I was skeptical on this product but I bought it anyway. Wow! I am impressed. I removed all my makeup including my mascara with my problems. The next day I did the same thing with a regular wash cloth and my mascara and eyeliner were not coming off. I rubbed and rubbed and nothing. So I do believe the magic mitt does work. It feels good on my skin and my skin doesn't dry out or get irritated.

This mitt truly is magic! I wish I discovered it years ago before I wasted hundreds of euro trying to find a decent cleanser/makeup remover. I know it sounds unbelieveable, but all you need is warm water and the mitt removes EVERYTHING! I always swipe rosewater over my skin after to remove any final traces of makeup but really, I don't need to. I find it best to clean it with a plain bar soap so it's super cheap to maintain too! Mine lasts about 6 months using twice daily so at €20 for the mitt, it is really good value for money. Plus I love the fact that I'm not using any nasty chemicals or detergents on my skin anymore, just plain water. So happy to have discovered this product!

The first time this was demonstrated for me at a training at work, I had to buy it. It removed ALL makeup without using any cleanser at all. The trainer said to wash it with bar soap to get any makeup residue off it. Since bar soap is so awful for your body, I never buy it or have it in the house. I tried washing it with other cleansers and it doesn't get very clean. That would be the only downside to the mitt.

It does not remove make up. It looks like it does, but if you take a bit of oil on your cotton ball and swipe your face you will see all the grease is still there. This mitt made my skin break out after a few days of use. I had to throw it away.

I've been experimenting with oils for the past year or so, trying to find the best way to remove makeup from my dry (prone to dry weather flaking) skin. While jojoba oil had been working well for a while, as winter is rolling around I was looking for something with more oomph. This mit is part of my new winter skin regimen: I wipe off my makeup with the mit, draping it on my face to steam it a little, and then while my face is still damp I apply Crunchy Betty's Royally Flawless Facial Oil (which I get off her etsy site... as soon as I write about a thousand more product reviews I can introduce it to MUA product reviews... irritating I can't do it now). Anywho, having spent my high school and college years with an awful parched face due to my antiquated beliefs that you need to strip your oils with soap every day, this mit has been awesome. Have used it for about a month so far and it's been holding up well... If it gets worn out a lot over time (I expect it will wear some eventually), I'll post an edit.
Oh, just make sure you don't let it sit wet for long periods of time, as recommended in the instructions. I wouldn't store in in the shower.

This is a microfiber mitt. It's not washcloth material as a couple of reviews indicate but you can find microfiber cloths much cheaper than this. I will say, however, that this cloth is very effective without ruining my skin which some microfiber cloths have done because they can be so harsh. I don't use this for removing makeup but an exfoliator. It does a great job without leaving raw spots like the last microfiber cloth I tried did. Yes it's overpriced but it's pretty and much nicer to use than a microfiber cloth from the automotive dept at Target. I'm happy with my purchase.

I'm mid thirties. I used Jane Irdale Magic Mitts for over a year. Before then I used wipes. I used to be lazy and ignorant regards to skin care. I believed I was doing my face a favour not using cleanser. I now know my skin hates SLS and any wipes. I felt the mitts did clean my face and when new they are soft and quick. After a month or two of washing them with handwash or soap (in very hard water) they go hard and rough, and I had to rub my skin harder to get the same amount of cleaning as when new. So for me the mitts don't last longer than a bottle of cleanser. I had an operation and had to take a short course of immunity suppressant medication. For months after I was driven crazy by itchy sensations all over my face and in my eyes and nostrils. I finally figured it was an over abundance of Demodex. A child's microscope scraping of oil from my nose confirmed this. It's took several months to get the numbers down to a low level. Using natural liquid castile soap with Tea Tree oil. (300mls of soap mixed with filtered tap water, 20 drops of TTO in a 'Method' foam making bottle. Need to shake before use.) Half the population has Demodex, it's not a big deal. Just need to use a gentle cleanser that cleans the pores. I'm using Jan Marini Bioglycolic Cleanser now as the soap is too drying now I use Retinyl Acetate, and is bringing on fine lines. Must use Sun screen if out during the day especially if using acids or Retinol. The Jane Iredale Magic Mitt would be fine to use for a short time or if you use a good cleanser once a day.
UPDATE
Wrote that review five months ago. Have changed my ratings to more positive as started to use the mitts again (to remove the Jan Marini cleanser initially) and have actually been using mitts more than any cleanser. Easiest way to clean your face without splashing water everywhere! It does remove mascara but I'm not sure if dragging the eye lids side to side is a good idea. Also, I wouldn't recommend using soap on your face if the soap is alkaline. Which is usually the case.

I love this product and the best thing for me is that it's perfect to use on travel since it's so small and light and there's no risk of spilling. It may look expensive but if you think how much you safe on cleanser it's totally worth it. It does remove all my make up, even the mascara very easily and only with warm water. I think it's even better for my mascara than my previous eye make-up remover since I never wake-up with mascara smudges. I always wash it with soap after use and let to dry.

Wow! I can't believe this actually works! I was seriously skeptical but it was cheap and the novelty hooked me. Imagine my surprise when, at the end of the day, I soaked this in warm water (no cleanser!) and swiped it around my face. Everything came off! Even my eye makeup! I was stunned! It gently exfoliates and leaves your skin soft and clean...no after cleansing tightness here! I've been using it for exactly a week (at night only, Jan Marini bioglycolic cleaser in the morning...review to follow) and I adore it! After I use it I swipe it across a bar of soap, lather it up and rinse and it's clean and ready to go. Ring it out and hang it up and it's dry in no time! A month or two ago my skin started FREAKING OUT with serious breakouts and now, in the last week, it's starting to clear and heal! I don't know if it's this mitt alone but I'll happily keep using it. I'm going to get some for my girlfriends and family and some backups just in case! Never want to be without this thing. Great for travel, too. Easier to pack than a bottle of cleanser, takes up hardly any room. Love love love!

I was definitely surprised by how well this worked, but another reviewer's comments about the material being the same as a baby washcloth makes me wonder. If that's not true, I'd definitely buy this again when it gets worn out, but if I can get a cheap version of this then I'd go for that! Haven't tried this on waterproof makeup yet though.

I can't believe I was duped into buying this overpriced piece of fabric... It's the EXACT same material as my 2 dollar headband I use when I wash my face... I paid almost 20 bucks including shipping!
My face still felt not clean after using the mitt.... So I used my regular cleanser right after...
And to top it off, after using the mitt, I still had makeup residue come off on the cotton pad I used to apply toner..... wth?
But the worst part is that I woke up the next morning with two new big cystic zits on my face.... Wth??? This obviously means that it failed to take off all my makeup... And did i mention I used my regular cleanser right after? I think all the mitt did was push the makeup deeper ino my pores....
False advertising.... Knew it was too good to be true.... Hates!

This is wonderful for removing even waterproof eye makeup from under eyes. It seems simple but there's something about the material that totally works better than any eye makeup remover out there.
Sadly all eye makeup removers give me those milia, white bumps around my eyes and I break out. With this my skin is clear and no milia!! I use it with water only and for removing waterproof eye makeup only, so can't speak for how it removes foundation etc. I wash it with gentle handsoap and rub the material together to remove the makeup smudges, it's lasted for 2 years and just bought an extra one :)

I will never put another chemical make up remover on my face again thanks to this! I am overly impressed with how well this works that not only am I going to buy another one for me to have for work and my gym bag but I am also buying one for all the gals on my Christmas gift list. Reading through the reviews I have found those who were not impressed were not caring for it properly. Follow the instructions and you too will be in love!! This truly is magical.

OMG. This thing is awesome! I admit that I was disappointed when I opened the package. It was way smaller than what I was expecting. But, smallness aside, the thing works AWESOME! I don't wear foundation but I do wear concealer (Amazing concealer), powder, eye liner, shadow AND, here's the best part....Dior Show Blackout mascara. I have a hard time getting off the Blackout mascara with my regular face wash plus an exfoliating wash cloth. I always have leftover black smudges that I end up removing with jojoba oil and a q-tip. However, somehow this magic mitt with zero cleanser on it removed ALL of the Blackout. I don't know how that is possible, but I know that if something passes the Blackout test, then it is a winner. As the directions stated, I washed it in the sink with some handsoap and the loads of black mascara came out completely.
While the size is somewhat smaller than I expected, you don't really need it to be bigger. There is plenty of surface area the way it is, and actually its smaller size allows it to dry very quickly. I am so excited that I discovered this! I have very sensitive skin and its dry as well, so using less face wash will be awesome for me. If you have $15 to blow on something like this, I would say that it is definitely worth it.
**Update: 4/1/11: Now that I have been using this every single day for 6 months, I thought I would report back. My Magic Mitt is still in fantastic condition. I originally purchased two because I figured that I would rotate them. But, I haven't even used the 2nd one! I compared the two and the only difference is that the one I use daily is slightly faded in color. I now use it with a mild facewash and it gets every single bit of my eye makeup off. I then handwash daily with a gentle shampoo and hang to dry. I was washing it with hand soap, but for some reason, I couldn't get the eye makeup out of the Mitt with that. The shampoo does the trick with minimal effort. I should have sent the 2nd one back because obviously I won't need it for a long, long time.

I know a lot of people really like this mitt, but I honestly found it to be an extremely over-priced wash cloth. :( I was really hoping these special fibers would remove all of my makeup and therefore make it easier for traveling (not have to bring all my cleansers and toners with me). I tried using this several different ways (with cleanser, without cleanser, cleanser applied to my face, cleanser applied to the mitt)-- but no matter what I did, there was still dirt left on my cotton ball after toning. Maybe this picked up slightly more dirt than a regular washcloth, but I really couldn't tell a significant difference. Also, even after hand washing this throughly after each use, I can still see the stains from my foundation. I know you're not supposed to run this through the washer, but I'm really considering it! The fibers were certainly soft enough and didn't scratch my face, so that's a plus.
This has gotten so many good reviews though, it certainly doesn't hurt to see if this product will work for you!! I recommend purchasing this from DermStore (they have free shipping and a great 30-day return policy).

I was led astray by the reviewers on this thing. I ordered this online and could not believe I paid what I did for this thing when I received it. I would have done a lot better if I'd had gone and bought some baby wash cloths for a couple dollars. That's exactly the kind of material this is. The construction is encredibly simple to justify the higher price. It probably cost less than a dollar to make - and that's no exaggeration!

I was a skeptic when a co-worker of mine bought this as a gift. I couldn't believe a cloth and warm water could remove make up so efficiently. At night, I sometimes use it with Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser, then apply green tea moisturizer or replenishing night serum to my face. My skin has remarkably cleared up the past month and trust me, I've used many harsh antibiotics in the past for acne to achieve the same results (in such short time too!). I am amazed by this product and would highly recommend it to anyone.
After each use, I use warm water and dove sensitive soap bar to clean the cloth itself. Hang to dry. Works perfectly each time. I've noticed people complaining about how the mitt doesn't retain its texture/quality after throwing it in the washer. I guess they didn't read care instructions for the product: hand wash clean. It's easy and works every time.

This product is amazing! I was one of the skeptics that didn't believe a piece of cloth with no soap could remove makeup. For years I had been buying different cleansers trying to find a soap that could remove makeup, clear acne and blackheads but not over dry my skin (it doesn't exist). With this mitt I don't have to worry if my cleanser removes the makeup and so I finally found one that doesn't over dry my skin. I wet my face with warm water, soak my mitt, swipe, and bye bye makeup; then I use my cleanser to treat my oily skin and clogged pores. My skin has never looked better. The mitt does get stained after a while but even though it looks grungy it still works fine, I've had mine for 11 months and it's worked the same since the first day I used it.

My dermatologist actually recommended me this. I've been using this mitt since my skin got hyper-sensitive. So this is definitely good for any skin type regardless of how sensitive it is.
You can use any makeup cream or soap remover with this, depending on your reference, I use Yes To Carrots when I'm wearing sunscreen. I squeeze a bit on top of the mitt and gently scrub it off.
BUT honestly, it gently removes makeup BY ITSELF, no soap or makeup remover needed - just the mitt and lukewarm water. It can remove even waterproof mascara w/o scratching or pulling skin, especially around the eye area.
You just need to clean this with soap afterwards and let it air dry, and it stays clean! It's also an antibacterial mitt, by the way. It's a bit pricey for just a mitt, but it's worth keeping one. Just take good care of it - clean it every use and don't wring it too much, it will last for a long time. I bought mine 2 yrs ago and still working like new.
