This was the lotion I used to use everyday (I use the Daily Moisturizing one now in the green bottle, because I don't think they make this anymore?). I originally bought it bc it claimed that you wouldn't have to shave as often. That was definitely not true...the lotion had no affect on my shaving whatsoever, but it is a great moisturizer. It's not too watery or thick, absorbs well and keeps me moisturized all day. The Positively Smooth shaving cream is really good, too...and I know that one is still in production.

i bought this product because it claimed to smooth your legs and that you would shave less. i bought this and used it one day after getting out of the shower. the next day, i was covered in small bumps...in every single spot where i applied this lotion. i threw it away. ever since then, i dont purchase any aveeno products.

This makes my legs feel soooo smooth! Usually I have to deal with ingrown hairs and bumps and they won't go away unless i shave everyday for a couple of weeks. I started using this while it was still a bit chilly out so I would shave once a week. My legs were smooth within a couple of days. Plus it is awesome for warmer whether. I'm not sure about it's ability to make my hair softer or make it so that I don't have to shave as often, but from what I've seen already, it's a winner in my book. I'll update later when it's warmer out.

So I should probably confess at the outset that I don't have really coarse thick body hair. I was sort of experimenting to see if this would actually decrease my arm hair. Since I'm Chinese, I don't exactly have a TON of arm hair, but weirdly I have more hair on my arms than my legs.
So my experiment didn't quite pan out:
No change in my arm hair amount.
Still needed shaved my legs with the same frequency.
That being said, I think it moisturizes just fine. However, I would probably buy another lotion for moisturizing. You might see some changes if you have thicker hair than me. I guess it wasn't really a fair challenge in the first place...the only thing that would truly get rid of my arm hair by slathering post-shower is Nair.

I cannot agree that this is a HG product, but I would say that it does make hair much softer after repeated use. However, it is enriched with so many chemicals that it always gives me a rash after the initial use and goes away thereafter. Perhaps, my skin needs to get used to its harshness or something.I think I will stop buying it after my last bottle is finished. I would def recommend this for those who desire little baby hair instead of coarse leg fuzz.

Excellent product from Aveeno. I have used this body lotion on my legs for over a year now and wouldn't change it for anything. It definitely makes the hair growth a little softer and finer and I quite frequently skip a day of shaving without any noticable stubble. The scent is a bit unusual - like crushed aspirin perhaps? That is just a minor quibble; this is an effective product.

I'm shocked that this actually works! Let me tell my story. Earlier this year I used a Veet lotion hair remover on my navel area to get rid of the little baby hairs before a vacation. I was horrified when the hair grew back thicker and darker. I didn't want to do any type of hair removal and risk making it worse, I just wanted the soft baby hairs back. I looked everywhere for a hair minimizing lotion, but couldn't really find any besides this one and one by Yves Rocher which was more expensive (even with the ubiquitous 50% discounts). So I went for the Aveeno. I was reluctant at first because I don't really like the scent, and I really love my usual Nivea lotion, but I decided to give it a try on my legs as well just to see what happens. I've used it pretty regularly for over a month, and it has made a huge difference on my legs. I shave less often, and the hair doesn't come back as hard and stubbly, it's much softer and less noticeable. I sort of see it working on my navel, but I don't want to shave or wax this area, so maybe that's why I don't see a big difference, because the same old hairs are still there. Regardless, I'm very pleased that this actually works, too bad about the scent (hence only 4/5 lippies). I can still find it without any problems around here, but will stock up if it really is d/c.

I love this lotion and have noticed a difference in hair over time. It's a bit finer and lighter, although I don't know how much I can attribute to my epilator. Unfortunately, I can't find it at any of the local stores anymore and fear they may have discontinued it.

I've been using this product on and off since it first came out and I'm pretty pleased with it. Although it doesn't seem to slow down hair growth, the hair does appear to grow in finer and smoother.
I actually like the smell too, and since it's so cheap, I feel okay about using gobs of it at a time.

I love this lotion. Could stand for it to be a tad more moisturizing but it's still great. I've used many other lotions that claim to make hair grow back slpwer/finer/etc with no success but the Aveeno really works. I have rather dark leg hair that grows back superfast (stubble by the end of the day kind of fast) and I can get a few days out of a shave with this stuff. Definitely a plus for my sensitive skin and helps my expensive razors last longer.

(As of 2008 in Wisconsin, I can't find this anywhere. Does my luck just fail?)
I used this all through high school--it really made a difference in my hair's length, softness, darkness, and how even my skin tone was. I used it on my legs and bikini area (scandalous!) and never had any problems with irritation, greasiness, or anything.
The smell wasn't great, but I liked it a fair bit.
I always wondered if rubbing tofu all over would have comparable results, however, I never had the guts to try it.
If you shave a lot and appreciate smoothness, I'd definitely try this--made my hair lighter, shorter, and kept me smoother longer.

i saw only a small improvement form this product, my hair didnt become very thin but it did become less noticeable. it has a nice smell to it and the pump is easy to use but its not very wonderfull plus its not great for someone who is looking for a moisturizer for dry skin.

I usually don't care to leave reviews on products unless I feel it's really worth it. When I first bought this lotion, I felt it working after its first use after shaving my legs. By the end of the next day when the usual annoying, tiny stubble starts to come back, I felt a dramatic difference. If you're a daily shaver, I wouldn't say that this prevents you from shaving for several days in a row, but I would definitely say you could go a day or 2 at the most without feeling a lot of nasty stubble. And when it does start to grow back, I noticed it is a little softer. The only other "hair minimizing" lotion I have tried in the past was the one by St. Ives, and I didn't like that product or notice a difference. But as I already mentioned, I noticed a difference after the first use with Aveeno's. I have already bought this product a second time and will definitely repurchase. The scent is nice, not too overpowering. The only small downer is that it's a little more expensive than your average lotion, but then again, it is Aveeno. Great buy!

I haven't noticed much of an improvement in terms of minimizing hair where I apply this lotion. But, it is moisturizing with a nice smell.

I used to use this for my legs but was not diligent enough to see results.
So it sat in my bathroom drawer for weeks.
After coming home from dry Los Angeles climate, my face was a mess. Patches of flakes that even straight oil couldn't cure.
Guess what? This did the trick! I was surprised and very glad. Anyone having bad flaky days, give this a try. Unless you have combo skin and have broke out by this before, don't :D
The pilling doesn't bother me that much, I don't touch my face... :P

This is one of my favorite lotions, as it does not feel greasy, and makes my skin feel exceptionally soft. The only qualm I have is that I did have a tube that seems to have gone bad on me after being in the cabinet for too long, as it was making funny crackly noises after I squeezed it. I threw it out, but couldn't find this lotion again at Target, so I went for a different one.

I never found out if this lotion actually worked, as far as minimizing or softening body hair, I really didn't use it consistently or long enough to find out. To me it had a strange unpleasant smell, kind of burned when I put it on my legs, and irritated the skin. It's possible my skin is too sensitive for it, but I really didn't like it, and didn't think it was worth it just to soften my leg hair - I'd love to not have to shave so often, but this just didn't do it for me. The Daily Moisturizing lotion by Aveeno is a staple for me though.

Well, this does exactly what it's advertised to do. I used it one summer and I really did notice that I needed to shave A LOT LESS, which was great! But was it great enough that I bought it again? No.
For me, applying this lotion daily got to be more of a chore than shaving, so I didn't buy it again. I have really fine, blond hair, so shaving isn't a daily thing for me anyway.
Pros:
- it works!
- smells ok
Cons:
- have to use it often
- didn't like the texture: I got that "balling up" effect sometimes too, which was really annoying! I think it was because of sweating, not because of something other product I had on

I found this product worked as advertised. As for the posts complaining about the product rolling up in little balls, please read the ingredients for any product that does this. You will most likely find that it contains dimethicone. It's a type of silicone polymer that's used in skin care products for its superior spreadability, excellent emolliency and water repellency. It forms a protective coating on your skin. If you use an oil-based moisturizer on your skin before applying a product containing dimethicone, it will not be absorbed and will roll up into little balls that slide off your skin. Non-silicone products often do not mix with those containing silicone. Example: If you shower with a product from the Dove line or anything containing moisturizing cream or oil and then apply the Aveeno, you will likely encounter problems with absorption.

This shave minimizing lotion and the Jergens are about equal for me: They each have a nice light scent, no irritation, effective shave minimizers, and they travel well (the pump top locks in the up position by rotating). The Aveeno has the upper hand by being easier to find. For that, I'll probably repurchase, since I use this after every shower on my legs.
