I've been using Stila Cassis eye shadow on and off, and today I decided to put it away for good. Not only does it go on splotchy, but the fall-out is unbelievable, all the way down my cheeks. It's a pretty color and if it worked, it would do well on my brownish/hazel eyes, but the fallout is the biggest turnoff. I'm keeping the Kitten which I bought at the same time to use under my brows.

I got my first Stila eyeshadows today via swap, and I have to say that what they look like in person vs. seeing photos of them online, there is zero comparison! The Cassis......I was pretty hesitant to select it but thought what the heck, I can use it as eyeliner if it's too bright.
Bright?!?! No! Gorgeous, deep, amazing, YES! I am pasty white and like another reviewer mentioned, purple tends to make me look bruised. This went on so softly and smoothly, no fallout anywhere, and it stayed true all day. It looked so pretty on my hazel eyes! I just couldn't believe how pretty this shadow was when it was on.
Love it!

One of my favourite contouring shades -- an absolute HG. It's a gorgeous purple that tends toward blue, so it doesn't make the eye area look reddish. (This is a problem I have with most purpley eyeshadows.) I can apply several layers for a dramatic evening look, but I can also blend a light layer into the crease of my eye for a subtle hint of shadow. Really, really love it and would rebuy many times.

I just got my very first Stila shadow in the mail today via a MUA swap. I LOVE dark, shimmery, purples. Wasn't 'totally' sure what to expect even despite the reviews I'd read, but from the swatches I've done on my fingers so far, I'm very happy with it.:)
First of all, the Stila shadows are MUCH larger than MAC's shadows. These are nearly (if not) two times larger around, which I love.:D
The "Cassis" shadow is a very lovely dark shimmery purple with a slight blue cast, and very small pink sparkles to it. I can't wait to wear this tonight!!:D
-The texture is wonderful. Very smooth and creamy vs. most of MAC's shadows which seem very hard and sometimes dusty. The pigmentation/color-payoff is fantastic. Very opaque with just one swipe.
I don't see myself running out of this any time soon just due to the size of the pan, but if I did, I'd definitely get at least one more if not a back-up, too.:D
I think this may be the beginning of a blooming interest in Stila shadows.:)
Update with photos!!
Here is my pan of Stila "Cassis" in a trio with two other Stila shadows:
And here I'm wearing "Cassis" in my crease over top of the two light purple shadows shown in the photo above:

I saw an eye makeup video on youtube and the girl was using this has an eyeliner, my first thoughts were I'm not using an eyeshadow for an eyeliner because in the the past when I tried this it just didn't look right. I am glad I bought this color, it is so pretty as an eyeliner and also in the crease. This is a dark royal purple with blue in it (no red) it makes the green/yellow in my brown eyes pop. This is such a nice alternative to black and dark brown. I bought this in Oct 2008 and it still have 80% left. Once I run out, I will definitely repurchase.

This is a beautiful dark (blue) purple, with only a little bit of shimmer.
I use it mainly as liner, dry or wet.
But it can alse be used as an outer v color with a pink e/s in the lid. Or
as a lid color, since it can be very sheer when applied with a fluffy
brush.
The texture of this shadow is good, but not as good as the texture of some other Stila shadows I own. Maybe because it is not so shimmery? If I wear it on my lids it creases, something that doesn´t happen when I wear other Stila e/s.
Which is nice about Stila e/s is that they are 2,6 grams - so it will last
a long time.

Cassis is a slightly shimmery royal purple. I usually wear this smudged on the outer-v with cloud on the lid and diamond lil in the crease, and moonlight on the brow and it looks amazing! It's gives me an incredibly sexy smokey eye that makes my small, deep-set blue eyes pop! My only gripe is that the color goes on really splotchy.

Cassis is a richly pigmented deep purple with a hint of shimmer. Best used as a liner (today I'm wearing it with Key) as it's so pigmented, or lightly in the crease and smudged under the lower lash line for a smoky look.
It's fairly close to Dahlia and Amethyst when it's on.

I'm generally not a huge fan of Stila e/s (they tend to fade on me) but this shade is very special...gorgeous subtle, almost neutral smokiness. Easy to blend and goes with so many shades - just the easiest purple to wear. Would definitely repurchase.

I bought this as a Christmas present to myself, along with Slate, to go into the quad palette with Cloud and Diamond Lil.
As others have observed, Cassis is a *very* dark purple/wine, with a nice amount of shimmer. Cassis is so dark that I expect to use it mostly as an accent color. Though Cassis is a very pretty color, and compliments my green eyes beautifully, it is generously pigmented and could easily give an NW15 woman like me that dreaded bruised look.
I give Cassis a 4 instead of a 5 solely because its darkness makes it a rather tricky color. It has a lovely smooth texture, like all of the Stila shadows I've tried so far, so in terms of quality, Cassis is a solid 5. I think it'll look great with grays like Slate, and silvers. Given the large amount of product in the pan, I'll probably never need to re-purchase, but I would do so happily if necessary.

I'm not very brave when it comes to color, but I was getting bored of black and brown. I heard purple looks good with brown eyes, so I decided to give that a shot. Cassis is a VERY rich, deep cool purple, so be careful! I use minimal amounts as a liner, with some lightly feathered on the lids. It looks quite pretty and does bring out my eyes. I have oily eyelids, but thanks to the other reviewers, I've found Urban Decay Primer Potion works very well for this.
I've read a few complaints about the cheap cardboard packaging - the packaging is only temporary, as you're really supposed to get their single pan or quad pan compacts. The compacts are aluminum and are very durable, not to mention they're magnetic so you can pop empty colors out or interchange colors in the quad for traveling. Scrap that flimsy, clunky cardboard!

Great deep purple shadow for a smokey eye look. It glides on very smooth, similar to Lancome's Color Design. IMO, it's a duplicate for Lancome's No Mistakes from a few years back. I pair it with Lancome's Color Design Trendy for a very dramatic smokey eye look.

love this eyeshadow. i havent tried any other shades from the stila range so i cant really compare, but i adore this product.
i have medium toned skin, blue/grey eyes and blonde hair, and so i have been looking for a nice deep purple shade to bring out the blue in my eyes. if u have a similar complexion, hands down - no better way to make eyes stand out than a purple shade such as this.
in my search, i have looked at some mac and nars shades, and although both have a variety of purples, this was deffinately a winner. i love the deepness of it,the shimmer and the fact that it is a subtle purple.
i have had mine for about 5 months now, and the pot still looks like new, due to the high pigment in the product.
i mainly use mine as a liner, over a normal black pencil eyeliner, paired with the Nars duo - Habanera (inludes a sparkly plum/brown shade, which is great for blending in cassis around the lid, and a lovely minty shimmery shade which is also great applied to the inner corner). All together they make a brilliant party look. Ive also used it with Pink Dust or Goldbit by Mac, used as an overall wash and Cassis as a liner. All of these go together beautifully.
if you're after a nice smokey eye with a hint of purple, look no further

The first time I tried this eyeshadow, I looked like I'd been in a barfight, it seriously looked just like a bruise. I meant to take it back, but never got around it which I am thankful for now. After awhile, I ran across it in my stash and decided to try other ways to use it. I found out that it makes a great liner when used wet and is a pretty crease as well. It can be used for a smoky eye as well, but apply lightly with a good blending brush to avoid the bruise look. (NW20/20 Watts, blue-green eyes, cool toned)

This is a deep blue-purple with shimmer that I use as a liner to bring out the green in my eyes. It looks great as a liner - looks black from a distance, but if you get up really close you can just detect a bit of violet. I have never tried it as a lid color, but I imagine it would only look OK applied sheerly as a smokey eye for night.

What a gorgeous colour - a jewel-like deep purple, shimmery, with blue rather than red tones. Great for a smoky eye with a twist, and really does bring out the greeny bits in my hazel brown eyes. I use this all over the lid, and as a liner underneath, with LM Black Violet khol on the inner rim, and it's a good look, yet takes minutes to apply. Although I have warm colouring, this actually looks better on me than warm purples, which tend to make me look like I've done a round with Mike Tyson. Or a big bottle of vodka.

Cassis is a rich, velvety royal purple that looks great as a liner used wet. I like to blend it in with a smokey eye or use it in the crease. It actually works well as a liner used both wet and dry for different looks. This color seems to make my gray blue eyes look green especially when paired with MAC's Swish on the lid and Yogurt on the brow as a base. I've been looking for the perfect purple and this is it.

Cassis is a deep dark shimmery metallic blackened plum. Very pretty and super pigmented too. Pro pans retail for $14 and the individual shadows come housed in cardboard silver containers and retail for $16.

I've used Cassis as a liner (fair skin with grey/green eyes) and ditto below (though on me, no red at all - it's a very cool-toned purple). It's so dark I never thought of it as an all-over. I have about 25 Stila e/s and have yet to find a good purple lid color. I used it the other day and to my surprise found that it goes on really sheer as an all-over color. I used it with a light lavender/white/pink color (I don't know what it is, sorry) but found with a light base, Cassis makes a really pretty purple lid color. Anyway, no matter how you use it, it's a gorgeous cool-toned purple. Happy I tried it that way as I find Stila doesn't have great purples (most are plummy and don't work with my skin tone). Great color.

Like most Stila shadows, Cassis goes on smoothly, lasts all day without creasing (when used w/primer), and blends well. Cassis is a deep, cool-toned, blue-based purple and would be wonderful for a smoky look. It is shimmery but not over the top---you can wear this shade during the day. Although this is a beautiful shade, warm-toned women may want to think twice about buying this shade; I am a warm-toned MMM/GGG with green eyes and this was way too cool-toned for me and clashed horribly with my skin tone. Also, if you're new to Stila, you should know that the packaging is not very durable. Be especially careful that the 'case' (cardboard, actually) does not touch a lot of water (splashes from the sink, etc.).
