I bought the moisturizing lipstick No. 3 and wow, Stephane Marais really knows what making up is about. It's a creamy, flattering MLBB brick color, matches my skin tone perfectly, doesn't smudge, feather and feels great on the lips. It's unscented, highly pigmented in the European lipstick tradition, so a little goes a long way. Great quality, and I've tried Dior, YSL, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Lancome, etc. If there's a way to persuade Stephane Marais to relaunch this wonderful line, I'd sign on to it! I got mine from beautyandthebestcosmetics.com, they have the last of what's left of this great makeup line, and I've had great customer service from them.

After reading the reviews here I decided to buy the #4 which got so many raves. It is as others commented a really nice colour!
Its a neutral pink which is almost the same colour as my actual lips and I have quite a lot of colour in my lips.

Thank you makeupalley users for letting me know about this. I am hopeless at finding natural colours that work with me because usually I find they are too pale or brown. This is really nice and a good texture.

I also bought the# 24 colour which is a very hot pink. Not a good colour on me as it really wears me rather than me wearing it but I will pass it on to a friend or someone it suits better. So sad that this line is discontinued. It really suits me.

The lipstick has been discontinued, but I found some on ebay and fell in love it. The lipstick is moist, non drying and has great staying power. You cannot go wrong with this brand.

I would buy again if this range were not discontinued! The lipsticks come in such chic packaging. The texture is superb, creamy and sheer, only dries slightly after a few hours of use - I'd recommend a finishing gloss to retain moisture.

I have tried several of his lipsticks with my favorites being #1,#4,15,34! They are incredibly creamy, pigmented and last for ages... I think the best lipsticks I've ever tried, no disgusting smells! The tube is gorgeous, designed with his famous innovative images...

I 100% agree with the poster below that #4 exactly looks like the lipstick in Mr. and Mrs. Smith movie. This is so sexy and pretty, probably the best lipstick I have used. The texture is similar to Chantecaille lipstick but better.

The great reviews here lead me to buy and try this lipstick...figured it wouldn't hurt and the packaging looks cute. So I bought #4 and tried it on. I felt it was unique because it goes on smooth and the color has a really natural look on lips and is moisturizing which is great cause my lips feel dry throughout the day. It has more of a pinkish color in it, but not an icky pink. Also as I was watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith at the movie theatre yesterday, I noticed that #4 is very similar to the lip color of Angelina Jolie's lip color in the movie!...and you can't miss those lips right? Really great product and fashionable!!

I have #15 Dark Nude which is a nice neutral "mauve-ish" deep beige. It's literally my lipcolor (I have a lot of color in my lips, but not a lot of red). #4, described at barneys.com as a "Brick" is really a nice neutral soft rose...gives me a touch of clear color. #35 or "Cappuccino" is not like any kind of latte. It's more like a medium creamy terracotta. Pretty, but nothing special. I love the formula though! Smooth texture, no wierd lipstick smell or taste, doesn't get gummy or cakey. Lovely packaging. I use this with lipliner #4 Nude or #5 Raisin which compliment them very well. Must have lip product.

Wow! Love the texture of Stephane Marais Lipsticks! I, too, was a Armani fan before I tried this, but I agree with many of the others below, I must say that the Marais lipsticks are better! Yipes! :P This review is for the regular lipstick #35. On my pigmented lips and against my MMM yellow undertoned skin, this is a warm peachy nude color. It is very creamy and does not dry my lips out at all! Fabulous pigment, too! It retails for #22 and is housed in a chic art deco-ish design. Love it! I want them all now! :P

I have both #15 (mauvey pink) and #16 (darker version of #15) and love them both. The texture is superb - smooth and glides on easily with a sheer glossy finish. It doesn't have the coarse texture that you sometimes get with glittery lipsticks. I think this is better than the Armani sheer lipstick in terms of texture and finish. Unfortunately the colour selection is limited. I would definitely repurchase if I ever use them up. AUD 40.

I can buy Stephane Marais products in a town nearby, but - don't know why - I never had a closer look to his lipsticks. I was looking for another review, saw the raves here and decided to try them: I LOVE them. I have now 3 (#4,5,16) and they are perfect. The colours are very flattering, the texture is like a dream and you can wear them as a stain or intense. I have a lot of lipsticks (Armani, MAC, Bobbi and so on and on), but these are my favourites. If you have the chance: try them!

I had read and heard rave after rave for the lipstick in #4. It sounded perfect for me. A YLBB color with more pink than brown. Well I ordered from Barneys right away. I am in love with this lipstick. It is perfect for me. It has just enough pink in it that it looks good on my fair skin. The texture of this lipstick is wonderful. Smooth, creamy, and somewhat sheer. The tube itself is beautiful and fun. A lipstick you will want to carry around in your purse. This lipstick is well worth the money. I LOVE IT.

$22. I started out with the sheer lipsticks ($25) and was so hooked I completely overlooked the regular formula. Shame on me!
The color I have right now is #5, a deeper rosier version of the popular #4. It has the creamiest texture, is ultra smooth on application, and feels so light on the lips, never gunky! I feel like I am pampering my lips, not covering them up. Lasting power is decent, and seems to moisturize my lips. The finish is a lovely gloss, so pretty! No shimmer in the #5, that I can detect. There is a slight chemical taste, more pronounced than in the sheer formula, but it disappears quite quickly.
I love the packaging of the regular line. The red tube with the black art-decorated cap is just so cute! There are several different designs, so it's possible to sort of differentiate your colors, if they happen to have different art on their caps. (Not so for the sheer collection)
My head is turned... Stephane Marais, you are the Lipstick Deity!
I'd also like to add that I've been using Armani lipsticks exclusively for the past 2.5 years, and just can't go back! They are my second favorite. Chanel, K. Aucoin, Guerlain, and even Cle de Peau aren't near as nice IMHO, though some of them have some very nice packaging.
EDIT- 11/5/04- Ah, I've gotten to test even more of the regular line, and here's what I have found-- I found ONE color that wasn't as smooth and creamy as the rest-- #28, which is beautiful, and a bit more frosty than the others. I wonder if that made a huge difference? Anyhow, I find that Marais makes wonderful lipsticks if you want a creamy finish, a glossy finish, or a semi-shimmery finish. And of course, his sheers are wonderful!! He still needs to come out with more colors, of course. And he doesn't have mattes or shimmers. SO--- I am shamefacedly apologizing to my Armani lipsticks (the Matte Sheers and the shimmery ones, and the ones with unique colors!) and acknowledging them for their unique and lovely character, and realize that though I love Marais and he's pretty much my favorite right now... he's not the only lipstick in my life! I still love you, Armani! ;-)

Although SM is discontinued, I still want to rave about his lipstick. No. 4 is my favorite color (rosy pink), #2 is lighter but still is a wearable color. #35 is more peachy but I don't like it and swapped away to someone who loves it. I am still collecting his valuable items.

Product Description: This fresh lipstick gives true, clean color in just one coat. At the same time, it helps maintain lips' natural moisture balance, protecting against dryness and UV rays.

Price: AUD $40

I bought #5,a shimmery pinky-red (less shimmery compared to armani mania) that goes on like silk, feels weightless, is non sticky and just plain umbelievably good! much better than my armani lipsticks! there is no smell but i do detact a slight chemical taste. will be starting a collection of stephane marais lipsticks!

I have three of these lipsticks. I have sheer# 2 which is a very pale glossy reddish gold shade. Not much oomph, but feels good on the lips,#4 which is pretty much as the other reviewers described, quite nice. This review however is for #8 which is a soft red shade. The MUA recommended it to me even though she is in New York and I am in California. I am warm toned and pale with brown hair and eyes and for whatever reason this lipstick is beautiful. I highly recommend it. Feels very sheer on the lips, though I don't believe its considered a sheer. Just the right amount of color not too bright or in your face red. Love it!

Wow, I never thought I'd find a lipstick that rivals my favourite brand Armani! The SM l/s feels weightless, is very pigmented but shiny. You can apply it sheerly or layer it for a more intense look. It's scent- and taste-free and it lasts and lasts on my lips. I got #4 which is a rose-pink/blush shade, it has definitely more pink than brown tones. It's a nice every-day colour, but nothing spectacular.

The packaging is red metal with a plastic top that shows some random pics. You may have to get used to the packaging of SM products, it doesn't look classy, but I think that's the whole point! It's fresh and new and unlike anything else on the market which makes it stand out. This lipstick retails for Euro 19 in Germany.

#35 lipstick is a medium toned nude, similar to my HG Sue Devitt's Suva, a bit more intense than Suva minus the slight glimmer. This is a beigey/coral neutral nude, has no pink (pink *always* goes fuschia on me)...this would be perfect for all lovers of Suva & all those who can't really wear pink. This l/s is unburdened by fragrance, well pigmented & the formula is lightweight & moisturizing. The case is a delight: metallic red on the bottom half with a lacy black & grey design on the top. $22

Wow! I love the texture of this lipstick. It is soft, slightly glossy and moisturizing. It does not make my lips peel like some other brands do. There is no fragrance! I have number 4 (I think) - the neutral pink rose. It is a little blah for my pigmented lips. I am plotting my next order and another color.
