Avene is my favorite skin care brand hands down. I have really sensitive, dry skin and finding skin care products that can tackle both needs is such a challenge but Avene has really been my savior. I use their thermal water, rich and light moisturizer, cleansing milk, body cold cream- you name it I use it. This is their one product that hasn't left any impression on me. I bought this to help tackle some of my dry areas and I believe I got it for $32- it comes with 1 ounce of product. It has a consistency that is very similar to other serums- very gel like but possibly a bit more watery. It's just so average. It doesn't moisturize particularly well or soothe the skin. It just seems to me like a product I put on my face that serves no purpose. It doesn't break me out which is wonderful but it just doesn't do much. I prefer Vichy Aqualia Thermal though its more expensive. Try that instead.

I adore this. Because of medication I'm on, I developed horrendous acne, which I eventually nuked with Avene's TriAcneal, which is super-effective, but left my skin looking dry and tired. To counteract this, I started using this serum day and night. After I had used it twice - one night and one morning - I was in shock, my skin was so visibly improved. Plump, soft, glowing. I felt like years had fallen from my face. I was able to stop using foundation completely.

Only downside is that it runs out incredibly quickly, but never mind - it's not too pricy (in the UK anyway) and I'm saving on make-up.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!

I have sensitive (rosacea border, red bumps, flames at times to times) combination skin, and recently had a disaster with an Olay Regenerist sample that made me look like a disaster zone! I didn't even want to leave the house!!

I remembered that this had been helpful in the past, but for some reason left Avene, I think I was a bit "bored" and wanted to try something more "exciting" with more active ingredients (influenced by Paula Begoun's , for me, very unstuitable advice).

I put this serum on, sprayed some Avene mist on my face and finished off with Sukin moisture restoring night cream and woke up looking almost as good as new! It was a miracle!

Thank you Avene! I can not recommend this enough if you have sensitive, reactive, stressed skin! I mean I had even made an appointment with a Dermatologist the next day, desperate to get help, but I cancelled it as I almost had fully recovered! YEAY!

DO NOT use this if you have normal/ageing skin and want something extra. This is only really for those of us who have extremely fragile/rosacea prone skin. If you use this and are not the target group you are likely to be disappointed and not see enough change...

But for me, it is a godsend! :)

my skin is dehydrated but acne prone, i'm not sure if this really does anything to my skin, i think it helps a little bit but over all it's quite expensive to buy for something that dun make a noticeable difference, at least it didn't break me out so i'm on my second bottle but i'm in search for something better.

This has helped a lot with my winter oily-yet-dehydrated and acne prone skin. I put it, then my moisturizer with or wo salicilyc acid and has made my skin very soft and supple. No breakouts. I use it in conjuntion with the avene soothing mask. A little bit expensive but this is the only thing has worked for my problematic winter skin.

I'm not sure if I'm writing the review under the correct one? There are 4 different choices for the same serum????? In Canada, this is called Soothing Hydrating Serum (Unless I'm wrong and it's different?). Anyways, I tried this and didn't like it at all. I don't know why companies create products for sensitive skin and then include fragrance????? This is a rich and heavy serum that comes in great packaging, a glass pump bottle. It's too heavy for my face, even as a night cream which I was using it as. Even in the fall in Canada, sigh. I had high hopes for this as I love the thermal water spray from Avene. This did nothing to relieve my redness (slightly red across the nose and cheek area, possibly mild rosacea). And it made me break out in little red bumps. My face felt greasy every day wearing this, even after waking up the next morning to wash and put on makeup. I just always felt shiny and greasy when using this. Add to that the little red bumps, irritating fragrance and non-redness reducing effects, and I returned this to Shoppers today.

Although Iīm a big fan of the brand Avene, I didnīt like this product.
It didnīt give my any moisture at all and the soothing effect is jet to be found.
It felt like a had pure silikone on my face and the whole serum stayed on my skin and didnīt sink in.
I saw no effect on my skin and didnīt like the feeling of it.
Honestly, it also didnīt make my skin break out or caused any irritations.
If I want moisture and a soothing effect, I go for the avene moisturizing mask.

Absolutely fabulous serum - my skin drinks it up. I use it before my moisturiser during the day. In winter I sometimes use it under my night cream. Highly recommended!

I just finish the tube and decide to post now and forget eveything about this serum.
I got this for summer time when i need something light under ss and under make up and for my red, irittaed skin.
I think i had too big expectation about this product becouse
I knew it was a serum but this is more like a gel not even clear gel. When i start to apply it i was suprised to fell the cooling sensation and i was expecting some calming effects ..but nothing.
I dont know why they say this serum is more for dry skin when this products is not calming and after u apply only few dots..after the cooling fellling is passing u start to..fell the skin tight..and more tight..and this serum can't be used alone and thats very bad
I do have senstive,dry-combo skin..and it was not too gentle with my senstive..not too moisturising..not too..just sit there and do nothing.
In fact after i felt my skin so tight..i checked in mirror and i saw how my skin was..really greasy..not mat like after my Vit C serum. And after i apply it the ss..the skin become more greasy..i had to tap and take that greasy look..this ruined my ss protection..becouse i had to tape and absord using some toilet paper.
i used this next time with few precaution and same greay finish...and my skin is kind of dry.I wonder how an oily skin ll look after this serum.??? Bleah ..so dissapointed.
Here this is around 30euro..and for this money u dont get nothing in back..just that greasy finish who make u look like u just spend some time in rain. Why to pay to look bad?
Yes i hate when i send so much and get only so less.
I still love my Lacura Serum..wich is extremly cheap ..and still makeing me look so good.I do get daily compliments for my smooth, calmed, glowing skin. There are few collegs who dont belive me when i say i have hormonal accnee :)))
And yes the serum is in garbage..in a crise of "no more bad jokes" on my face(becouse here prods can't be returned)
Should i still answer if i ll buy this again? :))

I received two sample sized tubes of this and after finishing 1/2 of one decided I had to buy it.
I saw results within a week of use, here is how my skin has been saved:
-Skin texture has improved, looks well hydrated and plump
-My skin was less irritated and red than usual
-Dry flakes around nose and between eyes disappeared
-My skin has a healthy "glow" instead of looking dull
-People have actually commented on my "pore-less" skin...which never happens!
This does not aggravate my acne either.
The one and only draw-back to this serum is that it contains alcohol, which is absolutely unnecessary and a possible skin irritant but there doesn't seem to be much in it.
I highly recommend this product for someone with sensitive dry or combination skin.

I don't what to make of this.
I bought it to put under Avene Rich Compensating cream at night because I didn't find it moisturizing enough.
I really can't say that it works or not, so I will say it doesn't and I wouldn't buy it again and will use a different, more moisturizing night cream.

I have typical sensitive combination skin - slight dry cheeks, slightly oily T-zone. I had switched to SKII around 3 months ago and have found my skin seems dehydrated - looking dull, not pumped, tired ... I saw this Avene counter in Harvey Nicholas, I decided to give this a try - it is just HKD340, compare to average price of HKD500 for moisturizing serum.
I have very happy with this serum - it lives up to its promoise - claming and hydrating. The serum is transparent, gel like, and just take few seconds to penetrate and pump up my skin! Also, it has some cooling effect that many people with allergic skin will highly appreciate. I will buy this again for replacement.

I got samples for this product. I use it as a night cream in the winter time. I think it is too sticky for summer or spring. It is a so-so product. Nothing special nor any special ingredients to the skin.

Concentrated Thermal Spring water from Avene (on the bottle says, "Thermal spring water soothing serum") worked immediately on my irritated skin. I probably exfoliated too much or allergies to some product I was using... My face was all red and flaky. I thought Avene thermal spring water I love so much would work too. I bought and applied at night. By next morning, my face was all better. You don't need to put a lot. Just one pump will cover almost all face. Would buy again.

My skin finds it hard to absorb this serum. It also leaves the skin slightly sticky. As to the soothing properties, it is mediocre compared to the skin recovery cream. The SA claimed this is the best selling Avene product in Japan, alongside its mask. I don't understand the hype.

I have very sensitive, but rather oily skin, so I liked this product. It absorbed well, didn't leave my skin tight, and my pores looked better than usual, rich creams make them very obvious. I have mixed success with the Avene range but this is one of their better products for me. Currently using Eluage every other day - because it's quite strong, and this on alternate days - serum works well as a light mosturiser for me, because because the Eluage is quite rich. Serum doesn't irritate me at all.

Serums are all the hype at the moment - all brands are producing their own versions either as treatment or as intensive moisturizer! I had high hopes for Avene's version as they seem to be highly credited for understanding sensitive skin. Well - this Instant Soothing Serum is a light moisturizer that you apply underneath your usual moisturizer, so it actually isn't that intensive (if it were then it'd be sufficient to use alone). You need about 2 squirts to cover the entire face, so the small bottle doesn't last very long. It also contains fragrance (why is Avene still including fragrance in most of their products for sensitive/intolerant skin?). Like the Skin Recovery Cream, it doesn't really do much to ease skin sensitivity (for me anyway). It does however, come in a very hygienic and convenient glass pump bottle which looks very clinical. Given that it does little else than lightly moisturize, I don't think I shall be repurchasing this.

I received a sample of this Soothing Hydrating Serum and I like it. It provides extra moisture to my skin when my regular daytime and/or nighttime moisturizer just isn't sufficient for cold and dry wintertime. So I put on this Serum first, and then I put my moisturizer on top of it. I didn't experience any stinging and/or redness, even though I have extremely sensitive, dry skin with mild Rosacea. I think this also would be a good, light moisturizer for combination and/or oily skin. It's quite expensive, but a little goes a long way so it's worth the money IMO. I took one lippie off because it does contain polyacrylamide. It doesn't contain parabens however and it's oil-free. Update: I find this isn't as soothing as it claims, so I won't repurchase. Not a bad product though.Ingredients: AVENE AQUA 77%, METHYL GLUCETH-20, PEG-12, CYCLOMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, PROPYLENE GLYCOL CETETH-3 ACETATE, AQUA, POLYACRYLAMIDE, ALCOHOL, BENZOIC ACID, C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN, PARFUM, HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE, LAURETH-7, PEG/PPG-18/18 DIMETHICONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, PHOSPHOLIPIDS, SODIUM DNA, TETRASODIUM EDTA.

i dunno what this does exactly either. according to the SA, it's to be used before the Anti-redness Moisturizing cream. I bought the two as a set for a special price.

so i tried it and its a great cooling feeling but the after effect on my hands/face is quite tightening and dry.. yet sticky ? its not really a good feeling. i wont buy it again... seems redundant for me. maybe just for those with very intense redness problems.

I dont know what this does exactly but it only felt like light moisturizer to me. It kinda stings a little..i donno if maybe it was because I just used a microdermabrasion kit or what..but it hurt and it didnt "soothe". If my face wasnt broken out and it wasnt feeling dry, im sure this woulda been a lot nicer. I'll just stick with the thermal water spray. Prob wont buy again
