out. It's the oposite for me. It makes me feel better knowing it's actual cucumbers, and not "cucumber-dervied-chemicals"

Good toner that contains healing soothing cucumber and disinfecting boric acid. Since my cleansers remove all my residue I do not use a cottonball for my toners. I just dump the same amount into my hands and splash onto my face. This toner (when splashed on) can be a bit drying without a lotion. But it started drying up those flesh colored bumps that I used to get. I think that I would prefer the Special cucumber cleansing lotion though because it contains sulfur. I am currently using the Special Cleansing Lotion C because it contains the cucumber, boric, and camphor which is suppose to assist in acne even more (but the boric is the last thing on the list and not as drying).

Oh dang. Subconsciously I was kind of hoping that this wouldn't work because I'd JUST bought some nivea toner and this stuff is also mega pricy in NZ.

Bummer. It's a great toner for my crazy-sensitive, oily skin. Doesn't leave it tight or make it peel or sting; removes gunk that cleanser doesn't get, and smells gorge.

So recommended.

I have also been scared to use a toner or astringent because my face my be combination, but even the slightest amount of alcohol in a product will dry my face out really bad. So I was kind of surprised when I tried this cleansing lotion, which the website claims is a toner, worked and didn't feel harsh. I don't use it everyday, but more on a every two day basis as this is what works for my skin type. It's is not strong at all for me, the smell I actually like, and I can see on the cotton pad I use that it is getting all the dirt my facial cleanser wasn't able to get. It helps a bit with some minor pimples, but this specific lotion isn't intended to actually help too much with problematic skin.

I received this sample after I purchased the drying lotion. I was relieved b/c I was running out of the Special Cucumber toner. His products are wonderful and it is great they send you samples first w/out charging you a dime, not even shipping. It is a good way to build a rep. for good products that are not pricey but do a great job!

This toner is AMAZING for my oily, acne-prone, but dry around cheeks skin! Using this after the Botanical Facial Gel, I went from chronic breakouts to clear skin with just the occasional random small whitehead, which is completely miraculous for me! I've tried what feels like every other product available over the past decade and nothing has ever transformed my skin like this! MB products are also pretty darn affordable- I want to cringe when I think of how much money I've spent on products that had no or minute influence on my stubborn skin! A++ for this one, Mario!

About 8 weeks ago, I filled out the skin questionnaire on the Mario Badescu website and received samples of the skin care regimen they said would work best for me. I recevied the Special Cucumber lotion and I loved it, so I went to order it along with a few other things after using the samples. Well, because I am not good with exact names, I accidentally ordered the Cucumber Cleansing Lotion. When I got it I kept looking at it, I didn't understand why it looked so different, lol. Eventually I figured it out, but decided instead of sending it back to go ahead and use it. Long story short, I'm glad that I kept it. I like it slightly better than the Special Cucumber Lotion because I find this one has a more pleasing scent and it feels a slightly better on the skin after applying it. I would honestly recommend either one, and I'll either buy this one again or change it up and get the Special Cucumber Lotion. The one negative is the floating cucumber pieces or whatever, they kind of gross me out, I don't know why I guess I am weird. For reference, I have oily skin, with dry under-eye area and some dryness around nose and corner of mouth during the colder months. I think this product has some sort of alcohol in it, but it is very little and this toner doesn't sting or burn at all. It is great, I use it two times a day and I also apply this before using MaMa lotion every other night.
