I read some great reviews here and it was on sale (bogo) making it even cheaper since I was already getting some NYC nail polish.

I've got very dry skin and redness on my cheeks. This looked quite natural, non cakey (I use a moisturizing sunscreen), and have medium coverage but is buildable. I applied with a dampened sponge but find lightly tapping over a redder area provides more coverage without that thick, they can see you're wearing foundatio from a mile away, look.
It is very thick as everyone has said, I use a clean cotton swab to get it out of the bottle. I bought nude which is slightly too dark and pink for my very fair, olive-yellowy, skin. When I bought it Nude was interestingly in two places in the display, the name, not just a misplaced product. However yesterday I saw a lighter shade in a display at another store which I will likely try too. For now I use bronzer as the weather warms up so the shade isn't as issue, but the lighter one would be great for fall/winter.

Overall I'm very impressed because my biggest issue with foundation is that cakey, dry, spakcled look even if you apply a light coat of it. I hate that so much I've taken to wearing no foundation and just spot concealing. But that's so time consuming and laborious compared to just dabbing on a foundation. Granted I still have a few redder spots I need to go back over with a concealer, but this foundation covers enough that I don't need to spot conceal as much yet still looks like skin in bright day light.
I do wish the shades leaned more yellow, I find it really hard to get yellow (esp fair yellow) type shades in the drugstore which seems a problem many have in general, not particular to this brand.

For what its worth I googled and tried to find out if this product is gluten free, and it seems so. I have not called the company yet but will post back when/if I get a more definitive answer but it seems a list I found of NYC products with gluten did not contain this foundation. Don't take my word for it if this is an issue for you. It is for me and as I transition to gluten free products I'll be mentioning it more in my reviews. Great price and worth trying because I don't have a Sephora nor Ulta in my borough of the city and so its not easy to always get samples nor return high end products that didn't work out. Hope this was helpful:)

I have used this off and on since 2005, and I have this in both the older bottles/shades, and a few of the newer ones. I have to say, I much preferred the older shade lineup, the colors had warmer undertones, and darker options for when I'm tan. Having said that, for $2.99, this cheapie foundation yields a natural look and a smooth finish! I don't like heavy coverage, and don't need it, I prefer to use foundation just to even out my skintone, and polish things up a bit, and this does that without breaking the bank. Neither bottle this has been sold in is appropriate for how thick the formula is, but once you get it to start pouring out, it comes out easier with more use. For the price, it's worth a shot!

I got nude, and it made my red cheeks look cakey and pastey. Not for oily skin!

This product is super cheap and honestly fantastic for the price. It covers nicely and blends well, the ivory was actually pretty neutral and matched my skin well. The packaging leaves something to be desired as its tough to get it out of the bottle. Once you do it comes out a little easier everytime you use it. The NYC products are made by Coty, a major name in skin/fragrance products, so it's no wonder we get a great product but the surprising part is the affordability.

I've been using this foundation now for a few weeks and I LOVE it. Like every foundation the colour, when you apply, seems off but once you blend in and it sets it looks amazing!! I don't like using a brush with this particular product so fingers works just fine :) my skin looks absolutely FLAWLESS after I set it! Thoroughly impressed with the price an value :) Didn't break me out at all, either. Only con? You gotta use a Q-Tip to get the product out but I'm used to it now. Definitely buying again!

For being like 4$ this foundation is not bad. I find it looks kinda werid when you very first apply it, but once you smooth it out abit, it sinks and blends in really nicely. The glass bottle with no pump sucks so hard though, who's idea was that?

I really like this foundation, and be aware the packing has change from the picture above. It still has no pump, but after a little bit it gets easier and easier to get it our of the tube. I bough this in barely beige and was a perfect match for me in the summer, but once I started losing my tan I switched to nude, and it was a perfect match! My sister has extremely fair skin, and she could find a match in this brand. So this is good for people who have fair to medium skin tones.

I was really excited to buy this foundation when I saw all the great reviews. Unfortunately it is probably one of the worst I've ever tried. It was difficult to get out of the bottle and it made my face break out. Definitely do not buy if you have acne prone skin. The only reason I didn't give it a complete 1 is because it does have great cover and it matched my skin tone (neutral). I really wanted to like this product, but it isn't for everyone.

I kept seeing this in Target and wanted to try it out. It was only about $3!!!! For a great product, this is worth it. Medium to full coverage. (buildable) As everyone says, yes, this is a challenge to get out but if you keep it upside down, the foundation is easy to get out. Blendable and looks natural and not cakey. Good shade colors, but there could be a few more. If you have very light skin or very dark, this probably isn't for you. Nice foundation for the price!

This stuff was such a pleasant surprise. I bought it in the middle of the night, at Walmart, because we had an unexpected overnight stay and I had nothing with me. I just grabbed the cheapest of everything I could find.

Like I said, this foundation really surprised me. The coverage is fantastic, it applies easily with the fingers (thank goodness, because I didn't have anything with me!), and it looks really smooth and lovely all day long.
The problem is, it's just way too dark for me. In the bottle, it actually looked like it would be pale enough, but sadly, not even close.
It's so smooth and has such great coverage (and it's so cheap!) that I so wish that this could be my new every day foundation, but I'll have to stick to my one and only color match, Alima Neutral 0. Sigh.

I've tried so many foundations, it's not even funny. I get sucked into advertisements and impulse buys so easily. I tried this foundation a few years ago, and forgot about it after moving on to products that just disappointed me. Most of the time I can never find my shade and end up returning four bottles before something comes close to matching me. I picked this up at Walmart for about $3? In the shade "677 Nude" I really forgot how great of a product this is! It's a pain in the butt to try to get out, especially if you're in a hurry. I keep my bottle upside down in my makeup organizer and just tap it on my palm. But the formula is creamy and blends into my skin perfectly. It overs medium coverage, and is extremely buildable without making me feel weighed down. I find I don't have to use as much concealer for my dark circles with this! It doesn't stick to my dry patches or make me outrageously oily. Best of all, it doesn't break me out! This is a great foundation for the price. I think it's over-looked in the drugstore. Give it a try!

I just bought this today in 'Barely Beige' and I must say..I LOVE IT!
I was concerned because this was my first foundation and wasn't sure if I had picked the right shade.
BUT...
as soon as I applied this (I used a Q-tip to get it out) my skin looked so smooth, clean and matte.
I will def repurchase.

Nice foundation. I've repurchased this quite a few times. I keep coming back to it because the Ivory shade is a perfect match for my winter NW15/NW20 skin, it's so wallet-friendly, and the texture and coverage are so lovely. The medium coverage is perfect for me, buildable in my reddish areas that need a little more help, and more sheer in the areas that don't. It has a slightly luminous and very natural looking finish on me, and it's easy to blend out. As most of the other reviews mention, it's definitely difficult to get out of the glass bottle. I've discovered the perfect trick for me. I store it UPSIDE DOWN in my bathroom cabinet or makeup tray, at a slight angle in a corner. It then requires only a couple of taps to get a bit onto my hand. A q-tip also works if it's being stubborn. Definitely worth a look for an nice inexpensive option!

This was my very first foundation and i loved it! It was soo cheap and for the price this was a great product. It blends really well but i recommend using your fingers for this one. I don't like how it took FOREVER to come out of the bottle and how it doesn't have a pump but it is a good product. It takes a while to settle but when it does it look great and lasts almost all day with a light to medium coverage. I think you should only apply one coat because if you try to build it, it can look cakey. Overall it was a good purchace and i really recommend it if you are just starting out with makeup!

This is a great foundation. It stays put all day, gives medium-full coverage, blends well, and looks natural on the skin.

The formula is very thick, and hard to get out of the bottle. Shake the bottle every use. I used a q-tip to dab a bit on my hand, and this worked well.

This gets a 3 lippy rating for me because while it was a great foundation, it broke me out like crazy. I would be weary if you have combination/acne-prone skin, but it's just a few dollars a bottle. Give it a try, it's worth the $3.50 to see if it works.

This is my favorite foundation. It's cheap and it covers well without looking cakey. Like other reviewers have noted though, it's impossible to get any product out. It's really weird...you can shake the bottle forever and the stuff just doesn't budge. I just use a q-tip to get it out, dab some on my skin, and then I use my hand to blend. I have light skin, and though the shade Ivory looks fine, I prefer the Nude shade.

I actually decided to completely change my review. I had said that I enjoyed this but in all honesty, I don't really like this. It's good for light coverage if you want light coverage but it feels oily after awhile. I suffer combination skin and this did not look good on my skin. It also takes forever to get out. I have to use a q-tip to get it out. This is more like a tinted moisturizer to me. It doesn't really cover parts. All it does is even out the skin a little. It is cheap but it's cheap for a reason. I don't like to bring the whole "cheap" aspect in because I buy cheap makeup but my foundations are usually over $8 half the time. I really don't recommend this foundation to anyone.

Seriously amazing foundation! This gives great coverage that is buildable. I apply enough to get a solid medium coverage and I really can't say enough good things about it! Perfect color match (Ivory) and the consistency is wonderful. I love it, and I have used so many different foundations so I definitely have others to compare it to. I only gave it a 4-lippie rating because it is a bit difficult to get out of the bottle. I used a Q-Tip to scoop it out, but that's not a deal-breaker for me. I would highly recommend this foundation to anyone!

I am soooo impressed with this foundation and I can't believe it's under $5. I'm a bit of a foundation junkie, always looking for the next best thing and trying out most new foundations that hit the market. First off, the texture of this foundation is extremely thick, like impossible to get out of the bottle thick. At first, I wasn't quite sure how in the heck I was going to get the product out. I looked around at what I had to make this work and actually ended up swapping the twist off lid on this with the lid from a Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation I had and was going to throw out. It has a long spatula like plastic thing on it that fits perfectly on this bottle and scoops the product right out of the bottle. Without this, I have no idea how anyone would ever get the product out, it's so thick! The best way to describe the consistency of this is thick and mousse like. It blends right into the skin and I have the lightest shade and it matches my skin perfectly. I do have very oily skin and do love the finish this one gives me. It's full coverage but not completely matte. I use the small Ecotools kabuki to work it into my skin and the finish looks airbrushed and slightly dewey. I wear this primarily in the colder months when my skin can handle a little extra moisture. Overall, regardless of the price, this is an excellent foundation if you can figure out how to get it out of the bottle!
