this is one of SMN's most exciting, daring, darling offerings: a melange of musk and dial soap!

It's the scent of a young buck fresh out of the shower after basketball practice. or of an athletic coed from the women's lacrosse team, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat washed away, leaving only blooms of youth, health, idealism, purity. One is tempted to snap at our young friends' derrieres with a towel, in jockular horseplay! Not suitable for every occasion perhaps but always very appealing, nonetheless. Schneewitchen has called it "the most sensual of the SMN fragrances" and she should know!

*update - there is a kind of harsh note that comes to the fore after awhile... bitter, that ... makes it difficult for me to be as enthusiastic as I once was, so I'm removing a lippie!* I still think for conception/madness alone it deserves 4.

(see also cumming and obsession for locker room accord derived fragrances)

ok, I have to say I am not a fan of SMN bottles cause they all look alike and it's very confusing. there are more times than I care to remember that I"m excitedly thinking "oh I want to put on a little more frangipane" but then reach for the opoponax instead,

addendum:

gold musk has patchouli in it as well

That peculiar sticking-plaster note, redolent of casualty departments (and I presume of emergency rooms in the USA) which ruins so many mens fragrances, is here presented in pure format. Awful.

An aldehydic rose musk more than a cozy skin scent (although with drydown, the aldehydes go away and the scent becomes considerably softer). It's very soapy and a bit sharp and masculine for my tastes, but the drydown is great and almost worth it. Decant-worthy at the very least.

Strong clen musky scent, it smells very soapy on my skin. Not worth the price.

After the first few minutes this is insanely SOAPY goodness. Super SOAPY to the max. Talk about smelling like you came fresh from the bath. It's soft enough to be feminine and soapy enough to be masculine. A perfect unisex fragrance. My only complaint is that in the first few minutes there is something strange and metallic underlying the whole thing. Within 15 minutes that goes away, the soap stands out and the musk takes over. Awesome!

Musk d'Oro is beautiful -- the softness and elegance of Lorenzo Villerosi's Musk without all the troubling baby powder and aldehyde notes. It's slightly soapy and clean, but has a warm second skin depth to it. The olfactory equivalence of the touch of suede.

Now this I like, at first I was terribly disappointed at the lacklustre, thin , cheap bubble bath ,soapiness but then after 30 minutes or so the , the lovely ,creamy sweet, almost vanila-ish note crept to the forefront. This isn't a carnal, 'cat on heat' musk , though I have to admit I sometimes like that kind of thing....but an innocent, fresh scent of newly bathed infants, you know that delicate aroma that very young children give off , when they've just been clothed but still damp from their evening bath. Not that I mean to say that it smells like Johnson & Johnson's crappy baby range, simply the aroma of beautifully clean, warm skin. My only issue with this is the price €70 , too much for a scent that has very poor longevity , but it is still nice .UPDATE: Actually this is quite a potent scent and I prefer Musk to be very subtle, when I use to ride around on a scooter in Spain I could literally smell the air being perfumed by my neck, leaving a trail behind me (if that makes senses) so I wonder if I have been splashing it on with casual abondon and intoxicating those around me. I still enjoy this fragrance, but I have to keep in mind that though it is a 'cologne' it has the tenacity/intensity of pure perfume , especially once it heats up on the skin.

Oh this is like a wonderful, triple milled European soap! It isn't traditionally musky on me just very clean and subtle. Don't know why they called it by the silly name, but this is a must try must have. It's not a cozy clean scent. It's sexy clean if that makes sense...

This is one of my faves by SMN (the other one is "Freesia"). I bought it some days ago in Florence, so, it reminds me Italy, with all its magical atmosphere.
"Muschio Oro" is an elegant rosy-musk and very soapy scent (perfect, if you're looking for "THE" soapy fragrance). It's clean and subtle - for soap scents lovers (like me :-) )! 4 lipsticks and 1/2.

I love musk fragrances, & I have to echo what the other reviewers stated about this--it is a more sophisticated musk scent. This is much fuller & more elegant, just much more than the standard everyday musk. It's lasts for a few hours on me, & I would have to reapply. If I had the $$$, I would buy a big bottle.

You know what this smells like? Avon's Sweet Honesty (rose/amber/musk). Didn't everyone have this as a young girl? The name gave me the false impression that this was a warm musk scent. I was wrong.

Thanks to the generosity of Kushka, queen of musk (and that's a good thing!) I was able to sample this. My, how this has opened my eyes. I always thought of any musk fragrance -- those in which the musk is prominent -- to be cheap drugstore scents worn by teenagers. WRONG. This is a subtle, sophisticated, almost aldehyde musk. It does have that perfume-y quality another reviewer mentioned... and it smells very grown-up, lady-like, and refined. I enjoyed it very much. It has an elegance I've never known before in a musk fragrance.

Gold musk (Muschio d'Oro) is a bright aldehydic fragrance, reminds me a lot of Chanel #5. I like it slightly better than #5 EDP, so it may be full bottle worthy.

To my nose this is a florally musk, not far off from many scents found at essential oil shops. If you really like musk, give it a go but it's more floral than most, and I think in a hard-to-describe, "perfumey" sort of way.

This is a blend of musk and ... rose? I like it! Layers nicely with other SMN florals.

Hmmmm, where's the musk in this one??? It's a nice enough scent but smells more like very strong soap than like a fragrance with musk notes. Not a keeper.
