I like this eyeshadow as it is nicely pigmented. On a scale of 1-10 for pigmentation, I'd say 8. The color itself is easy to create smokey eye looks which is what I use it for. However I don't find the color so pretty...just adds depth to my eyes which I like. And for the price, you can't go wrong since it will last you a year probably. I don't use it everyday...I like to switch it up. I use it about twice a week.

This is a great shadow for the price! Its just a dark matte brown. Its very versatile and can be used as a liner, crease colour, all over colour, or brow colour. I took one lippie off since the texture could be better, maybe if it was was smoother. For a dark brown, I prefer Prestige Coffee Bean.

I wear this eyeshadow almost everyday. It effortlessly looks beautiful. The application is smooth and velvety, it's true to color, and I never have to go back for a second swipe in the pan for more. I've also never had another eyeshadow smoke out and blend so well.
I have NARS Galapagos and Stila Barefoot Contessa, which are similar, but for Milani making such a great quality comparable in Java Bean for a fraction of the price, I wish they would continue making this!

This is so gorgeous, a slightly plum-tinged brown with golden shimmer. Its just beautiful as a lid/crease color. It’s soft and quite pigmented. I find it actually goes on too dark on its own, so I wear it over a base layer of Stila ‘Kitten’ or Sonia Kashuk 'Tongue in Cheek' Duo (taupe). Lasts all day over a primer & a base layer of shadow. It’s a great everyday shadow. Its goes with anything, and it’s a safe choice when i don’t know what eye makeup shades to wear, yet its more interesting than just a basic brown. It’s also buildable for a dramatic, nighttime look. One of my most frequently used and best loved shadows. I’ve sought out many dupes (Stila ‘Barefoot Contessa’ and ELF Studio ‘Saddle’ are close), but nothing quite compares. It’s been discontinued for a couple of years, though the pan I have is still going strong. I have repurchased, just to be safe, since it’s still available for a reasonable price on eBay.

Very pigmented, soft and slightly frosty on me NW35/NC42, The color looks horrible on my olive skin, it doesnt work as a lid or crese color, and on the crease is too shimmery and accentuates wrinkles.
I dont like it, but its still a good shadow ;)

So most of Milani shadows have poor color pay off and crappy textures. This one is actually really nice. It has a velvety texture, goes on very dark, almost too dark. It's like a dark plummy brown with shimmer. One of my favorite Milani eyeshadows.

A perfect shade that I have to stop myself from wearing everyday. Staying power is good when used with a base and it's such a lovely shade. I can't fault it.

So sad I cant find these anywhere anymore. A really great everyday brown that really is similar to a MAC neutral in terms of color, texture and staying power- I don't usually compare high-end to drugstore b/c thats ridiculous but this is really it. - I went through two and wish I could find them again.

Nice color, it's a dark shimmery brown. I use it as a crease/outer V color.

Perfect bronzey brown color. Excellent pigmentation which can be applied dry or wet. Combines with most colors I have used and is economically feasible.. lol, meaning it is cheap.
This ES would cost 10x as much if it had a CD logo and box on it... I buy and depot into my palettes!
love the color, love the application and price!

I adore Milani singles! Java Bean is very dramatic on my coloring but pretty--this deep shimmery bronze brings out the green and gold "hazel" tones in my otherwise brown eyes. I love using it for a neutral smoky eye or a crease shade.
Impressive pigmentation, texture, and wear for a small price.

Love the color and the pigmentation is great. Besides it is a real bargain. The color is perfect for the crease and outer V i love it. The packaging is crap but it's so easy to depot it and it fits perfectly in MAC and e.l.f. palettes.

im not quite sure why milani discontinued their single pan eyeshadows, as they seem to be highly coveted for their price and performance; before i could afford MAC, i was using milani. actually, even after i could afford MAC, i was still using milani! java bean applies a goldish brown on my lids, a cross between MAC romp and MAC bronze, and is definitely wearable and has good staying power when used over a primer (i use lumenes, which works much, MUCH better than UDPP, which i really dont like). however, it only rates a 3 because i just dont find myself reaching for it too often. it is very pretty when paired with MAC naked lunch and blended out for a neutral daytime look.

I had asked MUAers to rec. a good true bronze e/s and they suggested this. Unfortunatly these singles are being discontinued but this shade is deff a true bronze! No orange or red undertones, just a nice warm light shimmer dark bronze/brown. id repurchase if it wasnt being discontinued.
Edit:
taking lippie away, staying power is crappy. most of the color was gone w/in 2hrs! Great color, bad everything else. Ill stick w/ Revlon for DS shadow.

This was a surprise for sure! I bought this shadow because I wanted to try the Milani brand. I thought it was going to be run-of-the-mill DS stuff (cheap, instant gratification kind of stuff), but it turned out to be really high quality for the price.
First, I love love love the color. It's a rich plummy brown with a flattering soft metallic shimmer that doesn't run over into frostiness. It's easy to blend and works to add a bit of depth to a neutral eye or to add a bit of drama to a brown smokey eye. Nice stuff!
Minus one of a lippie for the cheap packaging. But I guess it's more like minus one half a lippie because with an upgrade in packaging, you'd be paying MAC prices!

I bought this some years ago when I decided to try more earthier/neutral colors. When I first got it, I didn't know what I was doing but as time went on, I discovered that this became my go to color for a brown or a crease color. I didn't know what a great find I had stumbled upon!
I really like the shimmery quality of the powder and it blends well on my skin. Nowadays I prime my lids with an eyeshadow primer (Sally Hansen Natural Beauty) but I used to use a bit of foundation or concealer to 'fix' my color to my lids.
It's a single pan which can be very helpful when traveling. I often bring this for my 'evening' look along with my Physicians Formula Matte Collection Quad Eye Shadow in Classic Nudes. I like the clear lid because I can actually SEE what color I'm reaching for. I tend to buy items with a clear lid or top and I reach for them more than others with a shaker or opaque lid. This flip-top lid has not ever come open at an inopportune time and the hinge still has not broken.
It's often on sale at CVS for BOGO 50% off or BOGO Free and even if it is not, it's not expensive at all! And if you don't really care for the color, you can return it. CVS has a really good policy for returning cosmetics - just save your receipt.

I think this is a great color for everyday wear. You can easily create a night time smokey eye though as well. It's really lovely and flattering. The texture of the shadow is great too. It blends easily, and the color payoff is great. I'm loving these sort of colors all over the lid with black winged liner for fall. If you see this color, buy it!

I absolutely love this shadow. I saw one the other day (last one) & I bought it, even though I've only used my first one 3 times. It's quality is top notch & the color is soooo pretty. It lasts a long time & even when it does start fading, the color it fades to is gorgeous too. I love this & if I see another one, I'll buy it too! LOL too bad these are discontinued.. it's an excellent shadow.

What can I say...this shadow is beautiful! I wouldn't compare this to any onther shadow... I have a lot of "high-end" shadows, but i don't see a reason to compare. Altough it is a drug stoe shadow, it's just an all around good buy. I would gladly pay a high-end price for this one. The color is unique. The texture is smooth and silky. It blends like a dream. What more can I say...

The milani single shadows are amazing! I have heard they are being/have been discontinued which is a shame because they are amazing. I don't own any MAC shadows so I can't compare these to them but I read a lot of reviews both on mua and youtube that these are very comparable to mac shadows. They are VERY pigmented, great texture, and lasts a long time on your lids. This particular color is definitely more on the brown side, but with a plummy/burgundy undertone. It's a gorgeous color and I can wear this by itself all over the lid and it would give me a nice brownish/deep plummish soft smokey eye.
