Plasticky sandalwood with some spice thrown in. Not one of her better ones.

Clove.
Definitely clove.
Then a soft cedar peeks through the clove.
After a while, the sandalwood comes through and melds with the clove and cedar, making (surprisingly, to me) a tangy sandalwood.

The drydown is lovely - I had one of those nose plastered to wrist moments. I really don't want to fight through the clove to get there, however.

This is the only sandalwood that I have found wearable. The lovely blend of chai tea spice at the opening, offers only tiny peephole view of the sandalwood that lies beneath.

I find sandalwood chokingly sweet, like a bad mens cologne... and I've tried a LOT of sandalwoods, in order to find one that I can wear.

After about an hour of wearing this scent, the sandalwood is the most prominent note - but a nice dry, very wearable sandalwood indeed!

I'm not particularly a fan of DSH's oils, but Sensual Sandalwood was rather a pleasant surprise for me. It opens with an extremely resinous note, and has a very woody feel to it. This is not the rich, mellow, harmonious wood accord of SL's Bois series, rather it calls to mind something freshly sawn that you just purchased at Home Depot's lumber department. It shares a rather "splinter-y" quality that I previously encountered in SL's oaken monolith, Chene. When this fragrance finally hits its drydown phase, it reaches its ultimate sandalwood self. This is a very dry, woody sandalwood, and much to my surprise, I actually prefer it to most sandalwood frags I've experienced, including Tam Dao and 10 Corso Como. The only reason I've subtracted one lippie is because I think it would function better as either a candle or a room spray. Lasting power is way above average.

Initially, upon trying Sensual Sandalwood I was ready to alert the sandalwood police about false advertising since the clove and cinnamon were so strong that there appeared to be no sandalwood in there at all. However, after a few minutes the sandalwood does indeed make an appearance and it's worth the wait as it's a quite high quality, dry, resinous sandalwood. The clove, cinnamon and other spices aren't exactly in awe enough to recede, however, and they remain strong for quite some time. Only in the final stages of the dry down do they really dissipate enough for the sandalwood to really be the star player. This is undoubtedly a fall/winter fragrance and although it is certainly a sensual comfort scent, I think I'd have called it Spiced Sandalwood instead.

This is a lovely spice scent, but sandalwood?? Where? If I really try hard, I can pick up a trace of sweeter sandalwood in the last hours of the drydown. But that's it. Really, this scent is clove, nutmeg, and some other nice spices. It smells a lot like DSH Sensual Spice, just a little more strong with the clove. It's a nice scent, but disappointing because I was expecting more sandalwood. The notes listed on the site are clove bud, virginia cedar, and sandalwood.

This is one of the warmest, most mysterious, enticing fragrances there is in the spice/wood category. It is a deceptively simple combination: Sandalwood, clove, cedar (per DSH site). But somehow, the clove and cedar combine to suggest infinate spices -- nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper. The cedar is rich and dry vanilla-y. The sandalwood is the best quality, and the wood notes of the cedar and sandalwood link to suggest a rich forest. I can't explain this, but while this is a perfect scent for a woman, if I ever smelled it on a man, I think I would fall in love with him on the spot. It is the most radiantly unisex thing I can imagine.

If you haven't experienced DSH oils before, this is a great place to start -- you get an instant idea of the incredible quality of her ingrediants, and at the same time, the layering, complexity, and wonderfully creative nose at work. I cannot recommend this fragrance enough.

This smells like christmas poutpourri to me. You can smell the wood, the cloves, the nutmeg. Smells a bit more like a room freshener than a perfume but I still like it. I get compliments too. I wear this as an occassional scent as it is too unusual for every day wear. It is smooth, well composed and delicious.

A beautiful soft scent. I want to call it Sensual Clove, however : ) I get mostly clove with nutmeg and just a faint trace of sandalwood in the drydown. Absolutely LOVE this scent. It's cozy and warm, yet refreshing at the same time.

I can detect some clove in this -- the sandalwood is very sweet, and very persistent. It's not my favorite sandalwood. Maybe because it's so strongly associated with the scent of a particular sandalwood incense I used to burn in college, and I'd rather not be transported back there...

Like this one a lot. Nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and sandalwood, what's not to like? :-) Cozy comfy scent. I could be mistaken, but I think this has a tabacco note? It's hard for me to choose btw this one and sensual spice, which I also really like. Maybe I need both? :-)

Very disappointing. This is the first sample of DSH fragrances I've tried (I purchased 20 samples)
My sample smelled heavily of cloves. I could detect no sandalwood. Upon application, the scent was very strong but quickly dried down to a faint aroma. After an hour, the scent wasn't detectable at all. No lasting power.

This is incredible... a deep, rich nutmeg on a smooth base of sandalwood. A very wearable sandalwood, and a gorgeous Fall scent!
