What in the name of the perfume gods is going on here?
I love Amber, and I've tried so many different takes on this note, from natural ambergris, to middle eastern, to western and everything in between. I was extremely excited about this cheapie after reading the reviews.
I received my package in a timely manner. It was wrapped in wrapping paper which was a nice touch. However, I was instantly hit by the aroma of the "Amber" when I removed the wrapping, and you could see me saying "No....no....no...please...no". Yet I ignored all of my instincts and got the sprayer out to try it on my skin right away. And oh my....Cheap chocolate, dust, rubber, saw dust, something sweet in a bad way, and a dose of patchouli. I have seen so many patchouli fragrances being labeled as Amber before, but this one has to be the worst. This is like a cheap take on A*Men with a lot of dust.
Though to be fair, about an hour or two later something emerges that has a minor resemblance of Amber, but by that point nothing can justify the long opening.
I'll give Dragonfly Blue credit for the nice, quickly shipped package. The samples (I actually liked Mystic Gold, which is more ambery and smoother than this one, nothing mind blowing though). And those perfume stick on the skin for a long time, with reasonable projection.
You do get what you pay for, but even then there are many good cheap houses out there (Lunableu comes to mind.). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though and assume my Amber was just from a bad batch.

Very smooth amber. DFB is wonderful to order from. I also like to layer this with violet and lighter scents that need some oomph.

I absolutely HATE this. I ordered a sample of this because of the nice reviews but I should have known better. I've never liked Amber but took a chance, hoping it would grow on me. Needless to say, it was the worst scent I've received from DFB. I can't even describe it. Pungent and repulsive. I vigorously scrubbed my wrist with warm soapy water to remove it, but the venom didn't budge. The left over vapors morphed into the stomach churning stench of Obsession. BAD, BAD, BAD!

It is what is, an amber fragrance oil. I prefer the smell of the Henri Bendel amber home fragrance as it is more nuanced, but this will do in a pinch. I most likely would not buy this again.

I've had this little 5 ml. bottle for two years and just tried it tonight. This is the BEST amber! Lightly spicey, sweet, warm, not at all dirty. Perfect. I let my husband sniff as he was turning to leave the room and he said, "That's nice" then did a double take and turned back around and said, "Mmmm, that's nice. Nice and smooth." I just love this.

On its own this is beautiful, layered on top of DFB Violet it's simply divine. Sweet, soft, low-key amber, very sensual and comfy, like a cashmere sweater. Wear this Amber alone or add some florals to it, any way you wear it you will smell amazing.

I must agree with previous reviews. This Amber is impressive regarding many aspects.
Of course the price is unbeatable - not even mentionning that I got a huge sample of it as an extra!
But also, its blend is a quite one to my nose: pepper and spicy scents, and clearly, a certain "muskiness" make it a bit animalistic and very sexy!
Grown up Amber for sure!

This is embarassing to admit, but when I first applied Dragonfly Blue's Amber oil to my wrist, I wanted to sing & dance. I wanted to pound the table top screaming Yes! Yes! Yes! This is the amber I had been searching for; rich, elemental, and resinous. Not Amber-Lite, not Amber As Interpreted By The Artist, or Amber As Baked In A Cupcake. This is amber oil as worn by Cleopatra, warm golden globules of it, woody and sweet/pungent without a trace of bitterness. As previously mentioned by everyone, better customer service you simply will not find, anywhere; quick shipping, friendly communications & generously offered samples. Many thanks to the fabulous Fragrance board for bringing this gem to my attention!

Don't be put off by Amber's head shop oil packaging and next-to-nothing cost. To me, it beats most of the boutique frags I tried - by far! It's decadent, heavy, and luscious - and perfect for fall and winter. Although I don't care for oil, Amber can withstand and mingles with its oily base. Love it.

First of all, I love amber. I try every amber fragrance I can get my hands on. I keep a chunk of amber resin in my purse and use it as a solid perfume. I *love* amber, so of course, the prospect of a true, unembellished amber fragrance at this price is one I found very exciting indeed. When I opened the little sample vial, however, I was very surprised and rather puzzled. It smelled nothing like amber at all! But, I have a policy of trying every scent I buy (and any free samples generous companies like DFB kindly send me), so I tried it. Yuck. It smells like. . .cola? I am utterly mystified. I've been wearing it now for about an hour, and a very slight woody/resiny note is emerging, but mostly it smells like someone spilled their Coke all over the forest floor. Extremely disappointed and very, very confused am I. Did I get a bad batch, or something? This is the first DFB oil I've tried, and I have eight more to go (I bought a six-scent sampler and received three freebies). Even though I am disappointed in their amber, I still have warm fuzzy feelings about this company (beautiful packaging, wicked fast shipping), and am looking forward to trying their other scents.

I'm not a huge amber fan, but this smells delicious when mixed with other scents such as M'Hazel and Apricot. It's very strong at first, but dries down to a rich, warm scent that gets better and better throughout the day. Wonderful!

it took me a bit to get used to this fragrance, but now i absolutely love it! it is warm and delicious, and it becomes sort of "your skin but better" in the drydown. it is buttery and spicy and sweet all at the same time. i love this company, their shipping, and their products. i was not thrilled with their new solid perfume, though--it smells realllly off and sort of more like the base than the scent itself. you can't go wrong with the oils, though. i do wish they were a little stronger or longer lasting on me sometimes, but hey--that's the nature of essential oils. please do try this scent and this company--you can't go wrong!

What a great amber! So many ambers are either prohibitively priced or just plain hard to get (Ambre Extreme and Ambre Sultan come to mind). This one is just pure, sweet, spicy, warm amber oil at an excellent price. While other ambers tend to emphasize the spicy side of the note, this one is so sweetly warm and delicious that you wish that amber was a cooking spice...but not without sacrificing its natural exoticism.

I'm not a Dragonfly lover, but of all the scents, Amber is my favorite. Received sample in trade and enjoyed it (being Dragonfly) more than certain other fragrances. I DO like the fact it is OIL and lasts forever! Wish someone could mimick staying power in vanilla-based fragrance.

This is a beautiful, warm, woody amber. Less sweet and feminine in my opinion than the amber from mmu. I like to blend this w/ a bit of DFB vanilla, but it is also nice on its own.

Mm...you can tell this is one of the base notes under some of the classic perfumes like Chanel #5. Warm and mysterious and exotic and sweet. At first, a little *too* sweet for my tastes, but it's mellowing after a bit. Would mix well with other scents, I bet.

This is my favorite amber. Warm, sweet with just a little spice to it and a soft musk. This scent lasted all day on me. I will be reordering this. DBF is wonderful, great customer service. I received my package in 2 days.
