I just found this gem...amazing conditioner. I have searched forever for a conditioner that detangles, softens and moisturizes without weight. This is it! Frizz is gone in my long baby fine virgin hair. But guess what??? Redken DISCONTINUED the whole Smooth Down line. Why??? The Smooth Lock sucks. I dont know what is going on because the just ruined the cult fave Anti Snap. The one in the clear blue bottle just makes the ends stick together :(

I can't tell you alone how this works, since I use shampoo and conditioner. But it's a great conditioner, it makes my hair soooooooo soft and silky. But the price isn't great.....trust me you can get something much better. Take my word for it. There are better things in the world than this. It only looked good if I blow dried my hair. If I air dried....the puffiness doubled! And the frizz didn't help either. So for me? This sucked. Will I buy it again? Sadly no. I really wanted to like this product, but I just couldn't....sigh,unless of course I blow dried. I can't guarantee every day I'll have the time you know?

I would give this conditioner 5 lipsticks if it wasn't for the fact that it makes my scalp itch like hell. After using it for 2 months I can't take it anymore so on the search for another conditioner, as my scalp is so itchy I'm constantly scratching it and it is causing dandruff (eww), it is also making my neck and back itchy from my hair touching it. I've tried using only a tiny amount and only on the ends of my hair and it still irritates me. I must be allergic to something in the formula as I never had this problem with redken all soft.
Asides from that it is the best conditioner I've used for smoothing my hair. My hair is naturally curly, coarse and frizzy and this is the best conditioner for relaxing it and I have barely any frizz when using it. When leaving my hair curly this minimizes frizz yet doesn't weigh my curls down, and when blowdrying my hair straight this conditioner makes it so much easier/quicker to blowdry and then I only have to quickly run my straighteners through my hair and it looks as if I've been to the salon, people are always asking me if I've had my hair done when I straighten my hair after using this. Throughout the day my hair will remain quite smooth although I have to neaten it up a little if I'm going out in the evening. I will say it isn't as moisturising as all soft so my hair gets damaged easier. I wouldn't rebuy but only because of the itching, gutted!

I used to use Nexxus's Hydra Sleek until i found someone reviewing this so i thought i'd give it a shot. It leave my hair even silkier than the hydra sleek and my hair is much much much easier to straighten. it smells horrible however.... :( but i got used to it. i bought the HUGE bottle from Ulta for about 23 bucks i think it was on sale. A little spendy but i think it's worth it. I will continue to call this my Holy grail conditioner until i find something better.

This conditioner elimates my drizzy hair and keep the moisture after i blow dry my hair. After i shampoo my hair with the Redken Smooth Down shampoo and i apply the condtioner 5 cm above my hair roots (not to make my scalp too oily). Left it for about 5 min and rinse with cold water. Towel dry and apply Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide then blow dry. Wala! my hair so beautiful and smooth!

I am not impressed! I usually use All Soft which is great, very moisturizing and doesn't weigh my fine oily hair down at all. Smooth Down made my hair even more frizzy and tangly (i never get tangles in wet hair).

My hair is med-long, dry and color treated and I was kinda shocked at how frizzy and dry it looked after I blow dried it. The smell isn't good or bad. I won't buy this again, will stick with All Soft.

This is a good product. I use it about everyday actually.I do not feel that it is too heavy but does just enough to help with the flyaways and frizzies.

Redken Smooth Down conditioner (8.5 fl oz for $15 usd/ 33.8 fl oz for $33 usd) for frizzy and dry hair. The conditioner is of a shimmering vanilla tone, and yes shimmering but small size that disappear after the wash. Smooth Down conditioner smells so amazing of a fresh flower mix the scent of the ocean, which I love the scent because it is very invigorating while I put my hair in a a bun and wash my body. I have a fine and straight hair and this conditioner works great on my hair and does not causes any problems. Smooth Down conditioner keeps my hair shinny, soft and smells good for a few hours. If you want a rich and fresh smelling conditioner to keep your hair soft and healthy, this one might be a great for you.

I really love this conditioner! it makes my hair feel nice and hydrated. This is a much better hydrating conditioner than the ALL Soft. The All soft made my hair so fluffy. This makes my hair feel soft and smooth without feeling greasy and weighed down. Perfect for a good moisture rich conditioner. I like to change around the hair products I use. Probably because my hair changes so much in winter vs summer. I use this along with the all soft shampoo in winter when my hair gets drier.

I love this conditioner. It makes my hair feel so silky and smooth and it stays that way all day (doesn't get dry and frizzy as the day progresses). It also keeps my pin-straight hair from getting 'dented' when I wear a hat over it. I can wear a hat for a few hours and when I take my hat off, my hair is still fluffy and uncreased. Definitely the best conditioner I have ever used!

I bought this with the shampoo when one of the local salons was having buy one, get one free deal. I returned the shampoo after one use because it way to heavy for my hair and made my roots greasy almost instantly. But despite the fact that my hair was weighed down down and oily, my hair was frizz free, which was very nice. I assumed it was the conditioner that made it so smooth, so I kept it.
Maybe it was the shampoo that had all the moisture? I've continued to use this conditioner, and I must say that it really hasn't been all that moisturizing. My hair looks pretty dry after using it. I've tried rinsing it out right away, and leaving it in for several minutes, but either way my hair just always feels dry and looks frizzy. I wish the shampoo wasn't so oil inducing, because besides the heavy weight of it, it was pretty decent.
I've used the Butter Treat before with much better results, so once this conditioner is gone, I might try that. Really disappointed in Redken though. Also upset that I spent about $14 dollars on this stuff :(

I have very curly, extremely frizzy and dry hair. I just bought this product and I never regret. It makes my hair manageable n especially after straightening with iron, my hair looks like great, viola! There's a huge difference between using this conditioner compared to others. I read raves on the butter treat n I would like to try this product too n make a comparison. I tried allsoft but this range is just not for me. It's just like any ordinary hair product n I regretted buying.
The smooth down products are really meant for frizzy n unmanageable hair. I highly recommend it!

I never really understood why redken conditioners came in smaller bottles than shampoo. Are you supposed to use LESS conditioner? Anyways, i used this along with the shampoo, and it smells really good. Not too strong either, so i really liked it. The thing I hate is that it's not really that moisturizing for my hair. After I started using this, my ends have been looking drier.

After using this three times during 9 days, I decided that it just HAD to stop. The first use went fine, very lovely smell and my hair looked goooood! But after the second use, my hair started to matt the day after washing/cond. And after the third use, I got serious matting/tangling. My otherwise so silky (but frizzy) APL length hair was stiff, dull and coarse. And if I grabbed some of it and lifted it up and out into the air, it would stay there. Scary and really weird! But, I guess that is what buildup does. I use a shampoo with SLS every time I wash my hair, so not clarifying was`nt the problem here.
This conditioner WAS also hard to rinse out. But; for the great result I was expecting I could have lived with that. So all in all, this conditioner disappointed me a lot. The only product I will use from Redken hereafter, is my beloved Anti-Snap. Edit 11/4/2010 My short journey with this conditioner have damaged my hair SO much. I now have to cut nearly two inches off of it (my last trim was only 5 weeks ago!!!). If I could remove the one lippie, I would!

I definitely LOVE Redken Smooth Down line, it is the BEST for taming THICK, COARSE, BRITTLE, DRY, DAMAGED, FRIZZY hair. You will not believe how smooth your hair will feel after using the shampoo and conditioner. The All soft line is also excellent, however if you have very frizzy hair go with this line and you will never want to use another shampoo and conditioner again!!!!

This conditioner is so amazing. It does exactly what it says and really saved my fried and dyed hair! I went from black to blonde and have been using this conditioner for two weeks and my hair is already back to its natural health. Didnt even have to cut off any hair! It like actually fixed my split ends and dryness! It really isnt that expensive if your think about it. Right now in most places its 25 dollars for 1 L. and it lasts FOREVER. Compared to drug store brands which can range any where from 6 dollars to 15 for a small bottle that you have to use twice as much!Buying this stuff is a smart move if you have damaged hair!

I have been having frizz problems for the past few months and have tried countless styling products; gels, leave-in conditioners, hairspray, creams, etc. Matrix color care stopped working as well so I got this instead because it claims to help with frizz. Well, I LOVE this conditioner. My hair is very fine and this makes my frizz disappear and does not weigh down my hair AT ALL. My hair feels much softer and looks shinier. I also love the clean scent. Holy grail. I'm happy I tried this and will definitely rebuy.
