like a lot of ladies said on the website..i tried to love this product, i forced myself to see a difference in my hair.
i was SO dissapointed with this shampoo.
the lady said it would be perfect for my long dry thick hair...YA RIGHT.
i washed my hair in the morning and a few hours later i had giantttt flakes of dandruff and my roots were greasy & my ends were super dry.
i give up on the shampoo , the conditioner is alright(for now)
i had to use dish soap to remove all the gunk that this left in my hair
i do not recommend this shampoo at all

Well talk about expensive here! I have dry, thick, frizzy, and puffy hair that go just below the shoulders. This product sorta...not really pleased me. It made my hair soft and silky. The frizz toned down a bit, and the puffiness was gone! That being said I used the matching conditioner *I always use conditioner NO MATTER WHAT!!* and I blow dried my hair. I noticed that if I air dry...the puffiness is HUGE and the frizz doesn't help either. You gotta give it some time, but It's not something huge. Don't get me started on the price either!!!! I won't be buying this again. You can get better shampoos for a cheaper price. Plus it's not sulfate free! It's an okay product, I mean it's not really something you wanna get for such a price. Not a bang for your buck. I really wanted to like this. Sucks for me =-(

All I can say is...WOW! I have super thick and coarse hair and never bothered trying out this shampoo until now because I thought it wouldn't really help. I have been using this product for 2 days now and this is the first product to really stop all my frizz and make my hair super soft and managable.

My hair type is moderately thick, dry, damaged, wavy. Might I add, it's at the long hair don't care stage, so I'm not expecting any miracles in the damage repair department. However, I bought this shampoo on a recommendation for long hair, and while I don't think it was made for that, I do like it. It smells good - elegant I'd say. The cleansing quality is okay though; I feel like it moisturizes the scalp but does not cleanse as well. That being said, I have my mom's "dandruff curse," so honestly nothing dandruff shampoo works for it. Anyway, I think my hair type is made for more damaged/dry types than frizzy, like Redken Extreme. Though this is my fault for refusing to get my hair trimmed and straightening once a week. Do try it out I you don't abuse your hair like me :)

I have very thick, poofy and slightly waved hair. I used this combined with the conditioner. I had high expectations about this product, but sadly it dissapointed me... It does not clean my hair at all and my hair gets more and more greasy everytime I wash my hair. My hair got knot-free and soft, but more kind of greasy-soft. It did not 'tame' my big hair, it did actually make it bigger and gave my hair some wierd curls. The bottle is not very inspiriring and the price is too high for my opinion. I really want to like this product, but sadly I can't say anything good about it ;( Definitely not a re-buy :(

This product works wonder on my dry and frizzy hair. Smells fantastic and it is a little bit expensive in Malaysia. RM46 for that small bottle. I love this and will definitely buy it again. This product suitable for people who always style their hair with heat ( blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron etc.)

This product works wonders for my dry frizzy hair. My hairstylist taught me that wavy/cury hair should not be brushed or combed which was causing majority of my frizz as well as the shampoo I was using which was robbing my hair of moisture. He recommended the Redken Smooth Down Shampoo and Tec Italy Reconstruct Balsami Totale (not to be applied to the roots since my roots are naturally oily) since the Redken SD Conditioner was too heavy for my hair. I guess you really need a knowledgeable hairstylist to recommend products for your hair type and needs and not just choose a product all willy nilly :) Plus the scent is GR8!!!!!

This shampoo is really too moisturizing for me. I can use this every now and then but I could never use it twice in a row as one time is enough for a build up for product in my hair. I won't buy this again. It's too rich for my hair.

I wanted to like this shampoo, because my hairdresser raves about Redken products and I want to love them. They seem to work for everyone else but me.
I used this in conjunction with the Smooth Down conditioner and I wasn't impressed. I was expecting smooth, moisturized hair but instead it dried my hair out and made it feel heavy and not very clean. The smell is nice and that's about the only positive thing I can say about this line.

Redken Smooth Down (8.5 fl oz for $15 usd and 33.8 fl oz for $26 usd) is a shampoo use to soothes frizzy and dry hair. I have a normal fine straight hair but I enjoy using this shampoo. Smooth Down smells AMAZING of a fresh blend of flowers and ocean. The product is a red brown liquid solution that is kind of watery. The shampoo does provides a lot of studs for easy and enjoyable washing. Smooth Down gives a great result, my hair has becomes soft, healthy, and shinny. This is one of the best hair shampoo in the market and it can suits any types of hair even though it claims to use for a frizzy and dry hair. If you are looking for a great shampoo to gives shine and softness for your, you might like this and plus the scent is amazing.

UGH, i wanted to like this. But maybe it's cause Redken products just aren't for me. It's an okay shampoo for me, it lathers well, washes my hair, i just had higher expectations that maybe it would make my hair smoother and less frizzy. but my hair's still the same, if not worse because this dried my hair out a little.

This shampoo is great for chemically treated, curly/wavy, or textured hair. It lathers nicely and has a light scent that smells good but doesn't linger. This shampoo comes out as more of a clear liquid than a cream, which I don't mind. When you buy the 1L bottles, though, it disappointed me that it didn't come with a pump =(
I use this along with my Redken All Soft conditioner, and it works wonders! will repurchase =)

Edit: I have switched back to Color Extend, as my hair is colour-treated once again. I prefer the creaminess of CE to the SD's consistency. I also got very sick of the scent of Smooth Down.

This was just an average shampoo on my hair. It wasn't very moisturizing, and my hair did not have that silky feel that I covet after rinsing. I am a major product junkie so I have tried many shampoos over the past few years. I really wanted to like this one because I have heard many great things about the smooth down line. I will finish this bottle since I have the butter treat from this line, but I will not repurchase. I purchased when Ulta had Redken products Buy 2, Get 1 free.

*EDIT* This is great in cold, dry weather - no problems! But it's not for any other time of year... *END EDIT* It's too heavy for my hair. The Butter Treat conditioner works perfectly for the length of my hair, but when I use this shampoo and my hair dries, it looks like I haven't washed it. It might be OK in winter, but I definitely wouldn't buy it again. I mainly have dry, thick hair, but I can't use shampoo that's too moisturizing. Giovanni 50/50 works just about right for me.

I was quite excited to use this product after reading all the great reviews. However, as I used this shampoo plus the matching conditioner, I found my hair to be weighted down, greasy looking hours after I washed it (it dried greasy looking, much to my chagrin), and generally not feeling clean. I tried it for three washes, one time even after a deep cleansing treatment that I do once every two weeks. My hair is fine, blonde, and damaged from dying it two years ago. Unfortunately, I have to give this one a thumbs down and I ended up returning it.
