Not sure why people give Neutrogena skincare products such poor reviews. I noticed a lot of Neutrogena cleansers are strong and designed more for people with oily/combination skin. Anything that writes "foaming" "anti blemish" "pore cleansing", etc, is designed for oily skin. People need to buy the appropriate cleansers for their skin type before they write poor reviews. This is a pretty strong cleanser, and it can burn your eyes if you're not careful. This does a really good job of cleansing my skin & cleaning out my pores without any dryness or irritation. I do use a serum afterwards or a very light oil-free moisturizer, just makes my skin feel nicer. I use this with Neutrogena Pore Refining cleanser, alternating the two depending on my mood, and my skin is looking great, glowy and no break outs!

I liked this cleanser. It didn't wow me or really clear breakouts, but it didn't make me break out more. Since I'm taking Retin-A now, I find this to be too harsh for my skin, so I'm no longer using it.

I really like this cleanser. I'm only 20 so I don't really need to worry about wrinkles, but I am getting a few lines on my forehead so I figure starting early on a good skincare regimen wouldn't hurt. I picked this up along with the moisturizer for under 30 dollars at CVS. This, along with the moisturizer, has helped my skin dramatically. I don't know if its the salicylic acid or the retinol but my acne has almost disappeared and my overall skin tone is less red and a lot more even. I will say though this product is very drying so I only use the face wash every few days and make sure I put the moisturizer on as soon as I'm done cleansing. I will repurchase and I would reccomend.
Oh, and the texture is completely freaky but what I do is instead of tryin to lather it in my hands I just put it directly on my face and it's a lot easier to get lathering lol

When I turned 30 my skin went crazy. oily acne prone, Cyst acne you name it. This product at night with the clarisonic mia is amazing for my skin, in conjunction with bio oil I think its lighten my acne scars. I havent used it in the morning due to the AHA warning but it works great at night.

Been using this face wash for 4 months now. My skin tone has improved quite abit and seems more brighter. I do notice my acne spots fading alittle, but not much. (I am now using Finacea for that). The AHA's really slough off the dead skin cells on my pimples. I can literally peel them off after washing my face! I have sensitive skin and this did not dry or burn me. I use with my Clarisonic and it really cleans my skin and lathers great. The S.A. content is only 0.5% which is very low compared to the full 2% in most acne cleansers. Which is probably why i don't see much improvement in my acne with this wash. Overall i do like this product but am sad it does not clear up my acne as much as i'd hoped it would! I will continue to use until i find another cleanser.

I've been using it twice a day since I got it, I've had less dry flaking skin than I had prior. I immediately apply moisturizer while my face is still damp. Overall, my skin is clearer, much smoother, and the tone more even.
UPDATE: I used it long enough to mix & match with various moisturizers & I've realized that this stuff is MAGIC, no matter what I use afterwards. I used to get cystic acne around that time of the month -- no more! My pores have shrunk, and my skin is so soft. LOVE THIS STUFF!

I think some people review things without really thinking before they type and not understanding the ingredients in the product. This has retinols in it...which can be extremely drying if you have sensitive skin or your face is not used to the ingredients. You shouldn't review a product negatively for this. Every retinol product will do this to some people, does NOT mean the product is bad.
Now on to the actual product, it's very good. I have acne/combo skin but want anti-aging ingredients as well so I was happy to find this. My breakouts have not gone away completely (probably won't ever, damn hormones!) but my face did get better and my healing acne looks so much better than it did! I don't see much on the aging issue yet, as it's only been 3 weeks, but I'm hopeful. I also use the moisturizer in tandem. I do not notice a smell like some people stated. It smells like a normal face wash to me!

It's ok I guess. I didn't notice any difference with my wrinkles. A bit too slimy and takes a lot of water to create a foamy lather. I do not recommend this cleanser and would not repurchase.

I normally use Neutrogena's oil-free acne daily scrub, so when I ran out of that, I decided to switch to this product as I do have a few lines on my forehead and bridge of nose I wanted to smooth out. Needless to say, that was a mistake. The area around my mouth/chin was so dry and irritated that I needed to use a mild lotion to calm it down. Also- it did nothing for my acne. So I switched back to my mainstay (the oil-free acne daily scrub that is).

I bought this cleanser because I was looking for a product that would mimic the cleanser that is in the Neutrogena acne system (the one with the cleanser, night treatment, and moisture lotion with SPF 15). The cleanser in that system really worked well for me and it wasn't at all irritating when I had cystic acne. I stopped using the system because my skin got a lot better, so I can't really justify spending $20 for the three product system. The Neutrogena anti-blemish anti-wrinkle cleanser is like the cleanser from the acne system in that they both only have 0.5% salicylic acid. All the other Neutrogena acne cleansers I saw had 2% salicylic acid and I thought that would be too harsh for my skin.
All in all I'm happy with this cleaner. I wish it weren't slimy and I might have to stop using it during the winter (because it might dry my skin), but during the summer it is fine since I have oily skin. It has helped clear up my pores, which is what I was looking for. So, if you are over 30 and have mild acne breakouts, I would recommend you try out this cleanser. If you are a teenager with major acne problems, I don't know why you would use this product. I would recommend you try Neutrogena's acne system.

So I gave this a 2 because it did kinda help with my acne after one use and my face felt kind of smoother afterwards. I didn't care for the wrinkle benefit because I barely turned 17 but the ingredients were appealing. AHA, Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid. But to the bad things; I hate the smell, I hate the texture, and the unsatisfying feeling after. I don't feel like my face is clean. Luckily I technically didn't buy this. I went to Target to buy this and the Boots Botanics Conditioning Clay Mask but afterwards I realized the lady only charged me for the mask which I have yet to try :)

I love how this product isn't HE so my expectation were low. I blew through my expectations. I was mailing back and forth betyween an MUAer and she was telling me spending more doesn't mean better, which I agree. I heard Neutrogena has some great cleanser. Although salicylic acic doesn't do the trick for me (i'm using 10% bezoyl peroxide) I like that this cleanser has AHA in it. It help calm down my skin. I've used all sorts of cleansers and masks and this one along with the Deep clean which contain beta hydroxy has made my skin look great. I am very happy with this pruduct. I use it with my clarisonic at least once a week. I can't believ Neutrogene has been given my skin such great result.!! My acne has been calming down and my skin has been looking better overall,

I'd had bad experiences with anti-aging products in the past, but was optimistic when I saw this product was from Neutrogena. The first thing I noticed was the weird consistency of the product. When I tried to rub my hands together, it wouldn't lather and would slip through my fingers into the sink. My skin didn't dry out as it had with other products, but it didn't do anything for my acne or give any observable anti-aging benefits.

I bought this cleanser last week as I was looking for a cleanser that had some type of acid in it like AHA and behold I found this. Anti-wrinkle anti-blemish all bottled up in one. The texture of it is weird but I usually put it on my face before I get in the shower. I like to let it sit on my face so that the AHA can begin to break down the dead skin cells on my face. It does leave your skin very dry, but I actually like this as I feel like it has done its job. I make sure to put moisturizer and sunblock on afterwards. I would certainly purchase this again.

I'm on my second tube of this and I LOVE it. I've actually never repurchased a cleanser ever, so this says alot. I have really horrible red cystic acne along with whiteheads etc, and I think this stuff really helps. A week ago, I bought the Olay cleansing brush and use it with this cleanser and a huge nasty cyst that hadn't budged for months is flat. Before the Olay, I massaged it into my skin for at least a minute to get the exfoliating benefits. It is a bit drying, but once I follow up with moisturizer I'm good to go.
Highly recommended!

I wanted to love this, but didn't work out for me. It doesn't lather well, and it feels tight on my skin. Doesn't do well controlling break outs, it dried my skin instead. I still need a make up remover before using this cleanser to make sure I got rid of any trace of make up before going to bed.
Will not repurchase.

This cleanser is shockingly bad. I've used many of Neutrogena's products over the years and have never experienced anything nearly as terrible as this.
Other reviewers have commented on the awful texture of the product, and I couldn't agree more. When this stuff comes out of the tube it is strangely gelatinous and will not break apart or foam up or anything. If you try to rub your hands together to make it foam up or spread apart so you can actually apply it to your face, it resists any effort to make it usable and comes apart in gooey clumps, still in the shape they took when the came out of the tube, that usually wind up in the sink or on the shower floor.
The smell is 100% old lady. And it left my face feeling like alligator skin.
Horrible product.

This is my favorite cleanser by far... I randomly started using it and it made my skin really soft and helped pretty well with my acne. It doesn't do the best for my acne, but I really really just like this stuff!
