I finally brought this foundation as a birthday treat as I just could not justify the huge price tag. This stuff is amazing it melts into your skin and just looks beautiful, good coverage but looks like skin. I was wearing estee lauder double wear prior to this and it was just destroying my skin, drying it out to the point where after a couple of hours i had aged by up to 10 years which is not good !. It does not compare to double wear for its longevity but nothing does, I have found a couple of spays of urban decay chill setting spray sorts that out and I can easily get up to 12 hrs wear. I tried powder but its spoils the glow and radiance of the foundation. I think I may have found my holygrail my skin has never looked this good with or without makeup. The price tag is extortionate but a little goes a long way as it is highly pigmented plus you get the concealer in the cap which I love too as it covers my eye bags and doesn't look dry, caked or settle into my fine lines which many concealers do. I have tried and still own many half full bottles of foundations from many of the top brands and nothing compares to this I will defiantly repurchase and will be scraping the dregs out of the bottom of the bottle and not condemning it to my fails drawer.

When you pay so much money for a product, it'd better be perfect or it's not worth the splurge. Well, that's exactly my point. It's a good hydrating foundation, full coverage, nice consistency but, in all honesty... I wasn't blown away by it. The concealer on the top is quite good and long lasting and it is very conveniently placed with a good little flat brush that does a good job. Other than that, I don't think I'll be repurchasing. I actually think that it's a bit too thick and it's going to emphasize lines and I' not too keen on that. Next please!!

Wow! Yes, it's obscenely expensive, but then again how much is it worth to have an amazingly flawless, glowing complexion?
This foundation delivers not only perfection, but natural looking perfection. My skin is good to begin with but at my age (55) even good skin needs a little foundation to look amazing. I like how it offers great coverage and still manages to look perfectly natural.
I'm generally a penny pincher, but this is my big splurge, and worth every penny.

Based on all the internet reviews, I decided to splurge on this foundation. I have never found a foundation I'm "in love" with, but I'm hoping this will be one I commit to. I'm tired of trying new formulas every few months. I have very fair skin, with freckles and some melasma. I also have very sensitive skin, on the combination side with a tendency toward breakouts when using oilier products. Given all my skin needs, finding any foundation is a challenge... especially as crows feet develop around my eyes. After purchasing this at Bloomingdales (Ivoire), I came home and washed my face clean. I then applied moisturizer and eye serum. I waited about ten minutes for those products to soak in and them applied (sparingly) the liquid foundation with my fingers, then blotted with the sponge provided. After the foundation was applied, I applied the creme concealer (around my eyes) with the provided brush, then blended with the same sponge I used for the foundation. A little of this stuff goes a LONG way. My initial reaction to the look was just ok, I wasn't blown away, however after about ten minutes it seemed to dry a bit and I LOVE the look. It looks like my natural skin but without all the hyper-pigmentation and redness. You can hardly notice I have on makeup in sunlight or in artificial light. I usually use power and blush, but I see no need for either now. I think for a nighttime look I will use blush, but I'm digging this natural look. This is only my first day using the La Prairie, so I will be sure to update after a month or so on how it's going, but I'm quite pleased right now. Oh, and NO sinking into fine lines or crows feet. Reminds me of my teenage- young twenties skin. I'm very curious so see how I look in photographs, I'll post that update as well.

Ok. Let me start by saying that I am sad to say that based on all of the reviews of this product I bought in and paid this way too high price. The makeup, to me, is not that good. It does give good coverage, but it makes my pores look larger and it is too cakey. I do not have good skin to start with: large pores, acne marks and acne prone skin. I have gotten much better, more natural and cheaper results with other brands. I guess if someone had perfect skin to start with, I could see this looking good on them, but for those who do not have perfect skin and want to look like you do this is not going to do it for you, so save your money honey.

Well, I am a totally obsessed finding the best foundation ever! I have tried so, so, so many foundations. And this I would say is my still number one! you actually need a one drop of it to cover all face using blending brush. It is simply phenomenal, and the coverage is perfect. Actually after this foundation first time I have hears someone was complimenting my skin as it looks poreless. Besides the concelear is also great to cover all dark areas and using it as highlighter. So WHY I put 4 and a half stars if it is so flawless? One ingredient I hate! Petrolatum! It is like hello, I pay 200 euros for petrolatum? but still I guess it somehow makes this great combo of flawless and coverage. I am do highly recommending it. I would say its pretty creamy one so expect your face shine a little, but this is just perfect healthy glow. It kind of has a mask effect so please use only one small drop on it and choose yellowish tone, it will always brighten up your skin. My favourite tones are Golden Beige//Sand Beige. and you can feel this nourishing effect on your skin. So far I have not find better one. As it is SOOO expensive I am planning to start using Make Up Forever HD foundation...however again, HD is just so full of bad chemicals...so I guess, La Prairie so fas has no alternatives. I have heard good references about Cle De Peau, so if someone has tries, please write a review too! I am still on a search of the best foundation. However this is guess will always remain in TOP 3 for sure! But please TAKE a sample of this foundation before you buy it, it is very expensive...and even lots of people love it, it doesnt work on all skin types!! It doesnt matter if your skin is dry or oily, its like or hate is based on your individual preferences! The another minus to this foundation it is air exposed. you actually have to open it and use a stick to get it out of the tube. Would be much better if it could have a pump! But still, I would suggest this foundation!

Hello ladies,
I am a huge La Prairie Skin Caviar Fdt and yes, I would buy this again. =) What I like is that it stays on a lot of time and even after a few hours, you look like you've just made up your face. Secondly, the ingredients are a huge hit too! Just imagine that the caviar is actually working while you're wearing makeup, which is great because it has some very good anti-aging properties which are welcomed at any age.
This foundation doesn't break me out (and I am very prone to this) or make me look oily. I use to set this with Chantecaille Loose Powder; the combination is good - they work well together, but I'm really looking forward to buying La Prairie's loose Powder too. A LP SA told me that it's better (when it comes to cellular and caviar treatments) when the products are from the same line, because they actually work together.
The consistency of the fdt is quite thick, so a little will definitely go a long way. You just need to put a very small amount on your face; avoid putting to much, otherwise you'll look like you're wearing a funny mask! I have it since April 2012 and more than 3/4 is left. I also appreciate the packaging, the little sponge it comes with it, the metallic support that also has a mirror in it and the small brush for the concealer. The foundation is expensive (mine cost 150 euros and was bought from Amsterdam's duty free) but well worth the money; your skin really deserves the best so it's worth paying for something it's that good.
Enough speaking! =) Overall, La Prairie products are awesome if you can afford them.

I am 29 yo, have sensitive combination skin with breakouts during that time of the month.
I have been using this foundation for 6 years now, due to the price I tried looking for a substitute for the past month (Givenchy photoperfection, YSL toucle eclat foundation, YSL radiant touch, la mer tratment fluid, several Lancome foundations and clinique foundations) and I have to conclude that LP skin caviar is the perfect match for me; it doesn't break me out, looks like my own skin but 10x better, it just glides on, a little goes a long way!
I apply 5 tiny dots over my face and blend with my fingers. The warmth of my fingers makes it blend naturally and look like I am not wearing any makeup. Don't use more at a time, if you need more cover, just apply another layer where necessay. The concealer is a bit on the heavy side but try patting a little around your eyes, I do however use YSL touche eclat under my eyes.
A bottle lasts me 1 year or 1.5 years while another foundation would last me 6 months maximum.
Creme blush is a perfect rose-tinted fair/medium color that matches my face perfectly. I don't believe in making foundation shades work, a perfect match is everything, I'm lucky I found it in LP (and there are heaps of shades available!)
I just ordered my 6th bottle and going on year 7!

This product is totally *amazing*! I have gone through two bottles in four years--yes, it lasts that long so the price is not quite as daunting as it seems since you can get two years out of one bottle.
It really doesn't take much at all--just melts right into your skin leaving a flawless healthy finish--not matte, not shiny, just glowy--but does not settle into lines or pores. It gives me the flawless complexion I wish I'd been born with! It truly takes *years* off your face--plus, a number of people think I am not wearing any makeup but just have "great skin". Doesn't get any better than that! It has really improved my skin, which is super-sensitive to everything.
I think it would be great for normal, dry or perhaps combo skin but maybe not oily. I wear no powder with it in the winter but do use a little in the summer when the weather is really hot. This product seems to merge with the skin right away and lasts all day.
I am not wild about the concealer in the cap, although it is ok in a pinch if one forgot one's go-to concealer, which for me is Cle de Peau. I have tried two other high-end brands lately but I prefer the Cle de Peau. But a minor thing in an otherwise perfect foundation...can't live without it!!

I love this foundation, have been using it for
several years. I'm 80 yrs old, with good skin,
but sensitive/fair. It's smooth and satiny
quality is just great and although costly , lasts
long if used with care. I'm always complimented
on my skin, and I've never had any "work"
done. Just good genes I guess.

I'm so disappointed by this makeup! From afar, my skin looks radiant, with a nice medium coverage, but up close, it shows that I'm wearing makeup (not natural-looking). Plus, something in it makes my skin itch, which is making me break out. Same thing for the concealer: the colour (porcelain blush) is a great match, but it looks chalky. I much prefer amazing cosmetics’ concealer which just melts into my skin. What a waste of money this was! :(

This item is an investment... The color golden beige matches my skin perfectly ..(mac nc42 mufe hd 153 nars syracuse ). The finish is medium to full and buildable. Very natural finish in natural light and artificial light. Out of all my foundations I have tried I really like this one.

A friend who works at a cosmetics counter gave me the full-sized counter sampler. I always thought $180 for a foundation was just ridiculously overpriced and gimmicky. I normally use Lancome's Teint Miracle foundation and thought it was great. This is a lot nicer than TM as far as the foundation part goes. It really makes my face look silky soft, doesn't settle in pores or fine lines. It just looks like I have super even, smooth skin. I've gotten compliments on my complexion multiple times by strangers since using this. With TM, it can stick to dry patches and without careful blending, sometimes it can be seen that I'm wearing foundation. I still think TM is a good foundation but La Prairie's really is that much nicer.
The reason I didn't give it a 5?
1. I don't like the concealer in the cap - at all. I love my La Prairie brightening pen but this concealer doesn't even match the foundation and is extremely cakey. I can't use it to conceal my dark undereye circles (total reverse raccoon) or cover blemishes.
2. I prefer the pump dispenser like in Lancome's Teint Miracle. It seems that contamination can be an issue with this foundation.
3. Although I usually like the way LP skin care lines smell, I don't really like the way this foundation smells. However, I can only smell it right when I'm dabbing it on. Afterwards, I don't notice it.
So, what to do when I run out (which will take awhile as I only need a small amount each use)? I actually love this enough to spend the $$$. This is a big deal for me considering I normally find spending more than $40 on makeup a waste. I'd rather spend it on skin care.

I have been using La Prairie Skin Caviar Foundation since my early 30s and it is truly the best foundation I have ever used. I have often been told how nice my skin looks when wearing this and it does give a lovely soft but natural finish - not at all cakey. In the last couple of years I have looked around for something a little cheaper and I thought (wrongly) that with new formulations on the market these days I was bound to find something to equal it at a fraction of the price. Anything that was for dry skin made my t-zone oily and oil-free foundations cling to my very dry cheeks. I also felt (wrongly again) that as I was now in my early 40s I needed to find a foundation with a little luminosity rather than the velvety finish of Skin Caviar but having tried a couple of foundations with so called luminosity I found they really didn't do much for my complexion at all, in fact my skin looked a little flat. I'm sure that I have easily wasted the price of a new bottle of La Prairie on other brands that I ended up giving away barely used. Some of my friends think that €150 is ridiculous for a foundation but a bottle does last a really really long time - a small amount goes a long way and you are also saving on not having to buy a separate concealer. Definitely a HG product for me.

Love this product! I have an olive skin with yellow undertone (Mac NC40). I have tried samples in the colors soleil peche and golden beige. Golden beige matches best with my skin tone but gives an grey look. I like the soleil pech better because of the red undertone. It lightens up my skin tone. Unfortunately it doesn't matches entirely with my hands. The liquid stays all day. Be careful with your daycare. A thick daycare will probably make the liquid greasy when you have combo skin like mine.
It's an expensive product but worth it. I must say that the Mac foundations also do a fine job but this foundation gives something extra to my skin.

Ummm.. Where to begin? I literally feel as though this cannot be classified as a foundation. It's in a league of it's own! It is, without a doubt, the most amazing product of ANY kind that I have ever used.
I tried this in the shop, and was just so disgusted with the customer service that I refused to get it. The SA was terrible at applying, and was very rude to me (I assume because I am younger and she thought there was no way I was going to buy it). Honestly, the worst customer service I've ever received. I looked in the mirror and.... WOW... nothing... :-| seriously, I thought it was pathetic.. I thought it was a below mediocre foundation, it didn't even stay on until I got home, and it made my small pores look huge!
My boyfriend's mother uses this and always raves (but she's a very different skin tone to me so I couldn't just try hers) so I thought I'd give it another go - she's never been wrong about my makeup/ skincare before and is my go-to for advice. She works for Sisley but has worked for Chanel & Clarins in the past as well, so she's just fantastic when it comes to high end skincare! Anyway, she went to her SA (she also lives in a different area to me, and therefore has a different SA) and got me a sample in two colors (I am in Creme Blush btw). I did love the foundation, but honestly wasn't blown away. It is so expensive ($280 in Australia) but for some bizarre reason when I was feeling like a splurge, despite my subpar experience, I bought it! That was the best decision I have made for my skin in a LONG time!
As I said before, this shouldn't be classified as a foundation. When I describe it to people, I say it's a "skin perfector" used INSTEAD of a foundation! Haha! It honestly makes your skin look PERFECT! I have the most bizarre skin (acne, redness, oily chin and cheeks, but super dry nose and eyelids with random patches of eczema all over the place) and it just makes everything look flawless!
So, I use CHANEL Le Blanc De Chanel base underneath, and it easily lasts all day. It is totally buildable for a light to full coverage (I really mean that - it can give totally sheer or quite full coverage), it gives a slightly dewy finish (not as much as something like Vitalumiere, more similar to Giorgio Armani, but really in a league of it's own), it's SO blendable and easy to work with and stays in the fatty-phase for long enough to finish your entire makeup (meaning your blush, bronzer etc will really blend and put everything together nicely) but then sets to this luminous, perfect... there is no word.. It's like someone has taken off my skin and replaced it with Liv Tylers (p.s. *drool*)!
But wait... there's more... this is actually GOOD for your skin! La Prairie Quote: "You will notice an immediate improvement in the condition and appearance of your skin." IT'S TRUE!! Oh goodness, how true it is! Now, admittedly this did nothing for my eczema or acne, not that I was expecting it to, but it just made my overall complexion more even, brighter, and more glowy. When I was taking it off for the first time it took me ages because I was convinced there was still some on because my normally dull skin was luminous, but really it just made my skin glow naturally! I swear, I am not exaggerating at all! It really made my skin GLOW! Oh, and by the way, I don't have to use a powder with this! It's the most bizarre thing! I ALWAYS use a powder, but I find it just takes away from the perfection this foundation gives you! The finish is perfect, so you don't need powder to mattify, and you certainly don't need to powder it to set or to make it last! I really want to powder it, because I love powdering my face, but it's painful to cover up that beautiful foundation! Sometimes, if I want a really matte finish, I'll pop a little bit of Chanel Poudre Cristalline, but that's very rare and only for a very specific look.
...... I haven't even started on the concealer. Honestly, if it was JUST the concealer alone, even at that price point, I would buy it. BEST concealer I have ever used! Totally natural, great coverage, perfect color (exact match to the foundation), great for under eyes AND blemishes, and I've started using it as a lip & eye primer and it just gives ridiculous staying power. It's remarkable in that you can put it over the oiliest, reddest, bulgiest pimple and it will cover it perfectly ALL day! I suppose I can't comment on whether or not it settles into fine lines under the eye, because I don't really have any as of yet (my under eye problem is puffiness and dark circles) but it doesn't settle into the tiny creases on my eyelids or lips, so I would assume it doesn't settle into fine lines?
Okay, so it's kind of expensive.... well..... REALLY expensive.. But my vitalumiere lasts about 2 months, whereas this has lasted me about 3 months and I've still got well over 50% left and I use it every day! So if you do the math, it equates to about the same price as a Chanel foundation. I'm worried the concealer will run out before the foundation because I use it so much, but I can't tell how deep it goes. If it does, I will honestly have to purchase a new one straight away. I don't think I could live without that concealer now! I'll have to update you on that, because I have no idea how much is left!
This is a product that I will repurchase and repurchase and repurchase and if it ever gets discontinued I will buy it out because I literally don't know what I would do without it! I think maybe "caviar" is really a code word for crack? Haha!
If you have the money, if you don't mind splurging on a good foundation, then I don't recommend you get this - I DEMAND you get it! It's a miracle!
P.S. Packaging is a dream! Ultra luxe!
P.S.S. Stop what you're doing. Just stop. That's it..... now go buy this...... you won't regret it!

I have mixed feelings about this foundation. Pros: Nice glow, Good coverage the first 3-4 hours, skin feels soft , supple and pretty
Cons: All of the good things about this foundation only last about 3-4 hours. No staying power. As the day goes on it kind of glides off the skin leaving the skin with really no coverage. Even if i use good amounts of powder over it it just comes right off. And the color range of this foundation is not the best for people with yellow/olive undertones. I have the color sand beige and its too pink/beige for my skin. Leaves my skin with a grayish cast. Honey beige might have been a little better but not sure.
A good foundation if you only need it to last for a couple of hours. But for the price it should have had a much better staying power. Will not buy again.
