A very nice, gentle yet effective deep cleanser. Does not assist with much clearing of moderate-and-beyond type acne, though does completely remove blackheads like nothing I have ever seen before. I have no sebum plugs on my nose and am so impressed. Best for use in the shower or during a bath as it works best with frequent emulsification over 20 minutes.

I had this product used on me in a facial and was given a sample to take home. I've since used it all and bought a bottle and am seriously in love with it. Contrary to what people think, this is not an exfoliator. My beautician advised me that it was an deep pore cleanser that can be used twice a week before exfoliation to extract impurities. I used it in the shower after cleansing and removing makeup, left it on for 10 minutes to let the steam activate it and then removed with wet facial chamois. Twice more I rubbed again with a little water on my fingers and wiped it off before exfoliating. This product is amazingly gentle and my skin looks and feels amazing. The price is a bit steep but that said, the amount you need to use and the effectiveness of the product more than compensates for the price compared with cheaper alternatives. I've taken one lippie off simply because it is a little time consuming but definitely worth th results. Love Love Love.

I am an esthetician and hands down this is one of the best, most effective products you can buy to help purge pores.

Apply to damp face and then get in the shower, let the steam help it work. Add just a tiny bit of water every few minutes while you do your shower thang. For best results, leave on for 15 minutes.

Combine this with the Clarisonic for amazing results.

I got a sample with this. Was using it wrongly at first as a cleanser but realised that my bumps are getting less.
Started using it correctly now. Wow... The bumps are all coming out so easily. I am so impressed.
I have eczema skin and this doesn't irritate at all. I love it. Will purchase!!

Two words: miracle product. I have a constant battle with blackheads on my nose. I'd had this product in my cabinet for a while, and decided to give it a try. I applied a small pea-sized amount to my nose in the shower, massaged it a bit, let it sit while I shaved my legs etc. (probably 10-15 minutes), then massaged and rinsed. All I can say is WOW. All of my blackheads were completely gone. All of them. My nose has not been this clear in years. I've never had a product do this for me. Yes it is pricey, but you need such a ridiculously tiny amount that the tube should last quite a while. I consider this a miracle HG product and will definitely repurchase.

This products is expensive, but totally worth it. My skin never looked better. The trick is to use it correctly. Emulsify the product with a bit of water as you shower. Let it do its magic for at least a few minutes and rinse off. I use it a few times a week and alternate with phytomer gommage. Both products together make my skin soft and clean.

My facialist recommended this product to me at the beginning of the year. She said to cleanse, exfoliate then use this before a mask. It makes blackheads so easy to remove and makes your skin feel clean (but not squeaky and tight like others do)
I didn't think to leave it in for 20 minutes...will do that next time!
Definitely a HG for me!

Its a mild exfoliant which can be used everyday without drying or damaging the skin. Skin feels smoother and a little bright after use. However, can find other more effective exfoliant and a much cheaper price. Will not repurchase

I was skeptical at first, like how can you feel the difference of a cleanser going into your pores to clear things out? But you can...! It just feels lights afterwards. I use this prior to any mask that I use to get the full penetrating benefits and it has worked very well.

I used Dermalogica Microfoliant for ages before this, and, while it was OK, it tended to irritate my super sensitive skin.

My beautician reccommended Desquacrem as a step in helping eliminate my blackhead ridden nose. Well, it is THE ONLY thing that ever worked, this stuff is amazing. It seems expensive, but considering that only the smallest, half a pea size is needed, it is not expensive at all, it will easily last a full year.

THE SECRET is to use it in the shower, gently massage in and leave it on your blocked areas while doing other things (shaving, washing your hair, etc.), so to allow the cream to work with the hot steam.
I apply it all over my trouble areas, massage gently, leave for about 10 minutes, and then massage again for a couple of minutes all the way into my pores, until I feel it has almost completely dissolved. My cheeks are very sensitive, so I only massage into them for a minute or so (however, this stuff does not irritate me at all).
Then I gently remove it (still under the shower) with the face wash soaked with warm water.
I do this twice a week approx. and my sking GLOWS. I had so many people commenting how good my skin looks and how clear, and this is someone who had T zone full of blackheads for the last 25 years. I don't even go to the beautician any more (can't really afford it at the moment), and my skin looks like I am having regular treatments.

I also use Sothys sensitive skin milk cleanser (I have a toner, too, but I don't use it due to laziness), and my skin has never looked better.
This stuff is so much better than any grainy exfoliant, much gentler, really works and lasts forever. Worth every penny!
P.S.
Sometimes, this product will bring impurities that are under skin onto the surface, eg. I ocassionally get a pimple after using this (just like one does after a visit to the facialist).
This is not a breakout, though, it is one pimple coming out from the deep blackhead, and it passes very quickly, with my skin looking better than ever after that.

LOVE this product! My mom was a beautician before and this is used as something to dilate the pores before steaming during facials. It is so easy to remove blackheads and whiteheads once you rub this on for about 20 mins. (Yes 20! Longer than 10 mins is better.) you wash your face with regular cleanser and put some of this on, leave it for a few minutes and massage it on your skin, adding a bit of water everytime it dries, after about 20 minutes there would probably be none left. It leaves the skin feeling nice without irritated or tight. Wish it wasn't so expensive here though.

Was recommend this by my facialist and I love it. Definitely leaves you glowy and smooth, without the abrasiveness of scrubs. I've been using it off and on for the past few years and this is definitely the best exfoliator I've found.

I can't get over the awful smell of this product - it's so bad I really can't even use it. It has a strong, fake perfume smell. It makes me sick to my stomach. I can't really give it a fair review in terms of its effectiveness, because the smell is so bothersome.

I've been using this for about 6 weeks - 2 x week and so far I love it! I have oily skin with large pores and get those monthly hormonal cyst-zits and this product is keeping me bump free and fresh looking! Have been using this for a year and a half. The best deep cleanser for my oily/combo skin. It's easy to use best in the shower just spread a dime size on face, massage in like u would do a scrub, leave for 2 minutes and rinse. Brings out the gunk and leaves face with radiant glow. Worth the price bought on ebay for AUD35.Will last for more than a year if use 2-3 times a week. HG for deep cleansing.

I've used this product on and off forever. I guess that means I really like it :)
Everyone seems to have their own method of using the product; here's mine:
Apply to clean, dry face.
Wet hands and use circular motions on face.
Wet cleansing cloth or sponge. Apply in circular motions to face.
Keep repeating until all the product is removed.
I'm not sure if it is the mini ciculation facial that I perform with this method or the actual product, but it does seem to keep my face looking good and helps bring impurities to the surface. I like to follow with either a clay mask or enzyme mask. I have combo sensitive skin.

I've been using Desquacrem for more than a year now, and am onto my second tube. It DOES work for my combination, incredibly oily t-zone skin, and my pores do look reduced after using it. The problem is you've got to use it almost everyday for oily skins, as my beautician advised, and sometimes I forget! But I would continue to use this for as long as possible! It's not a cleanser, I use it AFTER my cleanser, or after exfoliation with Dermalogica's Daily Microexfoliant, and it works! My skin is very smooth, and less ruddy.

Active ingredients to clear and tone your skin will keep it free of impurities and give you a radiant complexion.
The other reviewers have pretty much said what I'm going to say. It's IMPERATIVE to follow the instructions given by your facialist. You only use it in the shower. Apply just a dime sized amount, lather it up, leave it for 5 minutes and then rinse it off. This really makes your skin glow. And twice a week is all you need. THIS IS NOT A DAILY CLEANSER, and I think that's why people have written bad reviews: they are using this product in the wrong way. Yes, this stuff is very expensive. But it's worth it IMO. My sensitive skin loves Sothys products.
