Are you like me-you buy a pencil to line your lid and it disappears within an hour?
I've run through so many brands and so many $ wasted! This is the real deal, ladies!
Estee Lauder's artist eye pencil stays put for hours and comes in beautiful shades. I must admit though-black is my favorite!

I disagree with others who say this pencil is hard. I have this in 02 Soft Smudge Brown, and it's very creamy and soft. The one downside is that it is not as long wearing as other pencil eyeliners I've tried, and tends to fade a little throughout the day. But it goes on really well, and like the name suggests it's easy to smudge if that's the look you want to go for. I wouldn't repurchase this just because it's not long wearing, but I do love how soft and easy it is to use. I also prefer retractable pencils.

ARGGG ESTEE LAUDER YOU HURT...
No, really, This stuff is way too tough to get onto my waterline. The only way I can see myself liking this if I were to use this gently on my lower lash line and smoke it out. However, I don't favor that look. I like a dark waterline and this was just painful.

I got this as a bonus when I went in to buy their mascara that I like. So far I have found it good; I don't think it's the best pencil I have ever used but I wouldn't say it's the worst either. However, knowing the price point I doubt that I would spend the money on it.

Different from other reviews, I love this eyeliner. Yes, it's not the softest liner, but I like the harder ones better than the super soft ones. Mine has an amazing color-payoff, and if you work past, you can smudge it with some eyeshadow and a brush really well. It sets quite fast and stays on all day, on the lids and on the waterline aswell. It's also quite intense on the waterline and I love to use it as a tightliner under my upper lashes. I have the Black liner and I'd love to get the other one's aswell, sadly they're quite expensive, I don't even know if they're available in germany at all, cause I bought it in Ireland. The black shades work well with most of my eyeshadows aswell.

To be honest with you, don't bother with my price rating because I have no idea how much this cost I got it as a stocking stuffer a year ago! Anyways, I have the brown eyeliner and I HATE the packaging. The cap breaks off the sharp point. I have all this crumbled brown stuff at the tip of the cap and the pencil point is worn down. It is a terribly packaged product. But the color is nice and faintly goes over your waterline perfectly. It is a little hard to work with but since I haven't used it much since i disocvered the cap problem I probably don't have much experience. All I know is that the brown is a nice, deep shade but it is BAD packaging and yes, that is enough to take away two lippys because who wants an unsharpened, bad pencil? I don't like having to poke that thing on my eye, but it's whatever since I have other eyeliners. But it mainly just hurts to apply and is just not the best quality! Don't waste your money! XOXO

Seriously the worst pencil eyeliner I ever used!!!
I have the black and the brown from a Christmas gift set. The color payoff is weak, the pencil is VERY HARD, it literally hurts to put it on - even after sharpening it or warming it up close to the bathroom light bulb! Do not even dream it will show up on the waterline. When applied on the upper lid (scratching the skin 5+ times to get some decent colour), it stays in a harsh line that cannot be softened or blended our using a brush.
No comparison whatsoever with the Urban Decay 24/7. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

I think there's some confusion on this review page on what product is being reviewed.
The image is of Estée Lauder's Double Wear stay in place eyeliner which is soft, long lasting and with a smudge tip at the other end. A great product for lining the water line and for smudging on the upper lid. It does need a sharp pencil sharpener though, otherwise it will clog and break off in a blunt sharpener.
The title of the review on this page is artists eye pencil, which is so hard it drags the eyelid, doesn't have a smudge tip end and is very difficult to use. I would not recommend this product to anyone unless I didn't like them very much and was feeling particularly mean.

Quite bad. I have it in four different colours, brown, black, slate, and i dont know the last... Got em as gift. Would never purchase. Poor payoff, plus hurts eyelids because it's too hard. Don't recommend. Am using the brown as a lipliner when i wear brownish nudes... It's red toned so it works... Don't recommend these liners.

Used to be the eyeliner I reached for every morning before I moved onto gel eyeliners in search of something longer-lasting.
I love the way it glides with minimal pressure. While it is not smudge-proof, I found that it manages to smudge "nicely" - leaving soft shadows instead of a drab-looking mess usually left by straying eyeliners. I have this in Soft Smudge Brown, which is perfect for a natural, everyday look.
I probably wouldn't pay full price for this (because I'm a cheapskate :P) but should I return to pencil eyeliners again, this would probably be the one I'd use.

In my opinion, this is a good eyeliner if I were to base it on the price. Its easy to draw lines, even one stroke is enough already.
In terms of quality, I can say that this product is great. I got it for a very affordable price so I can say that its really a good one for that price. The only thing that I dont like about this eyeliner is that it can easily be removed with water. I tried to rub the lines on my hand using water and they were gone instantly. I also noticed the same on my waterline. I might not repurchase this one and I wouldn't recommend this product also because I know that there are a lot of other brands there that can do a better job.

I got this eyeliner and i got a free gift because my mom's friend works at that counter. It was $20... ummmm i should of got the power point eyeliner from MAC for $15, but my mom wanted the free gift since she gave 2. haha I wanted an eyeliner that wouldn't smudge but accidentally the lady got the smudge one.. Well Now i don't use pencil that much because it smudges and gets on top of my eyelid sometimes. I would recommend this on water line but not so on eye lid.

I have 2 black and one each of the brown and the purple shimmer - and I HATE them all!! The tips are too soft. When I sharpen one of these pencils it breaks off and clogs up my pencil sharpener in a mushy sticky mess. I have lost most of the pencil trying to get a point and then have to clean out my sharpener everytime. When I manage to get this to a usuable point, it is so soft it goes on unevenly, with little dark crumbs breaking off into the line, so you HAVE to quickly use the smudger to melt the the crumbs before it sets just to even it out. If I don't smudge it looks sloppy as though it was applied drunk, or hours ago. Then, it smudges off and gives me panda eyes. The purple shimmer was amazingly pretty even though.

My sister has this and swears by it. Honestly, I don't know what she sees in this. I tried it on my waterline and ugh... I was a mess. I looked like a raccoon after an hour.
On a positive side, the like its smudge tool at the other end. I find that the eyeliner is easy to apply. Glides on smoothly on my upper eyelid but annoyingly smudges! Hate it, sorry.

I hate this eye liner. It's smudgy and not very easy to apply. The cap always smashes the tip of the eyeliner. The Double Wear liner from Estee Lauder is so much better.

I actually do like this pencil, it's good for everyday. I have the color 02 SoftSmudge Brown. My mom got it as a gift in a holiday set and didn't want it. I've been trying to use up cosmetics that I already have first before buying new ones so I recently started using this. It was a bit hard in the beginning but one time the tip broke off a bit and it actually made lining a lot easier. So maybe it's just the top layer that needs to come off. Anyways, I really like the brown shade, it's a really soft flattering brown to line your lower lid. I use to only use black to line my lower lid but tried this and the brown is a lot more subtle and flattering for day time. It's not very noticeable which is what I like, it's a soft smudgy shade. It reminds me of when you line your lids with a shadow but this lasts longer than a shadow. Lasting power is not the greatest but it's not bad either. It smudges a bit but it is called Soft Smudge brown after all. The reason why I'm giving this only a 3 though is because I just read another reviewer say this is $19....$19?? If I didn't get this for free I wouldn't buy it. It's a nice pencil but you can find the same thing at a drugstore. Nice but nothing outstanding enough to be worth $19. I also agree with other MUAers that Estee Lauder products seem way too overpriced for the quality. I've also gotten an eyeshadow palette as a gift and it was very mediocre, it's just sitting at the bottom of my drawer right now.

This pencil is total waste of $19. It is hard as hell, tugs and pulls your lid to the point that it hurts. I tried to use it on my waterline and it irritated a hell out of my sensitive eyes. I lost the receipt so i couldn't take it back and had to just throw it away. Estee Lauder make-up is totaly overpriced and overrated!

This is a great pencil. It is true that it is not the softest pencil around and first it did smudge on me too. Then I had to make it last because it happened to be the only eye liner I had for a while when I was waiting to get another MAC liquidlast in mail. So it did smudge on me when I only applied it on top of eye shadow and left it like that. But this time I went to work and I applied powder on my eye lids before applying the liner, I also powdered under my eyes on top of my concealer so there was no oilines under my eyes that could make the eye pencil stick there. So I applied the pencil on powdered dry surface and then I run through it with eye shadow so it wont stay moist. And this way I was surprised to notice that this liner had lasted through the working day, and the eye liner did not move even though I got salt in my eye at work and my eyes were tearing like madness! I really dont know if softer pencils like MAC Kohl would last through the working day, but I doubt it becuase they really tend to smudge on me in a couple of minutes, but maybe you can try this tip with any kohl you have. I really like the estee lauder pencil becuase it is hard so I can also use it to fill in my brows, so it is perfect to pack in my bags when travelling because it has double uses. When I use it for its actual purpose as an eye liner I heat it up a little bit against my skin first so it will glide easier. I think it is a nice product, but I am realy sad becuase I think they did remove the blending tip of the full size version too. I know GWP has never had the blending tip but the full size version had it when I bought this first time. These are really easy to get cheaply from discount sites, but the ones that are cheap are the GWPs without the blending tip.

I have this in the soft smude black, the soft smudge brown and slate writer. The problem with these pencils are that they are too hard and not much colour comes out of them. Resharpening before use helps a bit however I will not repurchase these again. Teddy from mac still is the best
