I have found that this is the perfect brush for contouring my cheeks with powder products. It's chiseled and gives me the perfect line. It's soft but not too soft that I don't get the definition I'm looking for. If it's too dark I blend it out with the ELF kabuki brush.

I love this brush! This is my first "high-end" make-up brush, and I am not disappointed. It is so soft and I love that it retracts into a small little container that looks cute in my makeup bag. Sometimes I leave the brush partially retracted to get a more stiff brush that deposits more color, then I use the full brush to blend. I haven't had any problems with the packaging, but I can understand what others have said about it - it does seem weak.

I don't use this so much for bronzer but more as a portable powder brush. My MU bag is a bit cluttered and I like that I can close the lid and keep it clean. I use this for Benefit Bluff Dust, for Jurlique Silk Dust - whatever powder I'm wearing. Sometimes for blush or bronzer but not so often. Soft, doesn't shed.

Apparently confusing this with the retractable powder brush, I bought it from strawberrynet.com. What a dissappointment. This thing just doesn't work, everytime I try to use it, all parts come out like a cheap, disposable product.

Aside from what all the other reviewers have said about the letters STILA rubbing off early in the game...
The brush itself, after numerous washings and drying...does not shed and stays soft. This is definitely a high quality brush. At first, I thought it could be a tad softer and felt scratchy, but it is actually very good for bronzing and blush since the brush hairs pick and hold onto pigment. A very soft brush may blend well, but may not pick up pigment well enough to hold and buff into a desirable spot. My casing has not fallen apart yet so I am just reviewing the function of the brush itself.

Disappointing. Cheap packaging. It doesnt close properly AND it dents easily. The brush is too tiny to be a good bronzing brush. SAD =(
Edit: Well, the packaging is horrid / cheap but the brush is of good quality. It's incredibly soft against my skin. I carry it around with me for blush touch-ups.

The brush itself is just OK, but nothing to write home about (IMO). I wish the head was bigger and fluffier, but it is decent at applying powder (which is what I have been using it for). I like the idea of a retractable brush but the packaging is very cheap (as others before me have mentioned). I believe the bristles are made of goat hair and while it is relatively soft, sometimes I can definitely feel it scratching my face a bit. Overall, an OK brush but there are better out there (ones I probably can't afford).

The Stila Retractable Bronzing Brush is one of my favorite brushes of all time! It was recommended to me by the saleslady at the Stila counter. I was buying the bronzer at the time. I cringed at the price but decided to go for it since I had never used a bronzer before then and I wanted a good brush. Plus I love that it's retractable. I've had this brush for about 4 years now and it still works great. The bristles are very soft and this transfers the bronzer onto my face flawlessly. The lettering did wear off of the brush and it dented a little also but other than that the actual brush head is made of great materials and works like it's supposed to. I still gave it 5 lippies bc I love the quality of this brush and after going through Lancome, Sephora, and MAC blush and bronzer brushes this one's still my favorite.

The brush alone I thought applied my Stila bronzing powder nicely. Unfortunately, that is the only thing good I can say about it. It is put in a CHEAP tin-like container and falls apart. The letter all rubs off too. This was never put in my purse and sat in it's own compartment in my train case. It's really horribly made and I'm shocked that Stila is still selling these horrible brushes now for quite a few years. This brush is most certainly not worth it.

I'm anal and like my companct to match my brush.... I guess I'm going to have to change my bronzer too. Bummer, because this has been a staple for me for a few years now.

For the price, this brush is not worth it. The bristles are soft and fine for blush application to keep in your purse, but the case it comes in is awful. As another reviewer mentioned, the writing wears off, the case dents easily and my glue loosened so the case came off the brush handle. For the price, it is not worth it.

Good product but not for it's intended purpose. It is good for blush and powder. It picked up too much of my bronzer even after I tapped the brush before applying. Packaging sucks which is common with all Stila products in general.

a good on-the-go brush. but the packaging is AWFUL. i mean, AWWWFUL. all the prints on the brush have come off after a while. now it looks like one of those tacky retractable brushes you get from drugstores. and, omg, it dents after a while because of the flimsy metal. quality wise, it isnt one of the best but its not bad, compared to Laura Mercier (another overrated cosmetics brand!!!!). its denser than my Chantecaille powder brush so i usually reach for this when i need a more polished finish/heavier coverage.

i used to carry this around in my bag for touch-ups during the day (i prefer brush to sponge for pressed powder application) but since i have got the Luminizing Color Powder case from Shiseido for my pressed powder (they are the same size but it comes with a little brush in the case in a separate compartment), i no longer need this brush. even if i did, i'd at least get something that doesnt look tacky!

this is one of my favourite brushes. i use it to apply blusher mainly. its soft but picks up enough colour - not too much (especially when i use more pigmented blushers) but just enough (i usually use more neutral blushers so sometimes i need to dust on a couple of times) and this lets me do it, without scratching my face.

plus, its retractable, so its really convenient to carry around.

A great multi-task brush for the girl on the go! I too have had this brush for so long that the lettering has worn off & still looks as good as new. So far all of Stila brushes prove to be top quality & well worth the expensive prices because they will last a lifetime! I especially like this one because I am always traveling and this brush I use for applying my bronzer & my blush. It is the perfect size for all your beauty needs!!

I have had my brush so long the words have worn off but the brush is still soft and not shedding at ALL. It is very convinent to stick in your purse or travel bag or to have on your makeup table. perfect brush.

I really like this brush. For me it suits its purpose perfectly! It s small and handy to carry around and fits into every bag. I use it to touch up my powder or bronzer during the day or when I m late and didnt have time to do my makeup at home then I do it in the car on the passengers seat and since I cant carry all my normal sized brushes around this is perfect! Applies bronzer perfectly, no streaking and smearing and applies powder well too. I hate the packaging though- the whole overly girly colourful stuff but well its practical and havent found one to replace this one yet.

I love this little brush, but I just don't reach for it enough these days.

I use this as a travel blush brush, because I don't really use bronzer. It's too densely packed to be used as a powder brush, but it's perfect for contouring. The more you use and wash it, the fluffier and softer it becomes. The packaging is super cute, and great for keeping in compact spaces.

Retractable brushes never seem to have as good quality bristles as the regular kind (though I'm at a loss to understand why), and this is no exception. However, compared to other retractables I've tried, this is excellent quality, even if not up to the standard of Stila's regular brush line. The bristles are soft and not especially dense, giving the rather unwelcome effect of a concentrated yet imprecise application. This makes the brush more suited to products such as powder and bronzer than blush. I find it best with pressed products, used in a swirling motion to pick up product, then again swirled (rather than stroked) on to the face. It has proved exceptionally durable, having been lugged round in the bottom of my rucksack for months of travel without showing a dent, and barely any scratches. For an everyday brush for your bathroom shelf, there are better non-retractable products around (such as Stila's #21), but I would highly recommend this one for its combination of quality and portability if a travel brush is what you're after.

I'm loving Stila's bronzer thus I need a brush. This brush matches the compact wonderfully. But I'm at a loss as to why it's portable. Also, the thin copper packaging seems like an accident waiting to happen. I can't imagine it looking good for long. At least not in my purse. It's pretty soft but seems small. I ended up sending this one back and purchasing the Bobbi Brown bronzing brush instead. It was less expensive and IMO, a better product.

This is a great brush- and it's perfect for bronzer! I find the bristles to be very very soft (as soft as Stila's other brushes). I could see how the case could get scratched up, but in all honesty, why would you carry around a bronzing brush?? LOL I also think it was very cleverly made- I love how you can cover the bristles fo they don't get damaged when covering the brush back up.
