Despite its streakiness on the first 1-2 coats, this is a great color. Its perfect for work, an interview, or an important meeting - its just a classic pink color. I usually wear 3 coats of this, and it stays for at least 4-5 days (done professionally, it lasts for 2 weeks without chipping). Its one of my go-to classic color polishes.

i am a total nail polish addict ! but i must say that i did not give this nail polish the credit it deserves. i actually forgot about this polish until fairly recently and i always get compliments everytime i wear it !!! its definetly a very elegant polish that works well on fair skin. the consistency is good and i have never had any problems with streaking. highly recommended !

Absolutely love this colour! Along with others, don't know why all the negativity towards it. I was looking for a warmer toned pink, that wasn't extremely bright, just in-between. 2 coats max does the trick, even one almost covers it so I don't get how people say its streaky and a bad formula.. went on perfectly smooth for me! One of my favourite pink polishes, get the most compliments when I wear this colour on my nails as well. Looks amaaaaaazing on tanned skin tones :) I find it very wearable, not porno-ish whatsoever and not little girl pink either. Great buy, love love love it!

I'm surprised by the negative reviews but then again, it's all about personal taste. I do not find this colour to be "girly" or barbie pink. It is a tasteful pink with a slight frost finish. I get many compliments when I wear this polish. If I'm careful (and by careful I mean wearing rubber gloves when doing dishes), I can get four days wear without any chips. That's good for me. The first coat is a bit streaky, but nothing a second coat can't fix. 5 outta 5 for sure.

Well, I have to say that I am split down the middle on this product. In the bottle, it looks like a milky, warm pink - kind of subtle and sweet. On, however, it's a very cool-toned, frosted, bright pink (yes, Barbie pink, as other reviewers have claimed). Like other polishes with frosty or pearl finishes, I find Italian Love Affair to be a bit streaky and difficult to achieve a perfect application. I do think that pastel and frosty polishes share the common dilemma of imperfect formulas (for instance, Gargantuan Green Grape and Chicago Champagne Toast, both from OPI, have similar application/finish problems, as do my other frosty/pastel polishes from various brands).

BUT, I still do like it! I'm not a girly-girl, at all, so this Barbie pink is fun and different for me. I wear it on my fingers when I'm feeling a bit zany and out-there, but it's always a solid colour for my toes. Yes, the application is a bit of a pain and it can be a process to get the right amount of polish on the brush to avoid streaking or gooping. However, two coats is enough for ideal opacity and a non-streaky finish.

I think that cool-toned girls are going to find this polish far more complimentary against their skin, especially if you have a bit of colour (a bangin' summer tan, for instance). I think that there are far better pinks out there, from OPI and other, but I would probably repurchase this if I ran out.

Its alright if you are a nail artist but to have this color alone in my opinion is horrible.

I made it look nice with some of my flower designs and a gradient look but this polish alone is just trashy. WAAAY too barbie doll pink for me. I think it would probably look best on someone with really fair skin.

This is like a pearly pink . I'm only giving the overall rating a 4 because it's OPI . I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone unless you are a MAJOR girly girl . I just bought it randomly at Fred Meyers ; NEVER AGAIN!

Worst OPI I've never bought. I craved for something pink, but stylish pink. My long nails looked so cheap, and the texture was just awful. I gave it to my my 5 yrs old goddaughter to play with. Not good enough for porn star look, hah.

To be honest, I am a little surprised by the bad rating generated by this color. To me (I am NC35), what I was looking for is a bright Barbie pink, and this was perfect for me. I love pink nail polishes and I have tons of shade and this one is one of the most "fun" pink colors I own right now.

As for the "streaky" problem, I have never encountered that problem. I can imagine you will have trouble with the consistency if you do not apply enough, but...

In theory, I will get this again, but I have too many polishes....

It's the pink of a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, pink like bubblegum, percy pig, and just... a bright, cloying pink that makes my skin look darker than it really is. Very unlike the pearly opalescent pink of the bottle. No I wouldn't buy this again, because it looks cheap to my Asian eyes. And therefore I feel cheap.

In fact, I saw a gold-digger wearing this shade of pink.

Application wise, it's really streaky. Took me 3 strokes to achieve opacity, and it isn't very smooth.

It lives up to its name though, I DO feel like I'm having an Italian love affair. With...possibly, the guy who sells me my prosciutto.

It is, however, a very happy, pink colour. You need to appear really guileless to pull this colour off.

It's nice in the bottle and could be very pretty on darker skin tone people but for me.. it's just nothing special. Plus, it is little difficult to apply, it must definitely be two coats, otherwise its too stripy.
UPDATE: I just learned a trick how to use this - apply nice light shimmer color on top - I use "Up Front & Personal" to hide the uneven color.. and the result is soo beautiful, at least now I know how to use my "Italian Love Affair".

This shade looked so pretty in the bottle and really, who could resist the name of this one? However, it went on very streaky and the colour looked horrid on me. I couldn't even use it on my toenails. Gave it to a friend with a cooler tone and she liked it.

I really like the color of this polish, very girly dainty pink. I have used this lots of times and on my toes it is okay but on my nails it chips really quickly. I don't have to do anything to make this chip, other polishes last much longer on me. I love this shade but I am still racking my brain trying to find a way to get this to stay on my finger nails without chipping! Cute for toes though.

My store manager at the beauty supply had this color on, and I bought it cuz it's so pretty, and it was pretty on her. But she's like a NC25 and I'm like, not. Haha.

I still have it, used it once, and it looked terrible on me. I was like an Italian Mafia on me when it was a Love Affair on her. So I think I might put it up for swap.

I most definitely think that a nail polish is based on different skin tones and color preferences, so don't let people's review discourage you from buying it.

This is a beautiful color, and it would be a must have for someone who is lighter in skin tone....

Bought it for the name.. In the bottle it's this beautiful opaque milky pink but it doesn't translate on the nails.. It really is opaque - almost TOO opaque, as it turns out quite thick and chunky on the nails, but there's a weird frost to it, and it looks really weird on the nails. It doesn't flatter my skin tone either in the winter OR the summer - overall this one is a dud for me, I would not repurchase - but I will keep it around just because I love the name so darn much!!

This is a frosty barbie bubblegum pink that is not very flattering nor attractive on my nails. The finish doesn't have gloss and it looks sort of dull. Not pretty. I am a fan of OPI polishes, but Italian Love Affair was a little disappointment.

I don't get all the hate for this product...I bought it today then read some reviews here and thought "Oh no..." but then I tried it and it didn't seem streaky at all to me, in fact it's a beautiful color and I love the name Italian Love Affair!

love the name and the color! i would describe it as bubblegum pink with a dash of frost so that the finish is halfway between a metallic and a matte. im still undecided on how it looks on my olive tanned skintoned...the formula isn't opi's best, after two coats, theres still uneven coverage, HOWEVER, i've tried worst from opi (giant gargauntuan green grap), and nobody can really tell at a distance your nailpolish is not perfectly even. i dont like to use more than 2 coats bc it starts to chip when you really slap it on..but still...very unique color

I have just polished my nails with this colour and I must say I am quite disappointed. The application wasn't the best at all, but I am no expert :) But I can't stand the colour. It's fair, bright frosty pink and my nails look like Barbie's. Nothing for me, even if I like pink/neutral/subtle colours.
