As a PPP I was a little wary of this one, but it was chosen for me by the associate when I asked her to pick the best colour they have for me.

Truthfully it somewhat resembles YSL Opium Red, of which I was also afraid.

But this red lights up my face like nobody's business. It is astonishing... just gorgeous.

It is not true that my lips enter the room before I do. Perhaps because I have dark hair and very pale skin, having red lips is striking but not obnoxious.

Since purchasing these slightly warmer reds (usually I go for quite cool ones, or vampy ones, like Clinique Red Drama, Chanel Lune Rousse, Perscriptives Intriguing) I've opened my mind to the possibilities of a lighter, brighter face. The feedback has been good.

And these shades (this and Opium Red) make me feel like a million bucks!

I wear very minimal eye makeup, full coverage foundation and barely there blush when I go this bright in the lips. Looks great with white or black shirts.

Don't be intimidated by the PPP naysayers-- OF COURSE you can make this work. As the Armani associate said to me: "It's about courage."

This looked terribly bright in the tube. If the SA at Bloomies Soho hadn't forced me to try this on, I would have missed out forever. It's a gorgeous, glamourous yet buildable, non-OTT red, great for a daytime red lip, add gloss and you're ready for night. It's not really shiny, in fact, it's like a silky matte. If I want to feel like a Hollywood starlet or like a Jewish Billie Holliday, I wear this. Superpigmented and soft, this is only slightly drying after a few hours...also stains the lips a bit because it's so pigmented. If I have an HG retro red, this is it. NC35-37. (Works well with MAC Brick l/l and Chanel Nude blush).

Choosing and evaluating a red lipstick can be much more loaded than buying any other color because, well, it's red. After all, red lipsticks are associated with bombshells like Rita Hayworth and to wear red lipstick is an act of beauty aggression. All this lipstick baggage is why finding a new wonderful red lipstick like Armani Shine #8 is something to celebrate. I'm a PPP with auburn hair and hazel eyes and love this color and love the Armani brilliant shine formulation. This is a true red. Not brown, not coral, not rosy, not blue. A clear, bold Valentino red. Armani shine lipsticks apply not opague yet not sheer, which lessens the "all you see is lips" effect that some reds give but it doesn't make it less red. It has more staying power than a sheer and it can be applied either as a stain with your fingers or direct from the tube with an assist of a matching liner (MAC makes one called cherry that works). I wouldn't wear shine #8 every day but it's perfect for whenever I'm wearing head to toe black.

i usually don't wear red. at all. not on lips , not in accesories, not in clothes.

i tried this on a day where i was tanned and had on no makeup. wow. a beautiful pop of warm (yes) glowing movie star red. very similar to chantecaille cranberry but nicer texture.

big hoop earrings and a my hair in a braid . one swoop on the lips and i was transformed to sultry latin movie star

As kealoha said, this is a 1940's, screen siren red. I can't wear it, as it's way too bright on my PPP skin. This is a true neutral red that looks candy apple red in the tube. If your lips have any blue (which mine do), and you use this ONLY as a stain, the blue in this color will come out, but who wants to waste a lipstick doing that? You can dial it back a bit by adding any gloss that has gold shimmer in it (Guerlain's Terracotta in Icy Gold, GA Lip Shimmer #20). I think this color would look pretty on warmer and darker skintones, but I don't even think a lovely PPP like Rose McGowan could pull this one off! There's not enough brown, or not enough blue. Fantastic texture as always, though :)

Yes, this is a no-holds-barred dead-on red. But, as others have described, it can be played down. However, I got it for those times when I really want full-on glamorous red. It's not dragon-lady red, just a perfect neutral bright red. By neutral I mean I don't find it solely blue-based, but right in the middle between blue based and orange-based. One thing I do if I want to tone it down is put NARS Zanzibar sheer lipstick underneath it. It browns down the color just a tad and takes the edge off for day, while still making a statement. As others have said the other way to go is to apply with a brush and blot to get a pretty red stain. The shine and texture are fantastic, as is the packaging. Not for the shy, for sure.

Big fan of Armani cosmetics, but this is absolutely the wrong color on me. I'm sure it can work on some people, but on me the fire red is not attractive. No matter how much I tried to make this work, it was way loud on my lips. I tried a tiny little dab and put gloss on it and it still looked soooo red. I just can't pull it off. I bought it hoping it would be a neutral red, but it's even brighter than I hoped on my lips. GA has so many other pretty lipsticks that I will not attempt to buy this one again. This is hard to work with in this color. I love the packaging for these, just not this color. So much for stepping out of my comfort zone with a little red lipstick, something I've never liked. This has more to do with my dislike of bright red lipstick than the product itself.

Applied very lightly with a lip brush I found this color leaves the perfect popsicle red lip stain. I do not like to wear lip colors that arrive before I've entered the room. This lipstick would appear that way if I didn't apply it lightly and with a lip brush. Because it takes only one dab to color my whole lips this lipstick will be very economical as well as beautiful.
