This was given to me as a gift. As it states, it is a lightweight foundation. It feels like you have nothing on. the downside is that after an hour or so, i literally got nothing on as it already melted. I have very oily skin so I do not complain much about its staying power as practically nothing has ever hold up to my skin except Revlon colorstay. This maybe good for people with normal to dry skin. It gives a very natural and youthful glow. Makes you look flawless. Can layer up all you want without caking, can even be placed on top of powder without caking. But then again, since it doesnt stay on me for even 2 hours, will not purchase when the one I had runs out.

This foundation is perfect for sheer coverage on drier skin types, so if that's you I'd definitely recommend it, otherwise there are probably a lot of better products out there. But the bottle is beautiful and really elegant. I bought mine online from ebeauty.ca for $42, just sure where else you might be able to buy it. It takes me a long time to go through foundation but when I run out I will probably repurchase.

Bought This on a whim some time ago because , well, I'm a sucker for scents, and this foundation smelt heavenly! Not to mention it blended onto my skin like a dream. The initial turnout was beautiful. I applied and blended it in with my fingers.... and viola! My face was glowy and flawless! Then it started to streak/rub off after 3 hours or so. :(
I tried setting it with loose powder and blotting throughout the day, and that seemed to work for awhile. Overall it has medium buildable coverage (creamy texture is a dream to apply, wait a minute for it to sink into your skin) Lasting power is so-so, I wish it were better. what a pity, dispensing the product can be a pain in the ***! I always end up wasting more product than I use and it seems quite unsanitary to smear the unused stuff back into the bottle with my fingers. It's redeeming factor would be that the bottle makes a gorgeous dresser ornament. Overall I'd say go for it if you have normal to dry skin, and if you don't live in a humid country like me.

I'm reviewing for the protective fluid foundation with spf25. The design of the bottle itself is beautiful and practical.The small nozzle allows for getting out small amount of product. This foundation has very sheer coverage which is not enough to cover my acne scars at all.I have oily skin and this foundation feels oily though it's actually runny.I also oil up faster when I use this.Will finish using my bottle but will not repurchase.

This is a nice foundation, but not amazing. After a few hours (3-4), it makes my face an oil slick. I usually do not have to use any setting or blotting powders throughout the day, however, with this I do. The color also seems to slightly oxidize by the end of the day. However, the first few hours, it is beautiful on. I gave this 3 stars because if I blot throughout the day, it is a nice foundation. And the packaging is absolutely adorable! and the pump is nice as well, it gives a lot of control, unlike many pumps that just squirt the product out and you end up with a glop of product that you end up wasting.

Let me start with saying that this is a great foundation. It is light, fresh and provides reasonable (on the sheer side) coverage. It holds up well (only tried it in winter) and does not oxidise. The colour 30 is beautiful; yellow/neutral and a fantastic match to my nc25 skin. The only bad part is that I need to blot 3-4 times during the day, but I can manage that. I also wear this with the new Dior Nude sculpting powder in 32 and they complement each other well. I have had no breakouts with this at all.

Adorable packaging for this Paul and Joe Protective Fluid Foundation in SPF25PA+++ in N 20-the white vintage, plastic bottle, with the screw top, and internal applicator tip (good because it helps with dispensing small amounts of product at a time). Made in Japan. For 30mls. this was quite overpriced, considering that it's not HG material for me. That said, just the fact that it has a higher SPF than my usual tinted moisturizers, combined with the sheer coverage, made it an excellent compromise coverage foundation for me (still does). I love the fragrance, too, despite the fact that ordinarily, fragrances in foundation makeup are typically undesirable for me. This is perhaps half a shade darker than my personal preference, but it blends so smoothly, that it's not a deal-breaker. It's delicate, pretty and not 'overdone'. I find myself reaching for it frequently, and always enjoy using and wearing it. It makes me 'glowy' in a good way :) Won't purchase again, but that's just me-I'll enjoy it while it lasts. Wondering if the cute packaging is refillable/reusable?.

I bought this product since I heard so many good reviews about it on the web. Overall I thought this product was just okay. Pros: The packaging is cute, typical Paul & Joe stuff (vintage looking and feminine). I am fair to light, am Asian with yellow undertones and this foundation in 10 matched it perfectly. The texture is fluid like a light TM and blends easily. Cons: It looked good on other parts of my face but on my nose it did not blend as well and it seemed to make the skin on my nose look dry. I used a primer beforehand too so am not sure why it does that. My test is if the foundation does not look good on my nose then it is not for me. Perhaps I need a foundation that is more moisturizing. However this foundation based on this observation will probably work better on normal to oily complexions. I will use this bottle up but most likely will not re-purchase.

I used the older version in the glass bottle. It covered while looking natural and looked like my skin. Really it did! By the end of day it held nicely. The new version is a bit different. I wish that they didn't change it. It runnier and the coverage is not as good. darn it.....

I hate to be the only one who post a negative comment here. I actually like this foundation, which is really light but still makes my skin look glowy and flawless! I have combination-oily skin, but I don't even need to use powder to set it. Super long lasting! However, it broke me out very serious. I guess most of the foundation would break me out since my skin is kinda sensitive. The glass bottle is soooo prettt! It's really a pity that I can't use it.

The one I use is actually the PROTECTIVE FLUID FOUNDATION. With SPF 25++. I think the formula's going to be pretty similar though...that is...BOTH ARE HG MATERIAL!

When it comes to flawless, natural skin, I think the Japanese have it down to an art form. Paul & Joe's fluid foundation is really what foundation should be, lightweight yet provides enough coverage.

I don't even use a brush for this. I shake the bottle, squeeze (because the protective one comes in a white plastic bottle, not a glass one) a nickel-size amount into my palm, and dot the foundation on my face. Then I use my fingers to spread it out. The formula is liquid enough for you to do that and achieve a natural, glowing face.

I have an oily t-zone, yet this manages to stay on for at least 6 hours. I shine a little, but natural...it's not an oil-fest on my face, nor is it unnaturally matte. It makes my face glow, look more awake...but still natural. Keyword: natural. I love this foundation to bits!

(By the way, I plan to switch to the Light Cream Foundation when fall/winter comes...it's supposedly more moisturizing!)

This review is for the white bottle foundation with SPF25PA++(Protective Fluid Foundation N 30ml in 02). This reminds me greatly of another fluid foundation from DHC - see my review of that, too - also made in Japan, interestingly. This was an expensive indulgence from Beautyhabit. As other reviewers have mentioned, this has a light, fresh lotion texture on the skin. With my Summer skintone, the 02 shade is just slightly too dark. Maybe by half a shade or so. It's perfectly acceptable for sheer casual everyday wear, however, I wouldn't wear this at night, or for a job interview, or anything like that. It has a delightful herbal scent that does tend to linger on my face. By day's end, this foundation was still in place, but I'm not convinced how this might perform in changing and challenging climates. A little pricey for less than 50 mls, in my opinion. Will use this for the rest of my Summer outdoor wear, but will likely not re-purchase.

I got this in Hong Kong for $320HKD? I can't remember, but I thought it was rather pricey for a foundation because the Korean Won wasn't doing too well when I did the currency exchange. I purchased the Light Cream Foundation N in #30. It comes with SPF15 and smells soo nice! It doesn't have added fragrance either which is a plus..so the nice smell is all natural.
Anyway, I'm glad I got this. This is the first foundation that I've been using on a daily basis. The previous one was by Orbis and it's a touch too dark for me. Even though it was a bit pricey, I felt it was worth it because this is the kind of foundation I'm looking for: light-medium coverage and very smooth. It was better than having to test all sorts of foundations when I've already read many good reviews about the P&J one.
The oil control isn't superb, my t-zone tends to get oily after a few hours so that wasn't a surprise.
I like how the foundation applies so smoothly. I use my fingers to do a patting motion when applying the foundation and it works well without leaving streaks or uneven patches.
The foundation comes in a beautiful frosted glass bottle with a plastic cap that has the signature P&J flower on it. The bottle is rather inconvenient because I'm always scared I'll drop it and break it. It doesn't come with a pump so I have to use a q-tip to get the amount I want. I don't want to stick my finger into the bottle or pour out the foundation..so it's kinda bad that i know i'll be losing out on a tiny amount of foundation each time.
I definitely recommend this to those who prefer a light-medium coverage foundation. It's totally worth the money!

OMG so this is a miracle in a bottle. This is the BEST foundation i've used so far, it's even better than my $50 kanebo sensai foundation! (this paul and joe foundation is only 38 dollars) It melts onto my skin and looks absolutely flawless. It's medium coverage and is SO light on the skin. It practically feels as if I'm not even wearing foundation. I LOVE THIS STUFF, and I totally recommend it !

My only complain is the bottle.. There isn't a pump or anything, and it's quite difficult to get out of the bottle. Other than that.. FABULOUS!

This is a great foundation, very natural, for oily skin like me, you definitely need to put a mattifying primer underneath. The staying power is alright, I can usually go for about 3-4 hours without looking bad. I used it with YSL matt touche and the results are airbrushed skin. I hope they don't discontinue because I will def repurchase.

This is a beautiful foundation if you don't need medium to full coverage and aren't super pale. I am NC15 and the lightest shade was too dark and it wasn't enough coverage for my acne scar ridden crappy skin. But it goes on so smoothly and has a dewy finish. It is moisturizing yet doesn't get too oily throughout the day. Gorgeous liquid foundation.

On first application I honestly didn't like it. Thought it too sheer and overly 'glowy'. Then I remembered a great trick a makeup artist taught me about how to make a sheer foundation more opaque:
~~~Lightly stipple the foundation on with a dry sponge. Let it sit on your skin (without blending) for about 10-15 seconds. Then blend it over the skin with the same sponge. By letting it sit unblended on the skin the moisture in the foundation is able to lightly evaporate which enables the pigment to perform more coverage. It really works with ANY foundation.~~~
In doing so with P&J I was able to get the full potential of this beautiful, natural foundation which wears amazing well all day long. It is glowly which I've grown to love. Very expensive but a little goes a long way. Highly recommended.
I'm an NC15 & generally go for yellow based foundation. P&J only has 6 (I think) colors, #1 was so yellow it made me look jaundiced, #2 looks a tad pink but really it's very neutral and the yellow in it does come through enough to even the skintone, That's the one I use. Also the packaging is the nicest retro pink I've seen in ages.
This is a gorgeous foundation...I had bought this AND the Light Cream foundation from beautyhabit.com, meaning to choose between them when they came but I couldn't...I kept both! The texture is light and fluid but not watery, gives more coverage than a TM but looks VERY natural, light and not made up (though it seems buildable to me). I wear 03 and I love it! I would buy again but being such an addict it will take me FOREVER to finish this...
EDIT: March 2009
They have reformulated this foundation and the name is now "Protective Fluid Foundation N" in a white opaque bottle. I took a look at the ingredient list and I saw mineral oil (about 3/4 way down the list) so I did not try or purchase it, due to my skin not liking mineral oil. Just a heads up.
Very good foundation. I have very oily skin and I do need powder on top like all other liquid foundations in order to prolong the wear. It gives a dewy glow which my boyfriend pointed out ("Wow! You look so glowy today"). The colour doesn't really match me but that's because I bought it online so I could not test it. Nevertheless, this blends well and it has light-medium to medium coverage. In comparison with my other favourite foundation, Shu Uemura's Face Architect, Paul & Joe's foundation looked better on the face (according to my boyfriend) but Shu's colour selection is much better. They are both great though. I bought a #03 but will try a #01 in the future. This foundation also has some SPF protection but I would not rely on this (as with most other foundations with SPF). I will repurchase and too bad this is not available in Canada. =(
Also, other reviewers have mentioned that there are sparkles but I don't see any. They may have been reviewing another foundation or the primer.
Update: It's too dark for my skintone and I do see the sparkles now under direct lighting but you need to be very, very close to see any at all.
