I like this stuff too and naturally, because it's a salt solution it's GOING to be drying and look matte, that's what salt does. Ever notice your hair after walking along the beach for awhile? Same thing. However, here's a trick for those that find it too drying and matte for their hair and want the same effect without so much dryness:

Add a few drops up to a teaspoon of shea, Manoi or coconut oil to the bottle. Shake well before each use. Spray and style accordingly.

This will give it a nice scent (the Manoi especially) and add some moisture so that it still has that separated "beachy" look but isn't as matte or drying to the hair. With the oil added this stuff becomes the perfect texturizer! I've already repurchased a second bottle and done this, works great :-)

I love this product -- I can't believe how inexpensive the Beyond the Zone product line is. I purchased this texture spray for $2.99 -- and I'm in search of another bottle -- I've used it up, and that is rare. I seldome end up finishing a product -- I frequently fall out of love before it is gone, but this product does what it says. I get tired of making my hair look tossled by using waxy, greasy products. Beach Head texture Spray is a great alternative. I get volumne, texture -- pieciness and no greasy or waxy residue.

LOVE IT!

I actually really liked this product. It smells like a beach in my opinion. And yes it does dry out hair and can tangle it if you try to brush it but that's what actually happends when you go to the beach, so I think it does exactly what it's supposed to. I don't bruch my hair after I add product anyway. My hair is long and VERY thick. It's an annoying wavy-frizzy mess naturally and I either have to wear it up, straighten in by blow-drying then using a flat iron or scrunching it using product. I'd much rather do the latter, but I usually need a lot to hold the curl and when you use a lot of product you get the straw like stiff hair that no body wants...with this product however I get softer more defined waves. It's exactly what I'm looking for BUT now that I've found something that works I can't find this product anywhere. Sally doesn't seem to carry it anymore ... has anyone seen it around???

I agree with most of the reviews for this product. It does make your hair pretty dry and tangled, and has that overwhelming baby powder scent.

I've basically decided to use this spray ONLY on my roots, for when my hair starts to get greasy & limp. Because it's salt-infused, it soaks up the oils, and also gives a boost of volume.

I'm giving it some points as a quick fixer-upper for when you don't have time to wash your hair.

I actually really love this stuff. I have fine, thick hair that has a very mild wave and this product really enhances the wave. The John Frieda stuff just makes my hair feel oily and limp. True, you can't comb it after the stuff dries, but it looks great!

This was the only BTZ product that I couldn't stand.

If you're a fan of BTZ products like myself, you might be sorely disappointed with this product. With so many great products, how did this happen? This stuff is terrible. It smells awful, a horribly fake overpowering baby powder scent; on a beach spray?

This tangles my wavy hair and makes it greasier than anything else I've ever used. Save your money and try the John Frieda beach spray instead; far better investment. BTZ, I expected better of you.

I have thick wavy hair and bought this thinking that it would help hold my waves better than mousse. It does give volume but it totally tangles my hair up really bad! I like the smell, it does smell like baby powder, but not THAT overpowering, just smells fresh. But, I wasn't impressed with the product. I wouldn't buy it again.

I have tried every sea spray out there and out of all of them, I would put this somewhere in the middle. I like it better than KMS sea spray which turned my hair into a mess, but not as much as the John Frieda sea spray. This one is pretty light, makes a slight, but pretty wave, and I really didn't find the smell that bad.

The fact that this is infused with salt water will lead to overdrying of the hair. Boo.

This didn't do anything for my hair, other than make it smell bad--I agree that the scent is like an unpleasant version of baby powder. At least it wasn't expensive.

I guess I am the only one who likes this stuff. My super-fine flat hair actually felt thick with this. It is probably drying but worth it to me for a little texture. Smell is not beachy but not offensive. I actually like matte hair, I am not one for shine in any product.

Just like the previous reviewer, this did make my hair feel like straw. I did actually like the smell but this was a waste of money.

I will admit that this spray gave my hair volume; however, it also made it extremely dry, almost like straw, and my hair never feels like that with any other product I use. Although I liked the height it gave me, I can't deal with the coarseness...this could be a good product if they tinkered with the formula some in order to counteract its overdrying effects.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this stunk (litterally and figuratively). I bought this a few years ago because I had read all of these raves in magazines about these "salt sprays" that gave texture and volume. I thought, ok, this is good for fine flat hair like mine. This stuff smells like baby powder..which isn't bad, but do you think of baby powder when you think of the beach? The other thing is the texture it gives my hair. It is so weird, my hair is greasy feeling, yet really dry looking/feeling as well. I still have it (don't know why) and try it every now and then, but I get the same gross results. Sorry BTZ, but this product is the pits.

This is easy to use and does what it claims to do fairly well, but my god does it stink. My hair reeked like a burnt tire until I washed it out.
