What is up with the smell? I've tried this cream over and over again and the smell is just awful. Along with that...it always causes MAJOR breakouts. I so wanted this to work because I grew up using Avon. But everytime I try their ANEW line, my skin looks awful!
Age: 30-35 Skin: Normal, Fair-Medium Hair: Brunette Eyes: Brown
i had had pretty good results with this product. It's never caused me to break out like some heavier cream have done, and although at 32 I dont have any significant wrinkles or lines, my face feels firmer when I'm using this. I recommend using it at least 12 weeks before you give up, it takes some people's skin longer to make a noticeable difference than others. Primarily, this is very similar to CLINIQUE's total turnaround...they both promote quick cell turnover.
Age: 25-29 Skin: Combination Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
I personally broke out with this. It is greasy to me and clogs my pores. I did not see a significant enough difference in my skin to keep using this. The smell turns my stomach.
Age: 30-35 Skin: Oily, Dark Hair: Brunette Eyes: Green
I recently began using this product again after using it several years ago. Now, I wonder why I ever abandoned this product. It really works nicely for my oily skin w/fine lines. My skin has a beautiful glow and texture. I also use some of the companion products like the 2 in 1 cleanser and the Day Defense Lotion. I have tried some other products in the Anew line, but, this seems to work much more nicely for my skin needs. I hated the Triple Lifting creams which are actually marketed towards my age group because it broke me out in millions of itchy bumps. But, these products are effective and seem gentle to my skin.

I used this product for a number of months and it did nothing for me. I would not recommend this product because of the skin irritants and heavy fragrance.

I have been using this product for years - through every packaging change (latest to it's new name: Retroactive+ Night Cream). It is composed mainly of botanicals, so if you have sensitive skin or have a lot of allergies to plant materials OR fragrance, I would recommend getting a sample from your AVON lady first to make sure you can handle it. Best tactic: try it on the back of your hand first. If you handle that OK, then try it on the jaw line or back of your neck (if you don't want anyone to see an adverse reaction, if one occurs). This is a gel-bsaed, lightweight moisturizer with a light, fresh fragrance. GREAT for oily skin! I give it high marks but can see how others might not like it.
Age: 36-43 Skin: Normal Hair: Brown Eyes: Hazel
I like how firm my skin feels with this product. I do not like the smell, which I have noticed in the Anew retroactiv Body lotion, also. I would buy this again if at a good price.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Acne-prone, Tan Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
I've used this product as part of my skincare regimen twice in my life, and both times it broke out my skin badly. Not in acne either, in sort of a rash. I'm guessing that I'm probably allergic to it. During my use I didn't notice any positive effects at all on my skin and was very disappointed. I didn't mind the smell like some of the other reviewers did, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone particularly sensitive to scent in their facial care products or to those with sensitive eyes. It often made my eyes sting and burn.

I've tried the new Retroactive+ on 3 different occassions & it has broken me out every time! The old version was one of my all-time favorites! I wish they still offered this on avon.com so I don't have to search for it on ebay.

This was a 5 for a few weeks, then dropped to a 1 when I became allergic to it. LOVED my skin for those few weeks though! Wish I could tolerate it. And I don't even have sensitive skin, except for an allergy to chamomile. So reacting to this was a surprise. If you know you have sensitive skin, you might want to pass on Avon.

Ok, this is referring to the Retroactive +Repair which is the new formulation. I reviewed the old version and it was my HG. I got away from it abit because I was just bored and trying some other things, came back to find the formula different and now I HATE it, its breaking me out all over and I can't stand it. I got two jars cause they were on sale so now I'm either going to swap or sell on ebay because I will never use this stuff again.

Whooooeee! The smell, ohmygod, the smell. I just can't get past it. It smells like Barbie doll legs - you know, the fresh vinyl smell of those dolls when you take them out of the box. Double dog yuck. Other than that, the price wasn't too bad, packaging so-so and while it did make my skin look dewy, I will not purchase this again.
Much prefer Neutrogena's Firming Copper Cream in a jar. A smell I could tolerate.

Really liked what this product did for my skin but like others I found it too fragranced for my taste. I wish avon would offer some of their skincare products in a fragrance free option.
Age: 30-35 Skin: Normal, Fair, Warm Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Coarse Eyes: Hazel
I could hardly get past the overpowering smell of this cream to try it for very long. It also stung my eyes, so I guess I'm sensitive to something in it (maybe the perfume???)
Age: 30-35 Skin: Dry Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
Very light gel cream, feels cool and soothing on the skin. I have not seen any noticable difference in skin discolorations, works ok on wrinkles, but it is a nice base for under makeup, and it feels so good. It could be a bit more moisturizing, great for sensitive skin. Smells nice.
Age: 36-43 Skin: Combination Hair: Blond Eyes: Blue
I have used this moisturizer for several years and have gotten many compliments on my complexion. I like the fact that it doesn't have SPF in it like quite a few other moisturizers do - I use a foundation w/ an SPF that is enough sun protection. I also feel like Retroactive helps foundation apply more evenly. Not greasy at all, infact Avon touts it as a cream-gel. The soft, femine Retro signature scent is as soothing as the feel of it on my skin.

I really donít know if this does anything for my skin, but I love it. I put it on at night and when I stumble into the bathroom in the morning, my skin looks radiant. I should mention that I started using Avonís glycolic peels a few weeks before I added this to my routine. The retractive cream did make a difference beyond just doing the peels, but I donít know how well it would work if I wasnít using the peel kit too.

Its intentions are good but I gave it a swing and got a mild breakout. But I think it is better for drier older skin types. Otherwise, if you have combination skin...look elsewhere.
Luckily, it was a sample I tried.

I have used Retroactive since it was released. I am 48, but recently fooled a professional "age guesser" in Las Vegas. She guessed that I was 32! Yes, I am a sun worshipper and have tanned all my life...even though now I use massive sunscreen. This is simply the best product I have ever used. I use it in the morning now that the Clinical for pm use is released. Fine lines are gone, no breakouts, my forehead creases are better, and I just feel more confident. I swear that I have thought about selling the stuff, I believe in it that much. Try it, try it, try it.

I love this, really "wakes up" your skin. Not too crazy for the scent, but for what it does I can put up with the smell.
