I am surprised at the relatively above-average rating for this product because it is CRAP!!! It actually made my hair even more tangled and less shiny!! And worst part of all--it broke out my forehead in all these horrible flesh-colored clogged pores that took forever to get rid of! I hated this and was ready to get rid of it after I discovered all these issues. Sad that this didn't work but it only cost a couple dollars, so I didn't feel to guilty parting ways with this product after all.

I see their are mixed reviews here. I personally like this. I was in the supermarket and noticed not a lot of companies still do the spray leave in conditioners. I remember in the 90's every brand seemed to have one. I grabbed Alberto Vo5 because it's so cheap. I think it's not the best out there but it still works very good. I do have to spritz a lot in to get the best results (12-15 pumps of spray). My hair is very thick, color treated, dry, long past bra strap and has the annoying texture of straight AND wavy with a whole lot of frizz. I spray this on before I brush and blow dry. I feel that it does a good job detangling but a mediocre job at providing shine (I have to add a different product for more shine). I like the scent of this and feel this is nice for people who are sensitive to scents. Obviously, you need to use a regular conditioner in the shower because this, imo is a very light conditioner. I rate this a 4 because it's a good product for the price. However, I think I when I run out of this, I wil search for a better one.

I really liked this product when I first bought it, but I think my hormones have changed since then, and it's just not enough for my gnarly hair anymore.

It's great for detangling and adding extra softness to the ends of your hair, but it's not a stand alone conditioner. I still need to use a traditional conditioner in the shower, and then I can use this in addition to that.

Love this ♥! It's super cheap and really works at getting those gnarly tangles out. If I didn't have this for my comb out after my shower I literally would lose fist fulls of hair.

Awesome product! and affordable! I had issues with my hair getting oily within 1 day of shampooing and now I realize it is because my hair/scalp was dry!! Using this after shampooing, has helped moisturize my hair/scalp so the shampoo's last upto 3 days!

I have been through several bottles of this product. I use it as a leave in conditioner when I get out of the shower. You can also use it to get out tangles. Very nice product. I love it!!!

It dried my hair out, which caused it to tangle more...didn't do it for me at all. It didn't make it soft or managable, I could barely get a comb to go through it. Left it dull, ugh. Would not repurchase.

I hate to give products bad reviews but i feel robbed after purchasing this. My hair is very dry and damaged from coloring and using a hot iron. So i bought this on the promise that it would detangle and condition my hair. It did nothing. I might as well have sprayed pure alcohol on my hair! It's awful. Does NOT detangle, does NOT condition. It's just like spraying alcohol or water on your hair. Dried it out even more. I want my money back! Awful! Do not buy!

This is a product I have repurchased several times. I spray this in my very fine/thin hair after I towel dry it, and it combs through easily and looks and feels soft and silky but does not weigh it down. I've tried many many other similar products including expensive salon quality products and still came back to this.

I'm reviewing this product in conjunction with the other products that I used at the same time (Hempz Hydrating Shampoo, Silky Sexy Hair Conditioner, and Hask Pure Shine Frizz Remedy). I'm not sure how each product works alone, but this combination was like MAGIC for my long, thick, and coarse hair!
I was already using Hempz Hydrating Shampoo and the matching conditioner, but since the conditioner is in a small tube, rather than a bottle, I ran out. I decided to run to Wal-Mart and pick up what seemed like a good conditioner until I could run out to ULTA and pick up more Hempz. I loved the smell of the Silky Sexy Hair Conditioner (smells like a banana split), so I bought it. I also remembered reading on MUA how Hask Pure Shine Frizz Remedy was great for coarse hair, so I picked it up too. On the way home I remembered that I had run out of my favorite detangler, Sunsilk, so I stopped by Walgreens, but was told by the cashier in the beauty dept. that Sunsilk was discontinuing this product, so I decided to go with VO5 Detangle and Shine.
After trying all of the products together, I was so pleased with all of my choices! My hair is silkier and softer than it has ever been. What a transformation in just one week! I don't know which product made this happen, so I'm crediting them all! I encourage anyone with long, thick, and coarse hair to try this combo. It's worked miracles for my hair!

Overall a great product! I am ALWAYS looking for leave-in's as my hair is finally getting back to normal after years of wear and tear with numerous types of extensions and bleaching/coloring. It is fine, long and color treated so I tend to get split ends and tangles very easy. My hair itself is pretty shiny looking but I wanted a gentle detangler. This does the job nicely without making my hair greased out and limp. The scent lingers but it is pretty nice and fresh smelling. My hair is very soft and smooth feeling after styling - however like others I haven't noticed too much of a difference in the shine department. All in all I like it and would repurchase it!

i switched to this spray after my dove in the blue bottle was discontinued. it does a very good job in detangling my hair.( my hair is very light blonde, and very dry from being color-treated) also i think the smell is great. however i havent noticed any difference in the shine of my hair. i did not purchase it for that reason. but as for detangling it does an awesome job. best part , not tested on animals!

This makes my hair SUPER soft! I just use a few sprays (3 actually) on my unbrushed towel dry hair, comb through it and wahla when I blow dry it (or let it air dry) it is super soft. It adds a touch of moisture (I use a regular contioner in the shower, as this alone is not enough). I agree with the other reviewer it prevents my hair from being staticy. I like it better than others I have tried (aussie, infusium, other expensive salon brands). I will definitely continue to buy. I like the scent and after it's dry I really have to try hard sniffing it to smell it, so it definitely fades and isn't overpowering.

Walgreens is the only place I have had any luck finding this spray.

I LOVE this product, it's my HG! Here is the full description from the bottle:

VO5 Detangle & Shine: Restoring Daily Leave-in Conditioner
Get your hair out of its tangle with VO5 Detangle & Shine. This weightless leave-in conditioner protects hair from damage caused by brushing and heat application. The vitamin-enhanced formula delivers moisture, transforming hair from tangled and dry to soft, smooth, and manageable.

I have very fine hair. I started using this product because I was afraid my hair was becoming damaged from brushing and using a hair dryer every day. This spray detangles, conditions, and protects my hair from heat. My friends have commented on how smooth and healthy my hair looks, and I think it's thanks to this product. It gives my hair the protection and conditioning it needs. I've been using this for about two or three years now, and I don't plan to stop.

This is an okay product. It kind of makes it easier to detangle my hair and protects against heat! It's a 2-in-1. The thing I don't like is that it's in a spray bottle and I have thick, curly hair, so I'm going to have to put more on. I won't be buying this again, though.

I've found that all leave-ins work basically the same, so usually I just find whatever is the cheapest. I chose this one because it's one of the few drugstore brands that does not test on animals, and I'm fairly happy with it.
It comes in a red-and-white shiny spray bottle. I mist it all over my hair when I don't want to pull and tug at my hair and it feels particularly tangled, or I spray it directly on a knot. It does a decent job of detangling. I don't notice any extra shine or conditioning, but it delivers what you pay for.
My only real complaint is the smell: it's a hairspray-ish scent that reminds me exactly of Pantene shampoos and conditioners. This is NOT a good thing, because I can't stand the awful ingredients and fillers companies like Pantene use. Furthermore, the scent actually lasts and I'll catch little whiffs of it throughout the day.
I may shop around and see if there are other brands that work a little better (or smell a little better), but I don't see a reason why I wouldn't come back to this.

As a detangler, this product is just so-so. However, as static-preventer, it's great. I spray it on my damp hair and have noticed a major difference in winter static when I use this. It doesn't last long, though. I wash my hair every other day, and by the 2nd day, the static is back. It works great for that first day, though. On the 2nd day, I use Neutrogena Triple moisture Silk Touch Leavin-in Cream and my hair is great. No more winter frustrations thanks to these two products.

I need a leave-in product to condition my hair, no matter how moisturizing my rinse-out conditioner is. I need one everyday, even when I don't wash my hair, because my hair is wavy and can get frizzy and unruly. Not only that, when I get ready in the mornings, my hair's a knotty mess. This product loosens those knots, protects my hair from my frequent blw-drying, and has the added benefit of making my hair more breakage resistant over time, and all without build-up. I think it smells great and has plenty of natural ingredients in it. I also think that it comes in a very elegant spray bottle--very pleasing.

My biggest complaint (if you can call it that) is that it is exceedingly hard to find. I think that it's being discontinued, because I can't find it anywhere!

EDIT: Okay, I've finally found this product again, and now I understand what's up with the horrible reviews. THEY REFORMULATED IT!! It is now in a packaging similar to the REDstylers, and their natural ingredients have been replaced with 'cones and the like. I like cones, but I hate spray-ins with so many, because I use other cone-y products and don't want build up. I'll keep the rating as 5 lippies for the old, but the new stuff really stinks.

I had no luck with this at all. I was trying to find a more "grown-up" replacement for the L'Oreal kids' detangler I'd been using every day for years (you know, the pear-scented one). So I bought this, even though it was more expensive than the L'Oreal. I've tried it a few times now, and I'm going to have to give it away or just toss it. It doesn't even TRY to detangle my thick, naturally curly, just-past-the-shoulders hair.

I've just recently had my hair TR'd, and this product still can't detangle me even with straight locks! Back to the pear-scented L'Oreal kids' detangler for me.
