Love this shampoo! This is what my salon uses and I love the results, I bought the smaller travel size bottle due to the high cost of the product. Even the travel size was $10 at Ulta. But it takes z very small amount and the smell is amazing. Downside would be that I can't tell that it really volumizes hair but there is a difference in hair and it looks so smooth and healthy and smells great all day. I wouldn't buy the full size unless I find a special buy on it b/c of it being so expensive but I do love it.

Having used Pureology products in the past, I decided to try their volume shampoo. I have think hair but it lacks volume. On closer inspection I realized that this shampoo is meant for fine hair, which is perhaps why it didn't work for me at all. It felt like I was washing my hair with cement. It left my hair in one big knot and it certainly didn't feel clean. I could barely get a comb through it afterwards. I'm generally not very picky about shampoo but this was dreadful and I can't believe I wasted money on this product.

I have straight to slightly wavy highlighted fine hair. I have lots of hair so even though it's fine I can get lots of volume out of it if I take the time to style w/ the right tools and products. I ran out of my beloved Matrix Biolage Hyrotherapie & thought I'd give Pureology Volume shampoo a try. I had read many mixed reviews about this product so I expected to either love this or hate this. I HATED THIS!!!! The scent is awful (smells like a cologne that a 90 year old man would have on). I could smell it on me all day long. I actually felt a bit embarassed when I was in close proximity to others because I imagined them smelling this musky, spicey scent & then realizing that I was the source of this horrid, masculine stench. As much as I disliked the smell, I have to admit, if this product gave me amazing hair I probably would have found a way to get over the smell. It did nothing for me-in fact it made my hair look thin and dry. This review is specifically re: the shampoo but I did also use the Pureology Pure Volume Conditioner (which I'll review separately). The conditioner smells better, btw, but is still an odd scent. Wanted to love but I hated it. Thankfully I only purchased travel sizes at Ulta. Returned them today and can not wait to wash this smell out of my hair tomorrow morning!!!

For the price this shampoo is amazing! I only need a small amount (the size of a dime) to wash my hair so the bottle lasts for months! It cleanses great (all day without greasy roots) but does not over dry. I have shoulder length fine hair. I used this shampoo for two days now and my hair is HUGE! I used a round brush to blow dry it this morning with no other styling product and I can't believe my hair has this much volume! I paired it with the Pureology Hydralight conditioner and my hair is super soft and shiny!
Update: I've been using this shampoo for a month and decided to save the rest for summer. It's been a little too drying for the winter. But will defiantly dig it back out come summer!

This is a good shampoo but I like hydrate better. It isn't moisturizing like hydrate but it's not stripping either. It smells good and lathers pretty well but I wouldn't buy the full sizes because I like hydrate better.

Based on what this shampoo claims to offer - color protection and volume - I would give it 5 lippies. I tried a sample of this line and used the shampoo along with the conditioner and blow dry amplifier. The line definitely delivers on volume. Both the conditioner and shampoo and equally concentrated - which is only the case for me with NanoWorks (Hydrate and Precious Oil require a lot more conditioner than shampoo for my hair). This cleanses well and doesn't dry the hair out which a lot of volumizing shampoos can tend to do. That isn't to say it moisturizes the hair but it doesn't leave it feeling like straw. All I can say is if you have dry hair or damage this is obviously not for you. As I prefer hydration to volume, this is not my HG line but it is my go-to should I want volume in the future.

I bought this shampoo and matching conditioner at a 1 litre sale at a local beauty supply store. Even on sale it was still on the pricey side. The smell is ok. It is not fruity but a bit more on a perfume side? The smell stays in your hair and it smells clean. I like the fact it is safe on colour treated hair. It gave an ok volume but after using it for a few months, I was not sure I loved it so much. Having spent a little bit on a 1 litre bottle I thought I better stick with it. I tried to like this, but just could not. I found my hair was getting way too dry. It still sits on my shelf but will have to go. Disappointing.

This is good, but so not worth the price.I wish I could give this a 3.5 lippie. I got a small travel sized version of the shampoo and conditioner at Ulta and I use this about every other wash (it's lasted me months too and I'm not even half way through the bottles).
I think many of us will pay such an outrageous price on this because it fits the bill for a lot of us: sulfate free, high lather, gives volume, and maintains color. I dye my hair a dark chocolate brown after being highlighted blond for about 8 years, so it has been really hard to get color to stay. With this I do notice that my color lasts longer. I have a little bit more volume than usual and I love that this lathers. I'm still on the fence about the smell of this one, I like it and hate it at the same time. It smells like mens' shaving cream, I wish it was a little more minty like Pureology Hydrate.
However, my hair still gets frizzy and falls flat later on during the day, for the price of this stuff it should give you fabulous results, the results are good, but I'm not amazed.

I decided to use this shampoo one night( it was my moms) because I got bored of the usual shampoos I use. I have very fine, flat hair. This did not put any volume in my hair!!!! It didn't even do a good job cleansing it. It left my hair feeling overly dry and just not pleasant to touch.
The only thing I like about it is the smell and coloring.

On the search for my HG shampoo I've realized there is not just one HG shampoo for me, but rather one HG shampoo for each of my desired hair styles. What I do love about this shampoo is for days that I want to curl my hair this shampoo allows me to gain bouncy, springy, long lasting curls. Even the following day my hair is still curly and springy. Teasing is also amazing, just one tease and some hair spray and volume stays throughout the night. For blow drying my hair and daily styling this product is just ok for me, it often leaves my hair feeling dry and less shiny than more nourishing shampoos. Does an excellent job of holding color and increasing time between salon visits.

so I was hesitant to hop on the bandwagon and try Pureology because I thought it was a ton of hype. However...after trying this I learned why it has a huge following. It doesn't wow me with a ton of volume BUT it does lather nicely, smell wonderful, and make my hair feel clean but not stripped and dry. I should mention how long a sample bottle will last; I bought one from Ulta for $7 and it's not even half way gone and that was a month ago, and I use it a few times a week. I feel like it doesn't aggravate my dry scalp and it is easy to wash out and has no need to repeat.

I switched to this shampoo after my over-processed hair had both broken off and fallen out through the crown. This sulfate free shampoo lathers well and feels like I am getting my hair clean. I have very fine hair to my collar bone so I use about a dime sized drop in my palm. Less is more with this product. Too much and it doesn't lather well and becomes difficult to apply. My stylist suggested rubbing my hands together and then applying the shampoo to very wet hair and repeating if needed. After two weeks my fragile, over high-lighted hair was behaving more like healthy hair. My roots no longer felt oily and overall my hair seemed to feel more voluminous. Other sulfate free shampoos didn't feel like they were cleaning my hair and would leave it feeling stringy. It has been three months and my hair looks better; shedding less and a lot of regrowth through the crown. I use the companion conditioner which is great for volume but not moisturizing enough for the straw-like blonde pieces. Overall, because of the improvement I will only use higher-end sulfate free shampoos for life. I will repurchase this even though the scent is distinct and even at $29 per bottle! For me, it is worth every penny.

I would have to say that this product is a bit (not a bit a lot!) hyped up, it says that it is ZeroSulfate, wich is totaly wrong! Yes it's not containing sodium lauryl sulfate, but it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfocaetate! It basicly does the same thing! After a few weeks I can honestly say I see no change in volume, my fine hair is still as flat as it used to and my scalp is more itchy then it was when i started with the shampoo.

I will not buy this again due to the non "ZeroSulfate" and no effect on volume, but other might react different to the Sodium Lauryl Sulfocaetate then what I did.

I tried a sample of this shampoo years ago and sure didn't understand the hype. It didn't do anything for my hair and actually made it blah and flat. Its way over-priced and contains too many ingredients too. Im not sure what hair-type it would be good for, if any. Don't waste your money.

I have horribly thin, baby fine hair due to bad genes and taking Accutane twice. I struggle to find the perfect shampoo and other hair products. This is the one for me. It is very expensive, but a little goes a long way. I buy the large size and it last me a year. I shampoo every day because I have a very oily scalp and have to use 2 to 3 products to make my wavy/curly hair look full and tamed every day. Since my hair is thin, my color comes out fast and all my red-brassy undertones show througg. This shampoo extends the life of my color and keeps my brassiness under control. Really a super product!

Edit: August 2011: First, I was definitely was using too much of this shampoo - a quarter size is all I need for my hair (2 inches past my shoulders). Second, it seems to work better for me in the summer as opposed to the winter. (too dry maybe in winter?) I will finish the bottle I currently have, but likely WON"T re-purchase for a 3rd time, I think I can do better for the money....
Update: I dug this darn shampoo out of the garbage and am giving it ONE more try - after reading more reviews, I might have been using to much.. will try again and update in month...Stupid me has plunked down $29 (cdn.) not ONCE, but TWICE this over-priced & over-rated shampoo hoping I could get it to work for me. First off the smell while nice - ( if you like vanilla? that is) is VERY overpowering, ppl have commented on the "perfume" I am wearing when I use this shampoo. Second, it doesn't provide any volume to my fine shoulder length colored hair to speak of, but rather weighs it down, makes my hair full of static, and lastly - makes my scalp itch. It's only redeeming quality is that a little goes a long way - but for that price it better. Lesson learned - will not re-purchase.

I am Asian with very straight hair that is difficult to style and add volume to. I bought the Pureology Volume Shampoo in the hopes that it would give me volume but I've been disappointed with the results. Although it makes my hair soft and smooth it is very, very limp and the worst thing is that it is even more difficult to curl. I used to be able to use a normal shampoo like Head and Shoulders and leave velcro rollers in with the result that my hair would appear to have more volume but with Pureology my hair looks as if I just let it air dry. I have to put in lots and lots of mousse to get my hair to hold curls for more than a few hours. Maybe this product is more beneficial if you have colour-treated hair but it really didn't give me the volume I was looking for. I won't be repurchasing any time soon and am still on the search for my perfect volumising shampoo and conditioner, although Tigi has quite a good one.

I have thick hair, but the strands are very fine, prone to breakage, flyaways and dryness at the ends. After conversing with my hair stylist about a need for more volume in my hair, she recommended this shampoo and accompanying conditioner to me. I purchased a sample bottle of both and was advised that even though I have a lot of hair, to use the shampoo sparingly when I washed because the formula is so concentrated. I use a nickel sized amount in my hair and find it lathers well. The scent is also pleasing--a bit spicy and herbal. However, after using this for several weeks, my hair feels weighed down and particularly greasy the next day. I tried modifying the amount I used in my hair but I found that anything less was inadequate for washing and still left my hair lank. I also wash my hair at night and while it does add volume, sleeping negates this. So, I think the product is decent enough, but not for me (especially considering the price tag).
