I use two lip balms, one during the day (Burt's Bees Medicated Lip Balm) and this one before I go to bed. It has no petroleum in it, with is great for me! I use it at night because it's quite... thick and waxy feeling on the lips, like you can really feel it on your lips constantly. I'm doing a lousy job explaining this but the best I can come up with is that it doesn't feel as natural as most lip balms (or at least my Burt's Bees one) does. When I wake up in the morning I can STILL feel it on my lips and they are very moisturized. It does have an orange-y, citrus-y smell, but I don't consider it a strong scent and it doesn't linger on my lips. My Grandma brought me this, but I've seen some reviews saying it was about 5 dollars a tube, which is a bit expensive, but since I only use it once before bed, for me, it lasts a long time. All in all, I personally don't mind the price, but for daily use, yes, I think it's expensive, and if I can sleep all night and wake up with it still on my lips, my best guess is that you won't need to reapply much, and it does feel quite waxy, almost like it DID have petroleum (but doesn't!), faint, yet pleasant smell that doesn't linger on my lips for long and finally, suuuuuper moisturizing, so if you are into that then I suppose it's the product for you.

Abit expensive but its the only brand that has ever kept up with how severely dry my lips can get...I mean like actually ripping and peeling to the point of bleeding and well...this product cured that issue. Ever since I finished my first tube of this I've never had my original issue and would consider this lip balm one of my HG items. Texture wise I feel its more oily than waxy which I prefer and as an added bonus it makes my lipstick last longer.

This is the most expensive lip balm that I've ever purchased, at $4.99 a tube. It has a smooth texture. I didn't experience the granular/gritty feeling that others had. It's more on the waxy side than oily, but is extremely moisturizing.
I will not be repurchasing due to price. Any petrolatum-free brand, such as Chap-Ice, has a similar result for a lower price.

I can't understand why more people wouldn't buy this product again! It's pretty much the best lip balm I've ever used. It has a very orange-y scent, just like fresh orange zest, which I like. It goes on smoothly with none of that weird grittiness of some other balms and it doesn't feel sticky or oily.
Many other lip balms make my lips feel pleasantly moisturised, but this balm actually makes my lips feel softer and smoother even after the product isn't on my lips anymore. I love this lip balm because it does what so many others don't do, and as a vegan, I really value the fact that the balm is also cruelty-free, as well as being made of high quality natural ingredients.

I'm a big fan of Avalon Organics Vitamin C line, and had high hopes for this lip balm. I like that it's larger (thicker) than a typical chapstick because I have big lips and the larger surface area ensures quicker application. It has a citrus-y, licorice-y scent - I wish it were more citrus-y, but this is a small quibble. Overall, I find that it's moisturizing and unlike some natural lip balms (Alba Botanicals, for example), it doesn't feel gritty or break apart upon application. I paid $0.99 for mine (on sale + $1 extrabuck), but it retails for $4.99 at CVS

First of all, I am in LOVE with the scent. Nothing pleases me more than oranges! It is a bit overpriced in my opinion, but you do get quite a big tube of lip balm. It moisturizes decently but after a few applications, I started feeling an odd grittiness from the lip balm. I wasn't sure if I just had dry skin on my lips or something but after reading the reviews here, I'm starting to suspect that it had nothing to do with me. Also, I think I had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients in the lip balm. I have no idea what this ingredient is though which makes it so that I can't avoid it. Thankfully, I noticed my lips acting funny early before it developed into a rash....again <_<.

I am very surprised that this product got the low rating it did. This is now on my HG lip product list. I love how it makes my lips feel so moisturized and soft. I don't like the fact that it looks like a huge glue stick in my bag, but for the price that I bought it for, I am thankful that I won't have to buy one for a long while. Also, its very hard to lose such a chunker of a lip balm. I put this on before I go to sleep and all is good for my lips.

This is my favorite lip balm because of its natural organic ingredients. I love the orange smell, there is no unpleasant waxiness smell/taste. For the price, you get a lot of product, it's a nice size and lasts. I have repurchased this many times and usually order 2 or 3 at a time.

Yet another lip balm that will go unused. Did not care for this stuff at all, I totally agree with the others who posted about this crumbling on their lips, and I even found that it made my lips start to peel! I randomly try this again from time to time and I always regret it...definatly won't be repurchasing.

It works fine as a lip balm, but isn't anything special. The texture is very odd--dissolves into mushy crumbles. If you're not careful upon application, the crumbs will remain visible on your lips. Regarding the larger tube, it would indeed be a packaging plus if the product didn't crumble. I'll use the rest of the tube but I won't be buying again.

LOVE! Very moisturizing. I like the orange scent. I wish it had SPF, but I just use it at night or when I know I'm going to be inside for several hours.
This is cheap! It is a huge tube of lip balm and it's like $2 or $3 at vitacost. I love Avalon's Vitamin C serum, and this is another great product from Avalon.

I wasn't too impressed with this. (Note: I'm only using this as a nighttime treatment)
Pros:
The thick, chunky tube -- makes it much easier and quicker to apply.
The price. .25 oz, for, what... four, five bucks? I can definitely deal with that.
And... that's about it.
Cons:
The smell. I can take or leave orange scents (lemon is a whole 'nother story, tho -- love that), but this was just way too strong.
The color. I didn't originally intend to use it solely as a nighttime treatment, but it leaves my lips with an ugly, whitish cast, so I'd rather not use it during the day.
And the big one:
The texture! What the hell is with this? It's disgusting. I can not only feel tiny granules in this, but I can see them as well. All... freaking... over. Nope. I'll pass.
I'll use up this tube, but I definitely won't repurchase.

What is up with this lip balm? It disintegrates into little grains the second it touches my lips, it’s the strangest thing, I’ve never had this happen before. I just end up with a bunch of gunk on my lips, like little waxy granules. It’s probably something about my body chemistry, because others don’t seem to be mentioning it much.
I can’t really comment about the moisturizing qualities, because I never keep it on long enough, since I end up taking it all off when wiping off the grains. Gross.

ive purchased a whole bunch of these to keep with me everywhere, next to by bed (i put it on at night and it leaves my lips super soft and kissable when i wake up), in my car, in my purse, i really like it because of the natural ingredients and the vitamin c which is very healing (ive used the entire vitamin c line and loved it!) i like the chubby tube too, and the orangy scent, the only thing about it that i dont like is that is goes on a little lumpy and i wish it had SPF in it as well. but other than that, i love it! i have and will repurchase again

Purchased this lip balm through my local Vitamin Shoppe. It's on the more expensive side in cost. It is an okay lip balm, nothing particular that "jumped" out at me since I've used this. It does have a nice orange/citrus scent to it, faint, that is. It felt slightly gritty to me when I applied it to the lip area. It didn't irritate or otherwise cause any adverse skin reactions to my lip area which is nice since I have ULTRA sensitive skin these days. I just don't see myself paying the higher price for what I consider an average lip balm.

this is my boyfriends HG lip stuff (he swears by it). hes the kind of guy that owns no skin care products what so eve, he will wash his face with anything. Anyway, he bought a box of 20 of them. Weve both bêen using them, and this is the best lip balm ever. Hands down. weather resistant (if you do any outdoor sports this will stand up to just about anything), protects and leaves your lips super super moisturized. not so greasy, super light orangey smell/taste. A little on the pricey side cause we are both losing them all the time but.. still well worth it. best stuff for your lips out there!

i was becoming slightly bored with burt's bees mint and pommegranite lip balms - even though they do work for me. also, i have a sneaking suspicion that mint is drying and because of the mint you have to keep re-applying the peppermint balm a lot more often... but, anyway, i tried this. i don't like it very much - it seems to sit on top of my lips and when i drink water or anything it changes to a thicker goo - i guess it absorbs the water? it tastes nice - and seems to moisturize - but i just prefer a cleaner feeling. i think my bf likes it - and i gave it 3 stars because there is nothing really bad about it - it is just that in my opinion i think that it feels goopy on my lips.

This lip balm is GREAT ! So glad I found this chubby balm. I use it before I go to bed, under my lipstick, first thing in the morning.... it is perfect. Your lips feel smooth and it lasts a long time. Mine was not gritty at all. And my husband borrowed it while we were on a business trip, and now he uses it as well. The faint citrus scent is a bonus to a wonderful lip balm !
