I understand the other reviews this product has recieved.
However with my personal experience it's a Can-NOT live with out product.
I have color 40 Apricot, I am a MAC NC-30/N2.
I have recently started using a BB Cream, which really helps with my acne-prone skin, but the color is less than appealing, and simply cannot be worn on it's own. I use the Voile Universal, to bring my color back to life.

I agree with Elvee, I do not like this product at all #30 Vanille is far too orange based. It has a runny consistency that does not look even on my skin even after exfoliating, moisturising and lots of blending. No coverage at all just tints the skin orange smells like sun block. Maybe nice on some people with perfect skin in the correct colour but not on me! Lancome Aqua Fusion Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 02 Sable is a much better product and colour for light/medium skin in my opinion and better value for money..

It is such a lovely light veil if your complexion is almost perfect and you don't have much to hide.

Lovely light foundation with SPF 15. Dream to apply - so easy and blends in flawlessly. For added coverage would use concealer too. Overall just great. Love the plastic bottle too, very convenient for carrying around. Have it in shade Pastel 20. Seems to adapt quite well whether my skin is tanned or paler.

Voile Universel gives the sheerest of coverage - evens out skintone, but leaves my skin looking the most natural it's ever looked. Doesn't make me oily, but also doesn't control oil, so if that's a consideration for you, you'll probably want to put loose powder over it or maybe look for another foundation.
Amande is a great match for me - LLL, NC20. Really makes my skin look great, and awesome for when you want to look like you're wearing little to no makeup.

I didn't really like this at all, quite disappointed as I had high hopes. Was expecting a fresh sheer glow from this, but I agree with the previous reviews in that it made my face look muddy and the colour was too orange. I purchased the lightest shade available in Australia which was Vanille, but it was just too dark and made my face look like a had fake tanner on, there was defnitely no nice glow. It costed AUD$69, but it'll probably sit on the dresser table and never be used again.
I'm still searching for that sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer that provides that no make up feel but still gives a natural polished look.

Voile Universel is the "skinny jeans" of the makeup world: I love wearing this beautifully sheer foundation when my skin is behaving and just needs a touch of polish. Amande is my color (for reference, I'm NC25 in MAC and in LM TM, I'm Nude) and it looks and feels so natural by diffusing any unevenness in my skintone. If you have a lot of active pimples or rosacea, do NOT expect this to work for you.
$40 at Chanel counters but I heard a rumor they're discontinuing it! :(

I thought this would give me a very natural, no makeup look. I was wrong!
First of all, this is very watery. Gives no coverage at all! Not even a tint of radiance! It's like... Nothing!
Secondly, the colour turns orangey on me! Makes me look like I tanned my face and left out my white neck!
Thirdly, the colour turned out darker from the one the SA tested on me at the counter!
It was just bad, all round. Luckily I complained about the colour and the Chanel SA I managed to change it to DPF. DPF is WAYYY better.

as how some people view it, this foundation overall is boring, it provides zero coverage, well it's watery so it glides on smoothly, but i don't see any reason to wear this since it doesn't do anything except for some sunscreen protection.

Really like the texture and sheer quality of this foundation, and it also evens out my skintone quite nicely. Very natural. However, it is a bit expensive, but well, it's Chanel. Will definitely repurchase it again.

EDIT 2/19/08: Lowered overall rating to 3 out of 5 (from 4) and would no longer buy again. Experiencing truly good formulations with good color matches in Becca and Stila has made me realize that I wouldn't even consider using this product again as it is too pink, too dark, and too sheer. Just not my cup of tea. See the original review below.
Bought this in Amande, a medium, defiantly pink shade. The Chanel Lady painted me up at the counter and I looked wonderful in her hand mirror, but the next day when I tried to apply it at home I ended up orange. (BAH!) Us warm-toned folks have no luck.
This foundation is incredibly sheer and moderately buildable if you let it dry completely between layers. It is water-based and has a unique texture so bring your foundation brush along to the counter to make sure it is compatible, i.e. has manmade bristles. Ignore protests of Chanel Lady.
On a positive note, Voile Universel looks faboo over my fake, winter "light tan" but is too pale for my summer "dark tan".
PACKAGING: Weirdly cheap looking; I expect better from Chanel! 1 fl oz (30 ml).
PRICE: $40 USD at department stores, chichi boutiques, etc.
PROS: SPF 15. Cute double C logo on cap. Featherlight coverage.
CONS: Super sheer. Pink! Très chère.
SUMMARY: Great for days when I just need to even out my skintone.
WILL buy again (If I ever run out).

I swapped for this. I usually love Chanel foundation but did not enjoy this. I have had shade Vanilla and it was way too dark for me. Even though it is sheer it still makes me look muddy and icky. I threw it into a rubbish and my mom had found it and picked it up from there. Now someone wonders why did not I just give it to her at first place? She does not wear much makeup and I thought she would be bothered if I offer her my old stuff. So I quess she likes it. She is a little darker than me and she has kinda thicker and oilyer skin. I can tell it looked natural on her. This might be a great option for those who have aging skin because it brings nice youthfull radiance and is very sheer. And also this would be good option for men who want to wear something on their skin without it being very noticeably if you can tolerate a little bit feminine scent.

I am a C4, and didn't think I could find a color match as they all looked too pink or orange. Surprisingly, it is so sheer that even Vanille works for me. I have combination skin with an oily T zone and dry cheeks. I apply this over my normal moisturizer and finish with BE mineral veil. Looks great, very sheer and lightweight feeling. No breakouts, not streaky, and no greaseslicks later in the day.
Overall, would still recommend an SPF under since this stuff is so light, it's hard to tell how much coverage you are getting.

I am the type of person who would rather look like I have acne than look like I'm covering it up. When makeup cakes around blemishes or is visible in any way, I won't wear it. This foundation is the best, most natural looking ever. It kind of gives an airbrushed look where discoloration is smoothed out and hazey looking, but still there. Hey, if you want imperfections to be invisible, this is not the product for you, but the one that is will look/feel like makeup (not for me). The formula feels great on skin and gives a fresh dewey/glowey look and feel. It never sinks into creases or leaves any streaks or lines. Traceless, even if you are looking very hard and close-up. Your secret is safe with Chanel.

Very sheer - but it does even out my skin tone. I am an NC30 and I use this in Vanille 30 (the 2 darker shades were just too deep for me to even try). This looks great on. I love a natural look and thats exactly what you get with this - only your skin looks more refined. The broad spectrum SPF is an added bonus.

This product is hard to review because it provides absolutely no coverage. It is ultra sheer and provides some sun protection. Other than that, I find this to be a fairly boring foundation.

I would probably call this the TM for oily skin. Most TM's will make you grease up like a Texas Oil Well if you have oily skin. This foundation provides light, natural looking coverage. I have fair, freckeled skin with a rosy tint. I chose Amande for my shade and follwed up with Clair Trans 1 Loose powder from Chanel as well. While you can still see my freckles, which I like, it smoothed any other imperfections. while making my skin feel nude still. The make-up is quite watery in texture and when I first applied I made the mistake os useing a sponge. I then applied more to my face with my fingers in dabs and used my foundation brush. This was a vast improvement. The sponge absorbed most the the foundation into it leaving my face with nothing on it. The brush is the way to go with a watery texture lke this. I will definately buy again. I am not sure what volor I would go to in the summer though. The amande is a perfect winter color for me.

It is the best foundation ever!! I use shade 30 Vanille. It isn't the perfect match for my MMM Mac C4 skin, but it is still very wearable. At first, the color looked a way too orange for my golden tanned skin, but it is very sheer and looks natural without giving ugly streaks like other foundations. This doesn't really cover much like tinted moisturizers but it works actually much better than any other TMs that makes my combo skin oily. And it doesn't break me out either. Since it doesn't cover any spots, I use a bit of concealer and MAC Studio Fix to cover up my T zone area over this, and it works very well. Would definitely repurchase unless i find something better. I hope Chanel makes more choices on colors.

i wanted to get MAC's tinted mosturizer SELECT Tint SPF 15 but realise that they dun sell it in singapore ..:(..so i walked around looking for another similar product..
i didn't know much abt this foundation ..i bought it because it was sheer and has spf and also its from Chanel ( it must be good right? )..:) the first thing i do when i went home is to read its reviews on MUA..
I bought this for SGD52 in 30 Vanille..color is perfect and its v sheer which i love coz i dun want to feel cake up u see..coverage is v sheer like i said but it seeems to even the skin tone..it doesnt cover the spots but somehow it makes u look radiant!! hard to describe.. i usually use my matt mosturizer before i apply this..i have an oily skin but this product doesn't makes it oilier..i'll just dab on my loose powder if it gets oilier..
in humid weather no matter how matt ur makeup is u will surely tend to get oily so i'm not bothered so much abt whether this foundation makes my face oilier..
and it does smell nice!! hehe..absolutely love it ..will definitely repurchase!!

On my skin, this feels and looks like a joke for a foundation that cost well over $50. I purchased the second lightest shade, 20 pastel for my NC25 skin. Damn, did it look orange! Not only that, the texture and feel of the foundation reminded me way too much about MAC select tint which costed almost 50% less. HIGHLY disappointed because I love the vitalumere(I wore 20 clair which was a dead on match). It didn't break me out or make me look too oily. Eh, I'll use this during the winter time when I get a tan.
