I have sensitive, combination Asian skin as was looking for an ultra-moisturizing cream for the dry winter months in Australia. I was told by the rep that this cream would be a great thick creamy moisturiser for the winter so I decided to try it out despite its hefty price tag.
After my first application, I felt a slight irritating tingle on my face but decided to ignore it as it wasn’t causing me any pain – just a slight discomfort. I applied the cream a few more times and still got the same tingling feeling, but as I was not getting any rashes or irritations, I thought it was just how the cream worked. After a few days, my skin started to break out with red, painful pimples. I then stopped using the cream for a few days and started to notice I wasn’t getting any new pimples and that my skin was beginning to go back to its normal state. The cream itself is a little thicker than the ultra facial moisturizer but I didn’t see a lot of improvement on the dry patches around the side of my nose which was one of my main concerns.
I went back to the store to get this refunded as I’m not taking any more chances! I’m disappointed with this product as I have been using Kiehls’ Ultra Facial range for a while and have had no problems. In fact I love that range!
This hasn’t really put me off Kiehls as I love their range, but I would save yourself time and money as this cream isn’t really worth all the hype.

This is one of my go to creams for the spring and fall months. It is hydrating with a nice consistency. My skin has a nice clear glow after using it. My makeup goes on nicely over it. A definite repurchase.

I got a sample of this from the Kiehls stand in my local nordstrom, They were out of the rosa artica sample so gave me this instead. Moisturized my skin without feeling greasy, but broke me out so badly. Sad because i really enjoyed this, but atleast I didn't buy the full sized tube and only had a free sample.

I got a free sample of this from Kiehls - and so ar I really like it alot. Medium weight - non-greasy - hydrating. I need to wait and use it a bit longer to see if it reduced the appearance of lines, though.

This was a gift from a friend here in MUA. My skin is maturing, meaning expression lines are starting to show, unusual dryness in some areas (I'm acne sensitive, so this combination is REALLY strange). This cream is lightweight, sinks right in, amkes my skin feel moist and calm and best of all, no breakouts. A little goes a long way, but even if I over-do it, it's all good.

I have fairly dry skin and have been using the cream with SPF 23 for about 5 months. Jar is almost empty, so that's not bad for value. While I wouldn't consider it a "treatment," it feels wonderful and leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. It provides broad-spectrum sun protection and that's what I'm looking for in a day moisturizer.

My skin is dry in the winter. I normally use Creme D'Elegance, or EVOO. Abyssine Cream+ didn't feel like it moisturized my face at all. My laugh lines are usually barely visible, but the next morning, after using Abyssine Cream+, my face was so dry, it looked like I spent a day in the sun without any sunscreen. I ordered it because I remembered being very impressed by Abyssine Eye Cream...Disappointed! Waste of $45.

Firstly, when I walked into Kiehl's the sales girls were wearing lab coats. I had a 'lol' at this because their knowledge didn't go much further than 'vitamin E is good for your skin'. I warned the lady helping me that I had hyper-sensitive skin and wanted a gentle moisturiser with an spf and she said this would be perfect. FAIL. Epic fail. Firstly, the cream has an awful chemical/plastic type smell so I turned over to look at these so called 'natural' ingredients and the first half of the list is just chemical stabilizers with a little bit of Vit E and glycerine. How this is supposed to be beneficial to your skin I am at a loss to understand. I used it for a week to see if I was missing something but no, it's just horrible. The only good thing about it is the texture. Avoid like the plague if you have sensitive skin!

If you have Dry/Sensitive skin - then I hope you will Love this as much as I do.
As - I have Sahara dry skin , I find it a very soothing and an elegant product.
In fact - I am now using a good number of the Kiehls products and am so very happy with them.
I go to our local NM in St.Louis, and have become quite friendly with the representative - he is superb.
Kiehls has wonderful samples and give-aways, etc. So, you really do get quite a bit for your money.
I see that people think this is an expensive product - but compared to other brands, I find it reasonable.
As a makeup / skin care gypsy, I do not often stick with any thing but ... Kiehls is an exception.

The jar was a little unassuming to say the least, though surprising I liked the consistency of the formula. Upon application, I could feel the moisture right away and it absorbs well quickly. I've heard that some people got rashes with this cream, but I have sensitive skin and I was fine.
It is a little on the expensive side though. For my full review:

I have a very generous sample of this cream with the SPF23. It's a little pot, infact, and I got it with my Kiehl's order from a German cosmetics online store. I like the texture of this product (fluffy/ soufflée-like) and the scent (rhubarb, anyone?). Everything else, however, is not worth raving about. The cream is absorbed quickly by my skin and it moisturizes thoroughly but does little else. My skin is acting totally insane at the moment and even though I have no idea where that really comes from, the cream doesn't help it. I know an original size comes at the ridiculous price of 52 € and for that much money I'd expect it to do something other moisturizers don't, like improve my skin. I usually have no problems with my skin at all and now that everything's out of control, nothing's really helping. I usually like Kiehl's, especially their hair care, but this cream is nothing extra-ordinary. I will use up the sample and won't buy a regular sized pot. This wasn't meant to be a love affair, unfortunately. For texture, feeling & scent I'm giving two lippies. Because of the hefty price there can't be a third one.

I bought this product in January 2010. I had been using it everyday along with another product (toner) from DDF. My face broke out worse than my pre-teen students! I thought it was the toner and tossed it. I continued using the Abyssine moisturizer. I have had two med-spa facials and I have been unable to stop the breakouts on my cheeks and jaw line. Nonetheless, last weekend I stopped using the Abyssine moisturizer and bought some inexpensive ($10) Cethaphil at Target. My skin seems to be getting better. I have used about 1/4 of the jar. I am going to try to exchange it tomorrow...I will NEVER purchase the Abyssine facial moisturizer again.

I gave this two lippies because at first it seemed like a good product. My skin felt nice and smooth and then within an hour, it was a greasy mess. I got this as a sample from the Kiehl's counter. I'm 29 with combo skin and looking for some preventative anti-aging stuff, for preventing wrinkles and whatnot. The sales girl recommended this and also gave me some of the eye cream. I'm new to Kiehl's and have never tried their products before. This stuff would maybe be good for VERY VERY dry skin but I felt like I had a layer of gunk on my face. I wanted to actually wash my face and put on my usual stuff (Skyn Iceland products) and the next day I woke up and my skin STILL felt greasy. I do not really have oily skin, especially in winter and just coming back from traveling up in the mountains, so to have it feel that gunky and gross was odd for me. It even made me break out a bit. The texture is thick and nice but this cream is not good. Apparently this is their cream for women entering their 30s. I would never buy this. In fact, I threw away the sample.

This is a very good for dry skin: white, thick and creamy.
I have combo skin and for sure it gave me pimples... so, in order not to waste it, I gave it to my mum that has dry skin and she adores it.
Therefore I said this is perfect for dry skins but is a no-no if you have combo or are acne prone.
The scent is delicious and gets absorbed quickly, bu it is very RICH.
Beware and sample before buying!

Don't waste your money on this. For some reason, I've gotten loads of generous samples of this through the years and repeatedly tried it at different ages. Even with my skin becoming drier as I age, this product is still heavy, does not really absorb, caused a few pimples, and sure didn't help with fine lines. This is one of those products that just reeks to me of a cosmetic brand taking advantage of women's desperation.

I used this cream for about a week. At first, I thought it's not bad, it felt light on skin and didnt give me any irritations. But then, I noticed, that it doesnt hydrate my skin at all... even may be dehydrates...!
But most of the creams are not moisturizing enough for me during the winter (so I have to use Clarins's oil at night).

I'm 29, and I've been using this cream for about 6 months. I'm not typically loyal to any certain product, I like to switch things up, but I have *never* gotten so many compliments on my skin in my life since I've started using this. I get messages on facebook and girls come up to me all the time and tell me I have beautiful skin and beg me to tell them what I use so they can get theirs to look like mine. This cream is a perfect base under your makeup, it absorbs easily, and doesn't have any fragrance. It's not greasy and doesn't clog your pores. It's also perfect for nighttime use, bc it's not too heavy, but it still packs a powerful punch as a moisturizer. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't love this cream.

Im almost done with my jar and have purchased another. this is a great cream that hydrates well, doesn't irritate and feels good on my skin. I like the texture and it absorbs well. I have used it on it's own and with the serum. Im not sure about the antiaging abilities, but this works well and Im happy with it. I like that it has no fragrance.

Several MUAers have praised the moisturizing abilities of this cream despite its being designed for combination skin, so I'm a bit surprised at how completely inadequate the stuff is being, now less than an hour after application. I have only somewhat dry skin and the areas around my eyes and cheeks feel uncomfortable and pulled tight. I can usually apply just Perricone Face Firming Activator (though I usually use SK-ll underneath) alone and be okay so a big thumbs down here.

I've used this cream for about half a year already and have noticed considerable improvement on my face. My skin feels a lot smoother now. After a stressful day at work or a night out at the club, I would put on this cream before I head for bed. I would wake up the next morning with no signs of fatigue on my skin. I am not too sure how the anit-wrinkle effect of this product is, since I am only 21. However, I approve this cream for anyone who wants smooth, glowing skin the next morning. I bring this wherever I travel to. It's worked in the harshest conditions in England and in the balmiest weather in San Diego. A definite must buy.
