Love this powder!! I came across this powder when I was being cheap and didn't want to spend a lot of money on something I had never tried. I have now been using this powder for a couple of years and I still love it. It gives me a matte finish and lasts most of the day. I get a lot of compliments on how smooth my face looks and have even been told that it looks like I had my makeup airbrushed on.

It's decent, but I find that it can look cakey, especially if you put a lot on. Packaging isn't too great, it can be kind of messy which I understand will happen because it's a loose powder, after all. It isn't that great but will suffice because of its great price

This product is okay, it gives a really good look for a couple of hours but you definitley need to touch up, which is annoying. Its not a good normal powder but it looks okay over foundation, full coverage. I would not re - purchase but its okay for 3 dollars

The price is great, yes. I bought it to just try it and will probably never buy it again. It gave me acne and the coverage isn't all that great.

This powder sets the makeup nicely, but if you are looking for any type of coverage this is not my first choice, it keeps shine at bay, but cannot be used for coverage alone. The package is not my favorite, quite messy. But for an inexpensive setting powder it may suffice.

I bought this poweder after running out of MAC Blot Powder. I was on the lookout for something to set my foundation with and I stumbled across this while at Walmart and decided to try it. I didn't have a very high expectation for this product as it was $3 but Oh my gosh this product it amazing! It gave my skin a very beautiful sort of finish and gave my skin a healthy glow! This works better than my MAC Blot powder for a fraction of the price!

A couple of months later:
Although this powder is pretty good, it just didn't match my skin tone and made my face darker then my neck even though my foundation matched perfectly. After a couple of hours, my skin became super oily and the powder doesn't make my makeup last very long. Every time i touch my face my makeup would just slide off. Overall its decent if you don't have combination/oily skin and just need something to set your foundation.

I bought this because I was looking for the Traslucent powder but could only find this. I'm really glad I did. It works great for setting my foundation and goes on very nicely. I do not use the little sponge pouf applicator that comes with it. I use a big powder brush to apply it. The price was right to being $2.88 at my local Walmart. Will definitely be buying this again.

This is such great stuff for the price. It leaves my skin looking very smooth, and not powdery unless you way overdo it. I have the translucent and Naturally Beige. It's only $3 each! You get so much product too! This isn't my HG loose powder but if it was, I would not be unning out anytime soon!

Little def goes a long way with this product. I use what's on the lid Wanted to get the translucent color, but I felt a bit sketch because that color looked toooooooo white, so I decided to go with this one.

I apply this after I'm done applying my Revlon colorstay foundation and benefit's boi-ing concealer with a essence of beauty powder brush. (I don't use the puff it comes with because it just cakes on the powder)

I friction hate the packaging. Wish it at least came with a screw top. It's pretty much a plastic jar with a black cap that you PULL OFF. Once you get the lid off, powder just explodes everywhere. Also when you close the lid, no matter how careful I am with closing it, powder still gets everywhere. I keep this in a ziplic bag in my makeup bag just incase. I plan on pouring into a smaller jar so I can bring it with me to the gym.

I love this stuff.
And it's so incredibly cheap, there's not really a reason to keep you from at least trying it. I got it for about $2.50 at WinCo. It comes with a tonne, too.
The only complaint I have is that the packaging absolutely sucks. I mean, really? The cap comes right off. Don't even think about putting it in your make up bag, unless you want it everywhere. It's insanely messy. This is strictly a stay-at-home product.

I picked this up on a whim at Rite-Aid for $2.99 because I needed a powder that would do a better job at keeping me less oily during the day and at under $3, how could I pass it up? This stuff is amaze! After applying my liquid foundation, I dust this all over with fluffy brush and it really does instantly mattify my look. Usually I apply my makeup at around 7 AM and by 8 AM I am SUPER oily. I also have to blot at least 6 times a day and since using this, blotting has been cut down to only 3 times. A vast improvement in my eyes. There is a lot in this container and a little goes a long way, but when the time comes to repurchase I most definitely will. My only complaint with this is that the container lid does not screw on or off, it just kind of slides on and off which = a huge mess if you were to drop it or if you were to want to carry this in your makeup bag.

It's a great powder for setting makeup or controlling oil but if you're looking for coverage, look away because this provides none.

It was dirt cheap ($2.74!!) and the product itself is very good at doing what it's supposed to do but the packaging is definitely NYC's weak spot. Not only does it look like crap (not a big deal) but it functions likewise (pretty big deal).

The puff is pretty meh and is standard free-applicator quality. The cap is attached rather strangely and it's something that you just.. pull off. Sometimes you have to pull pretty hard, which causes an explosion as soon as you open it because the sifter is crap. The sifter does absolutely nothing and I was so fed up with that and I was about to toss it until I realized I could easily cover up most of the holes (all but 4) with tape. I used medical grade tape (Nexcare) but I'm sure masking tape would work too. You could also just take the sifter and puff out, tap the product into the cap and use that, but I was determined to make the sifter work. (:

Tip: If you're planning on buying this, do NOT completely remove the seal. Instead, poke out about a few holes. This'll save you a LOT of frustration.

I was in the market looking for a loose powder, since I left my MAC Select Sheer Loose Powder in a hotel room -- oops, the maid must have swapped it since was still brand new :( Anyways, I didn't wanna spend another $21.00 on a loose powder, so I stumbled across N.Y.C. cosmetics.....never used this brand before, but for $2, I thought, what the heck I have nothing to lose off of $2. Of course I didn't expect much from such a cheap product, but to my surprise, this actually works just as well as MAC. Set your foundation for a flawless look, not oily at all and last almost all day. I agree with many of the reviewers, this product is very messy. Oh, I wouldn't recommend using the spongy applicator it came with, I threw mines out and just use my powder brushes. Gals, it's worth the $2 for real!

My fav powder and it beats out Mac blot and Urban Decay's rice powder. It sets my liquid foundation so well, it makes my skin look airbrushed and pores disappear. It has silica in it so it makes my skin look smooth and flawless. I like the color of this as well, my foundation is a bit too light and the tan color of this powder gives some color to my face. If your pale this might make you look orange. This powder has some coverage as well, its definitely not translucent, covers some redness. My oil also stays away a bit longer with this on, but if I apply this powder more than 4 times a day it starts to look obvious and slightly cakey. The packaging is not portable, I just transfer some of the powder to another jar and its all good. Give this a try, I was suprised at the quality, thanks MUA for these reviews!!

I desperately wanted to love this product that I picked up for just $2.47! I typically buy HE products and thought this might be a cheap alternative to more expensive loose powders I have purchased in the past. After reading reviews on this site, I thought I had found my HG loose powder. Fat chance. Not only was this cakey (even when applied lightly), it actually made me oily, and I do not have an oily complexion.

I was highly disappointed, and will not purchase this again. Where are you, HG loose powder?

I really like this. I was looking for a quick replacement for my BE mineral veil. It gives really sheer cover on days when I don't want to go out with a bare face. Lasts a long time and keeps my oil at bay. Plus, it was dirt cheap - only $3..
EDIT 1/7/09: I noticed now with the winter weather, this powder is a bit drying for me. You get a lot of product and it'll last me a long time, but I won't repurchase.

I bought this because of the reviews on MakeupAlley, but I still wasn't expecting much since it was NYC. I was wrong, though. This powder makes my skin look so smooth and flawless. It controls shine very well too. I like it better than my more expensive powders! And you get a TON! 0.7oz/20g! I just wish the lid didn't come off so easily so I could keep it in my purse. But still, I will definitely buy again.

So I had been eyeing this loose powder on and off for about a year, but never bought it. I recently ran out of my discontinued HG loose powder . . . so I was desperately looking for a new HG. I bought this today thinking that it would be a little too light for my skin tone (but Rite Aid has a cool return policy so I could have returned it if it didn't work out for me) and I love it! It suites me perfectly and makes my skin soft and flawless. It's like it blurs my skin to make it even looking and ethereal. I cannot say enough about this product. It's cheap, controls shine very well, and comes in large quantities. This is my new HG and I will continue to purchase this for years to come!

This is nice for setting makeup and giving ksin a nice glowy look. It has a subtle glow that looks flawless when applied with a big kabuki brush. Upon purchasing (for a very low price), I dicarded the pink sponge and the sifter. To use it, I just shake the closed jar a few times, pat the lid, open the jar, and swirl my brush into the lid. I mostly apply this ot my tzone, as it controls shine marvelously, and is really translucent, perfect for summer weather. Overall, despite its low price and crappy packaging, I would repurchase, though that will not be an issue for quite some time, seeing as they provide a generous amount.
