my last tube of this is almost gone and i still have yet to find a replacement that is just as good. this mascara was super dark, and if i wore it on my bottom lashes i didn't even have to wear eyeliner. thick, didn't clump, only had to use one coat. i will miss this. :(

Oh my dearest HG mascara, I shall never forget thee. A generously sized, gorgeous silver tube with an equally generous brush. And simply the best formula I've encountered. And I could name it whatever I wanted it to be. My last tube I named "Abstract". I still use the brush for my brows even though the mascara itself is long gone. *Sigh*, oh well. Time to find it's replacement...

I love love love this product I use it everday. Since you get to choose what is in it you cannot go wrong. If I was able to buy more from reflect.com I would in a heartbeat. Why did this company go under? Why weren't more people open to buying there products. They were a little expensive but it was totally worth it.

I too had a $15 off coupon for Reflect.com (type in "coupons for reflect.com" in any search engine and you'll find it). I've been searching for my HG mascara for years and years and...I think I've actually finally found it!! When you go to their website and select "mascara", the site directs you through a series of questions about what you want in a mascara. I wanted non-waterproof, dramatic look, lengthening, curved brush. Once the coupon was applied, I think my credit card was charged like $5.45 (regular price is $16.50 I believe). I received it in the mail within 5 days. It comes in a very high-end looking silver metal tube. It does not clump AT ALL, never flaked, and it lengthened and separated my lashes so that it looked like I had false eyelashes on (this is a good thing for me!). It washed off easily with my remover. Their customer service is first-rate. I had a question while I was ordering and they have on-line chat with a rep that was quick and easy. One of the best things about this is that they'll refund your money if you're not satisfied and they'll reformulate your choice at no extra charge AND let you keep what they already sent you until they get it right (no sending anything back to them). I will update this review if the tube dries out or it turns on me, but I am praying that this is my HG because I'm tired of looking and really, really love how this makes my lashes look! **Update: I did like this, but it dried out way too quickly for a $16 mascara. I have since used L'Oreal Lash Out which is much cheaper and does a wonderful job of lengthening and has staying power. Even if that dried out quickly, it's price is more reasonable. Still would recommend the Reflect though...it's good, just doesn't perform consistently enough for the price.

soooo I was online, chatting and browsing when this one popup came on my screen... "customize your own makeup at reflect.com!" sounded fun so I thought I'd give it a try. The "customization" process where you just select your eye type and hair color etc. was fun and then when I bought the mascara I "created" (for $16.50 plus $3.95 SH WHATEVE)I applied this $15 off coupon. Hmmmm so its only approx $5.50. As I like to say, "pretty very good!" Drugstore pricing for a FABULOUS mascara. This mascara worked for my straight stupid lashes by making them super long, curl, and nicely pop out with the color. Some other pluses are that it doesn't smudge, flake, or clump! YAY! Incase you wanted to know, I selected Blue mascara w/ a curved brush, a "trendy" attitude toward makeup and I wanted "image 3"... you'll see! I totally recommend this stuff, my formulation goes on so smoothly and make my lashes look really longer and they aren't brittle--just curled, lengthened, and BLUE :D You can say application is like Clinque Naturally Glossy, but the results are dramatic :). Some pretty good stuff and at only $5.50 on your credit card. Not bad!
----UPDATE: okay this stuff started clumping within 2 months.. oh well it was good while it lasted!

Very very nice packaging... and that's about all I can say about an otherwise normal product.

This product was fine, and comes in a very attractive case, which I wish I could reuse!! But the mascara inside is fairly standard-issue, and I found that mine dried out very quickly. Not worth the cost of repurchase, in my opinion.

I tried this product and the Shu Uemura mascara based on the reviews I read here. Out of the two products I really like the Reflect mascara the best. The pros: stays put - period I use the water-resistant one, goes on smooth, doesn't clump, and the aubergine color works well with my fair complexion. I wear contacts and tend to have oily skin so the fact that it stayed put really won me over. The cons: The wiper on this product needs to be improved. It has a tendency to bond with the brush top when you unscrew it - hence no wiper. It's rather messy to pry the wiper back out of the brush top! Also, this mascara has a firm expiration date! When it starts to get clumpy to apply, you know it is time to buy a new one! Mine usually have a lifespan of about 4 to 5 months per tube. I buy them when they are on special at Reflect.com and stockpile. It really helps keep the $$$$ down.

This mascara is good, but it's not GREAT. The black, non-waterproof formula w/ the curved brush makes my lashes look natural and pretty. It doesn't flake off or smudge or irritate my eyes, and it separates nicely. But, I'd purchase it again only if I had another $15-off deal, like I did this time. Otherwise, I'll take my $15-$20 and find the PERFECT mascara!

The packaging is great, right down to the box in which it is shipped. That is probably the nicest thing I have to say about my mascara experience. Not that the mascara was horrible; it's tolerable as far as mascaras go, and since it was almost free with the $15 off coupon, I'm not distressed about having wasted money. It does not smudge or smear too badly once it's dry (I requested a waterproof formula) and comes off perhaps easier than it should, considering that is supposedly waterproof. Nevertheless, it doesn't do much for my lashes. It does hold a curl, but I'm used to wearing one coat of my favorite mascara (the very good but discontinued Volume +++ by Agnes B. at CCB-Paris) and even 2 coats of this didn't compare. I'm also somewhat disturbed that they didn't send me black mascara. What I got is something like dark brown or off-black. Since I'm African-American, I can wear super black mascara and it looks natural. Since this came up in my profile, I have no idea why they wouldn't think to offer me black - it wasn't even a color option. Maybe I went wrong when I said I prefer my makeup to look natural. Apparently natural means looking like I just rolled out of bed. I actually want to look a little better than that. :) I wouldn't pay full price for the formula I got. Drugstore brands are just as good if not better.

Overall negative experience with this mascara. I had purchased from reflect.com before and decided one day to try their mascara. Well- ick. I got the tube and it clumped like no tomorrow. So I emailed them about it. They told me a lot of people don't know but that if you pump the mascara wand in the tube then air goes in, causing the mascara to harden and clump. I told them I *knew* that (duh!) and that I only opened it twice and did not pump the wand, that it came like that. Then they said perhaps it wasn't fully closed. Grrr, admit the mistake, the formula sucked!!! Seriously! Anyways, long while later I rec'd the reformulation in the mail and it was alright. Still, was nothing great for $17 and I only used it a few times. Would *never* buy again, too much a waste of time. Though I'm glad to see other MUA-ers had good results with this, of course, it's highly individual as each person "creates" their own mascara =)

Reflect.com was offering a special on Mascara so I had to give it a try. I wear contacts and rub my eyes alot (I know, not a good thing to do), so I went with the waterproof mascara. I was impressed. The mascara was not clumpy and never rubbed off. I would highly recommend this mascara.

I like this mascara. I used the free gift certificate at the web site. It does make my lashes thicker and longer. I think I could get a drugstore brand for less money that I like just as much.

I got the waterproof version of this and I did like it's staying power. It did smudge some by the end of the day but I've yet to find mascara that doesn't. The applicator and the whole thing itself is just too big though. It makes it tough to apply and doesn't travel well.

I orignally gave this mascara a good review but after using it for a few weeks, it dried out and started to crumble whenever I applied it. A big waste of money, even with the 15$ off coupon. I still spent 6$ on some useless mascara that I have to throw away.

This, and Max Factor 2000 Calorie, are my favorite mascaras. A little less thick (and therefore, less likely to clump than MF 2000), it's still buildable to perfectly luscious lashes. Plus reflect.com's customer service is great as well, and will re-custom if you're not perfectly satisfied, or else your money will be refunded and you will get to keep the product. What more could you ask for?

I have tried everything there is out there from drug store to department store and I have found THE "H.G.". This does everything it says it does and more. It lengthens, thickens and SEPARATES like nothing else out there. It isn't even necessary to use an eyelash curler or comb. Eyelashes are not something you would think you normally get complimented on, especially by strangers but BELIEVE IT...this stuff can give ANYONE drama. I am DONE looking.
p.s. - its a lot of fun to design your own product, packaging and name. Its so cool if anyone asks you what it is (which they WILL) and you just casually say, "oh, I had it made." too cool

Overall, this was a great mascara. I just think I could get about the same in drugstore brands. I won't buy it again, mostly because of the price. If it was $5 in a drugstore, I'd pick it up again, so if you are a regular Reflect.com person and get an offer to try the mascara, go for it, you'll be glad you did.

This is a OK product, the applicator is too big its hard to put it on if you don't have a lot of lashes. It does sep your lashes and the staying power is not bad. I can find the same result when i'm using maybelline express and its cheaper too.
