Love this body scrub! Smells delicious, it's creamy, non sticky and the beads are neither too gentle nor too rough. Leaves the skin fresh, soft and fruity smelling!

I love the smell of this. No, it doesn't smell papaya-ish, but it has a lovely fragrance that borders on flowers and fruits, it's the body shop smell.
This is the only body scrub that I love from TBS. The exfoliants are rough enough to feel the texture. I particularly liked the black seeds?? and the smaller white rough grains in it. The formula is non-drying, so you can ensure smooth silky baby soft skin after using it.
However, I don't like the packaging. I use my fingers to get to the product and it might cause some water droplet pooling in the little tub. Maybe they should put it in a tube squeeze form, but you won't be able to finish it 100%, there'll be some left in the tube teasing you.
And, the availability of this especially is lousy! I've searched high and low for this. Some SA told me discontinued, some told me out of stock, some told me best-seller, in the same city! Come on! Get your facts right before confusing a customer. Luckily I saw it in an outlet one day and hauled a bunch of it home. I'm a happy gal~

I got this as a present from my mum. Good thing, cause I usually don't use body scrubs and never would have bought it.
But it is amazing. The scent is very natural (always a problem with those exotic fruit scented products it seems) and not too overpowering. I like the packaging, but it can be a bit inconvenient to use in the shower as water always drops in.
What I most like about the product is its' effect though. It does a good job scrubbing off dead skin cells and leaving the skin fresh and tight. I heard some people say it was too aggressive for them, but I like that it is rather strong.
If I can afford it, I will defenitely repurchase this product. It makes my shower feel a bit like a spa.

Bought it on sale for $10 a jar. I still think it's expensive, because i am used to the cheapy St. Ives apricot scrubs. Comparingly the scrubs are a bit more coarse. Aftrer I rinse it off skin feels really clean n' soft (not greasy at all). This is a feeling that canot be achieved while using apricot scrub. Scent is mild and I don't think it's noticeable after shower. Will re-purchase only when ut's on sale.

The main reason I don't think that I will purchase this particular scrub again is that I'm not quite sure I like the scent. I enjoyed the scent of the body lotion and body butter, but somehow it smells a bit stronger than what I would have liked.
This scrub is actually not a bad one. It is softer than what I normally prefer in a scrub, but I love the fact that as I start to rinse it off, my body instantly feels soft! Maybe I don't need a stronger scrub if it's going to make my body this soft! I was utterly amazed. I am definitely more interested in TBS body scrubs now and will look them up in different scents once I've run out of papaya!

I absolutely adore the smell of this. Its amazing! no way to describe it.
It seems to be quite gentle on other people juding by previous reviews but i have young skin, i'm in my early teens. Me and my mum bought this as a compromise between a sugar scrub and salt scrub.
It's almost strong enough to remove all fake tan (bearing in mind i don't wear that much). It exfoliates nicely and its not too drying for my sensitive skin. I love all body Shop products and generally think everything they have smells nice

I really like The Body Shop Papaya Scrub! I love how it has lots of scrubby bits in it without being rough. The smell is very nice, not overpowering. A little bit goes a long way with this scrub; I find I only need just a little scoop each time; this will definitely last me ages!
The packaging would be more convenient in a tube - as water could easily get into the tub in the shower (but I normally turn off the water while I'm scrubbing myself, so it's not that big a deal for me). After coming out of the shower, my skin feels so soft, smooth and moisturised. Follow up with their papaya body butter and you'll feel so smooth and smell great! I also love using this on my legs before shaving; I always get a closer, smoother shave!

I love the papaya scent so got the scrub to match the butter. It has slightly larger grains and therefore you get quite a strong rough scrub. I like it as it does not leave a greasy film. For its price, I would get it again. Although my best ever scrub is still St Ives Apricot scrub (which I also use for the body).

This is the first ever scrub I've tried - and boy did I pick a loser!
Smells great, and is not very greasy (not as much as my usual oil-and -sugar routing) washing off quite well with soap.
BUT it does not work as a scrub. No shiny, smooth skin at all - in fact, post the shower, I broke out into itchy bumps. I had to shower twice more and swallow allergy tablets to get rid of them. Totally frazzled at the end of it!
Also, a tub is not a very clever way to package a scrub - it does not work for people who like to use the scrub over wet skin while in the shower - you just end up pouring water into the tub.
Avoid if you have sensitive skin.

I tried the new cream-based scrub. while the scent is not a winning feature for me, it left me moisturized, soft, and clean, which any decent scrub should do. It's not highly special, but it's not bad either.

TRY THE NEW FORMULA! It is cream based now, so it isn't disgusting & greasy and so easily desolved like the old formula (I remember using that one for the first time and thinking it had gone bad and expired!). So give it another chance! The scent is heavenly, and it preps my skin well for shaving. Smooth, smooth, smooth. It is my HG scrub (along with The Body Shop's Cocoa Butter Scrub).

I got this despite reading the not too stellar reviews for the Papaya scrub, because at the shop this was the only one at that time with a scent that appealed to me. Have been using it for almost a month now, and have finally scrapped to the bottom of the tub. I really do like it I must say. Lovely scent, nice texture and consistency to the granules and after each use, my skin feels super-soft. There is also no nasty slimy residue, it all washes off easily. The only thing I would change about this product is the packaging. Wish it comes in a squeeze tube instead of a tub. Sometimes the water from my hand drips into it as I scoops the scrub up and a squeeze tube would be more convenient.
Will buy again, but I will also try out the other type of scrubs from Body Shop.

I really like this scrub it exofiliates well and smells great like the body butter. Unlike the shower gel this smells more like the body butter scent. The shower gell is a bit sweeter. I like how with this you can exfoliate as long as you want to and makes your skin feel good. I think the majority of the people are basing their review off the old body scrub which was pretty digusting. Try the new one its great. This is probably one of the only body shop products I would continue to buy.

Yes it's greasy in the shower. I was a bit put off by it due to the film it left on my skin. But, I shaved with the oil it left on my legs and Voila! I had the most smooth shave in my life. My legs were amazingly soft. I use this all over and then use the papaya body wash after. It takes of the excess oils but still leaves my skin soft and smooth upon exiting the shower. Don't dismiss this too quickly!

even if used correctly this is like bathing in chip fat. it is really greasy.
as soon as it mixes with water it is pure grease.
it is not a very strong body scrub it is just to oily.
the smell is ok.

I like the smell of it, but makes my skin greasy. I use this with papaya body butter, makes smell much more. But i usually use it alone because of its greasy feeling, no need for body butter. It's not a good scrub but i chosed it for the fragrance. I won't repurchase it, i will purchase different body scrub of the body shop

this has to be one of the worst products i have ever used. it felt so gross scooping it out of the container, i just wanted to toss the jar straight into the garbage. instead, i decided to slather myself from neck to toe... or at least try to. this stuff does not scrub, it rather just glops together. scrubbing action if any is from your hand trying to spread this glop of greasy goo on your skin.
i attempted to rinse myself clean for 5 minutes after this ordeal. i stepped out of the shower to dry myself and had some kind of white film left where the scrub had been. never have i had to take another shower after a shower. the product was only $1, i should have just tossed $1 bill into the trash instead

This product is soooo wrong! Papaya body scrub was the only one that smell 'ok' comparing to the other body scrubs from the body shop line. Texture is sandy with OIL. after first use I cannot wait to throw this rubbish away, it leaves me with that oily film all over my skin, and even after i tried to wash it off with the soap it still remain greasy. Yuck. im throwing this away. Too bad this review doesn't have minus lippy cause this product does not even deserve one lippy... it should be minus minus lippy!

I bought this because of my friend's recommendation. However, I don't like it at all when I first use it. It is greasy and very sticky. It does make your skin smooth after using it. However, I really can't stand its sticky and greasy.

I agree with the reviewer below, VERY greasy residue and very little. Not nice at all, except for the great scent.
