I really like this serum..because it seems to moisturize the skin really well.. However, it can cause acne for oily or combination skin..so I make sure that my skin is not too oily or I use a toner and benzyl peroxide acne cream for spots.. I would recommend this product as best for people with dry-combination spurts or dry skin. The packaging and the product consistency makes it pretty easy to get the product out of a near-empty bottle. The product price itself is a bit pricy but a little can go a long way.

When i used this product straight after cleansing without any serum, it didn't absorb into my skin effectively and I could feel my skin greasy but it didn't cause any break out. Now i am using innisfree serum before the sekkisei emulsion, i found it can absorb in my skin quickly and the skin is moisturized. I am not sure whether it's the serum that helps. Anyway, I will try to search for other product to replace it after finishing this bottle.

I got this almost 2 years ago and I'm not even half way through it. I genuinely have no idea what it does for my skin. It doesn't whiten, doesn't really moisturise on its own. It tends to break me out badly. It does not absorb into your skin cos it's just sits there and dries into a sticky layer. Some people have recommended using it as a lotion mask (soaking pill mask in the lotion), but I haven't really seen any remarkable improvement to the fairness/even-ness of my skintone. Though i gotta admit, it does make my face feel a bit more "juicy".
Lastly, i realised it tend to give me a lot of blackheads when I use it. is it really just me??
I noticed it has a very strong smell of alcohol so I'm a bit concerned. Overall I really hated the stickiness of it, and I wouldn't recommend you buy it if stickiness is a major pet peeve in skincare product.

This emulsion has a nice smell, it is soft, feels good on skin BUT it broke my skin on the next day, I got cystic acne and spent a lot $$ and used the Neutrogene Sking Clearing Toner everyday to get rid of the problem. Be aware this is one crap product that it is expensive.

This emulsion comes in a watery, almost gel like texture with minimal fragrance. Upon application, my face felt slightly sticky, but my skin drank every single bit of it. Doesn't make my skin feel oily, but it definitely does not leave my skin matte as described by previous reviewers.
It's a great product if you're looking for a hydrating series of moisturiser. Pretty expensive product, I believe that there are other comparable brands out there that delivers similiar results. No noticeable difference in brightening as well.

I just use this for my eyes area. Very moisturizing, more than the kose rice extract cream. My fine lines disappear instantly.

I really really wanted to love this product since the Lotion Excellent is a miracle product for me. But the emulsion didn't work for me as I had hoped. I used it together with the Lotion Excellent. Smells great, absorbs fast, matte finish. However, after one week of usage I started noticing blackheads and enlarged pores on my nose, enlarged pores on my upper cheek area, whiteheads and blackheads on my chin. Wasn't sure if this product was just reacting negatively towards Dr. Wu's Hydrating Serum that I was using but decided to test on half of my face without the serum. The side with the serum improved. The side with the emulsion stayed the same. The emulsion also didn't leave me with a glow. I stopped using it due to the whiteheads/blackheads it was giving me so I can't say if long term use will help lighten/brighten the skin. I would definitely try to get a sample before purchasing.

I bought a 35ml trial bottle of the Emulsion Excellent on ebay... it's like a runny moisturising lotion (I wouldn't wear it under makeup... it doesn't "absorb" completely. I've been using it at night like a serum) and I guess the main consequence of using it has been that it has brought a "glow" effect to my face. This was evident after one week!
I'd really like to buy the Lotion Excellent (which is supposed to be more moisturising than the regular Medicated Sekkisei Lotion) to supplement the effect.
I'm not sure if I can give it 5 stars because I suspect it is giving me pimples around my chin area... I'll report back after more long-term usage.

This can whiten your skin!!!! the If you want to whiten/brighten your skin, this is the product for you. After a bottle or two, you can see the result. (it will take time of course) This product is very popular in Asia, esp Japan. This product is very gentle and good for sensitive skin. But this product does not moisturize very well, especially in dry climate like in the US) it absorbs really fast and left your face dry again. My main concern is blackheads, so this is not the right product for me.
Pros: it DOES help you to brighten your skin, it takes some time though
smells fresh and good
Cons: it is expensive
not moisturize enough

I've extremely sensitive skin and it's hard to find a moisturiser that doesn't breaks me out. This emulsion moistures and whitens well, doesn't breaks me out at all. It helps to fade some scars and evens out my skin tone which is a plus. It hydrates well too and no more peeling and flaking skin for me.
I would say it's pretty expensive, SGD 82 for 140ml full retail size.
Matt application and it absorbs fast, my skin only starts to get slightly on the oily side in 4 to 5 hours after application. One cons is that I think it's giving me some whiteheads. Other than that, I love this. Oh and it smells nice too!
Update: Although it helps to fade some of my old scars pretty well, it started to give me lots of black and white heads on my cheeks which is a no good for me.

I was of two minds whether I would buy this or the cream one but the SA told me that the cream one is for dry mature skin. I have combi type skin so i choose this one. This product looks oily when applied eventhough it absorbs easily in my skin. For oily types, i dont think you would like the greasiness of this product. The pump is very nice and dispenses just enough fluid for each application. The bottle is quite sturdy but dont drop it. After 2 weeks of using this though, I observe that my skin is glowing, the pores are minimized and my skin tone looks great even with just sunblock on. I would probably buy this again if I cant find anything that easily absorbs in my skin without looking greasy.

I cannot believe there are so many negative reviews on the Sekkisei emulstion. It is simply amazing!!! I got it because a friend of mine brought one for herself from Japan and she loved it.I used it several times as well and was very happy with the results. It is milky and applying is extremely easy! I tap my face for 30sec after applying.Immediately you feel your face is smoother and what I love about this the most is the instant glow it gives my face. Not oily shine but a lovely glow!!! I love glowing skin and wiith my combination skin and large pores, my skin rarely has that healthy glow.
I could not resist and I finally got one myself. I noticed that my friends emulsion is medikated sekkisei and the one i got is non-medikated. I tried researching what the difference is and all i got is that you cannot put medikated on the bottle in the US. I really hope there is no major difference between the two.
Overall my skin feels smooth, moisurized and veeeery glowy!!!! Love it!!! I would love to get the toner(they call it lotion) too, but shelling another $50 for 200ml of toner is too much for me for the time being.

Can anyone tell me what this product really do? Not a serum, no SPF, runny texture for a lotion, moistures like just about anything else, with no apparent function.
I like Medicated Sekkisei toner, and I like the SPF25 Day Essence, but this? Can't tell what it is really worth. The pump is nice but ... argh.

I first bought a bottle of this several years ago and used it all up and switched to some other moisturizers that just didn't do it for me. Earlier this year I tried samples of moisturizers from Lancome and Chanel and they irritated my skin so badly that my forehead became all red and inflammed, it was horrible! I went to use the Nivea Cream; it helped and I'll use it in emergencies when my skin does become inflammed. Then I used Philosophy's Hope in Jar, and then I tried some Neutrogena Anti-Wrinkle Creams and that didn't help any. Most of the time they would just irritate the crap out of my forehead. Then I was browsing Bath and Body Works website and remembered how well this stuff worked on my skin when I used LM's Mineral Foundation and like a charm, it kicked my skin back in gear. My forehead looks back to normal.
I just recently went on a river boat so now my skin is super dry and flaky, so I need extra moisture. Because I do live in a very dry climate, I sometimes need the extra moisture, but most of the time I'll use this and it works wonders. I don't really notice a significant brightening of my skin tone.
When I apply it, my skin feels kinda tacky afterwards, but it doesn't last long when I apply foundation. I think the emulsion works as a primer for my foundation as well so I get two products out of one.
I don't know why so many others didn't give it a great review, but I know this stuff saved my skin and brought it back to its flawless beauty that I imagine it to be.

I liked the feel of Kose Sekkisei Emulsion initially. It was very milky, almost watery, yet made my face feel hydrated, soft, and comfortable; moisturized much better than anything OTC. It helped with my dry flakes and soothed other dry spots. But after using this product for a couple of days under my makeup, it gave me several pimples and red bumps. Once I stopped using it, the breakouts ceased and my skin returned to normal.
My skin is oily and can be cranky at times so maybe I'm not the best candidate for the heavier moisturizers. But, nonetheless, it's a very good moisturizer, just not for me. If you want softer skin, quenched with just the right amount of non-comedogenic moisture, then may I suggest Kose Moisture Rice Power Extract. It's a liquid (much like a toner) that nicely hydrates and comforts cranky acne-prone sensitive skin. But if you have dry skin, then Kose Sekkisei Emulsion could probably help. But, once again, I don't recommend it for the more sensitive skin types.

I have bought Sekkisei Emulsion once and Sekkisei Emulsion Excellent twice. First and foremost, these emulsions did not do anything effective in terms of skin lightening. They have proven inefficient in winter. I used them only during spring and summer.

Two words: No good. This milky liquid is too oily for my dry skin because it just SITS on top of it. Does not hydrate, gave me breakouts, no whitening effect whatsoever. Save your money. This product is out there to take advantage of you. Shameless.

I wanted to love this but it did nothing for my skin and it smells.
Somehow, the emulsion wasn't absorbed readily by my face and stays wet on my face for a long time.
Luckily I got samples of this so I didn't waste my money to but the full- sized bottle.

I have norma/combo skin and this moisturizer works really well for me. It doesn't leave a greasy feeling and actually makes my skin look very radiant. However, I did some research online about cosmetics products-animal testings and almost all Japanese products are tested on animals (required by the government!!! - please correct me if I am wrong) so I am not repurchasing this product eventhough it is working greatly on my skin.
