I bought this mascara on a whim- to try something new and I was very disappointed. The mascara is flakey and after a couple hours of wearing it, it becomes black flakes under my eye. Don't waste your money.

I love this mascara can make my lushes longer but it does not build up any volume which I need.This mascara does not make me end up being a panda which I like.I do have to agree with other reviewer that the fiber flasks fall onto your face and eyes.It is annoying to those who wear contact lens.I recommend this product to those who is looking for a extra length mascara.It does what it claims.The reason I will not repurchase this because I am still looking for alternatives in the drug store brand.

Since I’m a contacts lens wearer, I probably should have never bought this in the first place… an expensive mistake:( Those fibers were hazardous when they fell into my eyes and just plain ugly when they fell onto my face!! And they didn’t even look that good when they were on my actual lashes. The formula is on the dry side but also a bit clumpy. At least it doesn’t smudge. Anyways, I’d never repurchase this or any other mascara with those damned fibers. Definitely stay far away from this if you wear contacts… or even if you don’t, because this mascara is pretty all-around awful.

I have this mascara in L3 (deep blue) and I really do like it. It takes me a lot longer to apply this in the morning, compared to other mascaras, just because the fibres are a bit fiddly and sometimes they don't stick to my real lashes. I've found the best way to apply this is to poke at my lashes with the brush covered in bristles until a whole lot of fibres stick to my lashes, then quickly apply the mascara 'normally.' This gets rid of most of the fibres that flake off through the day.

This mascara gives me great curl, gorgeous colour and lovely length when done properly. Unfortunately, doing it properly takes ages, so 1 lippy off.

I love how long and beautiful this mascara makes my eyelashes look, but within 20 minutes the fibers flake into my eyes and work themselves under my contacts to give me the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. Sadly, I will never purchase this again.

I tired this b/c I'm looking for a good waterproof and my friend uses Shu Fiber Xtension and says she never has a problem with the fibers. Extra Length really does make my lashes really long and curled (most waterproofs do), but the fibers flake off to the extent where I can not even stand to try this again (I gave it 2 tries). I just threw mine away.

this definitely makes my lashes super long. a SA who was applying my makeup commented on my amazing lashes, i told her it was my mascara. doesn't clump your lashes either. I would love this if it didn't irriate my eyes (the fiber bits flake into my eye), and also if it wasn't so darn hard to remove. Oh well, still a great mascara.

Real let down. I have been using Loreal Double Extend for years and it has always given me long full looking almost false looking eyelashes.

I decided I wanted even more and went to Sephora to searched out one of the more luxury brands. I was practically forced to buy this Shiseido Extra Length Mascara and the sales girl just raved and raved about how unbelievably long the fibers in the Mascara make her lashes.

I tried it as soon as I got home, and

a) The wand is super dry, maybe because of the fibres, but not wet enough at all to even apply a coat of mascara.

b) Despite the dryness, as soon as I went to apply the mascara it went right through my lashes and smudged onto my upper lid. Possibly because I had to try extra hard to get anything off the wand onto my lashes.

c) When I finally got stuff on my lashes, it was messy and clumpy and the fibres just hung off my lashes in weird directions.

d)no lengthening, no thickening, just a big mess.

This mascara is okay. It's not the greatest lengthening mascara. The reason why I keep using it is because I really like the brush. It's small, easy to use, doesn't waste to much of the fibers because the bristles aren't too deep. I was really disappointed because Shisheido's Mascara Base is the absolute best. I had high expectations for this one. It ends up flaking off and irritating my eyes. Somehow the fibers just don't grasp onto each other the way Imju Fiberwig does. Sorry Shisheido. Won't be repurchasing this one.

Actually, I'm not sure if I would buy this mascara again or not, because although it can lengthen my eyelashes, but it tends to clump a lot, and causes my eyelashes, which I just curled, to droop a little. Then I have to curl them again, and it goes all wrong. But sometimes, it works out just fine. So I would just give it a OK.

This was the first mascara that I used over a long period of time - that's how long it took me to wise up : )
I was attracted to the beautifully natural brown shade (the reason for the 2/5 rating) and the bit of length it gave me without looking trashy - unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.
The very high fiber content in this mascara meant it really irritated my eyes if i tried to get the wand near the roots of my eyelashes (for a 'lifted' look) also, it flaked like crazy by midday!
The wand is mediocre, and the formula doesn't dry out quickly - i've had mine for about four months and its as usable as it first was. Clumps aren't rare but are minor and can be eventually combed out.
Sure, this mascara does give a soft natural look, and the colour is hard to beat, but you can get a mascara with superior staying power and lengthening for $6 - so why spend your money on this?

yay! So far I love this mascara, lots of length and it doesn't smudge and end up making racoon eyes which is all I could ever ask for.
Keeps curl pretty well too. When i first opened it it was very scary looking to me, lots of fibers it looked messy but it went on nicely and didn't clump. I wonder if all shiseido mascaras don't smudge or if its just because its a fiber mascara....

this is a great mascara. possibly the best i've tried yet. it lengthens, defines, and separates. with careful application, it doesn't clump, and it really is waterproof. no smudges at all! even after walking in the rain! my lashes are long enough, and wearing this (even without the mascara base) sort of gives me the false lashes look. this mascara holds a curl pretty decently. above all else, i love how it doesn't make my freshly curled eyelashes droop back to stick-straight right after i apply it.

It does make my eye lashes look longer but it doesn't really give me any volume. Well I guess the mascara was just supposed to give lenght, seeing its name. Its pretty good but I dont think its worth the price and I find that the brush doesnt pick up alot of product.

I WAS AMAZED. The consistency is really weird at first (since you see the fibers) but on it looks great. I can understand how it may clump easy, but I had no issues with it. Also, it didn't come off anywhere ANY time of the day, which is saying something because I quite possibly have the greasiest face ever.

This is amazing with Shiseido's mascara base! Makes my lashes extremely long, but it does take a while to catch on to using the fiber things in the mascara. Does not smudge... great product! EDIT: great product but only lasts about 1.5 months and then it starts to flake alot.

This is the most unusual mascara I have ever used. I bought it because I absolutely adore Shiseido's Mascara Base. (Hello HG!) Anyway, this mascara has these very distinct fibers in it that I've never seen before in a mascara. It does lengthen (via the fibers) and provide a nice lush look. I would buy again although I think I'll try it in black next time. I bought this in brown because I usually never buy black mascaras, but I'd have to say the brown is a little too light. The brown does provide a nice natural daytime look though.

I have mixed feelings about this mascara. On one hand it's one of the most long wearing mascara's I've ever tried, never smudges or runs..truly waterproof. On the other hand if not applied with perfect precision it clumps quite badly. For reference I have short ordinary lashes. Kind of weighs my lashes down which is not what you want in a mascara. Also, the fibers in this are really weird like little pieces of something that don't seem to do very much except fall off the brush and into my eye. I am however not giving up on Shiseido's mascara. I am going to exchange this for the Lasting Lift formula to see if that works better because the staying power of this really is amazing.

Ever since I started wearing makeup at age 14, I have never ever been able to wear any mascara cause it would ALWAYS leave me w/ the racoon eye look. I have tried every name brand mascara you can imagine even the expensive brands, and I had given up. I gave up wearing mascara for years cause I thought it better to go bare lash than to have dark circles under my eyes, and yes, I tried every makeup trick in the book (in applying macara) and nothing worked. I had heard good stuff about Shiseido's mascara for years but I never wanted to buy it cause I figured it would be a waste of money, as I was convinced that my lashes were the type that could not wear mascara. Well, yesterday I decided that I would buy my first Shiseido product, and I got this mascara. Ladies, this is the first mascara EVER in my life that did not give me racoon eyes!! It never flakes or comes off in any fashion, it is the end-all-be-all of all mascaras and I've tried them all. It has a unique texture that goes on like ink that dries instantly, and boy does it give the lashes volume! I literally looked like I was wearing false eyelashes cause they looked so thick, and as a person w/ naturally sparse lashes that's saying a lot. I wore this mascara all day, and I've gotten compliments already on how good my eyes look. I really am stunned cause I never thought this would ever happen. If you are thinking of buying this mascara than I would advise you to run, not walk to your nearest Shiseido counter, you will be amazed.
